Chapter 11: Strange Feelings
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm glad to see you all were blown away by my last chapter. Made me want to get this one out. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
Back on Coruscant, Shun was walking with Anakin, and Obi-Wan to the Galactic Senate.
"Whoa." Shun said looking at the giant building.
"Quite impressive isn't it? This is where some of the toughest battles in the entire galaxy are fought and settled without so much as a blaster getting fired." Obi-Wan said.
"We certainly don't have something like this back home." Shun said.
"Yep all these senators working the political angle trying to help win us the war." Anakin said.
"So I get that you guys are here because you have to report to them but why did you drag me along?" Shun asks.
"Because everyone is interested in the part where you cheated Hondo out of his ship." Obi-Wan said.
"Hey technically I didn't cheat. I just took away Hondo's cheat so he couldn't use it on me." Shun points out.
"So you cheated the cheater." Anakin smirks.
"I didn't cheat. I won fair and square." Shun said.
"Yet you still took the Millennium Falcon?" Anakin asks.
"Well yeah I wasn't gonna leave my prize behind." Shun said causing them to chuckle.
"Just don't make this a habit Shun. A Jedi shouldn't be one who relies on sneaky tricks." Obi-Wan said.
"Come on Master, he deserved it and you know it." Shun said.
"He's not wrong. He drugged us and locked us in a cell." Anakin said.
"Just be on your best behavior. Both of you." Obi-Wan said.
Entering the Senate, Shun looks in and sees a giant room filled with platforms.
"Quite a big room isn't it?" Looking down the hall, Shun sees Padma walking over.
"Padme, good to see you again." Anakin said.
"Yeah for once it's not you who's the big fuss." Padme giggles.
"You make that sound like a bad thing." Anakin said as they started walking down the hall.
"The Supreme Chancellor was very interested in meeting you Shun." Padme said.
"Who's he? The guy in charge?" Shun asks.
"Basically. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is the leader of the Galatic Republic. It's because of him we're still able to fight back." Anakin said.
"Oh so he's like a president." Shun said as the door opened and inside Shun saw Palpatine sitting down.
"Well hello Avatar. It's nice to finally meet you." Palpatine said standing up.
"Uh hi sir." Shun said.
"I must say I was impressed with the report your master gave. You proved to be quite useful." Palpatine holding out his hand.
Slowly Shun reached out to shake it and when he did he could feel a cold sting from Palpatine's fingers touching his.
"Thanks Supreme Chancellor." Shun said letting go. "I'm surprised you asked for me."
"Why not? I mean it's not every day I get reports of someone with your skills. Able to help two Jedi fight their way through a pirate base with no weapons is quite impressive." Palpatine said letting go.
"Well uh yeah that's just me. Being the Avatar helps out quite a bit." Shun shrugs.
"Shun has been a valuable asset. It's thanks to him we have Utapu as allies now." Obi-Wan reminds.
"Ah yes, I was very pleased to hear that they joined us. Is he your apprentice Master Kenobi?" Palpatine asks.
"Yes and while he still has ways to go, Shun is showing remarkable progress." Obi-Wan nods.
"Well young Avatar I think I speak for all of us when I say the Senate will be watching your future with great interest." Palpatine said.
"Thank you, Chancellor." Shun nods in acknowledgment.
"Just answer me one question. Are there others like you?" Palpatine asks.
"Sorry Supreme Chancellor, there can only be one Avatar at a time." Shun said.
"I see. Well Avatar, I hope we can meet again in the future." Palpatine said.
"Of course." Shun said.
"Well Chancellor, we best get comfortable we have much to discuss." Obi-Wan said as Padme led Anakin and Shun out.
As Shun walks out, Palpatine was watching Shun with an interested look in his eyes. Like Shun might be of use in the future.
"I think he likes you Shun." Anakin said.
"What makes you say that?" Shun asks.
"He said the same thing to me when I first met him." Anakin said.
"Uh huh." Slowly he looked at his hand then to the Supreme Chancellor's door. 'What was that?' Shun thought before shrugging it off.
As he turned a corner, he ended up bumping into someone and falling back.
"What have I said about being mindful of your surroundings?" Looking up Shun saw Jinora looking down at him.
"Master Jinora." Shun smiles as she helps him up.
"It's good to see you. Padme." Jinora nods acknowledging her.
"Hello Senator." Padme smiles. "This is Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker."
