Harrison's POV
The meeting went on for another two hours. Every member of the pack seemed to have an opinion on what should be done. A good portion of them we rd e divided between if they should believe the Dark Lord or not.
When they broke to grab food Tyler pulled him aside. The older man said, "I know you have a bad history with the Dark Lord. It's in your eyes. You're not a wolf yet but you are still as easy to read as a book for me. I need to know if you're comfortable with us making a contract with him."
For a moment he hesitated. Could he put everything behind him that Voldemort had done? Yes, yes he could. He never asked to be apart of this war. No one ever asked him if he wanted to fight. It was expected that he would and he was tired of it.
Harrison replied with a tired sigh, "I never had a choice in this war before now. It was expected of me to fight the Dark Lord because I was supposedly the Chosen One. There is nothing more in this world I hate more than my fame. If he requires it I will make an oath not to return to the Light."
Not that they would accept him, to begin with. Once they found out that he was a skinwalker they would treat him like they did Remus. Or they would kill him for being a dark creature. That wasnt something he could allow. Not when he finally found a family.
Tyler bent his neck suddenly so that their foreheads touched as he said, "I'd support you no matter what you chose, Harrison. You were not born into our world as the rest of the pack was. If it is your wish to stay neutral we will not force you to fight."
Those words made his heart warm. There was a feeling of belonging here that he had never felt before. It wasn't like at Hogwarts in fact it was better. He had made the right choice it seemed in trusting the men.
After they had eaten they went back to the meeting hall. Once everyone was settled the vote began. Surprising everyone was that Tyler and Matthew voted the same way. From what he understood the two men rarely saw eye to eye on anything. His arrival in the pack had upset that balance that the older wolves were counting on. Two of the biggest powerhouses that wasnt Willard Cates were uniting.
From what Harrison could observe there were three factions to the clan before his arrival. Tyler ran a faction of new blood and ideals faction. They wanted to expand the clan and have more freedom. To no longer live in fear of people finding out what they were.
The old guard was led by Mikhail and he was the opposite of Tyler. He wanted to keep the wolves separate from the world. Believed that they couldn't trust Harrison anymore than the Dark Lord. This group was about the same size as Tyler's. So that left the final group to be tiebreakers.
His uncle's group was the middle ground between the other two factions. The main difference though was that many followed Matthew's beliefs of no longer shifting between skins. They were denying their heritage and were looked down upon for this. It was a lot like wizards pureblood culture.
With Harrison spending most of his time going between Tyler and Matthew's presence they had to come to an agreement. As such the two parties were supporting each other in ways that were previously thought to be impossible. During votes, they would now support each other as long as it was reasonable.
With this agreement, the majority vote went for allowing the contract to be made. They would be supporting the Dark Lord who was offering freedom they had not received in centuries.
Willard pulled him, Matthew, and Tyler aside after the meeting. He said calmly, "I want you three to be there tomorrow. Harrison, you will be the one to read and be sure the contract is correct. Tyler and Matt you will act as guards."
The three intoned, "Yes, sir."
Tyler walked them back to Matthew's car much to the elder agitation. He stood awkwardly to the side as they moved to get into the car. Harrison looked back at the man not liking the kicked puppy look he was wearing. It was obvious even to him that the man wanted to spend more time with him.
The high ranking position Tyler was in made their schedules difficult to workaround. So sneaking time in here and there was all they could hope for until things settled. Or until he made his first change.
Harrison turned away from the car and cautiously approached the man. His uncle looked like he wanted to say something but just barely refrained. Tyler looked up in surprise at Harrison's approach.
Swiftly not giving the man time to react he hugged Tyler. The man's scent washed over Harrison as he muttered into the chest, "Thank you for giving me a choice. It was the first time someone has really done that for me before."
Then he let go of Tyler and retreated to his uncle's car. Matthew shook his head before muttering something about kids under his breath. Then they were heading back to his house leaving Tyler in the parking lot alone.
