"I don't like Minneapolis." CJ mumbled as she stepped off the plane and Dean chuckled, lightly nudging her.
"You liked the flight even though we were really far apart."
"Well, when you're invited to join the Mile High Club, it's hard to refuse." CJ mumbled as she followed him to the baggage claim and he chuckled.
"That was so great. I'm sure the flight attendant was onto us."
"If the dirty looks meant anything, I'd say she hates us now." CJ laughed as they came to a stop and she resisted the urge to lean into him. That didn't stop him from leaning down towards her.
"I see Seth, so I'm going to make myself scarce. I'll see you tonight, alright?" He whispered in her ear, his lips brushing against the sensitive skin with every syllable he uttered. She knew that he was trying to get her horny so she made sure to hunt him down for some kind of release later. "I love you, Copeland."
"Ditto, Ambrose." CJ whispered, smiling when he kissed her cheek and went to grab his bag.
God his ass in jeans is fucking wonderful. CJ mused with a smirk as she watched him walk away, but tensed when she felt herself get pulled into Seth's chest. As much as she wanted to push him off, the media needed to believe that they were a happy couple until she found her ammunition to finally leave Seth.
"Hello again." He murmured in her ear before kissing her cheek and she smiled.
"Hi, Seth. Can you let me go? I need my bag."
"You stay here, and I'll get it, okay?" He decided and CJ nodded, feeling like she didn't have a choice in the matter. It wasn't long before he had taken her hand in his and started to lead her away, and she was looking back at Dean while he signed a couple autographs and posed for pictures. "You look great, babe."
"Thanks." She mumbled, looking down at her boots. Dean had actually picked out her outfit, and he remembered him saying something about how hot leggings and boots were together. The plain white vneck long sleeved shirt and leather jacket were afterthoughts, since Dean was so fixated on her ass in the leggings.
"I hope you don't mind, but Hunter and Stephanie are in the car." Seth spoke softly, hoping that she wasn't paying close attention to what was going on.
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"It's a short drive from here to the Target Center, and I told them you weren't feeling too hot so you don't even have to say anything other than hi."
The exasperated sigh that left his girlfriend was enough for Seth to know that he was pushing her out of her comfort zone and that he'd probably pay for it later. But he hoped that she realized that he wasn't given a choice in the matter. The driver opened the door to the limousine and CJ took a deep breath when she saw Stephanie pat the seat beside her.
"It's been so long, Chris. We've got to catch up." She spoke with that usual McMahon confidence and CJ opted not to correct her on her name as she sat down.
"It really has."
"How's the knee doing, champ?" Hunter asked as Seth sat down beside him and CJ shrugged.
"Pretty good. I can walk on it fine, so that's something."
"Such a trooper. Seth tells us that you were pretty broken up over what happened a couple weeks ago." Stephanie commented and CJ nodded, not at all comfortable with being questioned like this.
"Uh, yeah. But I get that he did what he had to do to make himself better." She lied through her teeth, smiling the whole time. Seth knew that she was still pissed about his turn, and she was upset about being in this limo. Her coming with him was supposed to be about them getting closer, but instead they weren't spending any time alone so far. He knew it'd only get worse after the show, since he was celebrating the demise of The Shield with Hunter after the show over drinks. He was promised no strippers and she promised him that if he came to her smelling like anything but his cologne that she'd dump him on the spot and have all of her shit out of his house by Friday night.
He knew that she was done messing around with him. It was now time for him to prove his love to her.
CJ freed herself from the wolf pack that was her boyfriend and his new alliance with the lame excuse of going to find Paul Heyman. Both Hunter and Stephanie looked repulsed at the mention of the one behind the one in twenty one and one, but allowed her to go regardless. She knew they had eyes all over the arena, so she was going to have to play it safe when it came to finding Dean. But she did need to find Paul, before she did anything.
But a certain Diva's Champion caught her eye first.
CJ had never come into contact with Paige, since the night after WrestleMania was spent talking to The Shield and Heyman after vacating the title. She saw Paige pin AJ for the title, but never bothered to congratulate her. She didn't care all that much since she was still pissed about having to leave.
"CJ, I'm surprised to see you around here."
"I'm here with Seth, but I needed to see Heyman. You're going a good job as champion, kid." CJ complimented, putting her hand out for Paige to shake.
"Coming from you, that kind of means something to me." Her snarky tone sold one important factor to CJ. She officially didn't care for Paige. "Thank you."
"Yeah, you're welcome." CJ mumbled, continuing on her search for Paul. She needed advice from her advocate.
