A\N: Hey there folks, here we have the very first challenge, thank you for the reviews and Favs. You're all too kind, and I wonder if anyone can see the easter eggs I have put around here.
Co-written by Zecske05
Seven days had passed since Yamchas meeting with the mysterious stranger known as Melvin, and while the former bandit was sure that it was not a dream, sometimes he would question himself. Should this be the kind of thing he should tell to anyone? Would they even believe it? Probably, it would not be the weirdest thing that happened to him and his circle of friends.
"Will he really come?" Yamcha said, while outside his house.
"RISE AND SHINE Wolf boi!" Melvin decided to show up by the human side in the loudest and energetic way possible, freaking out Yamcha who got startled by it.
"Wah! Whoa!? W-Where did you come from? Don't do that again!" He could swear that this almost gave him a heart attack.
"I'm back! And guess what? I brought snacks too, you can take them as a token of sorry for spooking you then" He said, giving him a plastic bag.
"Ahn, thanks I guess...wait" Yamcha starts looking inside the bag "Dude, this is filled with like...thirty Mozzarella sticks slobbered up in ketchup and mustard" He sweat drops at this choice of snack at said time.
"I know right? When I first took a bite from those, It was love at first taste. So fucking good! I'm sure you can relate to it too if you eat it just like that" He said with sparkles in his eyes.
"Yeah...maybe later" The former bandit put the bag of unhealthy food on his table counter for the time being.
"Well, I bet you would like me to just get to the point since I'm here right?"
"I mean, yeah I'm quite ready and even with my Gi, but if you have something else to talk feel free" Yamcha said in a hidden mix of curiosity\impatient\excitement.
"Meh we can talk later, now it's time for the fun to start with no more delays"
And just like a magic trick of humongous proportions, everything around their field of vision started to turn into the whitest white color you can imagine. It almost looked like the entire world had been swallowed up of its color and objects to a void.
"Wha-! What happened?" Yamcha freaks out a bit.
"Welcome to my Void dimension, this is where I like to stay and think about creative ways to have fun without anyone annoying me, like sibling bickering, loud neighbors, terrible music, and the sorts. Pretty sweet eh?" Melvin mused, feeling like showing off the place with pride.
"It's...white and empty, wait! We are in another dimension?" Yamcha proceeds to ask, shocked at the fact he was just brought like that.
"Pff! Yeah, empty for now. But it's perfect for our thing. Here I can create anything I want but at certain costs here and there, not important right now"
"Wait what about-"
"Alright! Listen up, I shall give you two options if you want to become stronger! We can take the easy way which will be months or maybe a year to learn this step by step to perfection...Or" He stopped giving pause to it on purpose "We do this the hard way, which will be way funnier and interesting if you ask me"
"Well it feels weird to walk on solid white nothingness, but I guess there is no point asking for any more questions. Let's go and learn it the hard way then" Yamcha pumps his fist up "Wait...learning it step by step is the easy way? Then what is the hard way?"
"Oh, you're in for a sweet treat man! Listen closely, the other way will be a difficult challenge. Because by struggling and defeating the walls that are in front of you, that way it will be satisfactory and rewarding like true training, and the best part? I can pump certain skills straight to your very being, think of it as reading a book one moment, and then woosh! Knowledge acquired! Cool right?" Melvin laughs it off while floating around.
"Eh?! You can do something like that? Really? " Yamcha was surprised to hear something like that was possible, then again he already saw impossible things before "Huh...I mean it feels a bit like cheating, but if I can get through a challenge that makes it not so bad" Yamcha said thinking about it for a moment.
"Would you like some time to get ready? Maybe take a breather?" Melvin asked with a hint of mischief.
"Sure, I don't know what challenge you will do so warming up would be a good call now"
The martial artist then proceeds to stretch out and practice his fighting moves to warm up the body and get ready to go. His guest was just looking at it all the time, without blinking until five minutes later from punches, kicks and a standard warm-up procedure he was done and ready.
"Alright! I'm ready for anything you may throw at me" Yamcha clenches his fists, declaring that in confidence.
"That's great! Now while helping you directly would put away the meaning behind all this, I will however be there watching over through the orb on my staff and give you information about what you're dealing with, just enough to pique your curiosity about the situation" The white-haired man told him.
