'What the hell has happened to everyone? I figured the Gods would act differently towards me, but THOTH!?' Yui was internally screaming to herself as she ran back to her dorm room. 'It's just a dream Yui. You'll wake up and laugh at yourself for thinking that Thoth could be respectful to you without slamming you up against the wall at least once.' Yui blushed at her final thought as she made it to her dorm and shut the door behind her.

Melissa poked his head out of his house when he heard her enter. "Kutanagi! What are you doing here? You usually eat with the Gods during lunch."

Yui took off her shoes and stretched. "Normally I would but they all ran out and disappeared so I figured I would just come back to my dorm and stay until dinner. They are planning something again and I need to mentally prepare myself for whatever they cooked up."

Melissa laughed and hopped down on the floor to take her shoes. "It seems that whenever they make plans without you, something goes wrong. Trouble that lot is."

"Did you just figure that out?" Yui snickered and carefully placed her jacket on her desk chair before leaning back onto the bed with her legs stretched out to the floor. " I don't mind though. They are trying their best to do things the human way. Besides, it gives me a break." She smiles fondly and looks down at Melissa. "You can't deny that anything they plan without me is always a good time."

Yui shook her head and reached into the bag that rested on the floor next to her. She pulled out a Norse mythology book and her notebook.

"How much longer are you going to research the gods Kutanagi?" Melissa asked curiously as he scrambled onto the table where his house was.

"I'm almost done, Melissa. I just need to look into Norse mythology and I should be able to come up with a few more teaching strategies." Yui said without looking up from her book.

"Has your research come up with anything?"

She paused while turning a page with a sad smile towards her plushy friend. "Yes. From what I have read, Gods don't quite understand how to handle their emotions. Take Dionysus for example. He was a wanderer after falling in love. I asked Hades about it and he said that it was terrible. Apparently, whenever Dionysus showed up on Mt. Olympus he looked like he hadn't bathed and wore tattered mortal clothes."

"Really? I can't imagine he was the kind of God that would let himself go like that."

"I know. It seems that whenever they are faced with a stressful situation or have an overabundance they tend to act drastically. I would go as far as to say they are prone to being vindictive. Olympians seem to be the poster child when it comes to that kind of behavior."

Melissa crossed his arms and nodded. "I'm not surprised. After I was made not too long ago, I saw their attitude first hand. I wasn't privy to much information, but I saw how they couldn't seem to sit still."

A knock on the door summoned Yui to get up and open it.

"Yui-san!" Balder exclaimed as he threw himself at Yui to attempt a hug. Luckily, she stepped out of the way when he tripped and fell face-first onto the floor.

Yui exchanged humored glances with Melissa. "Are you okay Balder-san? Did you need something?"

Balder maneuvered himself into a sitting position looking embarrassed. "I..I'm fine. hehe. I was just wondering if you could help me study."

Yui smiled and shut the door before joining Balder on the floor. I'm more than happy to help you study. What happened to the other Gods?"

Balder's coy smile fell in annoyance. They went with Zeus and Thoth to handle something in the divine realm. It's nothing serious, just a precautionary measure. I stayed back so you wouldn't get lonely."

Yui smiled and nodded. "I guess that godly duties don't stop just because of school."

Melissa dragged over the bag that flew onto Yui's bed to Balder. "Whatever it is must be important enough to involve multiple mythologies."

Balder ignored the comment and got out his notebook while Yui went and did the same thing before settling in for an impromptu study session on the floor.

"Any questions Balder?" Yui asked as she looked up from her textbook.

Balder was giving her a strange look as if he was deciding if he wanted to ask something. He sighed and placed his notebook on the ground. "Yui-san, do you ever feel lonely?"

Taken back by his question she paused. "Yes, I do. All of the time in fact."

Balder seemed to relax and scooted closer to Yui. "Really? Even here?"

Yui nodded and placed her notebook to the side before turning her attention back to the curious God in front of her. "Not as much here as I do back home, but yes I do sometimes feel lonely. I am the only human here. While it's nice to have someone like Melissa around, it's hard to not have someone who understands the everyday life of a modern human. No offense Melissa."

"None taken Kutanagi!"

Balder cocked his head in thought. "How do you deal with loneliness?"

Yui sat back and crossed her arms and shrugged. "I daydream." Seeing how curious Balder seemed she sighed and continued on. "Sometimes I'll daydream about going out, having friends, participating with them. Most of the time, I'll imagine myself in some sort of adventure or story that I read. Time passes by quicker that way."

"...Do... Do you ever get lonely when... when you are not by yourself?" he asked nervously.

"Yes, I do."

"Wh... what does that feel like?"

Yui smiled sadly at the fidgeting God. "Like you are in a part of a room that I can't leave and others can't enter. Like there is a glass wall between me and them. You feel... Isolated."

Balder nodded and furrowed his eyebrows. "So I'm not the only one who feels this way then."

Yui sat up on her knees and hugged him. "No, you're not the only one that feels that way." Pulling back she looked into his misty eyes. "Remember, that no matter what you feel, there is always someone somewhere that feels the exact same thing as you do Balder. It's not just you."

He nodded. "As the God of Light, I naturally attract those around me. It's like they don't see me. They are too... blinded by my light to see me. I hate feeling lonely. I'm always told that I am so lucky to always be the center of attention whenever I walk into a room. I'm not lucky, I'm cursed. I feel ashamed of feeling this way when there are others around me that are completely ignored because of me."

Yui grabbed his face and forced him to look at her. "Do NOT feel ashamed for feeling something. You are a living conscious being Balder. You were created to feel these things."

Balder's eyes widened before he pulled Yui back in for a hug. "Thank you Yui-san. I wish you could always be with me. You make the loneliness go away."

"Balder, I promise I will always be with you." She pulled back and rested his hands onto her palms. "Even when I am not actually there standing next to you. I will be in your heart, Balder. Remember what I have taught you and you won't feel lonely."

Tears cascaded from his eyes as he smiled and nodded. "I'll remember that Yui-san. I will hold you up to that promise."

She smiled. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