"Hello there, I've heard much about you from Shun and from Padme." Jinora said.
"All good I hope." Anakin chuckles.
"Well…" Jinora tilted her hand meaning so so.
"It's always nice to see a familiar face." Shun smiles before turning to Anakin. "She was my Airbending teacher."
"Yes so I can speak from experience when I say you Jedi are going to have your work cut out for you training this one." Jinora giggles.
"Oh believe me I already knew that." Anakin chuckles.
"Gee thanks Master Skywalker. You're a blast to work with too." Shun said sarcastically walking out.
"He's a great Avatar but he's got a way to go before he's can be considered a decent jedi." Anakin chuckles.
"I don't know, he reminds of you when you started out." Padme smiles.
"What? No way. I was way better than him." Anakin said.
"I don't know Annie." Padme giggles walking.
"Padme!" Anakin said following her.
Looking at this Jinora smiles as she saw Shun leave.
"I don't know, the Jedi have some rules that I don't think Shun would be too keen on following." Jinora said.
Walking around the temple, Shun saw almost every Jedi there was either training or studying Holocrons in the library.
Deciding to use this time off to relax he walked over to some other Padawans.
"Hey any of you guys want to go check out the city?" Shun asks.
"Sorry but my master wants me to do some more lightsaber practice." A male Padawan said.
"And I need to do some studying in the library." A female one said.
Trying a few more, Shun looked around confused.
'Don't these guys know how to have any fun?' Shun thought.
In the hanger, Shun was in the Millennium Falcon meditating.
"Wow you've been busy." Opening his eyes Shun sees the spirit of Avatar Korra sitting across from him.
"Hey Korra." Shun smiles. "Yeah won this off a pirate." Shun gestures.
"Not bad. Toph would be proud." Korra chuckles.
"Yeah I've also got a droid and my own animal companion." Shun said.
"Nice, but something tells me there's something that's bothering you." Korra assumes.
"Well I've been trying to get closer to some of the Jedi here but they don't seem very interested. The only Jedi I'm somewhat close with are my Master Obi-Wan, Master Skywalker and Ahsoka." Shun said.
"Well these are protectors of the galaxy. Maybe they just never had time to make friends or any other kind of relationship." Korra suggests.
"Still I'm fighting in a war with these people you'd think they'd want to get close to their fellow allies." Shun said.
"Maybe that's the problem, they're so focused on the war they're not thinking of anything else." Korra said.
"I guess, there are thousands of Jedi out there odds are there are some who could use a friend." Shun said.
"Look if these guys don't want to hang out with you then you should make the first move. We Avatars have a real knack for making friends." Korra said.
"Yeah you made a ton during your time as Avatar." Shun said.
"Yes I did." Korra smiles proudly.
"Thanks Korra." Shun said.
"Just because you're a savior Shun doesn't mean you can't take time for yourself." Korra said before disappearing.
Just outside, Ahsoka was walking by when she spots Haya sleeping by the Falcon.
"Hey Haya." Ahsoka smiles walking up to her.
Yelping Haya smiles as Ahsoka pets her.
"Yeah good to see you too. Is Shun around?" Ahsoka asks.
Yelping Haya gestures to the ship.
"Thanks girl." Ahsoka said walking up the rails. "Hey knock, knock anyone here?"
"Hey Ahsoka." Shun said walking over.
"So this is ship you cheated Hondo out of." Ahsoka said causing him to groan
"I did not cheat. Why does everyone keep saying that? I only stopped Hondo from cheating me. I won this ship fair and square." Shun said annoyed.
"Okay, okay take it easy." Ahsoka giggles.
Looking at her, Shun pauses remembering Korra's advice.
"Hey Ahsoka I was thinking of going into the city for a bite to eat. Do you wanna come with me?" Shun asks.
"Huh?" Ahsoka said surprised.
"Yeah I mean I have a few credits saved up and I'm bored just always being at the temple. What do you say?" Shun asks.
"Yeah that sounds fun. I actually never do much outside the temple." Ahsoka said.
"Well then I guess you and I both will stepping outside our comfort zones." Shun said.
At a small restaurant, Haya was sleeping out front while Shun and Ahsoka were eating inside and needless to say when some people saw the Varacctyl they moved slowly away from it in fear.
Inside, Shun and Ahsoka were sitting at a table.
"So Ahsoka what was life like for Jedi before the war started?" Shun asks.