"Is that so? Thanks for letting me know then, ready when you are"
"As you wish, since this is our first time working together I will start it easy for you"
And with just a snap of fingers, the whole scene suddenly starts to shift once again in appearance, Yamcha felt like his body was being moved from the previous spot for a moment like something was sucking him towards somewhere losing balance for an instant. But this one was faster, literally in the blink of an eye.
"Where am I?" He asked, having no idea.
The location was quite simple, the floor was nothing but grass, a big amount of the area was surrounded by thick brick walls. The sky was blue and the wind was gentle, nothing out of the ordinary.
*THUD*
A loud noise was suddenly heard and Yamcha turned around to see what it was right away "Hmmm?"
When he turned around to look at it, Yamcha saw a stack of five tires that showed up out of thin air. But they were not just truck tires, they were really fucking HUGE!
"Have you ever seen tires this thicc?!" Melvin laughs it off.
Getting surprised yet again for like...the third time that day, the former bandit jumps away in a surprise, seeing some green glowing orb floating around and with a voice
"Geez quit being such a scary cat, never saw someone have a flying magical orb as a way for communication?!"
"Ohh! So that's how you are going to watch and talk to me? How useful" Yamcha said looking at it interested "But what are the tires for? These things look hella big" He poked at one of them, the rubber feeling resistant and new.
"What you see here my friend is Titan tires, a sixty-three-inch behemoth of rubber measuring fourteen feet tall. Each one of these babies weights 12,500 pounds"
"Wow, that's like...what six tons?" Yamcha said, impressed at the weight of the tire.
"Beats me, you find out later with a calculator. Now here is what you have to do dear combatant. You need to do a low kick and take each tire out of the way without making the tower fall while..."
The orb glows a green light and then suddenly two beams of light are shot in quick succession, left and right, leaving two machines behind for sports purposes.
"Dodging from these Tennis Ball Serving machines reaching a speed of 272 km/h all while they are at a distance of two meters"
Yamcha looks at the challenge in front of him thinking about who would even think of training like that. Surely this was not something for novices, was what he thought, then again Roshi training schedule was anything but normal.
"What's wrong? Was training with Roshi and Kami just for show? Is kicking a little rubber too much?" Melvin teased him.
"You seem to always have a lot of information about me huh? Hmph! This is nothing, I'm just excited for the game, you come up with some neato training, by all means, you can make it harder"
"Ok then!"
Another shot was emitted, this one hitting Yamcha blue boots from his Gi set. A wave of heaviness suddenly takes its toll on his feet, he could feel it.
"Hm?" He gave a surprised grunt.
"Your boots now have an extra weight of four hundred fifty pounds, glad to know your not into slacking off"
"Me and my big mouth eh? ...Well, I should play seriously since you are helping me so much" He smirked.
"The moment you hit the tire, the machines are going to start"
Walking right in front of the huge stack of tires, it's like a tower made of pitch-black rubber looking down at him. Yamcha stare hardening into a serious one, he starts inhaling a great deal of air and then letting it out, the former bandit stood solid and ready for it, muscles bulging and the air getting denser, his Ki floats around as if this challenge is supposedly the hardest of his life even though it sounded like an exaggeration.
The size and weight of those tires, the extra amount of pounds on his boots. All of this was to try and slow him down, to put doubts! But in the end...even though he is just a human he was way past what some would call peak condition.
"HMPM!"
Swinging his leg faster than a speeding bullet, the shinbone made contact with the heavy-duty piece of rubber at full strength, the sound that came later was like ten Frag grenades being detonated at once.
The first tire flew away like a cannon being shot through the grassland until it would stop later on. When the speedful tennis balls had already been shot, Yamcha Knew they would come from left and right, but with no worries he just went and did a backflip, dodging from the balls almost like he didn't just kick a tremendous heavy tire and jumped like that as if his shoes were not with more than one hundred ninety kilograms.
"Hey...That was neat" Melvin complimented.
"I didn't train most of my life and months on a planet ten times earth gravity for nothing"
Yamcha smirked remembering his training. If his old self from the desert went through this he would have quite the tough challenge, but he trained with great masters making him far beyond any human on the planet besides his monk friend.
