Chapter 449.
"Clyde and Chloe's Second Date."
- Some slight collaboration with "avanger44."
(January 15. McBride home.)
Clyde is dressed in his normal clothing, then he looks in the mirror and smiles. "Okay, so the breakfast is made and Chloe is on her way. Time to show her a great day, which is also a great date and then ask her the big question."
Clyde then recalls what's happening at the school. "Normally I would feel bad, but thank goodness for that water leak in the school. No school for today and now I can make this date for Friday and not for tomorrow."
Clyde then looks to the small box in his hand. "Time to try and pull of a Lincoln, or pull off whatever I can do and something. I don't know." He then leaves the bathroom and he sees his pet cats Cleopawtra and Nepurrtiti and he pets them. "Good to see you girls too."
Clyde heads down the stairs and he sees the kitchen is empty, and so he heads to the backyard and he sees his dad's Howard and Harold setting up everything. "Hello Clyde, everything is all setup" replied Harold.
"Morning dad, morning dad. This looks great and the pancakes I made are still looking fine." Clyde goes over and check. "Thank goodness the cats didn't go to them."
"We managed to give them something to keep them occupied and away from the food" replied Howard. "Otherwise it would've been disastrous."
Harold goes over and he checks on Clyde's looks and fixes his collar. "Now that you're looking spick and span, the food all done and no chances of bad weather. All we need to do now is…." They hear the sound of the doorbell. "That must be Chloe."
"I'll get it" replied Howard. He goes back inside, with the cats and they go and check who's at the door.
"I'll leave you be here, Clyde. Also, the news said no chances of snow storms for the whole day, and let's hope it stays that way" said Harold. He then walks back into the house.
Clyde then looks at the setup, a nice small table with two plates and in the middle are the stack of pancakes and in them are blueberries and with some maple syrup, eggs benedict and orange juice, with no pulp in them. Even though Clyde's conditions are slowly fading, he has issues when the pulp fresh from the orange gets in his throat.
Clyde fixes the vase of roses and he sees no signs of bees or any kind of animal disturbance and he looks up to see one of the bald eagles, Patriot is airborne. "Nice of Lincoln to let one of the eagles come and keep an eye on us, even though it wasn't really necessary."
Then he sees someone walk out of the house. "Hi Clyde." It's Chloe Curda, the girl he's seeing and she's in her day clothes, which we normally see. She then walks towards Clyde and hugs him. "Good to see you and I can't wait for what you have in store for us today."
Clyde chuckles. "Yup, and the first thing on the agenda is some nice breakfast." He then pulls the seat for her to sit on. "After you, Madame Curda."
Chloe giggles. "Such a gentleman." She takes her seat and so does Clyde on the other chair.
Clyde then uses the utensils to place some pancakes on her plate and then another stack onto his. Chloe smells them. "Mmm, they smell so good. I could only guess you made these."
Clyde takes his seat. "Sure did. I had to sleep early and then wake up early and same with my dad's. All of this was worth it and I added some blueberries in them."
"Ooh, now that does sound fancy" replied Chloe. "These are gonna taste great, for sure and it means the rest of the day for us is gonna be awesome."
Clyde chuckles. "You have no idea, Chloe." He has the box in his pocket and they both begin to eat the breakfast that Clyde made.
Harold, Howard and the cats watch them from the window and smile. "Look at our little angel, he's growing up and making plans to woo the heart of this nice young lady" said Howard.
"I am so proud of him, he's no longer having medical issues, except with three allergies and he's standing up for others and being brace" said Harold. "Looks like the words of Lincoln are working and Clyde might not need a lot of treatment from us."
Howard then has a tear in his eye. "It feels like only yesterday when we….. We…" He then begins to sob and Harold calms him down.
"Howie, let's be strong. Be strong for Clyde, because this day is not done yet" said Harold.
Howard recalls the plan and then he stops. "Yes, your right, Hare bear. Clyde has a plan and we have to do the interception part when they get to the park. So, operation helping our son make this date excellent and not go wrong, and also think of a shorter name for this operation, is a go!"
They then grab the picnic things meant for the next phase, or the phase soon to come. "Wait, did you just say something Lincoln used to say?" asked Harold.
(Later.)