What she wasn't expecting was to be pulled into a bathroom. Her mouth was covered and muffled her cries for help, but she soon calmed down when she saw Roman come into view. That could only mean that Dean was her captor and, once she was let go, she turned to face him.
"Assholes. Both of you." She scolded quietly, pointing between them. Roman chuckled, but Dean took her hand and kissed her fingertip.
"Where were you going all by yourself?" Dean asked, genuine concern on his face. "Your highness, you could've-"
"I'm currently untouchable because I'm dating Seth, the newest lapdog of The Authority. You've got nothing to worry about Ambrose." CJ assured, hopping onto the sink counter.
"Where were you going?" Roman repeated Dean's earlier question, watching as Dean wrapped his arms tight around CJ and she let him bury his face into the crook of her neck. He thought the way that he clung to her was out of character for Dean, but he knew that was what love does. It was sweet to him, watching him cling to her and the way she pet his head to comfort him. He was glad that Dean had another rock for when they finally went their separate ways as a team.
"I need to talk to Paul and be honest with him about the pregnancy and I need some advice regarding my relationship."
"You're telling Heyman?" Dean asked and she nodded, looking to Roman.
"I am. Where can I find him?"
"Keep going down the hall the way you were going. Cesaro and Heyman have their own room for strategizing." Roman stated and she nodded, grateful for his information.
"Dean, I gotta go."
"Find me later, Christina. Please." Dean requested and she nodded, forcing his head up to peck his lips. "Say it."
"I promise that I'll come find you later." She mumbled against his lips, smiling when he pressed his lips to hers again. It was a longer kiss than Roman was expecting, and he found himself looking away from the scene before him. Third wheeling was never fun and always awkward, but the fact that Dean was being grounded for a moment made up for it.
"You should get going. Keep your phone on and if you need me, call. I'll come running."
"Alright." She said softly, letting Dean pick her up off of the counter and set her on her feet. "Be safe, you guys."
"You got it, babygirl." Roman assured, patting CJ's head before gently pinching her cheek and ushering her out of the room. "You've got it bad, Ambrose."
"Yeah, yeah. I'm well aware of that fact, my friend," Dean spoke with a smirk, licking his lips. "and I'm not at all ashamed."
"Don't let her go this time, Dean."
"If I lost her, I'd lose myself."
"And she needs you just as much as you need her. If not, more." Roman reminded as he and Dean left the bathroom, the blonde nodding as they walked.
"If you're pregnant and happy about it, I don't understand why you're crying." Paul said, a bit confused to say the least.
"I'm just afraid that I've let you down."
"CJ, I'm your advocate. I mean, sure, the circumstances are a bit odd and you're trying your damnedest to get out of your unhappy relationship to get with the man who makes you happy, but I'm certain that you're not the first like this and definitely not the last." He spoke confidently, rubbing her back while Cesaro handed her another tissue. "Would I have loved to have you back at around WrestleMania next year? Yes, but I think you will make a lovely mother."
"And if you need anything, you've got us." Cesaro added, making Heyman clap his hands together before pointing to the Swiss Superman.
"You, sir, are absolutely correct. We Heyman guys, and girls, are like the modern-day Heenan family. We stick together." Paul continued, making a fist. "Tight knit group. I know you and Brock bonded, and I'm sure he'd love to help answer any questions you have about kids."
"You're totally right. Thank you so much, Paul. I should probably get out of here before Seth sends a search..." CJ trailed off, looking to the monitor to see that Seth had been talking to Michael Cole and was currently standing in the spot where he back stabbed Roman and Dean. "...party."
If watching it happen wasn't bad enough, just listening to him talk about how much power he had at that moment made her sick. This wasn't the Seth Rollins that she knew and loved, this was some power hungry asshole that would betray men who were like family to him. Men who he traveled with for two years and had countless bar nights and a couple gay experiences with, and he gave it all up for a suit and tie. She knew that Seth couldn't be trusted and this whole adventure for their relationship was just another lie to keep her with him for a couple days and not with Ambrose. But no longer. Seth had changed, so she was changing too.
"Business partners?" She spoke, obviously unimpressed. "That lying little shit. Dean and Roman meant the world to him and he threw it all away! Thank you Paul, Antonio, for being here and listening to me cry. I do appreciate it."
"I hear slapping makes you feel better." Cesaro suggested, patting CJ's shoulder before letting her leave and she quickly shut the door behind her. "That's an angry woman."
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, my friend. When Seth turned on The Shield it was he turned on her, too." Paul explained, smirking at the memory of training sessions Brock and CJ had where the large Minnesota native would intentionally piss her off to light that fire and make the training session more intense And the way Ambrose would look on in concern.
