Harrison's POV
Returning home was easier than dealing with the old man. He was annoyed by the man's manipulative nature. Dumbledore would be going after him when he returned to Hogwarts. No doubt he would be having more of the little meetings.
As they made their way towards the restaurant he saw Crouch heading their way. No. He already dealt with the old man he didn't want to deal with the crazy dirty blond haired man.
The clan guard stepped close to him sensing his unease. Tyler glanced back at him a question in his eyes. Harrison shook his head. No he didn't want to speak to Crouch.
Crouch however did not seem to care about their mistrust. His eyes were not looking at Harrison. Instead they were on his cloak with lines deepening on his face.
Tyler questioned with a growl, "What do you want, Crouch?"
Crouch said without a glance to Tyler, "I am magic sensitive. Typically I'm checking wards to ensure they are in proper working order. However I can sense magic that does not belong. You, Harrison, have a lingering magic on your robes. As does Buddy."
Both Harrison and Buddy glances down at their clothes. They couldn't see anything but they couldn't see anything. Something told him however that the man wasn't lying.
Crouch stepped closer to him a question in the blue eyes. If it was true they needed to know what spell if it was. If it wasn't the contract protected him and Buddy.
So he nodded and Crouch pulled his wand out. He was casting diagnostic spells within seconds. The end of Harrison's robes glowed bright red. Buddy's clothes also glowed red half a second later.
There was an impressive string of curses came out of Crouch's mouth. Even Tyler looked impressed at the swearing.
Spells rolled over Harrison and Buddy a few moments later. The red on their clothes faded a few moments later. It only took a few seconds for it to be gone completely.
Crouch said after a moment, "Tracking spells. Strong ones that if you didn't have a magic sensitive it would have stayed on you indefinitely."
Harrison took a breath to calm his emotions that were trying to rage. Then he said, "Thank you, Crouch. It would be best if Dumbledore was not able to track us."
The blond man raised his chin in acknowledgement. He said, "You're welcome, Potter. I'll leave for now. I don't know how much that spell showed Dumbledore before I could disable it. There is a good chance he will come here to check on you further. I really do not want him to see me."
Harrison nodded in acceptance and Crouch left. The group split up from there Tyler and Harrison heading to Donner's house. Sophia was at the diner as to be expected and Matthew was out patrolling.
Dumbledore's POV
Watching the town he found it was as Remus and Sirius had said. Wards that kept out werewolves were up. There were a few other wards meant to alert the head of the town.
Next to him stood Alastor his magical eye was scanning the wards. Looking for any weakness they could exploit. Exploit and go after Potter who was somewhere in the town. Other members of his Order stood waiting. No one wanted to earn the notice of the leader. Not until they had Potter back with his aunt and uncle where he belonged.
According to his tracking spell the boy was in there. It had been working until he started gathering Order. They had known Potter was there earlier in the summer but he had thought after Lupin and Black had tried to retrieve the boy they would have moved him. That would have been the smart move but apparently whoever had Potter wasn't smart. Or maybe they were. Maybe they had a plan in case they were ever attacked.
Around them the forest seemed to encase the intruders. It was as if the forest sensed it that they had ill intentions towards one of the cities children. If he was a superstitious person Albus would have thought the spirits of the forest disliked them.
A startlingly low growl came from the forest. It was followed by a second growl and a body of a grey brown wolf. It was enormous. Full grown probably in its later years of life.
A second wolf tan in color this time followed the first out. Amber eyes eyed the wizards menacingly. It was little wonder this place was called Wolf Lake. Dozens of packs must have called it home.
Lupin had said there were skinwalkers, those that were similar to werewolves. A group that was thought to be extinct. While Albus had been "accepting" of Lupin's thoughts he had in truth been skeptical. Even now he was skeptical that these wolves were in fact shifters.
At the very least they weren't werewolves. Their body types and muzzles were right for that. At best these were animagi or regular wolves.
More growls came and with them more wolves. All different colors and sizes came to greet them. At the forefront was a grey wolf who was the largest so far. It's white fangs were bared in angry.
Larger wolves began to encircle them cutting off all escape routes. The only way they would be able to escape is if they apparated. Alastor had drawn his wand as has Kingsley but neither fired spells. Considering how close they were to what was supposed to be muggle town it could get them into trouble. Albus could not afford to lose anymore ground he had in the Wizarding World. Not with Tom back.
The lead wolf shifted from wolf to human. The human side was a man almost the same height and stature as Alastor. His eyes were the same amber that the wolves were.
The man rumbled, "You're not welcome here, wizards. This land belongs to us and we reject your kind."
Albus replied with a gentle smile, "I'm sorry to bother you. We a looking for a wayward young wizard. One Harry Potter is thought to be here."
The man growled sounding like a wolf as he said, "The pup is here as is his uncle. He was welcomed amongst the clan so he is safe here. Unlike you or your allies."
Around the wolves growled in agreement. Albus's Order members shifted uneasily their eyes on the wolves. The circle seemed to close in around them. It forced them to go back to back to protect each other.
Albus tried, "Potter is supposed to stay with the Durselys during the summer. There is a magical protection that must be renewed every year. Him staying here is putting him in danger."
The man denied, "We are quite capable of protecting our own. Unlike you it seems. Harry has told us about the attacks at Hogwarts. Be glad he's even allowed to return to Hogwarts. If I had my way he would self study here."
Albus felt the blood drain from his face. If Potter self studied all of his plans would be for naught.
"However Harry has decided to return," continued the man, "If I hear about any of your tests I will pull him. Try me Dumbledore and you will lose everything."
Alastor snarled, "You think you can threaten us? We will put you and your pack down."
The man's grin flashed and a sense of unease ran down Albus's spine. Another voice said, "Well if you try you will be under arrest. Our local Sherrif is young Harry's Great Uncle. He doesn't take kindly of threats either from the pack or the humans that call this place home."
An older black haired man with grey eyes watched them. He was wearing light weighted t-shirt and pants. The grey eyes seemed far older than anyone he had seen in anyone.
Albus narrowed his eyes as he asked, "And who are you to question me?"
The man's lips quirked up into a smile, "Sherman Blackstone just another member of the town. I'm also one of two keepers to the wards. I would suggest you not come closer to the wards. You will not like the consequences. Harry will be on the Hogwarts Express tomorrow."
Albus realized that they weren't going to be able to get to Potter. He will have to talk to Potter when he was at school. Nodding to the Order they all apparated.
