Chapter 1
Andirion held his long sword, white fang, in his right hand and his shield in his left. His eyes gazed over the quickly mustered Warband, he saw his lifelong friend Edeon, holding his two handed sword. Amongst the men were some dwarves, holding assorted weapons. One of them shouted "Here they come lads!!!!!!"
As his sentence ended a bull headed beastman charged out of the woods of Averland. He was followed by all sorts of beasts of chaos, there were even a few Minotaurs scattered amongst the beasts. The sound of arrows being drawn back was heard and then a yell "Fire at will you dogs!!!!!! Fire at will" the captain blared.
The arrows flew, some hitting there marks and other hit the ground with a thud. The beastmen were now with in twenty feet of the men. The captain yelled "CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!"
Andirion charged from his position followed closely by Edeon, then came the rest of the volunteers. Then a white light struck the beastmen, amazed Andirion and Edeon both turned and saw Aegis, a warrior priest of Sigmar with his right hand out stretched and his left griping his hammer. With a nod of his head he leapt into a mass of beastmen and battered his way to a nearby Minotaur. The beast rippled with raw chaos energy, the beast roared with challenge and raised it axe of khorne and charged at Aegis. In response Aegis raised his hammer above his head; it glowed with the holy magic of Sigmar. It crashed into the beast's skull, and its head glowed white as it was banished to the chaos wastes.
Andirion and Edeon tore through the mindless herds, there swords were coated with think black blood. Just as the battle seemed certainly won, a large cry came from the woods, then a large band of centigors and war hounds loped out of the think foliage. They slammed into the captains unit. They fought valiantly but there numbers were too low. Then it was Aegis turn he turned aside every foe to make a daring attempt to kill him. Soon he had amassed a mound of corpses. The dwarves and other volunteers were cut down. Aegis told the survivors to form a wedge, they did on the wings were the survivors and in the center was Aegis himself. To his left were Andirion and his right Edeon. Then without warning the warrior priest charged forward. The first to fall were the last men on each side of the wing. By the time they reached the center all that remained was Andirion, Aegis, and Edeon. "Protect me!!!" Shouted Aegis as he lifted his warhammer above his head and began to recite a prayer.
The two did as they were told; they battered a circle of corpse around Aegis. With a loud echoing thud the great book of prayers closed and Aegis slammed the head of his warhammer into the ground. A surge of holy light swept through the beastmen. Some died instantly; others were burned by the ferocity of Aegis' spell. The ring of holy fire spread its reaches until the last beast was slain and Aegis slumped onto his knees. Andirion and Edeon rushed to his side. "We need to get his back to town as fast as possible." Edeon said without pause. "He's alive but barely…….." he said, while taking a deep breath. "Were both exhausted, we need to rest." Andirion said "We don't have time; his life is depending on us." Edeon sighed; he stood up and offered a helping hand to Andirion. They both lifted the Warrior Priest, an arm around a shoulder, with that they set off at a slow pace towards the town of Helmstrumberg.
