Their Faces
Raven, Maddie, Cerise and Cedar all ran to the other side of Ever After High. Raven wondered what could have happened to make Holly scream like that; although the daughter of Rapunzel took damsel-in-distressing VERY seriously, this shriek sounded particularly anguished.
The four girls all stopped dead in their tracks when they saw the crowd on the other side of campus. "Uh, is it just me, or does this look like an angry mob?" Cedar asked.
"Yep." Maddie said as she airily sipped her tea. Raven and Cerise nodded in silent agreement. Most of the students in the crowd looked pissed. And if they didn't look pissed, they looked shocked. And a few princesses were actually bawling. What the hex happened here?! Raven thought.
Only the villains in the crowd looked amused. "OhmyGrimm," one villainess chortled to another. "Those FACES!"
"Uh excuse me, what's going on?" Raven asked. The two villainesses looked at the non-evil wicked princess with disdain.
"See for yourself, goody-two shoes." The taller one sneered.
"But you won't like it!" Her friend giggled. And the two of them walked away, cackling like the wicked witches they were. Raven rolled her eyes. "Come on, guys." She said. And the four of them started to muscle their way through the crowd.
Largely thanks to Cerise's astonishing strength, Raven and her friends were able to make it towards the front of the angry mob. Raven tried to figure out what was going on based on the chatter was around her, but none of it made much sense. One thing was clear though; somebody had majorly defied their destinies:
"Ohmygrim."
"I can't believe it."
"How could they do it?!"
"I knew she was crazy, but him?!"
"Unbelievable!"
"So disgusting!"
"I think I'm going to be sick..."
"My heart is breaking!"
"Holy Godmother!"
"Holy fuck!"
"What an asshole!"
"What a whore!"
"They deserved it."
"They deserve to go poof!"
"They deserve to rot in hell."
Cerise's eyes widened at that last one. "Wow. These people are REALLY mad." She whispered to Raven.
"Big time." Raven agreed.
"They're even madder than me!" Maddie said as she scooched past a weeping princess without spilling a drop of tea. "Albeit not in a healthy way..."
"Uh, guys?" Cedar said as she managed to squeeze her way to the very front of the crowd. "I think I know why everyone's so upset..."
"Why?" Cerise asked.
Cedar turned back to them with wide, shocked eyes. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." She said.
Cerise frowned. "Us not believe YOU?"
"Seriously, you've GOT to see this for yourself." The daughter of Pinocchio said. Cerise shrugged and with one final, big nudge, she broke through the crowd with Raven and Maddie right behind her. And they got a good look at what everyone was losing their minds over.
Cerise's jaw practically hit the ground and even Maddie looked disturbed. "I didn't think the author was THAT twisted..." she muttered to Earl Grey. Raven just wished she could unsee what she just saw. But this image wasn't going to leave her anytime soon.
There was Lizzie, the Future Queen of Hearts and Daring, the Big Prince on Campus in the most compromising of positions. Both looked justifiably horrified; they were in a state of undress (Raven had never wanted to see that much of either of them) and had obviously been interrupted mid-coitus. But that wasn't the gross part.
The gross part was the acne. The most horrible acne Raven had ever seen. Huge, bulbous, red cysts that hurt just to look at. With vivid yellow-green whiteheads that seemed to pulse with pus. Yellow-green! It was awful. And awfully strange, because the acne actually spelled out words on their faces.
"Tart" was written on Lizzie's face.
"Dick" was written on Daring's.
"What's going on?" Apple's sweet voice suddenly rang out.
And at that moment, everyone knew that this encounter had trouble written all over it.
