13. The King and his Queen

AN, WARNING! Once again, I am warning you all this is an anti-grace fic and a lot of Lizzie bashing. So, this is for season 1 episode 6, this will be split into two chapters.

Chapter 13,

Ollie's POV, (The blinder that took Grace back to her apartment, so I wasn't going to put anything but for me to continue with this chapter I need to put something for the moment Grace went back to her place with Ollie, because Campbell needs to think Grace was with Tommy. John was still trying to get his breath back when Esme spoke up,

Ness took the sheet off the mattress and threw it into the washing pile and opened a window. Grace's POV, (So I wasn't going to do a POV for Grace but thought a little snippet was needed just for the museum scene with Moss.)

I walked into the Museum going to the usual place I normally meet with Campbell, when I walked through the second set of doors I stopped in surprise. It wasn't Campbell but Moss stood there and he did not look happy or friendly. He didn't let me speak back just threw me away from him and walked away. With his words and threats ringing in my ears I left the museum and went back to my apartment.

I closed my eyes and put my forehead against hers for just a moment, I would never get tired of hearing her tell me she loves me and I would never stop telling her how in love with her I am. I pulled back and opened my eyes seeing her do the same,

"Right, love let's go to Zhang's, shall we? The boys are probably waiting by the car now with the van."

I put both hands on her waist and helped her stand, I stood myself and grabbed her hand she pulled me out of the bedroom and down the stairs. I helped her into her coat and she put my cap on me nodding in approval. We walked out of the house, closing and locking the door walking hand in hand to the car I saw John in the driver's seat of the van with Arthur in the passenger seat I nodded to them both. I helped her into the passenger seat and walked round getting into the drivers side. Once in Ness slid across the seat and placed her hand on my thigh like she always did. It didn't take us long to get to Zhang's thankfully, I parked the car and got out, walking to Ness's side to help her out. We walked inside hand in hand with the boys following behind us, when we got inside, they stayed behind us until we made it to the desk, they split off from us and we walked over to the desk where we saw Zhang with one of his workers who looked to be crying, I felt Ness tighten her grip on my hand which had me squeezing back in response.

We knew Zhang ran a whore house also, so we knew this was one of his workers. When he saw us stood there, he left her and walked over to us, I could see the man was upset and caught site on the blood on the workers face. I put two pounds on the counter,

Ness's POV,

Tommy walked away from me and I looked to Zhang and his poor worker woman, I nodded at Zhang and then walked behind the desk going over to the poor woman, I felt for her not only did she have to fuck that fat pig of a man but he fucking had the nerve to hurt the poor girl! "You ok love?"

She looked at me and I saw the fear and hurt in her eyes so I grabbed her hand and pulled her to seat down, I then found some whiskey and a cloth,

"Zhang? Get me some water?"

Before I could even finish some other worker was giving me a little bowl of water and a clean cloth I stood in front of this poor woman and smiled softly at her,

"What's your name?"

"Tiana, I'm Ness. I'm going to clean up this cut for you, ok? I was a nurse in the war so I can help."

She nodded her head at me so I wet the cloth and gently cleaned the cut and blood away, I then tipped a bit of the whiskey on the corner of the cloth, I looked at her and smiled softly again.

"This will sting, ok?"

I then applied the cloth with the whiskey which made her flinch slightly. Once down I pulled the cloth away from her and cupped her face lifting it so I could make sure she never had anymore cuts that needed cleaning once I was satisfied, I nodded at her and gave the stuff back to Zhang.

"You should bath it in whiskey at least twice a day until it scabs over to keep infection away."

"Thank you."

I nodded at then walked away, Tommy was still with Campbell so I walked around and found John and Arthur leaning against the wall. I walked over to them and John put his arm around me pulling me into his chest,

"My love, whatever the Inspector said fuck him he knows nothing. I love you with my whole heart and soul you are my everything, and you are stuck with me. While there is breath in my lungs you will never be alone do you understand me?"