"Ok let's get this show on the road"
Yamcha then demonstrated his superhuman strength thanks to his training and ki control, the sound of his shinbone kicking the Titan tires one after the other with incredible power making them fly, even with the extra weight on his feet. Showing balance and enhanced reflexes in which he dodged the fast tennis balls that were always aiming at him while changing the lock point, be it from one at the top of the head to one towards the torso but still, they missed the spot. He would jump, duck, spin or just stay still and grab the balls like it was nothing.
"HAHH!"
After kicking the last tire with a thunderous roundhouse kick, Yamcha did mid-air splits hitting the imminent tennis ball at two hundred seventy-two kilometers, said balls were sent back to where they came from and destroyed the machines by the way more powerful impact reflected.
"Alright! That warm-up got me fired up!"
"Well, would you look at that, looks like you're the real deal huh? Not that I doubted of course hehe" Melvin said sounding happy.
"Damn straight! This was quite fun though, is this the end?" Yamcha asked the orb.
"Nope! This is a three-part challenge, that was just the start. Do you think you're ready for the next one right away?"
"Of course! I'm confident I can take anything right now" He said feeling up for it.
"Well there is a difference between confidence and cockyness"
"Fine by me if you ask, not feeling tired what so ever"
"Your wish is my command"
The orb then starts spinning around Yamcha to the point where it forms a green ring of energy and then it turns into a pillar covering his whole frame. After that, the scenario takes a sudden change, and now the martial artist sees himself in a spacious hall where the walls are tilled with black tiles and the floor had a bright tiled white color that seemed to be trap between the black walls, on the other side of the hall which was approximately one hundred meters, had a door, above it was stamped the word EXIT.
"Whoa that felt funny, now this place looks interesting. Are you hiding something?"
"No, surprising you like this is just much better, but I suppose showing you before could be ok"
With one glow from the orb, the hall suddenly shifts as if it was in some sort of illusion. A series of metal pipes show up connected to the ceiling by one single string as well as another series of strings connecting random pipes, what Yamcha realized was that each pipe had a sharpened side looking like a death trap.
"What the hell?" He said looking at the whole ordeal.
"Welcome to the Trap Zone. This baby here can send steel pipes randomly jutting from the ceiling and it also contains tripwires that are so thin you need really good vision to see them" Melvin said with glee.
"Sorry to ask but, what is the point of this exactly?" Yamcha asked, looking at the contraption.
"If you're so sure of yourself then what is a better way to prove it? This exercise was made to increase one dodging speed and reflexes, you need to do just that regardless of the angle and from where the hits are coming from, it's quite fast once it's on"
"And the sharp parts?"
"Yamcha...come on, a true combatant can only improve when their lives are put in dangerous situations. By perfecting one's technique, preparing one's self-psychology, enduring the pain as the body gets hurt, they are just the beginning of a journey. But if this is scarier than anything you have seen in your life then ok, tell me you want to go back and I open the door for the wittle guy" Melvin said, clearly mocking him by the tone of voice.
A vein pops on his forehead and Yamcha starts feeling annoyed "Don't underestimate me, I trained strictly way before everyone learned to fly"
The former bandit looked towards the death trap that only a madman would use as a form of training, even though he and his friends had gone through all kinds of challenges, that was still dangerous. Starting to breathe he inhales oxygen into his lungs and concentrates before continuing. The moment he enters through the gap that the path had, he stops for a moment to observe the structure first.
The man tries to get through the sharp pipes moving slowly without touching them. However, even the slightest physical contact seems to trigger a chain reaction that makes each one move at a speed that would get any man stiff in place only thinking about the pain of getting hit by one of those against their skin.
"Oh, shit..."
That human may pass by some as distracted and not have the same power factor when compared to the rest of the group, but he experienced death and the pain of having his body broken. He could have fled and hidden, waiting for the direst of situations to be resolved on its own by someone else. However, that human was a paradox, on one hand, he wanted to train and be strong because like all martial artists this was his way of life.
But he also felt the feeling of inadequacy whenever he was unable to help. Yamcha was no slacker, he was brave, sometimes fear escaped his grasp. It's only natural...he just went out of ways to grow stronger as a human. Even when feeling like a failure, he still felt proud to be part of a group of individuals so strong. With resolve the former bandit moves his body with fluidity, moving his eyes and sharpening his other senses to dodge from what were basically flying knives ricocheting around, getting hit meant getting stabbed.
