Chapter 13: The Demons that Control Us

AN: Well this took longer than expected. I swear after the fiasco in December, I promised myself that no update would take as long as Chapter 9 took. I guess I have yet to learn my lesson. School factored in some delays but it wasn't completely to blame. Here is a little secret: I suck at writing fight scenes, so it takes an extra amount of motivation for me to sit and write something I feel others have done so much better. I understand that this is a DBZ story so fighting is the norm, but I epically fail in this area. It's why I started the other story in an effort to try different strategies until I find the right fight-writing format. For those of you that still read my story, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you at least get some enjoyment from this chapter. And finally thank you to all that have reviewed. They meant to world to me.

Gohan stared long and hard at his diminutive opponent and could hardly believe that he could be responsible for the death of his opponent. However Gohan had long ago made peace with the thought that first impressions and size played a role in how strong an opponent can be. He was a living example of small stature but incredible power; well, as long as his Ki wasn't erratic.

Still Gohan wondered if this was a lone intrusion or if he was part of a group. Gohan kept getting an eerie feeling, but it didn't seem to be coming from the turban wearing fighter in front of him. A quick Ki scan told him he was facing a formidable foe, whose strength was above that of a normal human, but far below his own at full power.

He extended his Ki sensing net and was faced with the alarming image of three other unidentified strong Kis but similar to the blue fighter in front of him. Likewise, Krillin's and Trunks' Ki were at rest as if they were unconscious. Gohan growled since he could see just how close the other three were to Krillin and Trunks, and figured they must have done something to his friends.

"You're not alone are you?" Gohan barked. "Tell me who you are, and who your friends are before I get physical and extract the information myself."

The turban-wearing small fighter only snickered but didn't say anything.

"Answer me! What have they done to my friends?" shouted an enraged Gohan. He dashed forward and gripped the blue fighter's shirt and pulled him closer.

Due to how close they were Gohan didn't see when his opponent threw a Ki ball to his face. It wasn't enough to hurt him, but enough to momentarily distract him, and his foe capitalized by ripping himself away from the grip of the dazed Gohan and kicking him at eye level.

Gohan picked himself off from the trench he created after that last kick. He dusted himself off before turning around. "I hope you enjoyed you cheap shot because I won't be as nice next time. This is your last chance, tell me who you guys are and what have you done to my friends?"

The mute blue fighter responded by lifting two giant blocks from the demented play pen battlefield over his head with what appeared as psychic powers. He looked Gohan dead in the eyes as threw his hands forward and the two blocks sped at the young Saiyan hybrid.

Gohan shook his head while exhaling, "I tried to do this the nice way." He summoned two large orbs of Ki; though he did feel slightly more resistance. He tossed them forward and they exploded with the blocks creating a smoke screen.

The purple Gi wearing teen blew right through the smoke screen. He knew exactly where his blue-skinned opponent floated. Gohan saw his shocked expression and wasted little time to morph it into one of pain by punching him right in the nose. Not letting up on his lead, Gohan followed after his foe's trajectory through the giant toys. At every twist and turn Gohan would punch or kick the blue fighter in a different direction.

A cross-armed Gohan landed on the ground just as the turban-wearing fighter crashed at his feet. The blue fighter lay crumpled and battered with prominent purple bruises in any visible area, but Gohan wasn't done. He picked him up by the collar. "I tried to be nice. I tried to give you a way out, but you spit at my peace offering. The pain you are feeling now; that was by your own decision, so I will ask one more time and this time you will answer; who are you and what have you done with my friends?"

Defiant as ever even in the face of his doom, the blue-skinned fighter smirked a bloody smile, "You can kill me if you wish, but it won't change the fact that soon your friends and everyone you know will die at the hands of my Master. Master Bojack will avenge my fall."

"Bojack eh? Alright let's go have a word with Master Bojack," Gohan replied with a mocking tone on Bojack's name. The young saiyan gave his foe one last hook effectively knocking him out. Gohan held on to his collar and began flying towards the other signatures. He blasted through the barrier of each battlezone making a linear path to the others.

After blasting through the final barrier he could see what seemed like a city in ruins. Below he could see Krillin and Trunks stacked up in a pile.

"Bujin?"

Gohan line of sight went from his fallen comrades to another two blue skinned people in similar garbs. One was a female with long orange curly hair, and the one that spoke was a man with an orange Mohawk.

"So, your name is Bujin?" Gohan asked the unconscious body he held. "Well it's nice to meet you," he said with a chuckle as he tossed the body forward towards his comrades.

Two other pods passed over head and out of them came Tien and Yamcha. They landed with a thud on either side of Gohan.

"Are they alright?" Tien asked referring to Trunks and Krillin, his eyes never leaving the two blue-skinned enemies.

Gohan's darted in Tien's directions momentarily before returning to the ones in front. "Yes, just unconscious from what I can tell," he responded.

Any further conversation was stopped by the sound of loud steps approaching. The steps echoed along the ruins of the city, and the sound of metal jewelry clattered with each step.

Both blue skinned foes kneeled on either side of the corridor behind them, and the source of the booming steps.

Bujin, who was shaking his head to clear any remaining ringing, also heard the steps and immediately shifted to a bowed head kneeling position.

From the shadows a menacing voice could be heard and it said, "Company …good."

"It's been so long …since I snapped someone's neck," boomed the jacket-wearing, blue hulking alien.

"Bojack, I presume," Gohan announced casually.

The Mohawk haired individual glanced up and bellowed, "Watch your tone little boy. Be mindful as you are speaking with Master Bojack; a man with no equal."

The only female stood up and added, "The universe is littered with the bones of those who thought otherwise."

"He and all of you are nothing more than simple murderers," Tien snapped.

Bujin replied, "This planet belongs to my Master. He decides who lives and who dies now."

"Not while we are still breathing," Yamcha scoffed.

"Master isn't known for being so patient or forgiving. It's best if you stand down… or better yet… kneel," Bujin smirked from his kneeling position.

"We'll pass," Yamcha retorted.

