Barby and Ray were in Ray's apartment sitting around a table not saying anything as the TV reported on Bunnie's death. An older squirrel came over and gave them both cups of coffee. She then hugged Ray. Once she left, he checked his phone "Still nothing". Barby sighed and looked at the cube considering "I'm gonna press it" "What?" "I know he told me to wait but after what they did…". Ray leaned his head against the table with his right hand slightly touching Khan's staff "I just wish we could see him". A few sparks formed in the air in front of them which they both noticed "Ray?" "Yeah" "Do that again". Ray stood up holding the staff. He waved it in front of him "I just wish we could see him". More sparks formed this time almost creating a full portal before it disappeared "Okay". Ray focused "I just wish we could see Tails". A full portal formed and showed what looked to be an alley with Tails standing in the middle of it. Ray's grandmother walked in and gasped "Oh, my boy, you are magic" "Yeah, I am". Tails tilted his head looking confused.
Barby and Ray both waved their hands "Tails! Tails!". Tails ran towards the portal and jumped through but something was wrong. He looked a few years older, had a small scar on his cheek and he was holding the same weapon Eclipse had. Nana started to scream, Tails stepped back "Uh, hi". Nana grabbed a pillow, "No, no, no. It's okay. I'm a nice guy". She threw the pillow and ran away. Tails looked to the other two "Uh, hi". Barby could tell something was wrong "Who the hell are you" "I'm Miles Prower. Well, I go by Tails now. Something happened to me yesterday and I was just here". He looked around "I mean this makes the world between world's look normal". Ray and Barby backed away "This has to be because of the spell" "Spell? Don't tell you have Yagyu here". Barby looked back to the new Tails "Prove it?" "Prove what?" "That you're Tails". He shrugged "I don't carry an ID with me. Bit of habit from pickpocketing days". Barby grabbed a piece of bread from a basket and threw it at him hitting his chest. He sighed "Why did you just do that" "You don't have a tingle thing" "I do have a tingle thing, it's called the Force. It doesn't really work for bread". Barby picked up another piece and what was about to throw it but "Don't do it again" "Okay, fly" "I can't fly. I can do this". He lifts the bread out of her hands with the Force. Nana calmly came back in "Oh, could you possibly use that to get the cobwebs in the corner". Tails sighed and pulled the cobweb out of the corner, "Thank you". Tails looked to the other two "Am I in the clear" "For now". Ray turned to Barby "So I opened the wrong portal to the wrong Tails". Tails was listening and rolled his eyes at being ignored. Barby shrugged "I guess you just keep doing it until we find the real one" "Ouch" Tails said, "No offence". Ray nodded and turned to an empty part of the room and he waved the staff "Okay. Find Tails".
Tails narrowed his eyes "What's that?" "Shh" Barby said. Ray tried again "Find Tails. Find Tails". A portal instead formed behind him. They turned and saw another Tails step out. This Tails looked the right age but from how he was smirking they guessed this wasn't the right one either. He awkwardly waved "Hello. Uh, I hope it's okay, I just came through this…". He looked back and noticed the portal was gone "Oh, it closed. Uh, anyway, I'm Tails. I've seen you two". He noticed Nana staring at him "Hi, don't worry I'm a good guy". He then noticed Tails 1 "Wait, he doesn't look like…". The two watched one another and then at the same time "What's you're favourite… Mint Candy" they both grinned. Ray looked sceptical "Prove your Tails" "Well, I don't carry around ID with me. Bit of habit from my pickpocketing days". Tails 1 smirked "I just said that". Nana sighed "I'm going to bed" she walked out. Tails 2 clicked his fingers "What about this?". He started spinning his tails and he hovered above the ground. Ray looked satisfied but now had a different problem "So, what do we call you both? Cause this is going to get confusing". Tails 2 nodded to Tails 1 "Miles. Call me Miles". Tails 1 shrugged "Jun". Miles took a breath "Okay, back to why I'm here, this might seem kind of weird, but I've been trying to find your friend since I got here. I just have this sense that he needs my help". Jun nodded "Our help". Ray sighed "We don't know where he is" "And, honestly we're all he has left" Barby added. Miles nodded "Well, is there someplace that he might go that he has meaning to him? Like a place where he would go to just-" "Get away from everything" Jun said understanding all too well. Barby thought "Yes… Yeah, I think I know exactly where that would be".
Tails was sitting on the roof of the school staring out at the distance, his eyes still read and watery. Barby and Ray arrived, and both hugged him. They moment they did Tails broke down and he held them both. He started to raise his head "Tails, there's some people" "What?". They helped him up and turned him around and he looked up to see two figures above them. Tails immediately pushed his two friends back ready to fight. Miles and June calmly dropped down; Tails raised his hand "Wait! Wait, whoa! Stay there". Miles nodded "We're sorry. We understand what-" "No, please don't tell me that you know what I'm going through. She's gone. And it's all my fault. She died for nothing". Jun looked away and wiped his nose. Tails looked at the Cube Barby was holding "So, I'll do what I should have done in the first place". Jun stepped forward "Tails-" "Please don't. You don't belong here. Either of you. So, I'm sending you home. Those other guys are from your world's, right? So, you can deal with them. If they die, that's not on me. It's not my problem. I don't care anymore. I'm done". He trembled "I'm really sorry that I dragged you into this. But you have to go home now. Good luck". Tails reached for the box but Barby pulled away. Miles took a deep breath "My parents were killed. We were dirt poor, but some guys wanted what we had that day. I escaped, I lived on my own until I got help. I found a friend and eventually I found a whole family. I never got over it though. I just got good at hiding it". Jun held back tears "I lost… I lost a brother. He died trying to save us". His voice broke "I've never been able to forgive myself for that. But I managed to keep going and fighting. Because I already knew what it was like to be full of anger…". He glanced up ashamed "Vengeance. I hurt people. I killed when I didn't have to. But he taught me how to overcome it. I don't want you to make my mistakes. Because it never makes it better. It stays with you". Tails scowled "I wanna kill him. I wanna tear him apart. I… I can still hear her voice in my head". He sobs before getting control back "Even after she was hurt, she said to me that we did the right thing" "Maybe she didn't die for nothing" Miles said. Tails slowly looked back up at them and he wiped his face.
Tails was now in the school lab, he emptied a bag containing new magical objects "This is all I could get from the Sanctum". Miles took out another bag "I got everything on your list for Infinite". Jun nodded "Me too for Goldy". Tails looked through the equipment "Okay, I think I can repair Infinite's device but…". Miles nodded "I got my Scourge. My world had a cure for the Metal Virus". Jun looked worried "What if Ixis gets in the way. There's nothing to cure". Tails took out a familiar crystal "This. I saw Khan use it when we first did the spell. It seals any dimensional cracks within a small radius. The Force from your universe is leaking through those cracks. If we can contain Ixis in a confined space and then use it we can depower him until we send him back". Miles and June both nodded "Nice". Tails looked through the equipment "Okay, that means all we've got is…". He looked down at the stone on the desk". Jun took it "I got him" "What're you gonna do?" "You said that box is connected to the multiverse, right?". Tails nodded "Yeah" "I can show him a reality where he makes the right choice". Tails clenched his fists "Are you sure that's gonna convince him" "I don't know. But that'll be his choice". Miles nodded "Gotta try, right?" he said to Tails, "Right" "It's what we do". They all got to work; Tails noticed Barby watching him "What?". She pointed at the others "There's three yous". Tails nodded and then the strangeness of the situation finally hit him. He chuckled.
