Flying

It all happened so fast, Apple didn't even have time to shriek. One minute that psycho Rotbart was jumping off her seventh floor balcony with HER in his grasp. And the next, they were plummeting towards the clouds at top speed.

Wait, the clouds?! Apple thought in disbelief. But when she looked down, she saw Ever After High growing smaller and smaller beneath them.

"We're flying?" Apple said in a small, stunned voice.

"Gee, how'd you figure that?" Rotbart asked sarcastically. And to his surprise, a big smile spread over Apple's face like a sunrise.

"We're flying! OhmyGrimm, we're flying!" She squeaked. "I've always wanted to fly like this!"

Rotbart stared at Apple; he hadn't expected this reaction at all. And something about her pure joy about soaring through the sky made his stomach flip-flop a little.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!" Apple exclaimed as they soared through the clouds. "I'm queen of the world!"

Rotbart rolled his eyes. "Only in my nightmares..." He muttered. But Apple was too elated to take offence.

"How are we even doing this?!" She asked.

"Magic cloak, remember?"

"Oh yeah..." Apple said as she glanced at Rotbart's feathered cloak. "But how am I flying?" She wanted to know.

A wicked gleam appeared in Rotbart's eye. "Like this." He said. And he let go of Apple and let her fall for a few seconds.

"AAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" Apple shrieked. But before she could get completely hysterical, Rotbart swooped down and caught her.

"See? As long as I'm touching you, you can fly too-OWWW!" Rotbart flinched in pain as Apple smacked him across the face. "What was THAT for?!"

"For dropping me, you ass! Don't you EVER do that again!"

Rotbart glared back. "Don't tempt me, princess." He said darkly.

The look he gave Apple would have scared her silly three months ago. But now she just glared right back at him. For several minutes they just flew through the air, glaring at each other.

And then the fireworks started.