The smirk that Bojack held since his arrival slowly turned to a frown. He looked towards the Mohawk haired fighter to his left, "Bido;" then looked towards the only female, "Zangya," and finally his eyes returned to the earthling fighters in front. His arms were still crossed across his chest, but his chin pointed slightly forward.

"Get ready guys because it seems like the time social hour is over," the ex-desert bandit remarked.

Tien and Yamcha immediately powered up as the three space invader dashed towards them, but Gohan was finding it slightly harder to summon his Ki. His internal energy once again was proving to be resistant to his calling. Finally, Gohan screamed as the white aura encompassed him through sheer force.

Tien flew at the small turban-wearing fighter and tried to intercept him with a kick, but sorely missed as the smaller fighter jumped over the leg and got behind him. The bruised blue-skinned fighter elbowed the back of Tien's neck.

The three eyed fighter stumbled forward but caught himself before he landed flat on the ground and instead landed on all fours. He hopped to the side as the Bujin's foot crashed into the ground where Tien's head used to be.

Yamcha, who hadn't taken his eyes off the female that was approaching, waited as she got closer. When she was within kicking distance he threw his foot forward to catch her from under, but was blindsided from the side by the orange Mohawk haired alien. Yamcha unwillingly flew after across the battlefield going through walls of the ruin town, as the female remain in pursuit.

Bido made a dash to follow, but he was cut-off by an uppercut from the third member of the Earthling Defense Force. A panting white aura Gohan walked towards the downed tall blue-skinned alien.

Tien blocked the series of punches the small fighter threw to the best of his ability, but for every three he blocked one got through. The ex-Crane school alumni waited for his opportunity and finally found it after the Bujin pulled back his arm. Tien quickly interlocked his fingers behind his opponent's neck and brought it down as his knee rose up to meet Bujin's face.

Bojack looked on with a laugh as he saw his servant dispatching of those that thought to stand in his way.

Bido and Gohan flew into the air to continue their melee. They threw anything and everything from physical attack to Ki-based attack to overpower the other. Gohan tried to pull for more Ki, but he seemed to be hitting a ceiling and couldn't quite get past it. His momentarily lapse in concentration in the end bit him as Bido came down from above and landed his boots in Gohan's cranium. The young saiyan crashed into a building down below.

Bido looked down at where his opponent landed. His eyes drifted away towards where the other fights were happening. With no opponent he flew down to join one of the current battles.

Tien kept pulling his opponent into his knee repeatedly. He exhaled loudly as he finally released the back of Bujin's neck and allowed him to fall back to ground. He stopped as he considered his next move. The motto was to not take prisoners, so he steeled his heart and strengthened his resolve as he prepared to end the small blue fighter. Still, he chose to give the small fighter an out, like the one he had been given long ago, "Give up, and I won't have to end you."

Any response was cut by the explosion of a nearby building as Yamcha and Zangya came flying out of it. Their punching frenzy had yet to cease as they kept attacking one another and paid no attention to any surroundings they encountered. Zangya spun kicked, but Yamcha managed to block it with his forearm and jabbed at her exposed midsection, sending her back.

Tien looked back at his opponent, after the distraction from the other fighters, only to find him standing with his arm forward. Bujin gritted as he closed his fingers and pulled his closed fists towards him. The three eyed fighter got into a new stance as he tried to make sense of the small blue fighter's action. He looked in both direction, but didn't see anything until a large slab of crumbled wall crashed into him from behind.

Tien closed his eyes as he took a couple steps forward, but then felt something land on his upper back with a force enough to push to the ground.

Bido chuckled after nailing the bald fighter from above. He picked up the fallen warrior by the neck and lifted Tien up to eye level as he kept pummeling the earthling's gut. Suddenly a Ki blast scorched Bido's back as he released the bald earthling. Tien landed on one knee and threw both hands with a Ki in each forward and blasted the tall blue fighter back.

Bujin looked to his right only to see an extended hand grip his skull. Through one opening of his opponent fingers he saw the onyx eyes of the young saiyan; while a little bloodied he seemed to be snarling.

"Hello again Bujin, up for a ride?" Gohan sneered as he flew through a couple buildings with Bujin extended in front to break through each cement slab they encountered.

Zangya finally managed to catch Yamcha's arm and didn't let go. Yamcha kept pulling to no avail.

"You're going to have to buy my dinner if you want to keep holding my hand," Yamcha jeered.

Zangya snorted before using her other hand and bringing it down on the held arm of her opponent. Yamcha screamed as he felt the breaking of his forearm's bone. He yelled as the pain rushed through his whole body and small tears formed at the edge of his closed eyes. The former desert bandit landed on his knee clutching his broken limb. "Yo-You witch," stammered Yamcha.

Zangya looked down at the hurting kneeling earthling. Her revulsion was clearly visible as she almost kicked Yamcha's head off. The scar faced bandit landed a few meters away, but this time he was unconscious. His limp bent out of shape arm laid on the ground beside him.

"No! Yamcha!" yelled Tien from where he was. His attention had been drawn to the other human fighter after Yamcha's unholy wail. He tried to rush to his aid, but was blocked by the smirking Bido.

Tien's roar got the attention of Zangya, and she flew towards Bido and the bald fighter. The blue beauty had yet to see Bujin, but figured he must still be fighting the other short earthling in purple garbs.

Bido and Zangya teamed up on Tien, so he tried to push either one away as he quickly attempted to take down at least one of them out. Eventually Tien felt as if he was a large ball being passed between both of them as they kept punching and kicking him in every direction he turned to.

As he unwillingly flew towards the male of the duo, he prepared himself for another hit, but he passed the area where the tall blue fighter used to be located and landed on the ground. He tried to push himself off the ground, but he was too weak from all the hits and could barely keep his eyes open. Still he pushed himself enough to turn and see Gohan floating behind him. The tall blue fighter was imprinted into a nearby wall with the small turban fighter across his midsection.