I then leant towards him and kissed his lips softly, pulling away and smiling at him. I sat back in my seat but kept my hand on his thigh like always. He placed his hand over mine which had me turning my head to look at him,

I smiled at him which had him smiling back, he then removed his hand and started the car. We made our way back to Watery Lane, there was no need for us to fill the silence with conversation both of us thinking about today and what the outcome will be. It didn't take us long to pull up to the garage and park the car, Tommy getting out and coming to my side opening the door and holding out his hand for me to take. He helped me out of the car and wrapped his arms around me which had my arms going around his neck, he kissed me roughly thrusting his tongue in my mouth. His arms pulling me tighter against him and my hands playing with the hair on the back of his neck, we were brought out of our moment by John and Arthur wolf whistling at us which had us pulling away from each other and smirking at them. Tommy looked down to me still smirking,

"Come on then love, let's get this meeting started."

He removed his arms from around me and held out his hand for me to take, I placed my hand in his and he laced our fingers together. We walked over to John and Arthur smiling at them both, then started walking towards the betting den with them following behind us. We got to the den and Tommy opened the door with his free hand waving me in, but kept our fingers laced together with his other hand. I walked in with him following, once we were both in, he took the lead and pulled me along with him to the front of the room he pulled me to his side, he let go of my hand to wrap his arm around my waist holding me close to him. I saw Polly and Esme walk in closing the double doors, Esme went and stood next to John and Polly stayed by the table the room went quiet when Tommy started speaking.

"Right, we've brought you all here today because this is the day that we replace Billy Kimber. This is the day we become respectable, the day we join the official National Association of Racecourse Bookmakers. But first we do the dirty work, we've all known this days been coming I just haven't told you all the date."

He turned around with his arm still around my waist so I turned with him, we faced the black board. Tommy took a drag of his cigarette then spoke up again,

"We're going to the Worcester Races, the track opens at one we'll get there at two."

He then turned around again so we were facing everyone,

"Now, Kimber thinks we're going there to help him to fight the Lee brothers, but thanks to the efforts of our John and his lovely new wife Esme the Lees are now our kin."

We both looked to John and Esme who smiled at each other both me and Tommy smirking, I knew what Tommy was going to say before he even said it,

"My lovely wife and I interrupted those efforts this morning and uh I can assure you all, John is making great sacrifices for the cause of peace."

That had me giggling and everyone else chuckling along, even Esme had a smile on her face I could see John got a bit embarrassed though which had me giggling even more.

"Yeah, all right!"

I looked over and saw Polly with a big smile on her face also, when I caught her eye, we both giggled a little more before Tommy spoke up again,

"So, it'll be us and the Lees against Kimber's boys. We take them out but leave the bookies, I expect a swift victory which will send a signal all the to London, that we believe in letting legitimate businesses run peacefully."

I couldn't wait for this day to be over, I had trust in Tommy but it didn't stop me from worrying about my husbands safety. Kimber is a sleezeball and I knew he would play dirty I knew that from the minute he pinned me against the wall planting his vile lips against mine. John spoke up before I could say anything,

"And what about Kimber himself?"

I felt Tommy tense up and his arm tighten around me, I knew he was pissed from what I told him earlier about what Kimber did to me and I knew he wasn't gonna go easy on the bastard. I just hope he's wife would be ok once he was gone, because although she didn't want to be married to the fucker, I knew she would find it hard not to be married to him now because she was so used to having him around. I felt Tommy tighten his arm a bit more and move his hand so it was resting on my hip his thumb rubbing soft circles into my hip and I knew he was trying to bring me out of my head without alerting anyone else so I turned my head so I was looking at him,

"I'll deal with..."

I cleared my throat interrupting him which had everyone looking at me, Tommy raised his eyebrow at me which had me raising mine in answer. He kept eye contact with me for a moment before smirking at me then turning back to look at everyone else,

"Sorry me and my lovely wife will be dealing with Kimber, I'll be taking his eyes before Ness has her pound of flesh from him for what he did to her at the races."

With that said everyone looked at me in confusion especially John and Arthur but it was Polly that spoke up,

"What happened?"

Tommy looked at me and I looked at him,

"Love?"

I just nodded my head which had him kissing my forehead softly, when he pulled away to look at everyone, I pushed myself closer to him and placed my head against his shoulder.

"Kimber pinned her against the wall and kissed her, he also ran his hand along her thigh trying to touch her. Thankfully she can stand up for herself and she kneed him in the balls but that doesn't mean I will be leaving it. He put his hands on my wife and I don't take that shit."

