A/N: I wanted to make this chapter more serious while also delving into the way his mother views the two of them, considering the aspect of the story. I want to keep it slow and natural with Kellyn and Wendy, rather than the two immediately jumping into a relationship. I'm sorry this chapter is so short, life has been...busy, but I want to keep my schedule of Sunday/Monday postings! Love you all!

A/N: I don't own Pokemon!

Ranger School: Chapter 14

Hearing those words made Kellyn and Wendy shiver, especially considering how Kincaid's behavior usually tends to be. However, the duo decided not to worry about the principal as Mr. Caplan continued to explain.

"Kincaid is extremely crafty, so the best word of advice I can give you guys after everything that took place is to avoid him when possible. I know it's not easy to do that, considering how he's sneaky like an Ekans, but in the event you do see him, be as careful as you can with what you say." Mr. Caplan said.

"So when it comes to Kincaid, in the event that we do see him…there's just…nothing we can do?" Wendy asked as Mr. Caplan shook his head.

"I'm afraid not. I'm certain you guys know this, but he doesn't really give off good vibes, so most students just steer clear of him." Mr. Caplain said.
"Thank you Mr. Caplan, we'll do our best to avoid Kincaid as much as possible." Kellyn said.

"Good, good. That's all I wanted to share, take care of yourself guys! If there's anything you guys need help with, let me know!" Mr. Caplan said.

"We definitely will, thanks Mr. Caplan!" Wendy said as the two said their farewells and left the room.

After Kellyn and Wendy left the room, the duo walked down the hallway and eventually left the building. Kellyn and Wendy chatted along the way until they reached the bench with the view of the lake. It seemed as though the duo didn't go to the beautiful area for a very long time, but nevertheless, they were delighted to get some time to unwind.

Kellyn looked at the beauty, and happily took in the simple yet breathtaking view of the lake. Wendy went up next to him, also taking in the sights of the still water as Pokémon frolicked around. As there were now Pokémon in and around the Ranger School, Water-type Pokémon decided to show up more often, while also getting used to the students and faculty of the Ranger School. Ironically, whenever Kincaid would come around this area, which wasn't often, Pokémon would avoid him entirely.

The duo watched the Pokémon play in the lake for some time without saying a word, as their silence was just as profound as when they spoke. A little bit later, Wendy and Kellyn sat back down on the bench, which still provided them an ample view of the lake. A short while later, Wendy turned to face Kellyn as a gentle breeze began to blow. Kellyn was enjoying the cool breeze as Wendy smiled.

"You know, I always wanted to become a Pokémon Ranger ever since I was a child…and at first Ranger School was something that I didn't even think was possible. But now I'm actually here, and it feels amazing to me. Even after the few problems that we went through, I'm still glad to be here." Wendy said.

"I can understand that, it definitely wasn't easy growing up, and I never thought I'd be here. I'm really happy to attend the Ranger School." Kellyn said.

"I agree, it's nice here. Most of the people here are really nice, so you never have to feel uneasy being around anyone on campus!" Wendy said.

"That's true, especially with this area that we're at." Kellyn said.

The two enjoyed the gentle breeze for a little bit longer and then got up. Kellyn did a quick glance at his Styler and saw that it was seven P.M., with the area itself becoming rather dark in the short time frame they were outside. The duo walked over to the cafeteria as they were rather hungry and wanted some food. Kellyn and Wendy went inside and got some roasted berries and pasta, eating together and soon finishing their food. Afterwards, they headed to their dorms and soon reached their respective rooms.

Once Kellyn and Wendy were about to enter their rooms, they smiled at each other, as they truly enjoyed the time they spent together.

"I had a great time today, I'll be seeing you tomorrow Wendy, if that's okay with you!" Kellyn said.

"I had a fun time today as well! It'd be great seeing you tomorrow Kellyn! I'll be heading in for the night!" Wendy said.

"I'll do the same, good night Wendy!" Kellyn said as he and Wendy entered their respective dorm rooms.

Kellyn took off his shoes and locked the door before hurrying into his pajamas. With a blush on his face, Kellyn went into bed as he began to relax and unwind.

'Man, today was such a great day with Wendy. I really enjoy spending time with her, especially today. I can't believe I managed to work up the courage to tell her I'd like to see her tomorrow, before she managed to do so. It was nice to do that.' Kellyn thought as he laid down on the bed.

Twenty minutes later, Kellyn received a call from his mother, and he happily answered.

"Hi mom, nice to hear from you! How was your day?" Kellyn asked.

"Hello sweetheart, good evening! My day was going good, what about yourself?" Kellyn's mother asked.

"I had a nice time after class with one of my friends I've told you about! Well…in all honesty I'm getting a bit close to her, so we're spending a good amount of time together during and after classes." Kellyn said as his mother giggled.

"Oh? That's good, I'm very happy for you! I always told you growing up that a person would appreciate you for who you are! Plus, if you two are getting close enough that you feel romantic feelings for her, then that would be even better!" Kellyn's mother said.

'Romantic feelings huh? Well I'd be lying if I said I wasn't attracted to her intelligence and beauty.' Kellyn thought.

"You're right, it's a good thing she's a genuine person. You remember how my last relationship was…" Kellyn said.

"I know son, I know. That woman was abusive, sneaky and crafty. But I have to say this as your mother…even though that previous relationship was beyond horrid, remember that every person is different. If you notice anything strange like the last one had, run." Kellyn's mother said.

"I understand, honestly if it wasn't for your advice I'd probably still be in that relationship." Kellyn said.

"I'm glad that you're not…so, to change the mood, tell me about this new friend of yours!" Kellyn's mother said.

"Hrmm, let's see now…she's intelligent, friendly, and very understanding! I really feel at ease being around her. I have two other friends, and I also feel comfortable around them!" Kellyn said.

"Oooh, I see! Would you like to tell me about those two?" Kellyn's mother asked.

"Of course! So the two other friends I made are actually dating, they're both really nice as well so it's great to be around them!" Kellyn said.

"Interesting! So, back to your new friend, what else about her do you like?" Kellyn's mother asked as Kellyn thought for a moment.

'Heh, of course my mother would like to know about any possible love interests. I can't really blame her though, especially after my ex-girlfriend, she's been worried about me getting hurt again.' Kellyn thought.

"Hmm, well…she has a lot of ambition! Even if things seem tough for her, she doesn't give up at all, and just keeps trying. She reminds me a lot of you, actually!" Kellyn said as his mother chuckled.

"She does sound like a dependable woman! I have to know something else though, what's her name and what does she look like?" Kellyn's mother asked.

"Well, her name's Wendy, and she has gorgeous green eyes and green hair! Despite the impressive way she carries herself, Wendy is really a great person, and I appreciate how she respects everyone as a person." Kellyn said.

'That name and description seems very familiar…how intriguing! Well, no matter, my son sounds madly in love with this Wendy! If the two end up together, it sounds like she'll treat him right!' Kellyn's mother thought.

"She sounds like a keeper! Ambitious, intelligent and friendly along with being beautiful! I'm happy for you son! I'm afraid I have to get going to bed though!" Kellyn's mother said.

"Aww, alright mom, I'll talk to you soon! Good night!" Kellyn said.

"Good night son, love you!" Kellyn's mother said.