It appeared that as Tien flew towards Bido, Gohan had returned and decided to use Bujin as a projectile into Bido, sending both up against a wall. Tien smiled briefly before softly saying, "I'm …sorry Gohan." Tien's eyes rolled back and fell back down with a thud once again.

Bojack landed alongside all of his servants. Though some had bruise and showed some wear from the last battle, they all seemed in tip top shape to begin the next bout, and from their grins Gohan knew he was in trouble.

Gohan growled as he landed. He looked deep inside him and tried to push the barrier of his Ki to reach a higher plane. It was resistant, but Gohan felt as he raised the barrier ever slowly. 'I can do this… I have to,' he thought. His stomach growled, but Gohan ignored it as he had more important things at the moment than his hunger.

The tips of his hair began to sway as the white aura began to get small shades of gold in between. Gohan's irises flickered but always seem to come back to onyx. Red electricity began to form around Gohan once again, and like the many times that it has been seen before; it began to hurt Gohan again.

'I need more power,' Gohan thought as he spread his legs in a horse stance.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we do apologize for the inconvenience and the lack of communication," announced a ruffled Arata over the screens to both the people in the stadium as well as people watching from home. "About thirty minutes ago, someone who is not affiliated with the tournament entered the restricted area of the battlezones. There he committed a horrendous crime that we were not able to stop from transmitting. As such many people were exposed to the violent images of the fate of fighter Doskoi."

"At this very moment security is still trying to access the battlezones, but the exits and corridors seem to be blocked or destroyed. From Jimmy, everyone in Cash Inc., and myself, we want to extend our sincerest apologizes and our condolences to fighter Doskoi's family and loved ones. I understand the unrest of the people, but I do ask everyone to please remain calm as our security does its best to capture this murderer," concluded Arata.

Jimmy sat in his chair with a bag of ice over his left eye. "There are no words that could explain what must be going through the mind of that individual, but take comfort in knowing that he will be captured, and he will face justice. To the families of the other participant; as far as we know the others are still safe. I've been getting word that Mr. Satan is due to take charge against this murderer just as soon as he is done in the bathroom."

"How are they doing?" Bulma asked Chiaotzu since he knew how to sense Ki. She was still holding the struggling Pan under her arm.

The expression on the small emperor was grim. His eyes kept darting to Pan before meeting Bulma's. He shook his head.

"Let me go Aunty!" shrieked Pan. She knew she could tear herself away if she wanted, but that would mean hurting Bulma in the process.

Bulma strain to keep the little girl under her arm. The Capsule Corp. heiress knew there would be no way to hold Pan down if she allowed the little girl a moment to escape. Still, she managed to cover her ears with one hand on one side and pushing her head to cover her other ear with her side. She turned to Chiaotzu quickly and asked, "Tell me that at least the others are fine."

Chiaotzu blinked a couple of times as he looked down at his open palms. He noticed Tien's Ki had also fallen, but he nevertheless responded, "Yes they are fine for now, but Tien has also been knocked out. Gohan is the only one conscious that I can tell, but his Ki is acting up again… Oh no… they are ganging up on him. Damn it!" The small emperor clenched his fist as he sensed youngest members of their team once again fighting on his own to save everyone.

Pan stopped struggling momentarily. She had managed to avert one of her ears slightly and was able to hear Chiaotzu description of the events below; her Ki sensing was not up to par so she didn't know exactly what was happening. Her eye widened as she realized exactly how much danger her father was in. She never got to meet her parents in the future, and she would be damned if she lost her father after a week of meeting him.

"Damn! Does he have a chance to wi—" Bulma didn't manage to finish her sentence as Pan broke her restrained and began levitating. "Pan don't!"

"Sorry Aunty but Daddy need me," she shouted as she prepared to fly towards one of the opening to the battlezones her father and the others used to traveled when they left in their pods. Just as she was about to leave she was surrounded by a blue outline that froze her in place. She struggled to move forward, but she couldn't move even with all her strength behind her.

Bulma turned to the small emperor to her side; who was sweating as his hands were extended towards Pan. His eyes had been replaced with a similar blue glow. "It's a good thing she is still young, or this would have never worked. Still, she is pretty strong," Chiaotzu spoke between pants.

"How did you know this would work?" questioned Bulma.

"I didn't, but this was the only thing I could think of," the mime-like fighter responded as he brought his hand towards him, and pulled Pan, who was still struggling, back to Bulma's side.

Bulma wrapped her arms around the little girl when she was within arm's reach. "Pan…PAN!" she shouted at the resisting girl, "I know you want to go there, but your father is the strongest person I know. If you go, you might be used against him, and how would you feel if your Daddy got hurt because you decided to enter the fight!" she exclaimed. In a softer tone she added, "I understand you want to do something, but staying here is the best thing you can do for Gohan right now."

"Daddy! Daddy! DADDY!" Pan repeatedly yelled.

Pan at first kept trying to free herself of the psychic hold as well as her Aunty's embrace, but eventually she listened to her words. She sniveled as she realized that she would do her father no good outside being a distraction to him. She was after all Gohan's daughter, so she understood the consequences. However, because she was the daughter of her Gohan and Videl, she was stubborn and willing to damn those consequences in order to at least try to save him. Yet Pan knew that if she kept struggling she would not get a chance to free herself, so she steadily stopped resisting. The daughter of Gohan gasped as she stopped and allowed her aunty and Chiaotzu to hold her down.

Bulma exhaled as she thought her words were getting through to Pan. Chiaotzu on the other hand kept his hold on the chance that this yield was in fact temporary. He coughed as he kept his hold.

The people in the same vicinity of the trio edged away; especially from Chiaotzu.

The small emperor's head suddenly turned to a different direction.

"What is it Chiaotzu?" Bulma asked noticing his behavior.

Chiaotzu smiled, "Good news. It seems Piccolo finally noticed the battle. He is on his way to help Gohan, and…. and I'm not sure but it seems Vegeta is on his way as well. He is a little far, but I can barely sense him approaching; at least I think he is heading in this direction."