"It was so peaceful. Back then I was just like all the other younglings training so that we could become Jedi Knights." Ahsoka said taking a bite.
"Yeah things were pretty peaceful at my home too." Shun said.
"What was it like? Learning to become the Avatar?" Ahsoka asks.
"Well because I was the Avatar that meant I had to learn to bend the 4 elements. My training allowed me to travel to the other nations, see things from a different view point, meet new people." Shun said.
"I wish my training allowed me to travel. Sounds like fun." Ahsoka said.
"Maybe but even so getting to stay in one place sounds very nice as well. Being surround by so many people like you, that sounds fun." Shun said.
"Hmm I don't know Shun, Jedi aren't big on fun." Ahsoka said.
"You're fun." Shun smirks causing her to smile.
"Thank you, I appreciate that." Ahsoka smiles.
"Still wouldn't mind having a few more friends in the Jedi Temple." Shun said.
Ahsoka was about to say something when a thug walked by and noticed them.
"Well lookie here, some Jedi. Hey when are you idiots gonna end this war?" He asks getting their attention.
"Excuse me?" Ahsoka asks.
"How hard is it to destroy a bunch of tin cans?" The Thug asks.
"You try battling a ton of battle droids." Shun said.
"You Jedi are supposed to be the protectors and yet tons of people and planets are dying. You guys aren't protectors, you're jokes." He said as Shun stood up.
"We're doing our best. You think War is easy? It's not. Now why don't you get lost." Shun suggests.
"And what if I say no?" The Thug glares.
"I can be very convincing." Shun said.
"Is that right?" He asks.
"Shun don't do it. We can't hurt innocent civilians." Ahsoka said.
"Yeah you Jedi can't do anything but talk big." He mocks.
Narrowing his eyes, Shun raises his hand and moves them to his mouth and whistles loudly.
Bursting her head through the window Haya roars scaring the living daylights out of him.
As everyone looks over the thug slowly adjusts himself before running out scared.
Almost instantly Shun and Ahsoka burst into laughter.
"Okay it's official, you're the greatest." Ahsoka smiles.
"Hey no one talks to you or anyone close to me like that and gets away with it." Shun chuckles.
"Oh so you and I are close?" Ahsoka asks.
"Well I'd like to think we are." Shun said.
Pausing Ahsoka looks to Shun. 'Did no one ever tell Shun the rule about Jedi and attachments?'
Back at the Jedi Temple, Shun and Ahsoka were walking back to their rooms.
As they stopped in front of the staircase, Ahsoka starts walking up.
"Hey Ahsoka I had a fun time tonight." Shun said.
"Yeah me too. We should do this again sometime." Ahsoka agrees turning around to look at him.
"Hey Ahsoka, I'm glad I met you." Shun smiles getting her attention.
"Oh yeah? Why?" Ahsoka asks.
"Whenever I feel down or not myself you always seem to be there to cheer me up. Thanks a lot." Shun smiles.
"Hey happy to help. You're no good to anyone when you're sad." Ahsoka smiles playfully punching his shoulder.
"Well I'm very happy to have you in my life." Shun smiles giving her a hug.
"Hey us Padawans have to stick together don't we?" Ahsoka asks.
"Yes we do." Shun smiles.
Looking at her, Shun saw the night sky reflecting off Ahsoka and she totally took his breath away.
Pausing Shun realized from the moment he got into the Clone Wars, Ahsoka has always been there for him, offering a kind and caring smile. Something he was always told as the Avatar was people like that made being the Avatar easier.
"Hey Ahsoka." Shun said getting her attention. "Thanks for everything." Leaning in Shun gives Ahsoka a soft peck on the lips causing her eyes to widen in shock.
"Uh whoa…Shun." Ahsoka said as a blush formed on her face.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Shun smiles walking away.
Leaning against the wall, Ahsoka could feel her heart racing.
"I don't believe it." Ahsoka said.
Sure she gave him playful kisses on the cheek but she never expected this.
Slowly reaching up to touch her lips, Ahsoka blushes stroking her lekku.
'Wow…that was pretty nice." Ahsoka admits before walking back to her room. "I know I shouldn't but that just felt right."
In his room, Shun was laying down on his bed thinking about how much fun he had with Ahsoka.
'Maybe next time we have a day off I'll Ahsoka out on a date.' Shun thought falling asleep with a smile on his face.