Having to worry not only about what was in front, left, right and behind him, the human had to also be wary of the tripwires all the while walking forward. The speed from the random pipes became faster, sometimes cutting the fabric from his Gi, but when he managed to go past the 50 meters mark something happened. The pipes suddenly stopped their movements which confused Yamcha greatly, there was still more to go before the exit. But then it happened, the edge of each sharp pipe started to glow in a red tinge, the sensation of the room getting hotter thanks to that is getting apparent.
"What is happening?"
"The challenge just got harder, that's all, ever heard of the saying like a hot knife through butter? Well, this is just it, but guess who is the butter?" Melvin teased in that situation.
"Should I ask how hot these are?" Yamcha sweatdropped.
"Pretty darn hot that's how now don't blink it's going to start again"
Yamcha didn't even had the time to ask anything before the storm of now sharp and heated pipes raining down on the human, they were fast and random. It took time to dodge from them all without getting cut, burned, or stabbed, he can only wonder who would even go through this training, the scar-faced man was doing great still, it reminded him when dodging the bees from Roshi training, but the moment one lucky pipe managed to leave a very little mark on his leg in which he dodged by the skin of his teeth...
"Owie!"
More managed to land a mark on his body, nothing deadly they were all too shallow and minimal but it was enough to distract him.
"Don't falter!" Melvin who was having fun first now spoke in a serious tone which brought the man's attention "Stay calm as the sky and move faster than lightning, only by sharpening your spirit one must feel even the slightest change in movement. Show me that your not some noob"
Those words struck him hard, gritting his teeth, Yamcha looked forward with a glare that felt like a true wolf. It was so embarrassing how much doubt he still had in his chest, after everything he went through, but he was right! No one liked getting hurt, but everyone wants gains. Even the smallest hint of fear could drop the most prepared of man into a mess, trusting yourself is the foundation in becoming stronger.
'I won't lose!'
With a deep breath, Yamcha shows his superhuman speed and reflexes by dodging the sharp heated pipes that endangered to hit him from all directions, by his senses and long time experience in martial arts was helping him in pinpointing where to go. With patience and only a few cuts around the body at first, the Wolf Fang Fist user steps forth at the end of the room.
*THUD*
"Haaaah...man what was a rush" He said, feeling the weight from his boots back to normal.
"Took you long enough, if you didn't waste time getting scared of a few sharp objects you could have gone faster"
"Give me a break, I am not allowed to feel surprised? You got one heck of a mind to come up with something like this" Yamcha said rubbing his chin.
"Oh! Hehe thanks, I do try"
"That was not a compliment" He flatly said.
"Whatever you say, but now that you warmed up and took off the rust, we can finish this with the last one. Are you ready for it or now that the end is near or you're gonna be lazy?!" The orb just kept pushing.
"Sure, whatever you have in stock I bet I have seen worst"
With that said and done the orb teleports Yamcha once again from that room, it still was a weird sensation but he was starting to get used to it, to be frank. When the view of his surroundings changed this time around, he quickly decided to take a look and see where that entity had teleported him to.
However, the first thing he saw was something much easier to see that quickly caught his eye. One could say that it was impossible to miss seeing as the first part of that place. A natural giant was in front of him, the granite mountain that soared in the sky and loomed before the lush verdant valleys, covered by a rug of large trees with leaves that varied from orange and red leaves. The path that led towards it was made of cobblestone, and right ahead at the start, he could see carved at the feet of the mountain down below, stairs. There were stairs carved around that behemoth.
"Gorgeous right? Being surrounded by a little of nature truly makes you feel different than in the big cities" Melvin spoke.
"Yeah it gives me some vibes of traditional martial arts for some reason"
"Ok partner listen here, you need to climb that mountain over there going through the road, stairs and surpass the rivers and cliffs all while wearing a little bit of weight"
"That's long, how much weight exactly?"
"Well calculating your weight and record in training I say...ten times gravity which makes you now a weight of six hundred eighty kilos" Melvin said before he kept going with the explanation "From time to time an opponent will show up and a fight will happen, there is a total of forty enemies"
"Eh? That much ?! What do yo-"
With a touch of magic or whatever energy Melvin used, the former-bandit body feels the weight in his body increase, it wasn't to the point of falling on the floor on his knees or anything, but he could notice it.