"Vegeta!?" Bulma exclaimed while tilting her head to the side.

A familiar purple Gi wearing Saiyan fell uncontrollably diagonally to the ruined city below. Gohan crashed onto the ground with a bounce followed by a series of rolls in the dirt until he finally came to a stop. He coughed and spit a little bit of blood. His whole body hurt in place even he didn't know was possible to hurt and all he wanted to do was curl up.

From the get go, the three aliens had coordinated their attack. At first he was able to keep them away, but slowly they chipped at his defense and eventually they took the advantage. Clearly Gohan could see that these three had fought together for a long time, given how well they predicted each other's movements and not a single moment was wasted. In fact he was surprised that they had allowed him a moment to catch his breath, but he guessed he spoke too soon as he heard the thud of three sets of boots hit the ground around him.

Gohan brought his arm over his partially exposed torso. He was bruised and bleeding all over, and his Gi was in tatters barely holding on to his body. He searched for the power he knew was there, but as before he came back empty. It seemed that he had lost control of his Ki once again, but this time instead of reaching uncontrollable levels it remained at a low level.

'What I would give to have that crazy power up once again. At least that way I wouldn't be getting my butt handed to me,' he thought bitterly. In every occasion before he tried to increase his Ki it would spike uncontrollably and he would have to try to reign in on the wild exponentially growing Ki, but now he could barely summon any of his powerful internal energy. 'The moment I need it to be wild… it decides to be tame. I swear I'm going to die if this continues.' Gohan turned to his side and spit out more blood.

"Break's over kid," Bido announced gleefully as he lifted the fallen Saiyan by the remains of his clothes. The smirking blue-skinned alien turned Gohan around and held him from behind in chock hold with his forearm against Gohan's windpipe. Gohan gurgled as he clawed at the forearm not letting him breathe.

The Mohawk haired alien turned to his small teammate and chuckled as he offered, "Bujin, how about you take your shot? I got him."

The small psychic grinned at the idea as he approached the gasping Gohan being held by Bido. This would be his revenge for what the young Demi-Saiyan had done before. The turban-wearing fighter got into position and began repeatedly punching the restrained Saiyan's midsection.

Zangya found a nearby rock and sat down as she watched the other two dissect their opponent. She kept an expressionless appearance as she looked at the young boy slowly being put out of his misery. Yet, he had been given the opportunity to stand down but he chose this path.

Bojack landed next to Zangya with a frown. He looked on as his lackey decimated this planet's last line of defense with a certain amount of insane glee. "He is not as strong as I thought he would be. I was sure he would be able to put up a better fight than this," commented a disappointed Bojack.

Gohan's vision began to darken with each hit. He felt as his body began to lose feeling and he was slipping into an unconscious state. Gohan fought that feeling as he knew that falling now would surely spell his demise. 'I can't … they are just too strong.' Gohan chocked after another hit. The red electricity began to climb up his feet. 'I won't make it… This… can't be the end. Please I beg of you, please listen to me or I will die,' Gohan thought as he referred to his Ki as if it were a separate entity, and to a certain degree it acted that way.

Gohan closed his eyes as he pulled deep inside. He found his internal energy and coaxed with all of his remaining strength for it to come, but he reached the same barrier once again. He began to push against the barrier again, and while it did not increase his power, a side-effect was triggered. A stronger red bio-electrical field completely engulfed Gohan and began to shock him. The only good thing that came from this terrible side-effect was that Bido and Bujin at that moment had contact with Gohan, and both were shocked alongside Gohan.

Bido released Gohan as he landed all four trying ride out his brief paralysis. The smaller blue-skinned Bujin was bouncing on the ground jolting as the red electricity encompassed his whole body.

Gohan was wheezing as he landed plainly on the ground. His eyes were somewhat glazed and mouth slightly parted. He laid facedown with his skull tilted to one side. There was no movement from him as he let the red bio-electrical do what it had done to him many times before.

Bojack's expression slowly morphed to a smile as Zangya stared wide eyed at the boy on the ground. Though the electrical bio-field had appeared before from the young boy, she didn't know it actually hurt the boy or anyone that touched him. She would definitely keep that in mind the next time they fought, but from the smile her Master was giving the boy that fight didn't seem likely to ever happen. She gave a dry laugh as she watched Bujin jittering in place. While Zangya wouldn't admit it to anyone, she was impressed with the boy's resilience.

"Well it seems there is still some fight in him," boomed Bojack. The hulking blue-skinned alien walked towards the downed Gohan, but was stopped when a corkscrew purple beam hit the ground in front of him. He looked up at the descending green skinned newcomer. He wore garbs similar to the boy, so Bojack assumed that this must be someone close to the boy.

Piccolo snarled as he got his first real look at the young boy he knew all too well. Ki could tell someone only so much, but to see the state of the boy made the usually calm Namekian see red. Piccolo had returned to Kami's lookout to wait out the end of the tournament, but he got a strong sense of dread that was immediately confirmed by Dende who was looking into the tournament. Dende had wanted to cheer on his friend, but when he announced what was really happening Piccolo dashed at full speed back to the island.

The former demon king didn't get the full story, but from what Dende provided, it seemed these were alien invaders and the new enemies. He looked around the field and saw the unconscious bodies of Goku's friends; although he noticed that Trunks was slowly getting up in the distance.

The Earth-based Namekian turned to the blue-skinned fighter in front who held a smirk the entire time since he had arrived. Piccolo cast aside his headpiece and lifted his heavy shouldered cape over his head and threw it as well. He entered his preferred stance as he stated, "If you want to get to him… then you must go through me first."

Piccolo's head turned slightly to speak to his downed protégé. "Gohan, are you alright? Can you stand?"

"Piccolo," responded shakily Gohan. "I don't know why, but I don't have control again. Ahhh!" Gohan slowly crawled to all four before falling back to the ground as the electricity intensified.

