"Are you sure these look fine?" CJ asked Dean, looking particularly at her ass in the mirror. She really loved that pair of jeans, but she wasn't positive about how they looked on her.
"Baby, I think your ass looks great. But if you don't think so, wear that hella long skirt that you have."
"These are fine. I think." She mumbled, biting her lip when Dean got off of her bed and quickly crossed the room to stand behind her.
"This is the hottest ass I have ever seen." He stated, hands cupping her ass and giving a gentle squeeze. "But I don't want you to question your choice when we're in the clinic so I'm going to have to request that you change your pants."
"Dean, I think I'll be okay."
"You think." He stated, leaning in close to whisper in her ear. "Sweetheart, I can't grab your ass in public to make you feel hot. I'm pretty sure they frown on that."
"What makes you think I'll need an ass squeeze for confidence?" She asked, tipping her head back onto his shoulder while one of his arms wrapped around her waist to pull her into him.
"I-uh- I've been doing some reading. Bought a couple ebooks for guys about supporting pregnant women and I read that sometimes you'll feel uncomfortable with the way your body is changing and you might feel...unappealing. I know you love getting your ass squeezed, so yeah." Dean explained, the way he shifted in behind her and the face he made sold her on feeling that he was possibly nervous.
"Dean, that's so cute."
"You don't think that's nerdy as hell?" He asked, surprised by her comment as she turned in his arms.
"I think that's thoughtful as hell." CJ stated, wrapping her arms around his neck. "And you're allowed to grab my ass whenever. You're my boyfriend."
"I am your boyfriend, aren't I?" He asked with a smirk, dipping his head to brush his lips against hers. "Wanna take a cheesy picture for instagram?"
"Think we can take one like this?" She asked, smiling when she felt Dean in her pocket. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched as he unlocked her phone and went to instagram.
"I'm trying to make it not look like I'm taking the picture." He muttered, feeling her smile against his lips.
"I don't care if they see my phone in the picture." She stated, and it wasn't long before his mouth was on hers and she lost herself in his touch. She would never get enough of Dean Ambrose, and she never wanted to. He was perfect to her, despite many flaws he felt that he had.
"I love you, Copeland."
"Ditto, Ambrose."
"Can I type out the caption?" Dean requested when she stepped back, smiling at the surprised look on her face.
"Dean Ambrose, the man who won't get sucked into the social media trap, wants to play with my instagram?" She asked, lightly prodding his dimpled cheek. "Yeah, sure, go ahead. We have to leave in like five minutes though."
"And we will. It's only going to take me a minute."
"Can we have sex tonight?" CJ asked, turning back to the mirror to adjust her shirt.
"Whatever your heart desires."
"Seth, did you see CJ's instagram post?" Randy asked, trying to get under the younger man's skin. It was more than obvious to The Viper that Mr. Money in the Bank had serious feelings for CJ, so he wanted Seth to hurt in the worst way. Heartbreak would always trunk physical pain, and Randy knew that well.
"No? Why?"
"She's kissing Ambrose in a picture and he typed out the comment himself." The way Seth whipped out his phone was enough to prove to Randy that the two toned man was still very love struck. "I've got it right here, I'll read it to you."
"You really don't have to-"
"I want to." Randy insisted, unlocking his phone and clearing his voice just for show. "'A year ago if you told me I'd be dating my best friend, I'd probably punch you in the face. But here I am with the only woman who can deal with me. She's amazing, and I'll punch you in the face for messing with her. -DA'. Y'know I've gotta say, Seth, she looks better with Dean than she ever did with you."
"Shut the hell up, Orton. In case you've forgotten, I came through on my part of the plan. So until you stop coming up short, you better back the fuck off before I actually do something about it." Seth warned, standing up and bringing his gold briefcase with him as he exited the room.
"Where was Seth going?" Hunter asked as he entered the room and Randy shrugged. "You've got to grow the hell up, Randy. He's our plan b, start treating him like a member of the team."
"How do we know that he's not plotting with his little friends?"
"Because he's smarter than that. I dropped your ass once, Orton, and nothing is stopping me from doing it again." Hunter warned, his glare intensifying when Randy only shrugged again before getting up and leaving the office.
This appointment wasn't supposed to stress CJ out, but both expecting parents were cons fused and upset beyond belief when Dr. Christiansen said that he could only hear one heartbeat using the doppler. Then CJ felt the tears burning in her eyes when they saw in the ultrasound that there was, indeed, only one baby in her womb. Dean tried his best to calm himself, knowing that him freaking out wouldn't be good for her. They'd grieve together in private, but right now he had to be strong.
"Doc, I don't understand." Dean stated, looking away from the monitor for the first time.
"A case of vanishing twin is rare, but possible. Nobody is certain what causes the twin to vanish, possibly some genetic abnormality, but it's nothing you could have felt for prevented. There's nobody to blame for this, Christina. It wasn't your fault and it wasn't yours either, Dean." Dr. Christiansen looked between the young couple, waiting until they both nodded to continue. "But, as we can all see and heard earlier, the surviving baby has a strong heartbeat and she's perfectly healthy. "
"She?" Dean asked, eyes widening slightly. CJ just remained quiet, thinking everything through.
"Congratulations, you two, you're having a little girl."
"Can we get a picture of that?"
"Definitely."
