Chapter Fifteen
Running over what I knew about the Wraith in my head I made a quick plan of attack which was blown away when the Wraith got within three feet of me and stupidly thrusting out his feeding hand towards me like I was just going to let him feed from me. Growling in anger at the way he was treating me like some dumb animal that was only good for food, I used his forward momentum against him and jammed the knife I had into the mouth on the feeding hand. As he howled in pain and reeled backwards I shot him almost point blank in the eyes causing him to screech even louder as he fell onto his butt clawing at his face in pain.
Knowing that John and the others would be worried about me if I didn't appear directly after Aiden's unconscious body I moved forward quickly and grabbed the Wraith's weapon from where he had dropped it in his pain. It would go far to help further my studies on the thought process of the Wraith as an intelligent race.
Tossing the weapon through the Stargate I turned my attention to the obviously not healing and in pain Wraith and used brutal force and gravity to run forward and flip the Wraith upside down and harshly twisting his head causing his neck to snap loudly and with a slight grimace I pulled upwards ripping his head off his body.
Grabbing the now decapitated body by it's useless feeding arm I drug it over to the Stargate with me while keeping hold of the head with my other hand. I would need the full Wraith in order to be able to run all of the tests necessary back at Atlantis.
Stepping into the Stargate I managed to block out my fear of the creatures outside of the wormhole and arrived back in Atlantis just to get slammed into by a large muscular body that nearly threw me back into the Stargate.
Tossing the Wraith's dead body to the side the weight of it pulled me along with it and using my legs to catch myself I managed to avoid going through the Stargate again. Lucky for me as the Stargate powered off not three seconds later.
Wondering who I had slammed into I glanced over and realized that it was Ronan who was now on his butt on the floor staring at me with a look of mixed emotions but the one I could pick out was admiration.
"What the-?"
"Randy?"
"Is it dead?"
"You killed that?"
The last voice which I knew to be Ronan's caught my attention as those were the words that solidified our soulmate bond and I started to glance down at my hands curious to see what both the finished products looked like before remembering that I needed to get the dead Wraith down to the lab to start working on separating it's various DNA strands.
"Yes, I killed it. The Wraith are swarming that planet I wouldn't advise going back for several years. There are many Wraith proof jail cells if you would feel like keeping Aiden in one of them so he doesn't escape again. I can lead you to them but I need to get started working on the biological weapon that could destroy the Wraith and or possibly their need to feed on humans." I said already moving towards the secret doorway that led to stairs that would lead me down past the jail cell's and back to the biological laboratory.
Using my mental connection to Atlantis I had the secret door opening before I got to it and heard multiple gasps behind me as it slid open making them realize that what had looked to be a wall was actually a secret doorway.
"Okay guys you heard Randy. Let's take Aiden down to the jail cells. Rodney grab the Wraith weapon and follow us, I'm sure you'll be of help to her with the science. Let's get a move on people." John said from close behind me.
Moving down the steps at a rapid pace eager to get back to the laboratory and get started on things right away I almost forgot to have Atlantis open the secret doorway that led out to the hallway that was full of Wraith proof jail cells.
"John through that doorway the hallway you'll find is full of Wraith proof jail cells just toss Aiden in one of them and shut the door. The cells all have a protection on them so the prisoner, Wraith or not, can't touch anyone through the bars. Rodney follow me." I said with only a seconds pause before I continued on my way without looking behind me as I began to think of several possible ways to separate the Wraith's various DNA strands.
"Whoa whoa whoa young lady. First I need to get a good look at your neck." A male voice with a heavy Scottish accent said from behind me, surprising me as I had completely forgotten about the small wound on my neck.
"Then follow me Doc because I don't have time to stop." I called back figuring that the voice belonged to a doctor, maybe even the doctor that I had seen before but had never talked to.
"Fine but you'll have to show me the way out when I'm done." The guy replied.
"Ronan, why don't you go with them? You can help Randy move the Wraith around and escort the Doc to the jail cell so he can check on Aiden." John said from somewhere behind me but his voice sounded a little muffled due to how deep into my thoughts I was getting as I sorted out various bits of information to try and figure out what I wanted to start with when we got to the lab.
Finally reaching the lab Ronan helped me set the Wraith's body up onto the metal table in the middle of the room that was used for dissecting.
"Okay, stand still please." The Doctor said as he came into the lab carrying his black bag of supplies glancing over my shoulder at him realized he was the Doctor I had been introduced to before.
*What's his name again? Brick? Beak? Beck..Beckett! Doctor Beckett.* I remembered. Curious and a little worried that I had forgotten his name so soon but figuring it had to do with all of the other information that was floating around in my head I pushed my worry aside.
"Sure. Rodney please put the Wraith weapon in the holster in the container on the far left wall. Ronan can you please put this head into the liquid filled container over there?" I said holding the head out to Ronan who took it by the hair and took it over to the container while I turned my attention to Doctor Beckett or as I decided to call him 'Doc' for short.
"Now lift your head up please, I need to see to clean the wound." Doc said as looked around for a clean place to set his bag. Holding out my hands he gave me a thankful nod and handed me the bag to hold while he dug in it for what he needed.
"So Rodney, Ronan, do either of you know the Ancient's language?" I asked while lifting my head so Doc could see. I figured this was a good time to start learning a little bit more about my soulbonds.
"I know how to read a little bit but I'm still learning." Rodney said.
"No." Was Ronan's short reply.
"Okay, hang on a second." I replied as the Doc began to use an alcohol wipe on my neck to clean up the dried blood. Using my mental connection with Atlantis I had the computers switch to English.
"That's incredible." I heard Rodney mutter but it was Doc who had my full attention as I realized something at the same time as him, the wound on my neck was healed.
"Sorry to waste your time Doc." I told him while mentally adding a note to run my DNA and John's to see what changes had been made to my DNA besides the obvious difference in the XY and XX chromosomes.
"...although we are monozygotic twins but we weren't identical which is apparently a rare thing so...but actually that shouldn't change anything although if I get pregnant I could end up with twins too...or John and Teyla could. I wonder if twins are a rare thing out here..."
"What does that mean?" Ronan's voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I blinked looking around the room. I was surprised to realize that Doc was gone and Ronan was standing in the doorway while Rodney was reading various information on the far side of the room. Realizing that Ronan had been talking to me I thought back to what I had last said and answered his question.
"Monozygotic twins are two, usually identical, babies born from one egg. It's more common for twins to either be identical or fraternal." I replied although I had the feeling that Ronan wouldn't understand my answer. Wanting to make Ronan feel useful as I set about drawing the blood from the Wraith I remembered the weapons that I had fixed up and I decided that would be a good way to have Ronan help me.
"Ronan how are you with weapons? Because if you're good with them and you wouldn't mind I was hoping you could help me out. I finished making the hand-held weapons that the Ancients used to take with them to new worlds but I haven't tried any of them out and I might actually need to fix them or improve them if possible and it would really help me if you could tell me what you think they need." I said hoping that he would be okay with it.
"Sure where are they?" Ronan asked, actually looking a bit excited about it which made me happy because I did like messing around with weapons sometimes and I had a feeling that Rodney was definitely not into playing around with weapons if it wasn't a life or death situation.
Taking a second to map out the way in my head I gave him the directions to the weapons room and made sure that Atlantis opened the firing range inside of the weapons room that I hadn't even known was there when I was in there. Shrugging I realized that there were a lot of things that I knew now that I hadn't then.
"How much will this knowledge change me?" I mumbled thoughtfully to myself before pushing it aside as I turned my attention back to Rodney.