Piccolo frowned, "Gohan… GOHAN remember this is all in you, you have the control to stop this!" The Namekian turned back to the invaders just in time to see the previously two downed minion of the hulking blue-skinned foe were shaking off the effects of Gohan's temporary paralysis and returned to the sides of Bojack.

"So, you want to fight me," Bojack smirked.

Bido laughed, "Another one that doesn't know his place."

Zangya flicked her hair back as she remarked, "Soon he will understand what a terrible mistake it was to come here."

Trunks landed next to the fallen Gohan. "Oh no, Gohan!" he yelled as he lowered himself to one knee and laid a hand on the electrocuted demi-Saiyan.

"TRUNK NO!" shouted Piccolo but he was too late as the time traveler's hand came in contact with Gohan.

"Ahh!" grunted Trunks as he recoil his now paralysis arm. "Piccolo what is happening to him? We have to do something."

"I know, but first we have other things to attend to," the Namekian remarked, alluding to the threat ahead. "What is happening to Gohan is Gohan's fight alone. He must overcome his own demons. We can't help him, but we can protect him."

The son of Vegeta walked over to the line of protection Piccolo had enacted in front of Gohan. Trunks looked at Piccolo and saw the anger in his eyes. He shook his arm a couple times to make sure the temporary paralysis was gone for good. Trunks' arm trembled slightly but otherwise seemed to be in working order at least enough to fight. "What can I do to help?"

"I'll take on the big guy. You take care of the other three, and Trunks don't go easy on them. They are tougher than they appear," Piccolo disclosed when Trunks was close by in low tone.

"Don't worry." Trunks immediately jumped to Super Saiyan, "I fought one of them before, and I've seen the faster I put them out the better."

Piccolo nodded in the time traveler's direction and dashed towards Bojack with one fist held back.

Bojack chuckled as he flew back with an enraged Namekian chasing him.

The minions of Bojack made a move to follow their leader but were cut-off by a Super Saiyan who stood floating in front of them with his hands extended. "Your fight is with me."

"Very well," replied a snorting Bido while Bujin and Zangya snickered in the background. The evil trio jumped at the golden-haired Trunks, but the time traveler met them with Ki blast to Bujin and Zangya and a kick to Bido who was the only one to reach him.

Zangya was the first to recover and the first to fly back into the action. She tried to catch their new foe off-guard by attacking him from above, but her fist was blocked by teal-eyed Saiyan. His larger hands encompassed her smaller fist and Zangya was used as a bat against the incoming Bujin.

Trunks smirked as he watched the two blue fighters crash into a nearby building; the structure subsequently fell on them. His victory lap came to end when he was blasted from behind by a bloody-nosed Bido. The tall Hera-seijin grinned as he rubbed the blood from under his nose and he walked towards the Saiyan. After a couple of steps he began running at Trunks.

Trunks brought both of his hands forwards and expelled multiple blue Ki blast at the charging Bido. The Mohawk haired invader only batted the small blast in his way as he took one final step and instead flew at Trunk.

Once the time traveler realized that his blasts were being pushed aside, he abandoned his current attack and hopped up into the air. Bido barely missed the airborne Trunks. In order to change direction, Bido dug his soles into the ground to stop his momentum before jumping back into the fray.

The time traveler managed to catch the sneaking Bujin with a well placed elbow before flying in a different direction. He looked back and saw the Bido and Zangya on his tail. He flew in between the building trying to lose his tail, but was cut-off when a building burst off its foundation and slide in his way. He crossed his arms in front of his head as he crashed through the concrete wall and bounced a couple of times inside the empty room.

The small turban-wearing Bujin snickered as he dropped his hand to his side. The building was no longer being held by the small fighter's psychic hold so gravity took hold of the apartment complex once again. Dust lifted into the air when the structure buckled as it landed on the ground once again.

Trunks got up within the enclosed space and shook his head of debris. He heaved as he tried to figure out how the large apartment structure got up on its own and stood in his way. His pondering came to a halt as the feminine figure of Zangya entered the room, shattering through one of the windows. The glass shower had Trunks blocking his eye sight with his hand, but that was Zangya's intention as she gracefully touched the ground with one hand and pushed herself to continue her frontal flip to dig the soles of her shoes into the time traveler's sternum, ejecting him through a window on the other side of the room.

Bido laughed as he held a large purple ball of Ki over his head. Once he saw the golden-haired fighter exit the building he threw both of his hands forward catching Trunks and sending him back to the complex. Zangya managed to cart to the side avoiding the time traveler as he floated right by her and crashed into the building followed by an immense explosion.

All three floated above the ruins as they each prepared multiple Ki balls in each hand. Once the aliens were ready, they showered the soil below with their destructive orbs.

Not far away laid a hurt Gohan, still trying to stand up again. His bruise ached and his cuts stung as fragments of the dirty ground mixed with his closing openings. The red bolts had subsidized to a certain extent, but they were still prominent.

He felt the Ki's of Piccolo and Trunks fighting to the best of their abilities, but they were both losing. He dug his nails into the ground as began pushing himself off the ground once again. His eyes gave him a blurry image in front of him as he wheezed. After another strong shock he fell on his side and finally on his back.

'Piccolo said that I can control this,' he remembered. 'If that is true then I want this to stop now!' shouted Gohan internally, half hoping it would work, but in his heart knowing it wouldn't be that easy.

'Damn it why am I so weak.' In response the electricity intensified as if it was responded to Gohan's thought. "Aughhh!"

Once he stopped jerking on the ground he curled up slightly, but he heard someone walking in his direction. He turned slightly and immediately wished he hadn't as he saw Cell once again making an appearance.

"You never give up do you...?" Gohan chuckled through the pain. "I…thought I got rid of you… but I guess whenever I'm in this state you keep me company. Can't …you go haunt someone else?" he gritted.

The bio-android shook his head as landed his foot on Gohan's exposed midsection. Gohan involuntarily curled into his foot. "And what, miss the show? I think I'll pass as I like where I am right now."

