At the End of the Lonely Road

Note: Companion poem to Ambiguity (Kan/Kyuu fic). Kyuuzou's perspective on the journey from this world to the next.
To be supreme, untouchable
I swore myself to the lonely road
Sold my soul, sealed my heart
To be a warrior unfeeling
For whom the act of killing
Is no more and no less than an art
From the first, I steeled myself
To be neither man nor woman
To be beyond love and lust
For I am the only one I own
The only one I can trust
I walk alone
On the road of life
There is no turning back
It is vain for a killer
To consider 'guilt' and 'sin'
The heart of a warrior
Has no place for softness within
But after your last breath
Will you follow me into another world?
A world beyond war and death
Beyond prejudice and pride
Where the things of earth no longer matter
There will you still stand by my side?
In a world where all secrets come to light
Where all wrongs are set right
There perhaps the heart can be free
Free to see what we could be
Free to walk together
With you into forever