"Babe, here you are. Did you see what they did?" Seth asked, further infuriating CJ as he tried smoothing out his clothes. "Fuckers."
"It's like I don't even know you anymore." She whispered, taking a couple steps back from him.
"What do you mean?"
"You're not the same guy anymore, Seth. You've changed and, being honest, I don't like it."
"Out there? That was strictly business. I'm-"
"No, that wasn't 'strictly business', Seth! That was you being a total ass and you're not even ashamed of it!"
"CJ, sweetheart, calm down. You're making a scene." Seth commented, trying to lead her into an empty office.
"I'm making a scene, huh? Well guess what, Seth? I can do whatever, because I'm not your girlfriend anymore."
"You're breaking up with me?"
"I don't want to have to look out for my back. You turned on your team, what's going to stop you from hitting me in the back with a steel chair?" CJ asked, a bit nervous since Seth was matching every one of her steps back with a step forward.
"I wouldn't do that, because I love you."
"You loved them like brothers. They were just at your fucking birthday party, and you still turned on them." She said as her back hit the wall and Seth boxed her in. She didn't like being in this position, but Seth didn't mind.
"That's different. Don't leave me, babe. You know that nobody can love you like I do."
"You don't love me. You love the idea of me being away from Dean. There's a huge difference. Now get off, so I can go get a cab and go home."
"Davenport?"
"Yeah, I'll stop by Davenport to pack up all my things and move them to Syracuse."
"CJ, please. Don't do this."
"I can't trust you, therefore I don't want to date you any longer." CJ stated loudly, but not yelling. "Can you back the fuck up so I can leave?"
Seth complied, and CJ could've sworn that there were tears welling up in those dark brown eyes. As much as she wanted to feel bad for him, she just couldn't. There was no way those tears were real. They were most likely just another facade to get her to stay. But she wasn't. She couldn't. Not when there was a guy who she knew wouldn't take her for granted waiting for her to take this step to be with him.
Lost in her thoughts, CJ wasn't aware of the fact that her feet were carrying her to where The Shield locker room was the last time they were in the Target Center, and she hesitantly knocked on the door three times. When nobody answered she ran a hand through her hair in uncertainty before turning on her heel to walk away.
"Where are you going, darlin'?" Dean asked from down the hall, without Roman by his side. He sounded angry, and there was no doubt in her mind that he was after what just happened with Seth during the show, but there was something about how eerily calm he was that threw her off. He should be kicking things and threatening runners, not looking ready to pull her into a hug. "Come on in."
"I should be getting my things from the hotel." CJ stated as she made her way inside the locker room, feeling his hand on the small of her back.
"Whys that?"
"I just broke up with Seth."
"Really?" Dean asked, placing his hands on her hips as he started leading her towards the bench.
"Really. I can't trust him."
"But you trust me?" He asked, sitting on the bench and pulling her to straddle his lap.
"I trust that you won't take me for granted." She mumbled, letting him push her jacket off before she cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a kiss.
"Never, baby. I already know what it's like to lose you and I never want to do that again." He whispered against her lips, smiling as he kissed her again. Her fingers moved to tangle through his semi-dry curls while his tongue probed her mouth. She felt his hands slip under her shirt and let out a small moan at the feeling of his hot hands against her skin. Both were so lost in each other that they didn't notice Roman enter the room with John Cena. Cena looked to Reigns, who shrugged.
"They're pretty in love. It's kinda gross from time to time."
"Dean, I need to get to the hotel." CJ mumbled, her thumbs caressing Dean's cheeks.
"Stay." He requested, his hold on her waist tightening.
"Ambrose, I'm not leaving town." She assured, pecking his lips.
"Take my room key. Roman won't mind."
"You're sure?"
"It's fine, babygirl." Roman cut in, making the two jump and look back at the two.
"I'm pretty sure Roman has caught me in more compromising positions, so alrighty. How've you been, John?" CJ asked as she slid off of Dean's lap and picked up her jacket.
"Great, and you?" John asked, smiling as he and CJ shook hands while Dean dug around in his bag for his room key.
"Pretty good."
"Here's my key and twenty for your cab fare."
"Ambrose." CJ groaned, not wanting to take his money. "I don't-"
"You do, and you will." He stated, time telling her that resistance would be futile. CJ could only nod, smiling when Dean kissed her forehead. "Be safe."
"I always am."
"That's a dirty lie." Dean joked and she lightly swatted his chest before pecking his lips and leaving. "How long were you two in here?"
"We walked in near the end of tonsil hockey." Roman stated, making Dean nod.
"I really only came to tell you guys that I'll be your tag team partner against the Wyatt Family." John stated, tipping his hat to the two remaining Shield members. "I've been in tough spots and I know how it feels to need a little bit of help."
