Having DADA first thing should have been exciting. Even if it was with Slytherins. It had been his favorite class forever. This year he did not have the same excitement as before. Umbridge was their professor and Harrison had the feeling she didn't like him. Was it so much to ask for one year where the professor didn't try to kill him?

He arrived just before the bell but didn't get anything out. Every professor had been different so far. Some started with a practical. Others started with a discussion. He had a feeling this woman would be part of the latter.

Umbridge entered a moment later saying, "Good morning, children."

There were a few half-hearted replies that had her tutting, "Now now children. You must greet me properly. Say good morning Professor Umbridge."

Internally Harrison thought, :I would rather jump out the window.:

This time the class grumbled unhappily, "Good morning Professor Umbridge."

That was one way to make them feel like they were five. He hoped all of their classes weren't like this.

She nodded with self-satisfaction and continued, "Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations. O-W-Ls. More commonly known as OWLs. Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so, and the consequences may be severe. Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you'll be pleased to know, from now on you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved course of defensive magic."

Harrison winced. There was no way that could be anything good. He pulled out his book and found it was more geared towards young children. Before Hogwarts young. She really did think they were young children.

Granger snapped drawing his attention back to the class, "There's nothing in here about using defensive spells?"

Umbridge asked in her falsely sweet voice, "Using spells? Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom."

"We're not gonna use magic?" And there was Weasley.

"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way."

Seamus this time spoke up, "What use is that? If we're attacked, it won't be risk-free."

"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class," her voice held an edge of danger to it this time, "It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations, which, after all, is what school is all about."

Weasley snarled, "And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?"

"There is nothing out there, dear. Who do you imagine wants to attack children like yourself?"

There is but he isn't stupid enough to say that. Not now that he had a vow to contend with. Harrison fully intended to keep his head down and get through this year. Especially with his new loyalties and his first flip on the horizon. 7 days. That's all he had until it happened.

Weasley growled, "You-Know-Who of course!"

Umbridge twitched with anger, "Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie."

"It's not a lie. Harry saw him. Harry fought him. Right Harry?"

Umbridge looked at him darkly as she asked, "Is this your doing, Mr. Potter? Trying to insight an insurance against the Ministry?"

Harrison sighed, "As I have told Dumbledore repeatedly I have no memories of what happened that night. The last memory I have is taking the Cup with Cedric. Then nothing until I woke up in the Hospital Wing. Anything that has been said in my life is a complete fabrication."

Weasley looked aghast, "Harry what are you talking about? What about Cedric? c

Umbridge looked triumphant as she said, "Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident."

Granger shouted, "It was murder. Voldemort killed him. You must know this."

Umbridge shouted, "Enough! Enough. See me later, Miss Granger. My office."

The rest of the class was spent taking notes before they headed off to Potions. He constantly felt the toad-like woman's eyes upon him. It made his skin crawl in disgust. Harrison ignored Granger and Weasley calling after him. He picked his side when the pack chose to follow Voldemort. There was no time left for regrets.

During Potions the now Golden Duo kept trying to talk to him. He had to snarl at them his eyes flashing amber with his wolf for them to back down. The full moon was too close. If they kept pushing things would get ugly.

Lunch was a quiet affair. He told Collin about the DADA class and warned the boy not to start anything. Punishments would be different this year he could feel it. Seamus and Dean exchanged a look with Neville before they too agreed to keep their heads down.

Other years both younger and older listened before nodding their assent. He was building a base of power he realized. That's what Tyler would have called it at least. Tyler had done the same with the younger members of the clan. When Willard either stepped down or died Tyler was determined to take over.

Harrison didn't want to take over. He would rather just be himself and stay in the shadows. The thing was he knew certain people would follow him no matter what he tried. Others would seek to use them against him. Dumbledore being one such person.

Neville asked startling him back to the present, "What are you thinking about? You don't usually have such a dark look on your face?"

"The war," he sighed, "I never wanted to be entangled in the mess. I'd rather stay neutral but I realize I won't be able to. No matter what I do others are going to follow."

Neville looked at him consideringly then said, "Neutral parties left the country last time. The goblins helped."

"Really?"

Where would they go? Not that he could do that. Could he get others out though? It was something to consider.