"Not gonna say what enemy huh? Well Jokes on you, I don't mind wearing this. I'm used to this amount of weight after King kai" The fighter said confidently in his skill.
"By all means, if you want more weight just ask, but for now just hang in tight with that. I got nothing else to say besides good luck"
The orb then instead of disappearing in a poof once again just flies into the sky like a rocket until it can't be seen anymore. Yamcha looks at his surroundings, realizing he is now alone and that it would be better to start.
"Alright, let's jog"
The human starts jogging towards his one goal. Most people, even the well-trained ones would have a hard time facing this amount of weight on their body even for a little walk. But not only did he didn't seem to be straining he also jogged at a pace that was anything but that, it was more like a dash. It didn't take that long for him to reach the other side and get to the feet of the mountain, the path was a straight cobblestone line anyway, quite far but not by a large margin.
"This mountain is high for sure. Good thing I'm not afraid of heights"
looking at the perfectly sculpted stone steps he put his one feet after the other almost like checking if it was ok to be on top, no traps this far.
"So far so good"
Yamcha cheerfully started running up his way on top of the mountain at a slow pace, perhaps it would be for the better to check for anything suspicious. From now on every time he went higher the air would get denser, enemies were going to show up as he was told. But what kind of enemy? That would have to wait.
A few minutes had passed after he started jogging, nothing so far. He couldn't sense ki of any hostiles, only nature for now.
"Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Oh well, I should just climb up as fast as possible."
What he didn't know was that something was crawling behind one of the trees up ahead waiting for an opportunity to attack him. When Yamcha went past it, something came out. With his sharp senses, the human quickly does a backflip, dodging what seemed to be some weird gulp that hit the ground, as it started corroding it.
"What the! Is that...Acid!?"
From out of the shadows came what seemed to be three humanoid creatures of short stature, they had short arms ending in three-fingered claws, their head was a bulbous format resembling a plant and the entirety of the skin and eyes were blue.
"No freaking way…"
Looking with more attention Yamcha seems to realize what those creatures were, they were different somehow but there was no mistake.
"It's the same weird alien that did me when Vegeta arrives on Earth! What is even doing here? ugh! It doesn't matter, you came in the wrong time buddy, I'm much stronger than the last time I fought one of your kind. Come get some you freak!"
It was not the time for questions but action. There were three of those ugly plant-like things who just stared at him before screeching.
"Keek keeek! KEEEK!"
The creatures then took action and rushed towards Yamcha, but the fighter had greater speed, with the quick reaction he got in front of the Saibamen on the left and with his clenched fist, punched him straight in the gut so hard it sends it packing right at the rock formation which broke like cardboard on the collision.
Surprised by this the other two saw him as a threat and decided to gang up on the human, attacking by throwing a series of rapid punches, as fast as their power allowed it, trying to overwhelm him. Yamcha however, saw each blow like it was in slow motion, being able to dodge every single one of them without too much effort.
"Too slow!"
With ease, the fighter gave a high knee strike that hit one of the blue creatures right in the face while doing a haymaker at the last one. Making sure to not hold back as they hit the ground with the decisive blows.
"This time I ain't taking any chances"
Knowing very well of their explosive capabilities the turtle school student shoots more than enough Ki blasts at his fallen enemies, so they are indeed done for and won't try any funny tricks.
"Whoa...This actually felt kinda nice" He said looking at the scorched remains, feeling like it was therapeutic for some of his wounded pride back in the day.
After knowing who his enemy was, from there on out Yamcha would sometimes end up meeting the blue-skinned counterpart of the Saibamen who would hide behind rocks and trees, there were moments where they nearly got a surprise hit at him because the latter couldn't sense their ki until they showed up for some reason, almost like it was their advantage for this challenge.
That slowed him down because now he had to pay extra attention ahead while running in case of ambushes. They would come most of the time in groups of two or three, attacking him with their three-fingered claws and acid shots from their skulls, but Yamcha's expertise in martial arts and overall higher power even with the extra weight gave him the high ground over them.
There was no reason to hold back, so every time he attacked, it was a kill shot for sure, breaking bones and sinking their heads with spinning kicks. Maybe it was the whole self-destruct thing so many years ago but Yamcha was being quite ruthless, tearing through them like cannon fodder.
