Chapter 2: the hunt begins

Kate stumbled out of bed the next morning, made her cereal, and sat down. Her bow was laying there, if she didn't know any better she would say it was mocking her. She picked it up and went to put it in the closet. She placed it in the corner but something caught her eye, it was a large box of her old childhood things. There were quite a few memorable things in it, there was her old notebook that she would make little comic books in, her makeshift Hawkeye mask she made when she was ten, but there it was her old Hawkeye action figure. She searched all over the internet, Toys R Us, Walmart's and targets for one that looked as heroic yet kind as he did. What would ten year old Kate say to her, she would scream and kick after hearing what happened how after all her training she still failed, no not even failed she caused this. SHE CAUSED THIS. She got close to Clint and her mother hired a frickin assassin.

Kate grabbed her bow and rushed to the table. The napkin with Wanda's phone number was still there. She grabbed it and got ready to dial, a small part of her was hoping for a distraction.

Knock Knock

Kate looked to the door and had the realization that she had no one left who would visit. She walked over and opened the door wondering if it was Wanda. It wasn't. It was a blond man in his early thirties with a thin Goatee "um hi are you Katherine Bishop"

"Um yeah, please Kate works" she said "do I know you"

"Oh no sorry" he said holding out his hand "my name is John Walker"

"Huh" she gasped as she shook his hand "you were that new Captain America"

"Yeah was, but don't worry I assure you I'm not a threat"

"No no, I thought it was completely unfair what they did to you" Kate said with sympathy in her voice

"Oh Thank you" John said with a smile "ugh can I come in"

"Sure" Kate said letting him in

John sighed "I understand this is a touchy subject for you, but I was hoping you could answer a few questions about Yelena Belova"

"Ugh…sure, actually pretty good timing actually" she said taking a seat "are you hunting her down"

"Oh it's that obvious" he said sitting across from her "we used to work together, NOW HERE ME OUT" he said before Kate could yell at him "we both worked for this woman named Valentina, but Yelena went rouge to go after Barton, I've been ordered to hunt her down and execute her"

Kate calmed down "are you the only one after her"

"I'm the only one they have, me and Yelena were the only ones working for her at the time" John said "I have a list of potential locations she could hide out at, and so far you were the last person to see her and I was hoping you knew something that could narrow down the search"

Kate took a deep breath "you're not the only one anymore, I'm going to help you"

"That's noble, but I don't think it would be a good idea"

"Trust me, I should be apart of this" Kate said grabbing her costume out of the closet "and I have a friend who can help" Kate grabbed Wanda's phone number and began dialing "oh and I just want to say, thank you for knocking and not just appearing inside"

"Ugh you're welcome"

Kate and John entered the café to see Wanda waiting for them "Hey"

"I'm glad I got your call, my informant should be here shortly" Wanda said

"Oh Wanda -John, John -Wanda" she introduced them as they shook hands "John you said you had a list of possible locations or something"

"Yeah" he said pulling out a binder and showed Wanda

"This is good" Wanda said admiring it "you may have saved us months of searching, this… this could be over in a couple days"

"Quick mission, good" John said

Kate took a look at the binder "wait, all of these are overseas, do you guys have a plane we can use"

"No, but that's what the informant is for," Wanda said. She perked up when a woman entered and approached them

"Wanda, glad to hear from you" she said taking a seat

"Ugh guys this is Monica, she's a good friend" Wanda said "did you get the thing"

"Yes, access to S.W.O. satellite array and a fake passport, I'm sorry I didn't know there would be three of you" Monica said looking apologetically toward Kate and John

"It's fine I have my own passport" Kate said

"Me too" John said

Kate took a deep breath as she looked at the list of locations, she was actually going to do this. Avenge her idol. She didn't deserve this chance, but she caused this problem so it was up to her to try and make it better.

"So you really think you're going to find this magic carpet" Monica asked. Wait what was she talking about, magic carpet.

"We have too, the fate of the world depends on it" Wanda said, sending Kate a glance that said 'Play Along'.

"Good luck" Monica said leaving the café

"You didn't tell her" Kate said in an accusational way

"Yeah I doubt she would support assassinating anyone" Wanda said with a hint of regret

"It's actually considered international terrorism, but you know we're superheroes so it's justified" John said in a playful way. Kate sighed at this, she wasn't a superhero. She wasn't even close.

"So what's the plan" Kate said changing the subject "we use the satellite array to narrow down the locations"

"Yeah this should only take a second" Wanda said starting the process "if we just track her last known location and do a facial recognition search it…" she was interrupted "I guess it's finished"

Kate was getting anxious, when she was with Clint she could've just avoided the fight at any time but now if she followed them there wasn't any turning back.

"Ok this is good, there's only one place left" Wanda said revealing her screen, there was only one location left MADRIPOOR.

"Where's Madripoor" Kate asked

"I've heard of it, it's a criminal run city in southeast Asia" Walker said "not the best place to hide but a Black widow could pull it off"

The three of them made their way through the airport, they had just finished handing their bags filled with weapons to security.

"Kate you sure you don't have a private jet or something" John asked

"Hey I'm not ridiculously rich" Kate complained

While Wanda was turning in their boarding passes Kate noticed John stop in his tracks "what" she asked. John pointed to two guys talking to security, they seemed a little frustrated. Kate could have punched herself in the gut for not recognizing them right away, Sam Wilson and James Barnes. What were they doing here? "Ugh you get on the plane, I'll catch up" she said before walking towards the two of them and nonchalantly hung around them

"I'm looking for Wanda Maximoff, how do you not know if she's been through here. Trust us this woman is a criminal and we need to stop her from committing another crime" suddenly Barnes looked towards her, she needed to act fast

"Hey you guys are Falcon and the Winter Soldier right" Kate said igniting her inner fangirl, faking it was hard but "can I get a photo"

"Sure" Wilson said posing with her

Kate took the photo and walked away. Once she was at a good distance she sprinted onto the plane and found her seat. This could be bad, she didn't want to fight winter soldier or falcon, oh that's right he's Captain America now. They were after Wanda for some reason, granted they probably wouldn't hurt her but they might arrest her. Either way she wouldn't be able to help, even with John's help she doubted they could beat Yelena without Wanda. She already got her ass handed to her twice now trying to fight Yelena. Then again that's if they'd keep going, after all why would Barnes and Wilson allow Wanda's two allies to continue the objective. What if she would have to fight them? She didn't want to fight any of the Avengers, Clint's friends. The plane started shaking and they began to take off, she can worry about the two of them later. Right now they were on their way to Madripoor.
