Ranger School : Chapter 17

After the call ended between Keith and Linda, the former decided to head back to his dorm room, as the redhead figured it'd be best to let Linda handle Kellyn and Wendy.

Soon enough, Kellyn waited around for Wendy outside of her activities class, and it was only a few minutes of waiting before she came out. A smile was prevalent on her face as she saw Kellyn, and the latter smiled back as well, equally thrilled to see Wendy.

"Hi Kellyn, ready to go and check out some clothing?" Wendy asked.

"Sure Wendy, ready when you are!" Kellyn said as the two soon departed the building.

Linda on the other hand had hurried back to her dorm room and changed into all black clothing, consisting of black gloves, dark blue jeans and a black jacket.

'Perfect…what a great disguise!' Linda thought as she rushed out of her dorm room.

Eventually, Linda reached up to Wendy and Kellyn after eventually hurrying through the building.

The duo was talking along the way to the campus's exit, not knowing that Linda was following them.

'Interesting…I have to see where they're heading…' Linda thought.

Eventually, Kellyn and Wendy reached Pueltown and came across one of the more luxurious clothing stores. The two entered and Linda watched from afar, not daring to enter the establishment in the event that she'll be seen.

The inside of the clothing store was simple yet elegant, with sections divided up neatly and dressing rooms towards the back. With separate areas for both men and women, the medium-sized and well-lit store was definitely a good choice. Not wanting to pressure Kellyn, Wendy simply allowed him to browse whatever clothing he liked. Kellyn observed the multitude of clothes on display and was struggling to see what would fit him best.

'So many options…what should I choose from? My fashion sense isn't bad…but I'm just wondering what color choices would really be best for me. I want to ask Wendy what her thoughts are…but perhaps she'd rather let me decide on my own. It'd be good if that employee would possibly come to help…but she doesn't look interested at all, she didn't even say hello when we entered.' Kellyn thought as he heard a sigh from the employee at the counter, who was busy on her phone.

'Man…just an hour more before I can close this place up and head home. We didn't have our usual customers today, though some sales were pretty good. This dork from the Ranger School that just entered with woman surely can't afford here…maybe he'll ask her to buy clothes for him.' The woman thought as she continued playing on her phone.

Wendy glanced at the employee a few times, wondering if she'd come to assist, and unfortunately, the woman didn't move a muscle.

'She's been busy on her phone since we entered. Are the Ranger School uniforms throwing her off? Either way, it's horrible to not even acknowledge a customer. I'll approach her and see if she'll be willing to help.' Wendy thought.

Wendy approached the woman at the counter and the employee looked up at her phone. At first, the woman was about to not pay Wendy any attention and continue back to her phone, but upon glancing at the green hair, she did a double take.

'Wait a second…green hair? There's only one person in Almia who has that color…I heard she's quite wealthy…though I can't remember the exact reason. Maybe I'll see how much stuff I can get her to buy!' The employee thought.

"Excuse me, we're looking for some help here. Can you help us out?" Wendy asked as the employee snapped out of her brief daze.

"Y-yes ma'am, right away!" The employee said.

The employee walked over to Kellyn, with a disinterested look on her face the entire time. Kellyn, still unable to decide what would be best for him to wear, was relieved when Wendy showed up next to him with the employee. Even though Kellyn was a bit hesitant on asking the woman for any suggestions due to her overall annoyed demeanor, the young man decided to not let it bother him.

"Hello, I really need your help with choosing some suitable clothing to wear. I'm not exactly sure what'd be best for me." Kellyn said.

'I cannot believe this is the guy I need to help. I'd rather help out this rich lady standing right next to me, but she'd rather me help out this dweeb she's with. The look of amazement on her face though…is she really enamored by this average guy?' The woman thought as she cleared her throat.

"Well sir, the type of clothing you'll have depends on two things, your budget, and what kind of occasion you're going for. Is it a wedding, a party, or a date?" The employee asked, adding noticeable malice when mentioning the word, date.

Kellyn was taken aback by the woman's hostile tone, and Wendy without a doubt wasn't happy at all.

"You know, from the moment we entered, you've ignored us; but the second I step up to the counter, your eyes lit up. Kellyn, I'm not forcing you to do anything, but would you like to leave?" Wendy asked.

"I would, I don't appreciate being talked to like that." Kellyn said as the two headed towards the door.

