Spyro watched the swinging blades of the course nervously, it had been a few hours since he and his friends had started training, they had moved to one of the training islands so they wouldn't get weird looks from the others after Trigger Happy got a little too excited with training. He turned to Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy who were both standing there waiting for him to go.

"So um...why can't I just fly over or touch this course again?" Spyro asked as he watched Gill Grunt toss the timer over to Trigger happy.

"Cause that would be cheating, we don't got wings or fire breathing." Gill Grunt replied simply. "And also, what if you don't got your wings, or if I don't have my trusted harpoon, you gotta learn to fight without your weapons or abilities in case that ever happens."

"Well sucks to be you two, my two beauties never leave my side." Trigger Happy said as he hugged his golden guns, giving them both a kiss, Spyro and Gill Grunt gave him confused looks before looking back at one another.

"Yeah I know you never stop talking about stuff like that, but I'm Spyro! The coolest dragon in all of Skylands!" Spyro said as he stretched his body and looked at Trigger Happy. "And I'll prove that I don't need wings to be awesome, hit it TH!"

Trigger happy nodded and held the timer. "Three...Two...One...Go!"

Spyro quickly ran through the course, clumsily dodging the blades and saws, jumping over obstacles and moving out of the way of swinging bags, he was about half way through the course when he turned to look at Gill Grunt with a cocky smirk.

"See? Told you, I'm the coolest dragon in all of-" And with that he was smacked in the face by one of the swinging bags, this caused a domino effect with Spyro getting hit by the remaining traps of the course. "OwowowowOW!"

Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy would wince every time he got hit by the traps, starting to feel a little bad for him.

"Should we help him?" Trigger Happy asked watching.

Gill Grunt thought for a moment. "Hmm...nah let him suffer for a bit." He said as he watch Spyro get his karma.

Spyro finally stumbled to the end of the course and fell face first to the ground, groaning in pain. Trigger Happy looked at the timer and realised.

"Ah crud I forgot to press the button, could you run though the course again?" He asked.

Gill Grunt did his best not to burst out laughing as Spyro slowly raised his head and turned to look at them with a annoyed look. Before Spyro could punch them in the face, they heard Eon's voice echo around them.

"Spyro! Please make your way to my office!" Eon voice said, causing Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy to look at Spyro.

"Oh great what did you do this time" Gill Grunt asked Spyro, who shrugged.

"Hey don't look at me, I didn't do anything." Spyro replied as he stood up, rubbing his snout. "Be right back." He spread his wings and took off to the academy.

In Eon's office

Eon looked out one of the window of his office, gazing at the skylanders wondering the campus as he waited patiently for Spyro as he let his mind wonder. His train of thought was derailed when he heard the door knock.

"Enter." Eon said simply

The door open and Hugo walked in with the package, the mabu made his way to Eon's side

"Sir I have your package, and his 'awesomeness' Spyro is also waiting outside as you requested." Hugo said that last part sarcastically as he held up the package to Eon.

"Go easy on the lad Hugo, it's not easy, it's not easy growing up an orphan, we're the only family he has." Eon told Hugo as he carefully took the package off him.

Hugo just nodded and went to get Spyro. As soon as he was gone Eon carefully opened the package. Inside was a wooden box about the size of a music box decorated with ornate designs on the sides, on the top of the box displayed the eight elemental symbols. Water, Earth, Fire, Wind, Tech, Life, Undead and Magic. He carefully opened the box and looked at the contents inside. He gave it a somber and worrying look.

He was about to take it out till he heard the sound of wings flapping closer. He quickly closed the box and hid it in his beard.

"Ah my main man, Master Eon!" Spyro flew straight into the office, he circled around him for a bit before landing in front of him.

"Have a seat please." Eon said simply, which Spyro does so. "Could you please explain why I heard that in this month alone you failed the training courses three times Spyro?"

Spyro knew what he meant and laughed nervously. "I-I can, so you know how Gill Grunt won't stop talking about how important it is to train and stuff, well he talks so loud and it's hard to do it when he..."

Spyro stopped when he saw the disappointed look on Eon's face, the old portal master knew when he was lying, he did raise him after all.

"...I...I haven't really been focusing on training..." Spyro admitted, looking down ashamed.

Eon sighed softly and motion Spyro to follow him. "Spyro, you are on the verge of becoming a Skylander, the protectors of this realm, its a massive responsibility. Soon you'll be part of something much bigger then yourself." He made his way to the book shelf. "Let me show you something."

Eon lifted the statue of his head up, causing the book shelf to lower revealing...another book shelf? Spyro gave Eon a confused look. Eon then pressed a small red button that was on one of the books, causing a scanner to appear and scan his beard. After a few seconds it beeped.

