Chapter 49
Goodbye
Emma told the tattoo artist she needed some air and the pair walked outside of the parlor. That's when Sean laid into the truth. She just looked at Sean crestfallen, "So let me get this straight, you're having a baby."
"Not exactly but -" Sean sighed knowing they were about to argue.
"Sean, what the fuck? So all the shit you told me that night at The Dot, what was that?"
"The truth, the God honest truth I promise, I swear." He tried to calm her down but it was no use.
"You hooked up with your 'best friend' from home and then thought about me that's the issue."
"I know it sounds really really bad. It was a mistake we were drunk, very very drunk. She knows all about you though, she always has."
"And that makes it okay? No! I never heard you mention her once so who here were you trying to be with? Were you ever planning on telling me about this?"
"It wasn't like that." Sean mumbled, "and besides I love you. No okay if you want me to be honest it was a one night stand."
"Evidently it is like that if you guys totally slept together and now suddenly she winds up pregnant? Do you understand how that makes me feel? It undermines everything we've ever been through!"
"Emma you're overreacting."
"But these are my reactions! I'm allowed to react however I damn well please." She pulled away from him as he got closer, "I mean it's not everyday your boyfriend has a child from someone other than myself! Oh right because I'm infertile is that the big issue? I can't provide for a baby because I'm fucking sterile."
"What if we adopted her?"
"I'm not okay with this, can't we jump over the first hurdle before we do that? How could I trust you?"
"Please Emma can you listen to me for just five seconds hear me out!"
Emma was silent with her arms crossed, he was silent too so she encouraged him, "Go on."
"I want to be with you. It-it's not like I'm leaving you for Camille or lying to you. I know you always wanted to have a baby and now we can have one and even if it's not biologically yours and the situation isn't exactly ideal. I was just thinking perhaps this could be something good for us like making the most out of the situation. Camille told me she's not ready for this, she wants someone to adopt her baby so she could go on with her life. This could be our new start."
"I need some time to figure this out." Emma told him after processing what he told her as the tears welled up in her eyes.
"Where does this leave us?" He asked with concern.
"I don't know." Emma shook her head at a loss of what to say, she walked past him and back into the tattoo parlor to get her tattoo finished. Sean had no idea what to do, he simply waited for her outside.
When they arrived back at Sean's parents house, Emma immediately started packing up her things in the bedroom. Sean stood in the crook of the door and just watched her at first. He could tell she was upset, and then she said, "Manny warned me about accepting you back into my life and of course like a dumbass I like 'oh no not my Sean he would never hurt me again!' Like a fucking idiot."
"Emma please reconsider this, please don't leave me." Sean begged with a crack in his voice.
"You should've thought of this when you hooked up with her and then barged on back into my life only for this explosion to happen!"
"I keep telling you it wasn't like that!"
"Bull shit!" Emma exclaimed picking up her bag and flung it over her shoulder, " I'm calling an uber. You're the one always leaving now it's my turn." Emma tried to follow her out but the car had already arrived. A wave of deja vu waved upon him as he looked into the backseat car window and saw her. She looked at him, and he at her as the car raced from the driveway.

Darcy's father was out of town and it was just Spinner and Darcy holding down the fort. They hadn't spoken much since their fight and Darcy took her sister's advice and decided it was now they needed to talk. "Spin, can we talk?"
"I guess." Spinner answered devoid of emotion wondering why she wanted to talk.
"I made a mistake." Darcy told him point blank, "my drinking is out of control. How did you know when yours was?"
"When you told me." He answered simply, "you told me I smelt of it."
There was a silence, "I knew if I told you what I did you'd never forgive me so I just beat you to the punch and I thought you know it'd hurt less but it actually hurt more."
"What happened to us?"
"We, yes we suffered a loss. I made it about myself because I blamed myself because I was in the driver's seat. Inside I suffered because I'm stubborn. I didn't think you'd understand because you know, she wasn't inside of you like she was with me. One day I'm expecting this innocent, beautiful girl to come into our lives and make us completely whole, a family what have you. And then she's gone. Now what do we have?"
"Darcy . . you have me, this isn't just something that happened to us and now that she's gone it's done and all."
"I want to have you." Darcy confessed tearfully, "but what I did was stupid in the aftermath. I pushed you away."
"I don't care what you did. I should've let you deal your own way and all I wanted to do -"
"No you did it right and I did it the wrong way."
"You had to do it the way you did it." He shrugged and then sat down in a chair across from her. "You want to talk? Let's talk."
"I wish I never pushed you away."
"Why?"
"Don't make me say why. You know why."
"I don't know why."
"Because I still love you and I think I always will."
Spinner didn't say anything at first, he just reached for her hand before he spoke, "I still love you too."
"I don't want to drink anymore."
"I don't want you to drink anymore." Spinner slightly smiled.
"What do we do?" Darcy asked squeezing his hand.
"We deal with this . . together."
"Together," She beamed softly, "I like the sound of that."