Before he noticed, the guy had already managed to destroy ten of them, smoke and Peebles could be seen falling and dispersing in the air from all the ki blasts he shot carefully. That gave him enough time to run all he wanted without having to worry about those things.
"Hey its been a while since the last one, maybe they are all gon-"
What interrupted his line of thought was a pair of yellow-skinned hands that came from down below the earth and grabbed his legs making the guy fall on the floor with a comedic *Bam*
"Uwah?"
Surprised by that he looked behind and saw the alien limbs, without saying one single word Yamcha just took off in the air and taking the thing with him, once its body was out he sent a Kiai shrugging it off his feet.
"Kiieek!"
The Saibamen this time had yellow skin and what seemed to be natural armor in its body in dark orange, his eyes were the same color as its green counterpart, a combo between red and pink.
"Ah geez, that was so embarrassing. Hope no one else saw it"
Being caught like that was annoying, even more, when he looked down seeing the group of new and yellow foes. Those things had made fun of him for the last time, he was not gonna let it slide this time. This group was stronger than the previous blue ones he could feel, they even started charging energy in each palm to launch a combined move.
Yamcha landed on the floor and glared at them dangerously, charging a good amount of ki in his hand, and with a yell of anger, he punched a charged fist that was able to repel the triple purple beam of energy they had shot towards him.
"Now you're done for!"
The martial artist now in his Wolf stance powered up just a bit more and with more blood lust than one would expect from him, lunged forward and the first one who tried to attack him is also the one to first get its face slashed by swift claw strike. Not small cuts or anything, that was a move without holding back, meaning, blood gushed out from the yellow Saibamen face who got shredded. It felt like this was the first time in a long time where he could just let go of anything holding him back and just do the deed.
Ignoring what happened with the first, Yamcha went for the second doing a spinning flying kick strong enough that once it collided with the yellow creature's head, it separated from the rest of its body and flew away like a soccer ball, the rest of the body fell after a few seconds. In a last-ditch effort, the last one opens his head and uses its acid attack, to burn him now that it was so close. But what it hits was his afterimage, showing up behind him, Yamcha grabs one of his arms and throws it sky-high, before getting up almost immediately and doing a double ax handle as it hits the rocky ground with a shake.
"I can't put my guard down not even for one second"
With his blood pumping and adrenaline flowing Yamcha decides to unsuppress most of his power and keep it like that. Using the multiform technique he makes just one clone to keep him company in the journey and better provide for defense since ki sensing was not doing him any good for now.
The human fighter dispatches the yellow plant aliens with well-coordinated punches, kicks, and kiais. Sometimes grabbing one of them and using it as a shield against energy bullets, maybe it was a bit sadistic but he didn't feel like caring, after all, they wanted to kill him. At this point, he had already figured out how the groups act, hiding behind things like trees, rocks, and sometimes underground.
Whenever the color changed it seemed like the little pests grew stronger. Which was easy to realize when he reached the number ten of enemies defeated once more the color of the Saibamen had changed to purple-skinned ones with blue bio armor and orange claws. They were faster and vicious, running in four more often like animals. The acidic liquid that came from their bulbous head was way more dangerous and they would even self-destruct without needing to grab on to him, it's like they wanted to bring him down at any cost.
The martial artist however kept his battle-hard stance up all the time, his senses were sharp and he paid attention. Using physical attacks to ki blasts at point-blank range, he jumped and dodged, working together with his clone, still having more power to dispose of the beings even if it wasn't full force. It has become a default mode now. Run as much as you can, pay attention to ambushes, fight the Saibamen groups, then Run some more, it wasn't as if he was getting tired though. As one of the strongest human fighters on earth Yamcha used to train hard, he wasn't number one but that didn't mean he was made of glass.
Training with Roshi, Kami's lookout, and King Kai, stamina is always important for all types of training. A trail of defeated alien humanoids was left and the distance traveled thus far had been quite a lot, he didn't know how many kilometers were done now, but that was the last of his worries.
When the man thought that he was reaching the top of the mountain, a new batch of enemies had appeared. These were different from the previous ones, he could feel they were far stronger and thus more dangerous as well. Those goblin-like creatures sprang to life from the shadows, revealing their grey-skinned appearance, blue eyes, and natural black armor in their bodies.
