Khan was now leading Tails down to a room lower in the Sanctum. The room was very dark and it looked to be in ruin. Khan took a strand of fur from Tails and then moved to the centre of the room where he raised a cauldron covered in magical objects. Tails looked around "So, what is this place?" "The Sanctums' are all built at the intersections of cosmic energy currents. We weren't the first to seek them out. We're just the first to survive". Tails gulped "Well, I really appreciate you doing this for me, sir" "Don't mention it". He put a few objects in the bowl, then the hair and then he took out a small vial from his pocket and poured out a glowing orange liquid which seemed to melt the rest "And don't call me sir" "Right, sorry". Khan stood up straight "You ready?" "Yeah, I'm ready". Khan gestured his hands creating glowing ruins and then carefully moved his hands "Alright, in a few moments the entire world's about to forget that Miles Prower is the Prowl". Tails' eyes widened and he stepped forward "Wait, what?" "Don't worry. I've already excluded myself and the Chaotix" "Yeah, but what about my girlfriend. She already knew". Khan glanced at him "You let people know about your secret identity?" "Didn't you?" "I don't have a secret identity. Did the interns not clue you in". Tails started to panic "Wait, just exclude the others as well" "It's very difficult and dangerous to change it mid-casting" "Well, then stop. I didn't know you were gonna do this". Khan sighed and waved his hand making a circle surround the two of them "Alright, fine. There, your girlfriend will remember you" "Okay, but that's not all there's Ray". Khan's hands started to shake, and he had to contain part of the symbols into the bowl. He then made another circle "There, Ray as well. Now, let's not change the parameters of this spell anymore while I'm casting it" "But there's one more. My Aunt Bunnie". Khan was struggling "Tails, stop" "I can't just let two years disappear. Please, she's the last one" "STOP TALKING!". The spell broke apart, the two of them started to lift off the floor. Khan screamed, Tails saw the entire room break apart and crumble. They were now in a purple void "Okay, just everyone who knows Miles Prower should still know". Silhouettes of figures appeared in the distance.
Khan gestured his hands, a glowing crystal from a bowl near them flew towards him and he smashed it. It released a shockwave returning the room to normal and containing the pieces of the spell in a crystal. They both fell to the ground and Tails tried to comprehend what he just saw "What happened? Did it work". Khan was breathing heavily and looked angry "No. You changed my spell six times" "I didn't know" "Well, now you do. That spell was out of control. If I hadn't shut it down, something catastrophic could have happened". Tails sighed "Khan, listen, I am so-" "Call me sir!" "I'm… I'm sorry, sir". Khan leaned against the rock "No, I'm sorry. I should have told you about the spell. After everything we've been through, somehow, I always forget you're just a kid. Look, Tails, Forelock is not the problem. It's you trying to live two different lives. The longer you do the more dangerous it becomes. I'm sorry about you and your friends not getting into college, but if you couldn't get them to reconsider then there's nothing more you can do". Tails thought about what he just said "When you say 'Reconsider' you mean I could have called them? I could do that?". Khan had to contain his anger for a moment before he approached Tails "I'm sorry. Are you telling me that you didn't even think to plead your case with them first before you asked me to brainwash the entire world?". Tails nervously stepped back "Well, to be fair the brainwashing was your idea". Tails was suddenly outside and Khan very quickly closed the door on him. Tails quickly got on his phone and called Ash "Come on, pick up, pick up" "Hey, Tails. I heard about you getting denies. Sorry, man" "Ash, where's the MU mixer?". This confused Ash "Why?" "Because I need to talk to someone. I'm trying to get Barby and Ray a second chance at getting in". There was a pause as Ash considers "You fly me to school for a month" "A week" "Two weeks". Tails rolled his eyes "Three days and I'll tell everyone you're my best friend" "Deal. There's an assistant vice chancellor. You can plead your case with her" "Oh, great. Where is she?" "She left". Tails sighed "To go where?" "To the airport. You can still make it. She just left".
Tails now with his equipment minus the disguise flew onto a busy upper highway. He used his lenses to try and narrow down the car but "Hedgehog Network unavailable. Facial recognition unavailable". Tails grunted in frustration when he heard a news helicopter. He half-heartedly waves at it "Yeah, hi. I can see you". He lands in between two cars and runs down the line checking them all. One had two children who were shocked to see him "Mum. It's the Prowl" they waved. Tails smiled and waved back. He finally spotted her in a black car just at the cut-off. Tails took of his tool belt and made sure his fur was neat before running over. The woman was a red female echidna in a blue shirt. She was on the phone when reading Ash's book. Tails knocked on the window and politely waved "Hi". The surprised echidna hung up her phone and opened the window "Yes?" "Um, are you Miss Teri -Lu" "Yeah". Tails nodded "Hi, I'm Miles Prower" "You do know you're in the street, right" "Yeah, I'm sorry. I just… I really needed to talk to you, and I know you're on your way to the airport". Teri raised her hand stopping him "Okay, what's this about?" "Barby and Ray are the two smartest people I've ever met, and I'm the dumbest person because I let them help me, but if I didn't, millions would've died, so please don't let MU be dumb like me". Teri raised her eyebrows "MU is dumb?" "No, I'm saying, don't let MU be dumb. I mean, like the dumber version of me that wouldn't have let them help". Teri shook her head "You didn't rehearse that, did you, Miles?". Tails heard a car horn "Basically, what I'm trying to…". Tails started to get a bad feeling. He looked down the end of the highway. He jumps on top of the car and puts on his tool belt. People started running away as a strange high-pitched noise could be heard "What's going on!?". The highway started to collapse, he used his lenses and saw that the supports were getting destroyed by something "Ma'am, you should get out of the car. Everybody, get off the bridge!". Teri tried to go for the door, but it was blocked and the driver had already ran for it. A cloud of smoke rose from the destruction and Tails saw an unclear figure leap up onto the highway road. Tails got ready to fight whatever it was. The smoke cleared and standing their glaring at Tails was…. Eclipse the Darkling? "Miles Prower".