"Today has just not been your day my dear Gohan, has it? There were a couple moments I thought for sure you had gotten rid of me, but in the end I guess you couldn't part with dear ol' me." Cell shrugged as he placed more pressure into Gohan's midsection while he saw the boy whither below his sole.

"Where is all the bravado from before!? The fighter I saw just few minutes ago that faced against these weaklings when you had your back-up dancer: Tien and Yamcha!" Cell roared referring to the weaklings as Bojack's minion. "Guess you can't do anything when you are on your own. Look at you crying like a little boy missing his mommy. It disgusts me to think that someone like you was able to do away with a creature of perfection like me." With each word Cell stomped on the fallen Saiyan again.

Gohan however was being covered with a stronger red bio-electric field with each second Cell spoke making him curl inward. He shook on the ground as bolts began to envelop the young Saiyan as his stomach protested its lack of nutrients. Cell kept screaming over and over, "You are NOTHING MORE THAN A WEAK BOY!"

The young world savior gasped as a mixture of saliva and blood leaked from his mouth. He tried to stop Cell's leg from stomping him again but it just fazed past his extended hand. 'I can't even stop him. I can't Piccolo; I can't control him or myself. Maybe he is… right.' He screamed to the high heavens as the bolts increased.

Gohan bobbed his head a couple times to lift of the ground once the lighting has calmed but to no avail. The young Saiyan who only a couple months ago had been Earth's savior against the diabolical Cell now could barely stand.

"Give up!" yelled Cell. "There is nothing left to fight for! End this pain!"

Gohan looked though his half-lidded eyes at the snarling Cell.

A rumble drew Gohan's attention from his tormentor to a different area. The demi-Saiyan with some difficulty turned his gaze to an area that was being flattened by Bojack's servants. He closed his eyes momentarily to feel for who's Ki was in that direction, and his eyes immediately shot open when he felt Trunks' weakening Ki.

"No…Trunks," Gohan quietly murmured as he pushed his body to regain some strength to try and get up once again.

Cell watched as Gohan slowly managed to stand on his own two feet. "It's over. He will die soon enough."

"Then I better not lose a moment," responded Gohan as he swayed back and forth. Without listening to whatever Cell had to say, he burst as much Ki as he could spare to essentially throw himself in their direction.

Gohan flipped in the air without control until he came to a stop near the ground blasting foes on one knee.

"What is your plan, you can't fight like this?" mocked Cell.

Gohan placed extended both of his hands to his sides and focused on summoning Ki from the reserves he knew were there. At first it was only a small ball but the more he pushed the bigger the Ki ball grew. The only drawback that the bolts increased as well, but Gohan pushed aside his personal issues to increase the size and power of both blasts.

Gohan's body shuddered but finally he drew one last breathe of air and brought both hands forward to combine both balls; which resulted in one large ball forming in between his extended hand and a large blast leaving his cupped hands towards the trio in the air. "HAAA!" he shouted.

Immediately Bido, Bujin, and Zangya cut-off their scorching Earth blasts to evade the approaching beam. Bido looked down at the kneeling young Saiyan and origin of the blast. He was about to charge at Gohan when he was kicked from behind sending him tumbling to the ruins he had created.

Bujin rubbed his burned shoulder, which he couldn't get out of the blast's destructive path in time. He saw Zangya also looking at him when they were bypassed in the middle by Bido falling to the ground below. They looked up and noticed a man with onyx flame-like hair in blue spandex floating in the air, while holding a sheathed sword in one hand.

Bojack landed a few meters away holding a beaten Piccolo by his Gi. He threw the green fighter forward and addressed the new arrival. "So little man, you're here to defy me as well."

Vegeta landed next Trunks; who was pushing himself from out of the rubble and no longer in his Super Saiyan state. "Get up Trunks," he gruffly chided while dropping the sword next to his son. He turned to the Bojack and nonchalantly replied, "So you're the big boss. You don't look so tough."

"I'll make you eat those words," responded a smirking Bojack.

Vegeta immediately exploded into his Super Saiyan state as he flew at the space invader. The two took to the air and began exchanging Ki blasts. Through buildings and towers, entire sectors of the city crumbled as these two fighters displayed their overwhelming power to one another.

Trunks had one eye shut as he looked at his father fighting in the distance. He saw the minions of Bojack were heading to help their leader, so Trunks decided to aid his father.

He didn't get far before he was met by a recovering Bido, and the battle between the invaders and Trunks resumed.

Gohan dragged his body to the unconscious body of his one-time Master. He reached forward and placed a hand on his exposed pectoral, unknowingly shocking and awakening Piccolo. "Ah sorry," apologized Gohan for the rude awakening.

"It's okay," answered the conscious Namekian. He stared up to the artificial sky above. "It's not like I can help that much right now."

"I know you said that I have the power to stop this, but everything I try doesn't work. For months I've tried but I don't have proper control of my body and as a result I've been nothing more than a burden," lamented the demi-Saiyan.

Piccolo coughed as he laughed, "You know for a while I was stumped as too why you were reacting the way you were. Why was your power going out of control; I asked myself but no answer came until I saw him. Cell, is just a figure that your mind created…" he heaved as he stopped to take a deep intake of air.

The Namekian continued, "For as long as I have known you, you have always had a problem with your own self-confidence, never believing yourself to be as strong as you are. Ironic isn't it, at least that is my thoughts since I joined Kami and got his memories, that one of the strongest if not the strongest warrior on Earth suffers from a lack of confidence. Cell is the representation of your doubt, and I don't know why it's him but it's him nonetheless.

"He only shows up when you have those dark thoughts and your doubt begins to cloud your mind. Do you want to know why your body is attacking itself? Tt's because it's responding to your will. That voice deep inside that keeps saying you can't do something." Piccolo turned his head to look at Gohan.

"Your mind and body are out of sync and you have lost your path!" Piccolo shouted. "The one thing I trained in you is your mind, but today I see it is nothing but shambles of what it used to be. You have no mission, no drive, and in the end you have allowed your deepest fears to control you!"