Both men looked to the blonde still laying back. She hadn't spoken a word since Dr. Christiansen had broken the news about the vanished twin, and that worried the doctor. Dean knew that she was just processing everything and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. When she squeeze back he offered a small smile while Dr. Christiansen wiped off her stomach.
"Doc?" CJ asked quietly, sitting up to look her doctor in the eye. While pulling her shirt down.
"Yes?"
"What happens...to the one that didn't make it?"
"The embryo is just absorbed back into your body. There are rare cases of the surviving twin absorbing certain genetic traits of the other and having two sets of DNA."
"Oh. But it didn't hurt the vanished twin, right?"
"Not at all."
"Alrighty. Thanks, Doc."
"Still making a c-section appointment?" Dr. Christiansen asked and CJ shook her head, knowing that she needed to think things through a bit more before making that decision. Dean only rubbed her back, showing his support for her at the moment.
"We'll see you soon, Doc." Dean stated when the nurse came in with the ultrasound print and he guided CJ out of there. "Let's go make your next appointment, and then we'll go to your place and talk about this."
"Alright."
"I'm sorry."
Those were the first two words that left CJ's lips and Dean shook his head as they took off their shoes and jackets. He then pulled her into a hug, placing a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
"You've got nothing to be sorry for. Doc said it wasn't anybody's fault, especially not yours. Don't beat yourself up about it. We've still got one who made it and she's healthy. Let's be grateful for that."
"You're right." She whispered, feeling his hand on her stomach. "She's a blessing."
"How are you feeling?" Dean asked, not really wanting to talk about feelings but he knew that they'd have to start communicating their feelings to one another. That's how a relationship worked. Her feelings mattered to her, he'd just prefer not talking about his own.
"Disappointed, because we lost one, but I'm happy that she made it. It's hard to explain."
"I understand." He assured, gently caressing her stomach. "I feel the same way. We'll get passed this, though. Together."
"Together." She agreed, letting him hold her to his chest. She knew that he was probably devastated over the loss, but wouldn't show it in front of her. "Let it out, Ambrose."
"I'll be fine-"
"Dean, you don't always have to be strong for me." She whispered, squirming out of his arms so she could cup his cheeks in her hands. "Let me be your rock this time."
She watched as he tried fighting; unsure if he was fighting against her, himself, or one of the voices in his head that he had mentioned in the past(always when he thought she was asleep). His face slowly changed from that carefully sculpted mask that he had perfected over the years, but her eyes stayed on his the whole time. Even when they shut tight, she was looking at his eyes and waiting for them to open.
Dean knew that he had to sit down. Not for his sake, but for hers. He knew that once the floodgates finally opened that they'd be in one spot for quite a long time, and her bring on her feet wasn't all too good for her or the baby that made it. So he slowly started backing them to the couch, visibly fighting back the tears that had built up over his years of internal torment until she was finally sitting. He paced for a good minute, trying to figure out what exactly he want to let out.
CJ knew that right now was probably one of his most vulnerable moments and he was definitely fragile at this very moment. This is why she didn't push him to sit down beside her, or take offense when he opted to sit down in front of her. His head ended up in her lap and she felt his hot tears being absorbed by her jeans. She only began running her fingers through his messy blonde curls, alternating between lightly scratching and lightly massaging his scalp. She figured that right now was a time where her actions would definitely speak louder than her words, so she didn't say a thing.
It wasn't too long before his breathing had steadied out, and she smiled down at the man currently asleep in her lap. Small snores left his slightly parted lips while his arms were still wrapped tight around her legs and, as tempted as she was to wake him up so he'd move into a more comfortable position, she let him sleep. She grabbed the decorative pillow that was currently behind her back, propped it up on the arm of the couch, and followed Dean's lead since the day's events had her exhausted too.
Dean woke up a couple hours later to see that he hadn't moved from his pitiful position and that CJ was also asleep. He hated that he put her in this position, but he was so grateful that she just let it happen and was there for him at a time where he needed her. He removed her hand from his hair before standing and gently picking her up off the couch to carry her to bed. She didn't want to let him go, which he found cute, but he really needed her to let him go so he could order dinner.
"Babe." She whined once he was out of her grasp and he smiled before kissing her head.
"You're hungry, so I'm ordering dinner." He explained, watching curiously when she only turned over in bed and went back to sleep. He just went to grab his phone and called the Thai place that he saved into his phone, ordering their usuals before getting into bed next to her. He was no longer tired, but found himself thinking about their next step.
He'd still be with her even if it was his baby that vanished and Seth would get the paternal privileges that he wanted but he'd be a great stepfather and, eventually, father of CJ's second child. But he had to think about her possible plan of action when it came to telling Seth about the vanished twin. Was she going to tell him while the wound was still fresh for her? Or was she going to wait until she had come to terms with it to reopen the wound and further torment herself?
He'd only know when he asked her. But he wasn't going to wake her up from some much needed rest to ask what was possibly a tough question for her to answer. For now, Dean Ambrose was going to hold onto his woman and their surviving child while he waited for their food to come.
I did a lot of extensive research to make sure that vanishing twin was a real thing and that kind of delayed chapter progress. I know that this isn't like a full on novel, but I felt that I needed to make sure that this was realistic for being a fanfiction.
On another note, Raw last night was fantastic. Y2J, Dean's promo, I could go on, but I could probably write an essay about everything I liked last night.