"Thanks, man." Dean mumbled before Cena left and Roman looked to Dean. "Why do you look all impressed?"
"You hate John Cena, but you thanked him. You're branching out, and all it took was her tongue down her throat?"
"That's not true. I recognize that this team isn't going to be much of a team for much longer. Our brotherhood will last, but our team will not. I need to start having other allies in the locker room because you're not always going to be available to come to my rescue, alright?" The blonde clarified, ruffling his hair a bit. Roman could only smile and nod, happy that Dean wasn't panicking about them going their separate ways in the near future.
When CJ finally got to the hotel, she was just tired. The plane, The Authority, the breakup, the pregnancy, making out with Dean, it all had her physically and mentally tired. And she still had to get her stuff from Seth's room and take it down to Dean and Roman's room. Something else that she really wasn't looking forward to.
Sliding her keycard to unlock Seth's room, CJ was surprised to see two blondes sitting on the queen sized bed trying(and failing) to look seductive. But, since she could really care less because Seth was no longer her boyfriend, she only grabbed her suitcase and left the room key on the dresser before leaving. She was too concerned about her next move, getting yet another apartment in Syracuse, explaining things to Adam, her current stance with Dean, that she just didn't want to bother with thinking about Seth just yet.
Flopping onto the bed covered in Dean's clothes, CJ remained face down in one of his shirts while squirming out of her jacket. She didn't really feel like moving and was way too comfortable surrounded by Dean's scent. But before falling asleep, she remembered to text Dean and let him know that she was in his room before she felt her eyelids get heavy. Her phone vibrated soon after and she had just enough energy to unlock her phone and read the text.
'Alright honeybee. Rome and I will be back in about an hour and a halfish and we'll bring you something to eat okay? I love you'
"Such a cute man."
"I'm not fuckin' whipped." Dean groaned once he had Roman stepped into the elevator at the hotel. Roman only chuckled, waving the small bag of food especially for CJ in the blonde's face. "That's not whipped, that's being considerate for her and the children she's carrying."
"Whipped." Roman coughed, making Dean grumble as he angrily took a drink of the milkshake in his hands. "Didn't you get that for her?"
"Shut up."
The rest of the elevator ride was spent with Dean glaring down his reflection in the doors while Roman laughed heartily at his friend's expense. It didn't really bother Dean, since he was trying to gauge just how whipped CJ actually had him.
I'm not too whipped. Dean tried to assure himself as the elevator doors opened. Roman was trying to contain his laughter while they walked down the hall, since CJ was most likely asleep. His suspicions were confirmed when he found her fully dressed and fast asleep in his bed with her nose buried in one of his shirts.
"That can't be comfortable." Dean mumbled, setting the milkshake on the dresser while Roman headed into the shower. He knelt in front of the bed and gently removed her boots, taking the care to slowly unzip both boots all the way one after the other before actually pulling them off her feet. He then sat on the bed and sat her up beside him, smiling when she slumped onto him. He carefully pulled her shirt up and over her head, battled with her bra clasp, and had her top half nude before putting one of his tshirts on her. "Pants on or pants off?" Dean asked, lightly nudging her.
"Off." CJ mumbled, snuggling more into him. "Did you bring me food?"
"A milkshake with a chicken sandwich and some fries. Are you hungry now?" Dean asked, moving so he could pull her leggings off.
"Can I have the milkshake?"
"Whatever you want." Dean promised, his words carrying much more meaning than she detected in her tired frame of mind while she watched him abide by her request, tossing her leggings into his open suitcase on the way.
Dean Ambrose was a whipped man, but he wasn't afraid to admit it. In his opinion, any man would be if they had his queen in their bed. But no man would ever have her now that she was his. He was going to treat her right this time around, and be the best guy that he could be for her. She was it for him and if he lost her a second time, he wasn't sure that he'd survive.
When Roman got out of the shower half an hour later, he wasn't surprised to see Dean and CJ cuddled up and fast asleep. It made him happy to see that Dean was with his source of happiness. He could relax knowing that Dean was grounded, since it was made twitter official that CJ was a single lady shortly after she left the arena. Whether or not Dean made her his just yet, Roman didn't know. But it was pretty obvious that the two only had eyes for each other.
Dean's war with Seth was far from over, but now Dean had a psychological advantage. Seth may have The Authority backing him up, but Dean had a woman well versed in finding loopholes and defying the rules in CJ. He'd be fine in the end.
Yay, long chapters and CJ leaving Seth finally. I honestly love the man, but for creative purposes he needs to be an ass.
