The Beginning

Near the last month of summer, sixteen year old Juliette Cortese was called into the family room of her family's estate by her parents. Once she arrived there her parents were already seated on the white cream leather sofa. The room was designed with a warm winter white theme. There was a big window view where you could usually see the snowy white covered hills, but since it's summer time you'll see the luscious green hills. Upon the hills lies the Hilson family's vacation resort, perfect for summer, winter, and any season in between. Juliette was wondering why her parents had such serious expressions on their faces.
Mr. Cortese carefully announced that he had big news to share. Then Juliette's expression showed excitement. "Is mom pregnant? Am I finally going to have a little brother or sister?" Juliette guessed. Suddenly both of her parents had puzzled faces on and Juliette took the hint that her guess was far from the truth. "Actually…" Mrs. Cortese started to say. Mr. Cortese continued slowly," We're going to get a divorce." Water droplets were forming in the sides of Juliette's eyes, but she tried to hold them in. More started to form when she thought of what would happen to the family. She quickly rubbed her eyes as if there was something in there that's making it itchy.
The former Mrs. Cortese now called by her maiden name, Jeannette Reinard, reached out for Juliette to hug her and explain that it wasn't her fault and that they tried to work things out, but they just were too different. Juliette pulled away from her mother. Ms. Reinard announced," I have great news! You and I are moving to Water Springs, California where I can open my own department store and start my own fashion line. There's many new things to explore there. It will be like an adventure."
Juliette was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where her family resort is. She lived there most of her life and the thought of living somewhere else was nearly impossible for her to imagine. Juliette couldn't help, but blurt out her true feelings," You just want to go somewhere totally opposite from her, so you can escape this place and all it's memories. I'll never leave this place!" Her mother rushed out the door with tears feeling offended.