Piccolo grunted as he held his stomach. "Gohan, find your purpose, your reason for fighting and living, and I promise you that this problem will resolve itself. Find the balance between your mind and body. What is the one thing you fear the most losing!?"

Gohan closed his eyes, "I don't know Piccolo." The red electricity surged.

"You do Gohan, remember P—." Piccolo was cut-off by the wails of Trunks above.

"Trunks!" Gohan shouted as he saw him struggling against an invisible force while Zangya and Bido kept beating on him. He looked to the west as Vegeta involuntarily flew above and finally came to a crashing stop into a clock tower.

Bojack appeared to have undergone a transformation as his skin was now green and his hair was a bright red. He kept pummeling Vegeta as the tower cracked with each punch. Finally he unleashed a green Ki blast at point blank range, destroying the tower and everything in its surroundings.

Gohan watched as his friend was being pummeled by the two aliens, but he noticed something peculiar when he saw Bujin floating a little distance away with his hands extended. It didn't take long for Gohan to realize who truly held Trunk's captive. The young Saiyan fought through the pain racking across his body and made his way to the small alien. The demi-Saiyan gripped Bujin's shoulder transferring the red bolts surrounding Gohan to the turban-wearing space invader. Bujin's screamed drew the attention of the other four.

Bido and Zangya let Trunks fall to the ground below as they went to help their ally.

The hybrid allowed Bujin to fall as well while smoke trailed off of the grounded Bujin. He looked as Bojack, Bido and Zangya landing in front of him. He exhaled as he allowed the red bio-electrical field cover him. He grunted as he felt the bolts burn run across his body.

"I will to stop you and end this battle once and for all," announced Gohan as he swayed, trying to keep his eyes open. He yelled to the heavens as the familiar golden aura surrounded him. The intense gust emanating from Gohan lifted the recovering Bujin and sent him flying in a random direction.

Gohan's gaze returned to the enemies in front of him. His teal irises glared holes at the smiling foes. A few bolts of red electricity still surrounded Gohan even though he had finally reached his Super Saiyan status. His aura would briefly flare before flickering out. It would repeat the process over and over, but Gohan maintained the physical changes his transformation brought throughout all this.

"This is getting pathetic. You're still too weak," spoke Cell from his side. "Can you really make a difference when you can barely keep this transformation up?"

Gohan ignored Cell for the time being. He jumped from his location and dashed towards the blue enemies. He landed his red sparked infused fist in between Bojack's eyes. The hulking leader stood his ground and didn't move even though he had just been hit.

The small demi-Saiyan's eyes widened at the lack of reaction by his opponent. Immediately he was clipped by an uppercut courtesy of Bido, who stood by his Master. Zangya followed it up by teleporting into Gohan's flight path and taking her interlocked fingers to slam him back down.

She recoiled a little from coming in contact with Gohan. This feeling passed fairly soon after and she rushed back down.

Gohan managed to evade Bido's next hit and jump over his shoulders to stand behind him. The Super Saiyan elbowed his spine drawing a scream by the space pirate. Gohan rolled forward as Zangya returned to the frenzy, and Gohan managed to prepare a small ball of Ki in one hand and launch it as soon as he was vertical once again. It was nowhere nearly strong enough to hurt Zangya but enough to push her into the recovering Mohawk haired ally.

Bojack sped in front of the small fighter and kicked him into the air, and immediately caught his foot to slam him back on the ground with a bounce. Bojack picked up Gohan by the neck and pressed a large Ki ball into his midsection. "Die!" he shouted as he released his hold on Gohan's neck and watched as his attack took the gold haired child a couple meters away to explode.

"Gohan," Trunks tried to shout but was to weak properly reply.

A scuffled Bujin landed alongside Bojack. Zangya and Bido kept shoving each other while screaming that the other got in their respective way.

"Quiet!" roared Bojack as he watched for any movement from any of the fighters. For the first moment since their arrival to the battlezones everything was silent.

Bujin kneeled before his leader and remarked, "Master, with all due respect it's clear that this planet has nothing to offer in terms of fighter. We have faced their best, and they provided little to no entertainment, so why not finish them off for good so we may scour the universe for a more worthy adversary of your immense power."

"Aren't you saying that because you've been the punching bag throughout the whole fight?" interjected a chuckling Zangya. "Besides this planet has offered us fighters that don't break after one little touch." She inspected her nails all the while.

"This has nothing to do with that! I'm merely stating that this place has outlived its fun. Or, are you blind to the fact that no one is standing?" Bujin rebutted while waving his hands to the battlefield of mostly unconscious Z-fighters.

Bojack decided he heard enough but before he could speak up a shift in rubble drew his attention. Within second he saw gold haired Gohan emerging from the debris. His smirk reignited as he watched the boy stand once again.

"Tougher than I thought," Bido remarked. "Master, I think it's time we put this one down for good."

Bujin looked shocked at the standing Gohan with his head tilted to the ground. The golden aura wavered and the red bolts still emanated from his body.

Cell laughed and every second his laughter grew louder. "That was it? That was all your power? I barely counted a few minutes before you were kissing the ground again. Face it Gohan, you don't have the strength to stop them. These blue buffoons should be a walk in the park after facing someone like me, but here you are struggling to stand."

Gohan snarled but didn't comment. The static grew as he slowly let his doubt begin to take a hold. 'There has to be a way to get control. Something is missing; somehow I was able to regain control a while back, but what is different from Udo's fight to now?'

He noticed a surge of Ki in front of him. Gohan opened his eyes and noticed all four of them pointing at him with one finger extended. Small red beams formed in each of their fingertips. The young demi-Saiyan watched as all four beams rocketed to him. He extended his palms outward to enact a circular barrier as all four blasts hit the surface trying to penetrate it.

"Oh, and what exactly is your strategy? No one is coming to help as you can see everyone is knocked out. Just let it go Gohan and embrace your end. Trust me it's not so bad," Cell jeered floating in front of Gohan's line of sight.