Just as the two were prepared to exit the building, an older woman in her late sixties walked through jubilantly. Upon noticing Wendy, the owner was curious why both customers' hands were empty.

"Hello there, good evening. I'm sorry to bother you both, but as the owner of this clothing store, I wanted to thank you both for stopping by. I apologize if there was anything in my store that couldn't suit either of your needs, but please tell me what sort of style the two of you would like. I aim to accommodate all customers." The owner said.

"Well ma'am…it's not that your clothing was bad…but your employee was rude to us. We never even got a simple hello from when we entered and she was just…on her phone the whole time." Kellyn said as the owner turned to the employee.

"Carolyn…you're a new employee, and you have much to learn. Especially when it comes to a customer…it doesn't matter how they dress, speak or look, they all matter. I would like for you to apologize to both of these polite youngsters." The owner said.

"I apologize…it was rude of me to be judgmental like that. I hope that the both of you will patronize this business and forgive me for how I acted." Carolyn said as Wendy and Kellyn gave her words some thought.

"Considering your apology was genuine, I accept it." Kellyn said as Wendy smiled at him.

'That's what made me truly fall for you…you have such a kind heart.' Wendy thought.

"Because Kellyn accepts your apology and will stay here, so will I. Mrs. Carolyn, can you please assist us with Kellyn's initial request?" Wendy asked as Carolyn became a bit flustered.

'Gah…she's so polite it's almost terrifying!' Carolyn thought as the owner hovered nearby, wondering how her employee would react.

"C-certainly, er, Mrs. Gwendolyn, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers as well?" Carolyn asked.

"Of course I can…let's get started!" Gwendolyn said.

Eventually, Kellyn tried on various articles of clothing after explaining to the two women he'd be going on a date with Wendy. Before, Carolyn would've been stunned, but considering the talk that Wendy and her boss gave her, the woman's attitude changed.

Now, the employee was helping Kellyn with a number of shirts, pants and shoes that the man had a fondness form with some assistance from her boss. Eventually, an outfit was settled on for Kellyn, which was a light blue dress shirt, black pants and black shoes with accents of blue adorning the footwear.

"Now pay close attention Carolyn, the reason I chose this outfit for this young man is because the blue goes with his eye color and complexion, while the pants and shoes are a nice contrast to his skin tone and hair color." Gwendolyn said as her employee nodded in understanding.

Once Kellyn had finished, Wendy couldn't help but admire him gleefully.

"U-um…what do you think, Wendy?" Kellyn asked.

"You look amazing!" Wendy said as Kellyn blushed.

The owner then decided to show Wendy the various dresses to match with Kellyn the best, and rather quickly, Wendy chose a simple and elegant blue dress with black stripes down the side, and black heels to match.

Wendy went ahead and tried on the dress, coming out after a short while. Kellyn was completely enamored by Wendy's natural beauty, and blushed once he saw how stunning she looked.

"What do you think Kellyn? Do I look okay?" Wendy asked.

"Y-you look gorgeous!" Kellyn said as his blush deepened, while Wendy giggled.

After that, the duo were ready to checkout, with the bill totaling ten thousand Poké dollars. As Kellyn went to take out his wallet to pay, Wendy instead informed Kellyn that she'd use her card to pay the full amount. Of course, Kellyn felt guilty if Wendy had to do that, but the young woman politely insisted, and she paid for everything.

Once that was finished, the duo left the clothing store with their outfits in their bags and their Ranger School uniforms on. Linda, who was outside for around a half hour, was relieved the two were gone from the store.

'Finally they're gone…time to follow them back.' Linda thought as the two headed back to the Ranger School, with Linda following them from a short distance away.

Kellyn and Wendy talked along the way, with Kellyn in particular being really happy.

"Thank you Wendy, I really had a nice time at that clothing store despite being treated so coldly at first. I do feel horrible about you paying for both of our outfits though…can I pay you back?" Kellyn asked as Wendy shook her head.

"I agree, she was rude at first but I'm happy you told Carolyn how you felt! As for paying me back…definitely not! I'm happy that you're happy, and you've been there for me ever since I got to know you. We're going to have a great time on Friday!" Wendy said as Kellyn gave her a smile.

"We definitely will, and…thank you for everything, seriously." Kellyn said as Wendy playfully ruffled his hair.

"Haha, it's no problem!" Wendy said.

