Inspired by "July found by Chance" with an evil twist to canon Twilight.

1. DOESN'T FIT

The last was lanky, less bulky, with spiked, blond hair.

Bella shook her head, hoping to re-sort her thoughts. He did have blond hair. Distress skittered up her spine, unnerved by this generic non-descript characterization in her head. As soon as the sensation disappeared, she dismissed its warning. It held no merit. So, her thoughts continued.

He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students.

Bella nodded, agreeing with herself. Nothing warranted any misgivings in her thoughts this time.

She next assessed the females in the group that had caught her attention. All very pale and extraordinarily beautiful individuals. She could not help herself, literally, when she asked, "Who are they?" to Jessica, the girl from Spanish who's name she had forgotten.

Had she wanted to ask this? Yes and no. Her curiosity inclined her to speak. Maybe more so forced her to. So, without thinking she asked about 'them'. But another part of her, a sliver of who she was, questioned this choice. Not in wanting to deny her interest to know more about them but out of her previous disturbance. The pale-blond spiked hair boy amongst the group. Of course, he fit in…but did he? She was unsure why she was having misgivings over a stranger she was observing for the first time.

Her head tilted in their direction, compelling her to meet the eyes of the group she was apprehensive to learn more about. Instead of embarrassment flushing through her when she averted his gaze, shame gave way.

Shame? Why shame?

"That's Mike and-" Her Spanish class compadre was still blabbering on, but her smug voice was muted in Bella's head.

Mike? He looks like a Mike. But something doesn't seem right. Like he doesn't fit?

"Sorry-" Bella tried to smooth over the fact that she was still oblivious to Jessica's name, "could you repeat that?"

Well, no. That's what she wanted to say. Instead, she struggled to say, "They are…very nice looking." Struggled because her throat lodged with any other word she had selected from her mind to speak. Mortified over what she had chosen to say, she covered her mouth.

Confused?

Let's rewind to the pivotal scene that took place before Bella saw Mike Cullen for the first time in this story of Twi- Soliel.

Isabella "Bella" Swan's day was going forth as expected for the first day of high school in a small town. Trigonometry was her first class in her schedule that she felt animosity towards. Solely based on the subject though. After stammering through her self-introduction to the class, she tripped along the way to the seat she was assigned to take by Mr. Varner, the teacher. To her surprise, it wasn't her own two shoes she tripped over. Instead, it was a book. Upon closer inspection in her time facing the ground, where she caught herself with her hands, it was a heavily weathered black book stripped of its plastic cover. Bella squinted to catch the engraving of the name Soleil with scratch lines that looked to be the marking of a pen. She picked up the book to return it to its owner, but found it snatched from her hand by Mr. Varner.

"Adalene," the teacher tutted, waving the book in the air towards Bella and the book's owner. The pages flapping in the air caught Bella's eye. If she wasn't mistaken, the book was written in French. "This is a tripping hazard that I am confiscating. Bella, please take your seat."

Bella wanted to interject that it was her own fault but found herself saying nothing as she took her seat, as was asked. Trigonometry and then Spanish class whirled by for her. As if she had blinked and then she found herself following this girl with wildly curly dark hair to a lunch table in the cafeteria. Bella's awareness of the peculiar way that time was passing still did not cause her to skip a beat as she followed this girl. Although it was nearly insignificant to notice at first, Bella could not deny that her attention was heightened to her surroundings. Scrutinizing everything.

It remained subtle, until in entered the 'Cullens' and this wayward telling of Twi- Soliel began.

In the simplest way possible, have you ever heard of Twilight?

Think of it like this:

Find. And. Replace.

A function in Microsoft Word used to swap Mike and Edward to make a new story. A story where…

About three things I was absolutely positive:

First, Mike was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him – and I am pretty sure he cannot control it – that believed he was meant for me.

And third, I found myself drawn to someone else- Edward.

Also. Something is fucking wrong in this town! I am NOT crazy.

MY ONE & ONLY DISCLAIMER for this story: All the Twilight gang, story settings, borrowed text from Twilight, etc. are the property of StephM. This story is just for funnsies. Any original characters (perhaps just Adalene) and plot are my 'brain child' that picks at the Twilight canon to make this story a thing. & inspiration for this plot came "July found by Chance" and my recent obsession with web novels that twist the original plot of a story. No copyright infringement is intended. Fanfic is just Fanfic. For fans. Written by fans. No fans make money. We just love the characters enough to bend them to our story lines ;)