"Listen I know you won't believe me, but I'm trying to help you realize what you knew all along! I know deep down you want to stop this endless fight, and what better way to end the battle then by passing away. You were robbed of your childhood and forced to fight wars that didn't pertain to you. You can finally be at peace and free of the fights."

Gohan focused on keep that beams at bay, but if someone were to measure the size of the globe then they would notice a small decrease.

"There is a little part of you that wishes you could return to before all this got out of hand. A piece that wishes you never had gone to Kame Island that faithful day where Raditz would appear."

The shield generated by Gohan grew smaller. His golden aura began showing black flames as well intermixing, becoming ever more prominent with each second that Cell kept talking.

"Often times you wonder how different you could have lived if you had just stayed home and never joined the battle with the Saiyans or any of the battles that followed! And really when you think about your contribution to those battles it's quite clear that all the sacrifice was for nothing! All those hours training did little to no good when facing an opponent. You never did much, and anyone else could have easily taken your spot and there wouldn't be a difference. Face it Gohan, we both know that this entire struggle to be the next protector is simply to find meaning for all sacrifices from before; to prove that you are not weak, but we both know that you are, both mentally and physically."

"Get out of my head. I have no such thought!" shouted Gohan as he finally noticed the significantly shrunken barrier. At this point it was only an outline around his body.

"It's one thing to feed your bull to someone else, but I am you, I know you! You can't lie to me! The reason you'll never be a successful protector is because you know in the end it will result in failure and people will die because of your weakness… oh wait, people have already."

For a moment the last image of his father flashed through his mind. This brief lapse was enough for Gohan to drop his extended hands as the small barrier diminished and lose his hold on his Super Saiyan. The four beams, that had been kept at bay this entire time, finally got through and Gohan was impaled with each entering as exiting though his back.

A glazed eye Gohan fell as the wounds in his right shoulder, left pectoral, left upper thigh, and abdominal leaked the red fluids of life to the dirt under him.

"That's it, let all your frustrations go and embrace your end. At last you can be free."

Dear i'm iam,

I understand your skepticism. In normal circumstance even at his weakest, Gohan should not have been hurt by Udo. However I chalk it up that Gohan is not in an ideal place. His power has proved to be unreliable and while he is trying to control it, he opened himself to an attack by a human. Remember Gohan is trying to lower his Ki output near zero to regain some control, and at this point even a basic human can hurt Gohan. This chapter explores what happens on the other side of the spectrum, when Gohan is trying to summon his Ki but it won't come out at all. It's just not listening. At this point Yamcha could defeat Gohan, but you have to be wary of a sudden influx of Ki from Gohan that might change the outcome.

Dear pir84lyf,

Well you're right that Cell has returned, but we will see in the next chapter if Gohan see Cell within Bojack or not.

Dear Lightningblade49,

I'll be honest: I love stories where Gohan breaches SSJ3 in this fight, but I don't think it will happen in this story. I'm saving SSJ3 for a different moment but thank you for the idea.

Dear dapmitidp,

Well I'm glad you liked that moment with Vegeta. I wanted to explore the reasons why Vegeta might have returned to fighting; after all in canon he stated that he was a fighter no more after Cell. Thanks for the encouragement.

Dear palazard95,

Actually Arata is not the announcer guy. I just wanted to include a human that believes in Ki, separate from the canon characters. Arata represents a small minority of regular humans that believe in Ki, which will be an element better emphasize in the next few sagas. Personally I believe that not all people of the DBZ world believe that Ki is a simple trick and I will be giving this group a voice in my story.

Hahaha I guess the Vegeta scene is not for all.

Dear 99913,

I'm sorry you feel lonely, but I'm glad I motivated you to update. You know you can always contact me anytime. I will be checking out your stories in the next few days.

Dear Guest,

I will try to include more techniques, but I kind of suck at writing fight scenes so I apologize if I forget those forms.

Dear Aaron Leach,

Thank you as always :)

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much.

Dear KiwiS92,

Well at least Yamcha lasted longer in this fight. Still, he fought bravely but just couldn't go on. Gohan seems to be falling deeper, but now at least he knows the key to his mental limiter. We'll see in the next chapter what happens with that information. Chichi and Gohan will have one final heart-to-heart, but there is still a little way before we get there.

Dear zZ Sky Ninja Zz,

Chapter 10, we get our first glimpse. She will become more relevant as we get closer to the high school saga.

Dear jigentou,

I pretty much responded to these reviews in a PM. Overall for anyone else, I do understand I was harsh with Chichi initially but it was a needed evil in order to progress the story as it has. However in more recent chapters we are starting to see a change.

Dear Taeniaea,

Thank you very much.

Dear A,

I hope you like this chapter as well, and I'm sorry it's so late.

Dear wheathermangohanssj4,

I appreciate your criticism of my initial use of Chichi. While I do, in retrospect, feel that I may have gone overboard with her, this is one of the two Chichi's we see most in DBZ fanfiction. Also Chichi in canon IS a hot-head, so to a certain degree I could see Chichi doing all she did in my story, as part of the canon universe.

Referring to Gohan, nowhere did I saw that Gohan would only focus on training. In fact my preview clearly states that Gohan is juggling father-duties, studying, and training. You're right, Gohan is too smart to waste all his potential on training only, but he is also smart enough to know that the fight for Earth would not end with Goku's death. When someone use the 'too smart to train' argument for defending why Gohan doesn't train, all I say is the same thing can be applied for why Gohan would train; he is smart enough to know it won't end with Goku. (Let me know if my words make sense to you. Sometimes I write and I think I'm being clear but that is not the case according to some people. If you need any clarification just PM me.)

Dear The Fantastic Altruist,

Oh you know there is some wounded pride in that lamentation by Vegeta. Also some belated realization hahaha. I just couldn't help myself.

Dear dragonDraw,

Thank you very much.

Dear Squasher,

You and I pretty much dissected this topic in PM, so I won't repeat the long messages. Still I thank you for reviewing as always.

Dear eroticlad11,

I'm glad you like my story so much. I hope to have your continued support in the following chapters. Thank you :)