"Kiiiiii! kekekeke!"
The Saibamens always seem to come in a group of three, but the grey ones were not just more powerful they seem to be able to work together too. Yamcha realized how nimble and stronger they were when one of them gave him a fierce rush attack (Meteor Crush from Xenoverse) while the others wanted to attack with acid projectiles from afar.
Being busy dodging and parrying the surprisingly fast combo of punches and kicks wasn't super hard, impressive? Well, it did take his attention from the others and the corrosive liquid had almost done a critical hit on him. The acid was stronger and wider in rage, his clothes were melting and burning away even when only a tiny bit of it landed by the skin of his teeth. Undoing his one clone Yamcha powers up to full power not because he was scared, but just as a precaution.
A great chunk of the mountain was being destroyed thanks to all the barrage of ki being shot. Using Solar flare he took advantage that they were momentary blind and used one of his signature moves, a heavy ki charged Sokidan hitting them left and right like a wrecking ball.
That was kept on for a good amount of time before he would start feeling slightly winded, getting to the top of a ten-kilometer mountain while on ten times your weight and fighting these things that kept on getting stronger? He was getting more experience learning how to deal with small openings with crafty acid shots and energy blasts than anything.
A now shirtless Yamcha blasts off a Kamehameha in which one Grey Saibamen manages to dodge it, but is it then that the martial arts show the control of his ki and makes the straight line do a curveball as the blast turns around and hits him right in the back, damaging him a lot. For a split second, he forgot what he was supposed to be doing, immersed in just beating them up, those damn colorful bastards showing up like cockroaches, time and time again, mocking him.
"TAKE THAT ASSHOLE! WHO ELSE WANTS SOME?"
"Yamcha"
"WHAT!?" He turns around still in battle mode before seeing the flying green orb.
"You have reached the top"
Hearing those words he now looked around to see he was in fact at the top, his view gave a sight of the valley and the battleground that he was running from not so long ago "Oh...I guess that means I won?" He said rubbing the back of his head.
"Yeah, and you also showed me a new side of you. I didn't expect you to be that brutal, I mean sure they were there as enemies but you seemed to enjoy putting them down" Melvin said, probably looking smug on the other side.
"Well that was just ahn...never mind that! Why was I unable to feel their ki?" Yamcha questioned changing the subject.
"To make things more interesting, one can only improve when the stacks are against him right? I also believed in your power against the Saibamen variants" With a bright glow, the orb is now gone and in front of Yamcha, the figure of Melvin stands up proudly "Now...extend your hands" Melvin said with a smile.
"Ok"
Doing so, little sparks of energy start to form together in the air, and then with a *Pop* a book then magically manifests itself out of thin air and lands on Yamcha hands who look at it with curiosity.
"A book?"
"Not just any book dude, right there is cataloged every technique in excruciating detail about the Nadashinkage-Ryu style" Melvin said with flair.
"Nada...wait is it a martial arts style?" Yamcha asked, never hearing of that name before.
"Yes. This is a style of martial arts that specializes in assassination techniques"
"Assassination?" Yamcha asked curiously.
"Im not finished!" Melvin bonks him in the head.
"Ouch!"
"The practitioners calculate their strikes to deliver the most power as possible whilst using the least amount of strength. Be it, master or disciple, one's life with this style with a warrior's code in which defeat is paramount to death, so, only by experiencing death can you earn to revere life. This is the true nature of the Nadashinkage-ryuu at times, a way of killing in order to protect"
Yamcha hears Melvin's words at first with interest, what he said about the assassination wasn't what he was into, but it also had other things besides that, maybe seeing the different techniques and trying them before dismissing it? Learning a different style of fighting and adding it to your own could be just what he was looking for.
"Well I did die once, so I guess that's out of the way, hmm?" When turning the book around he sees a phrase whose impact could move one's heart.
*Studies without concentration only breed a fist without reason*
"Man this feels more serious the more I look at it...So does that mean I will learn this in an instant if I open the book?" He smirked asking that.
"Pfft! Heck no, you're a martial artist, right? This time you gotta study like a good boy and then train it hard to learn them, trust me you have fun working hard to have it"
"Oh..." Yamcha stares at it before nodding.