Tommy's POV,

I looked around the room after telling them what Kimber did to Ness and I could see how pissed off everyone was, my wife was loved by many and these men here love and respected her like the Queen she is and I knew without asking that they all wanted to beat the shit out of Kimber for what he did. I knew Ness was pissed about it but I also knew she slightly scared of Kimber, which had my protectiveness at an all time high for my wife. I took a deep breath once I felt Ness place her hand on my chest over my heart and I knew she felt me getting wound up but just her touch was enough to calm down. I looked at everyone again then spoke up,

"Any other questions?"

That was when Polly spoke up for the first time,

"Yes"

She made her way over to the double doors talking as she went,

"Does anybody object if I bring a newcomer to the meeting?"

When no one spoke up she opened the doors,

"I'd like to introduce the newest member of the Shelby clan."

In walked Ada holding her baby boy with Freddie walking in behind her, he cleared his throat when Polly said Shelby and looked at me smiling.

"Shelby/Thorne clan."

That had us all chuckling, as much as I didn't like Freddie's choices in becoming a communist, he was still a friend who is now family and I could see he made Ada happy and right now that's all I can ask for. I would give him a chance to prove himself a good husband and father as long as he kept Ada and the baby safe. I cleared my throat which had everyone looking back to me,

"Welcome to the family Freddie."

I saw the look of happiness on Ada's face the moment that came out of my mouth and I knew for the moment she was happy with me instead of trying to fight me. So, I took my arm from around Ness and started clapping, everyone joining in shortly after. Finn walked over to Ada giggling at her I looked at Ada and smiled softly,

"Welcome home Ada."

She smiled at me nodding her head and looked around the room.

"We named him Karl, after Karl Marx."

We all laughed at that when Arthur spoke up,

"Karl bloody Marx."

He walked over to Ada,

"Let me get a look at him,"

Ness stepped back to my side wrapping her arm around my waist which had mine automatically going around her waist. I pulled her towards me so her head was against my chest and put my chin on her head wrapping both arms around her holding her close to me. Arthur made his was over to Ada and John spoke up,

"Oh, here we go!"

I looked over to John and smirked at him both of us turning to look at Arthur again who had Karl in his arms and put his peaky cap on his head holding him up.

"Hey, look. He looks just like me."

Everyone burst out laughing to that, I felt more then heard Ness giggling into my chest. John spoke up again,

"That's his arse that looks like you, Arthur."

"He's alright. He's a Shelby."

That had Freddie speaking up,

"Shelby/Thorne Arthur."

I looked to Ada who had a soft smile on her face and knew I had to apologise for the way I had been acting towards her during the pregnancy. Although it wasn't an ideal situation, I could have handled it a lot differently and been there for my little sister when she needed me the most.

"Ada?"

She walked over to me still smiling, I felt Ness go to move but I tightened my arms around her.

"I'm sorry Ada, I should have been there for you rather then against you. Am I forgiven?"

She looked at me for a moment and I knew she was looking to make sure I was being genuine with my apology and right now I was, until proven otherwise by Freddie, I would support her.

"I think Tommy you have a lot to thank your wife for, she saved Freddie from being taken but she also found out about that barmaid before to much damage could be done. Without that I would have blamed you Tommy but I'm glad we know the truth and you are forgiven Tom,"

I smiled at her I had so much to thank my wife for and I knew that I would be thanking my wife for the rest of our lives. I took one arm from around Ness and held it open asking Ada for a hug which she threw herself into straight away. One of her arms going around my neck and the other around Ness's waist, I held both of these women close to me because they are the most important people in my life Ness would always come first as my wife but Ada would always be second.

"Thank you, Tommy,"

I pulled back slightly to kiss her forehead, she then pulled Ness from my arms and hugged her tightly whispering her thanks. I cleared my throat again which got everyone's attention, I reached for Ness and pulled her back into my arms.

"Right, you all know the plan let's get to it."

With that said I pulled Ness into my office, I sat down on my chair and pulled her into my lap. I wrapped my arms around her waist, hers going around my neck I then put my forehead against hers and just sat there for a moment. I needed this quiet time just to ready myself for what was coming and I knew she did too.

AN, Ok so first I need to apologise for taking so long to update. Unfortunately, I had a lot going on in my personal life and had to take some time to deal with it and help my mum out who was going through a difficult time. This chapter has been hard for me to complete because I've almost had to change the whole episode to fit my story.

I'd like to take a moment and say, don't forget mother's day on Sunday please cherish your time with your mum because life is too short not to celebrate those moments. If you are a mum then Happy Mother's day to you.