Eventually the two entered the dorm building and headed up to their dorm rooms. Linda on the other hand, satisfied that she was able to observe what Wendy and Kellyn were doing, went back to her dorm room. As Kellyn and Wendy reached their doors, the two of them were a bit shy once more, with Kellyn shuffling his feet a little.

"Meowth got your tongue?" Wendy asked as Kellyn chuckled.

"Yeah, for a little bit. I'll see you tomorrow, and of course, on Friday, r-right?" Kellyn asked as Wendy happily smiled.

"Of course! I'll see you soon Kellyn, good night!" Wendy said as Kellyn wished her good night.

Kellyn entered his dorm room while Wendy did the same. The young man changed into his pajamas and put his clothes for the date on the dresser. Once Kellyn went on the bed, he immediately fell asleep.

- Friday morning -

Friday morning had rolled around and Kellyn got out of bed. It didn't take long for the man to finish getting ready, and he left the bathroom soon enough. Afterwards, Kellyn began to look around for an iron to press his clothes and was dismayed he didn't have any. Once he took the shoes, shirt and pants out, Kellyn noticed that, to his relief, the shirt and pants didn't require any need to be pressed at all.

'Phew…what a relief…I'm glad this is made of such unique material, now I don't have to worry about looking unprepared…' Kellyn thought as he got dressed and headed out the door.

To the Student Ranger's relief, he saw that Wendy had exited around the same time he had, as the last thing he wanted to do was have her wait. Even though Kellyn saw Wendy in the dress already, he truly was stunned at seeing her grace and beauty. The young man tried to avoid gazing too much at Wendy, considering how much the dress further flattered her body. On the other hand, Wendy was just as flustered with how Kellyn looked.

"W-wow…you seriously look fantastic! Are you all ready to go?" Wendy asked as Kellyn began to blush.

"I-I am…" Kellyn said as Wendy held out her hand.

"Perfect, let's have fun today!" Wendy said as Kellyn took her hand.

Despite Wendy doing her best to appear confident, she was extremely flustered as her and Kellyn began to walk towards Pueltown.

'A-awesome, I-I'm actually holding hands with Kellyn!' Wendy thought as Kellyn was just as flustered.

'Wow…I'm with Wendy right now…and we're going to Pueltown…holding hands!' Kellyn thought.

Linda on the other hand spotted Kellyn and Wendy from the dorm building as they first left the campus. Considering the fact that the two were on a date, Linda was more than eager to mess with them. Sporting a dark gray shirt and beige pants, Linda followed the duo as they entered Pueltown.

Once the two reached Pueltown, Kellyn and Wendy saw the fair going on, with people buying desserts, riding on various attractions, and walking around to see the sights. Linda reached a little bit ahead of them, and walked around with a Magneton she previously captured through a walkway seldom used.

'Perfect, I blend right in. Everyone's around with their Pokémon, so I'm not sticking out like a sore thumb.' Linda thought as Kellyn and Wendy looked at the Ferris wheel.

"Say, I love Ferris wheels, they're always fun. Would you like to go on it?" Wendy asked.

"Hmm, sure! Let's go!" Kellyn said.

"If you ever get scared at the top, don't be too afraid to hold me, okay?" Wendy asked as Kellyn blushed.

"N-no problem!" Kellyn said as the two went in one of the cabins.

The ride soon started after it was completely filled up, and the operator started the Ferris Wheel. Kellyn was enjoying the ride as it started, considering that he hadn't been on one in some time. Wendy was sitting in the seat across from him, a joyful look on her face as she saw the beauty of Pueltown from afar.

"Man, this is really cool…I know most people just consider it a Ferris wheel, but it's fun to enjoy something relaxing like this." Kellyn said.

"I agree, it's nice to just have fun every so often! I'm really glad to spend today with you, Kellyn." Wendy said.

"I'm glad to be spending time with you also, Wendy. I wouldn't want to do so with anyone else." Kellyn said as Wendy tried to hide a prevalent blush on her face.

'Heheh, this'll show the two of them!' Linda thought.

Wendy went over to Kellyn's side, with the latter blushing profusely from the close proximity of the two of them. As the duo gazed into each other's eyes, they began to lean forward to kiss.

Linda however, had other plans; while people weren't paying attention to her, the woman pretended to tie her shoes and ordered the Magneton to use Thunder Wave, sending enough electricity to stop the ride and completely stall it.
