The two entered the dungeon where Barby and Ray were waiting "Hey, guys, this is Scourge. But not like the one we have. Uh, Scourge, these are my friends. This is Ray and Barby". Scourge nodded to them before walking past. Ray nudged Tails "Do you know if I've fought him?" "I don't know, I didn't ask". Scourge looked around the other cells until spotting the one in the middle. Eclipse stared back at him "Scourge the Hedgehog". Scourge started to chuckle "I see Mephiles' latest lapdog is keeping up to expectations" he said sarcastically looking at the cell door. Eclipse didn't react, Scourge tilted his head "I may be disappointed, but I must say it's still an honour to finally meet you… Shadow". Eclipse clenched his fists which Scourge noticed "Oh, yes. I knew Mephiles' plans for you". Tails was watching them shocked "Wait… You're…" he pointed at Eclipse. Infinite watched "Shadow? Hm. I'm assuming you're not a genie here, then?". Eclipse looked back down at Scourge and then calmly to Tails "I would warn you against trusting this one, boy. He was once a servant of my master" "Not anymore. I've been helping the Freedom Fighters. I'm the one that killed you're Inquisitors". He looked down at the ground "I had just one thing left to finish" "You were never going to" Ixis said. Everyone turned to him, "What do you mean?" "I felt your life extinguish on Sandopolis". Eclipse's mind raced, why would Scourge go to Sandopolis and what would have the power to kill…? He looked up "Espio?". Scourge shook his head "No! That was all I wanted. I faced him, I was ready to strike and then…". He tried to remember "And then… I was here". Infinite laughed "I like it here". Ixis then looked to Eclipse "And you. The Force surrounds you like no other. I have seen your destruction many times over". Eclipse and Scourge were brought to silence. Infinite scoffed "Oh, please. I was at my greatest when I left. I was ready to kill Sonic, and the rest of his little band".
He glared at Tails "And then that traitorous hawk flew in trying to destroy my Ruby". He laughed at the absurdity "I shot him out of the sky and then…". He started to recall "And then… Jet started moving his foot and… Oh, I was about to die" "Told you" Gold Scourge said. Tails looked at him "And Khan saved you from the Metal Virus". Normal Scourge finally noticed his golden counterpart and looked like he was about to ask but decided against it. Before they could continue the discussion Khan appeared "Oh, great. You caught another one" "No, wait, Khan. He's not-". Khan sent Scourge into one of the empty cells. He banged his fist against the wall "What's happening? Tails!". Tails nodded to him "It's okay. You're fine". He then noticed Khan holding a strange cube with the glowing contained spell inside "What is that?" "It's an ancient relic. I've trapped your corrupted spell inside, and once I finish the proper ritual, it'll reverse the spell and send these guys back to their universes" "And then what? We perish?" Infinite yelled. Scourge pushed against the invisible wall "Let me out of here! Tails!". Infinite looked around the cells. Tails stepped closer "Khan, we can't send them back. Not yet" "Why?" "Well, some of these guys are gonna die". Khan sighed "Tails, it's their fate" "Come on, Khan, have a heart" "In the grand calculus of the multiverse, their sacrifice means infinitely more than their lives. I'm sorry, kid. If they die, they die". Khan clenched his fists and the cube shifted until full containing the spell. All the prisoners except Ixis were looking around their cells trying to find a way to escape. The Cube now had a button which Khan was about to press. Tails didn't even need a second to make his decision. He took his arm cannon and shot a rope at the cube. Khan stared at him "Don't", Tails pulled it towards him and then fired an orange blast at Khan putting him in the cell with Ixis. Ray gasped "What're you doing?" "Tails, you gotta go. Go!" Barby yelled. Tails flew out of the room. Khan stepped out of the cloud "This is why I never had kids". He easily walked out of the cell, Ixis tried to follow but he hit the wall.
Tails flew out of the building, but a portal appeared in front of him, and he found himself back on the street. Khan was standing at the door of the Sanctum with his arms crossed "Give me the box". Tails tried to shoot him again, but his cannon turned back to normal. He tried to take off again, but Khan threw a magical rope around Tails' waist. He pulled Tails back and hit him in the chest. Tails astral form shot out of his body. He looked down at his transparent body "Oh, Gaia. I'm dead". He saw his body floating in front of him. Khan could see him "You're not dead, you've just been separated from your physical form". He reached for the cube, but Tails' arm moved "What? How are you…" "I have no idea". Khan kept trying to grab it, but it kept moving "You should not be able to do that". Tails laughed "This is amazing". He wooshes forward and re-enters his body. He leaps back "That was one of the coolest things that's ever happened to me, but don't ever do that again". He started flying away, Khan chased after him on a cloud. Suddenly Tails crashed into an invisible wall and broke through into the special zone. He was suddenly falling out of the sky towards the city which sunk into a massive hole. Tails could barely fly; he had no idea which way was up.
He landed on the side of a building which started to shift by Khan's command. A train came out of nowhere and hit him making him drop the cube. He quickly pulled it back with his cannon and got on top of the train "What is this place?" "It's the Special Zone, where I'm in control". He made a gesture, the city disappeared, and the train was now flying across a canyon "Khan, stop. Can we please just talk?" "Tails, don't you realise that in the multiverse, there are an infinite number of people who know Miles Tails Prower? And if that spell gets loose, they're all coming here". Tails backed away "Look, I know, I get it, but we can't just send them home to die" "It's their fate. You can't change that any more than you could change who they are" "But what if we could? What if we could change their fate?". Khan raised his arms, the train multiplied and surrounded Tails. He fired at shot at the train causing a shockwave which broke apart the objects. The Cube started to fall and they both chased after it. Tails then looked around at the shapes "Wait a minute. Is that an Archimedean Spiral? This is just geometry. You can do geometry". Khan caught up with the Cube and caught it "It's over, Tails. I'll pick you up when it's done" he made a portal back to the Sanctum. Suddenly a line of rocks stuck together by goo started spinning around him. Strands of goo wrapped around him and he was rendered completely immobile "Hey, Khan, do you know what's cooler than magic". Tails hovered in front of him "Maths" "Tails, don't do this". Tails took the cube and Khan's staff "I'm really sorry, sir, but I have to try". He flies back through the portal before it closed trapping Khan.