'Facial hair identified. Welcome Master Eon.' A robotic voice spoke, and the second book lowered revealing a staircase down. Eon motioned Spyro to follow him as he made his way down the stairs. Spyro followed the headmaster nervously down the stairs.

"Behold, the most precious relics in all of Skylands." Eon said as they made it to the bottom and came upon the relic room. It was filled to the brim with treasures from all over Skylands.

Spyro looked at it in awe and begun to explore. "Holy cow, if TH ever saw this he would go nuts!" Spyro said as he continue to look around, noticing relics from the old Skylanders. Giants, the Swap Force, even the Sensei's. Soon his eyes layed upon a book floating over a pedestal in the center of the room. Spyro looked at it in awe.

"No way! Is that..." Spyro turned to Eon, who nodded with a soft smile as he walked over and carefully took the book of the pedestal. "Yes, The Book of Skylanders." Eon answered as he carefully opened the book, flipping through the pages which showed the many hand drawings of pass Skylanders.

"Upon graduation every Skylander is drawn in this book by yours truly." Eon explains as he let Spyro see the pictures. "I've been looking forward to the day you would become a skylander, since you were a hatchling you showed so much potential, I knew deep down you were destined for greatness." Eon explained, causing Spyro to give a cocky smile. "However." Eon said sternly, and Spyro's smile quickly faded. "After you took the academy admission test and received one of the highest scores ever, your ego, cockiness and immaturity had grown so big that it has effected your training to the point that I'm worrying." Eon explains.

Spyro looked down again. "I really am trying, but I've already proven myself to be one of the best students! Even as a kid!" Spyro argued.

"But even when you were younger you put others in danger, remember the arkeyan robot accident with the Dragon Temple headmasters daughter." Eon argued back, Spyro froze when he mentioned it, he looked back down, visibly upset. Eon noticed and sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration. "It's my own fault for over-indulging you and filling your head with grandiose notions, Spyro." He said.

Spyro still looked away upset, Eon sighed again and put a hand on his shoulder. "You need to put your ego aside and start applying yourself fully, being a Skylander is a selfless and important job, it's about keeping thde balance in Skylands. I have seen what it can do to someone who lets their desires cloud their judgement and I don't want you to go down that path. Could you do this Spyro?" Eon pleaded. Spyro slowly looked up at Eon

"I...of course I can." Spyro said, trying to smile for Eon.

"Thank you, now I suggest you go home and rest up for the trial tomorrow." Eon told Spyro. "It is your final test tomorrow, and this time, bearly passing will not be good enough." Spyro nodded and flew out of the room, still hurt with what Eon had said. Eon watched Spyro leave, he shouldn't have said what he said but it was the only way he would listen. Eon carefully pulled out the wooden box from under his beard, he looked at it worriedly and sighed. "Not right now." He said to himself and hid the box behind some of the relics and left the room.

Kaos's guest castle

Glumshanks walked down the stairs of Kaos's guest castle, carefully carrying a try with a cup of hot tea on top. He walked into the plotting room and looked around. "um...lord Kaos?" He called out.

"I'm over here in the plotting corner!" Kaos shouted. Glumshanks turned to look at Kaos, who was looking over his bulletin board filled with many of his failed plots. "Ah, I see your are plotting another scheme. brought your scalding hot tea like you requested." Glumshanks offered the tea to Kaos.

"Ah! Why thank you Glumshanks!" Kaos smiled as he grabbed the cup and took a sip, after a few seconds he threw the tea right in the trolls face with a giggle. Glumshanks winced in pain and tried to wipe the hot tea of his face. "Well tossed sir. You seem to be in a particularly evil mood today, what's the occasion?" Glumshanks asked as he finished wiping off the tea.

"Oh why thank you for noticing!" Kaos said with glee as he turned back to the bulletin board. "I have finally formulated a plot to defeat those Skyloser's and that wretched Master Eon! Behold!" Kaos smiled evilly as he pointed to a picture of the book of Skylanders. "Are you beholding?"

"Oh yes, I'm beholding." Glumshanks looked at the picture unamused. "Let me guess your going to try to steal the book." He asked.

"Why yes Glumshanks! Every Skylander to ever exist is inscribed in that book, which binds their powers to it for all of eternity-"

"And whoever controls the book controls the skylanders." Glumshanks finished. "My you are on fire today!" Kaos smiled. "All I need to do is to get my hands on that book and I will finally prevail!"

"Right, but isn't the book hidden deep in the bowels of the academy?" Glumshanks pointed out. "Yes, except for one day a year, 'The Skylanders Trial'." Kaos said in a mocking tone. "Eon will have the book at the ceremony to sketch the new Skylanders, and that's when I'll strike!"

"Very well plotted sir." Glumshanks said absolutely bored out of him mind, thankfully Kaos didn't noticed. "You know it!" Kaos smiled wickedly end let out his well known laugh, proud of his newest scheme.