With the breakfast done, Clyde and Chloe are now at the front yards and go to their bikes. "That was still so delicious and I loved all of it. Nice way to start the date, Clyde" said Chloe.
Clyde smiles. "Well, I am making the plan and it's still in motion and the day is still young. So, let's get moving, Chloe."
They both get on their bikes and they ride off. "So, where are we off to now?" asked Chloe.
"The one place where we can have fun and enjoy the moment of lights and joy around us" said Clyde. "It's a special place where we hang out with our friends, but I was able to rent the place for a few hours for some privacy so we can enjoy the…."
"We're going to Gus' aren't we?" asked Chloe.
Clyde chuckles. "Yeah, yeah. It's Gus' Games n' Grub. I guess it was way too obvious." He then looks up to see Patriot is still following them and he then sends a message to his dads.
Howard and Harold see the message and they drive off, to get the other plan ready for them when they finish some game time.
Howard then yells. "Wait!"
Harold hits the breaks and they haven't left the driveway yet. "What? What is it?"
"I forgot the cake! And, I need to use the restroom!" Howard leaves the car and heads back into the house.
Harold sighs. "I thought I told him to go before we left, well this could be a while."
(A day together montage.)
Clyde and Chloe play some games at Gus', mostly the ones they know how to play. From cooking, to some puzzle trial games, but they're not in the mood for eating and they even play some skee ball and since they got so many tickets, they chose some spatula key chains that match as prizes.
They enjoy some calm and peaceful bike riding at Skater's park, and also spot some of their friends having fun there too.
They then head to Jesse Rosato's cooking class which is not too far from Lynn's Table and they both learn on her methods and other ways to improvise when cooking and she had a special guest with them. World famous chef, (mostly in the U.K) Gordon Ramsey! And no he won't get mad, today.
They then head to the Royal Woods Mall and enjoy some window shopping and check out what is new and what is finally one sale, and Chloe gets her hands on the new beret she was waiting for, it was now on sale and at a good price too.
They even visit the local bakery called "Baxter's Bakery", which is showing some new delicious pastries and other goods they made, but in truth these are pastries that Clyde made and wants the bakery to make them for everyone to try.
(End Montage.)
Finally, they're at Ketcham Park and Clyde and Chloe walk down the path with their bikes and look to the folks also enjoying a good day at the park, and some of them they know and are friends with.
They see Lincoln, Jordan, Gretchen, Hope, Ryan and Angel Carson training with the eagles, and of course Nora, Apollo and Raptor are just watching. They aren't bald Eagles so they just have to watch, and watching them do their practice is Jillian and her baby, Lucas and he smiles seeing the eagles fly.
Luna and Sam are both making some more new songs for when the Royal Woods Spring Musical festival begins and with them is Sully and Mazzy.
Some kindergarteners are playing at the playground and Lola, Lana and Lisa are joining them.
Clyde did catch a glimpse of Penelope with her friends leaving, though he questioned why they left at the same time they came to the park.
Chloe then looks around. "So, what are we doing here, Clyde?"
Clyde looks around and he smiles. "That." They both see that by the tree on the hill is a picnic blanket and there is a picnic basket ready for them with two thermoses nearby and a good view of the flower garden.
Chloe chuckles. "Wow! This is….. So, that's why your dad's are here?" She then points to the parking lot and they see Howard and Harold packing up, and they see the kids and head back in the car and drive off.
Clyde chuckles nervously. "Yeah, I asked them to set this up after we left the bakery. I needed help and so I needed their help. I hope this is okay."
Chloe and Clyde walk over to the picnic setup. "This is fine, this proves how much you worked to make this happen. This whole plan, is just dang amazing and I loved every moment we had with this day. You really are doing your best to make this special and second date of ours all the worthwhile."
Clyde smirks. "I try my best and also had to take some advice on what to do and so I went with just being myself and planning what I would know to make us feel happy and comfortable with what th day has for us."
They let their hikes lean onto the tree and sit on the picnic blanket. "Either you're pulling a Lincoln date plan, or this is a new kind of method you're making now, like some kind of plan with a long name."
Clyde chuckles nervously. "Kinda like both, but I did most of the planning and my dad's helped me with some of the setup. Well, just the breakfast one and this picnic one."
"Well, this is still good. Let's eat." Chloe and Clyde then open the basket and smile at what they see.
They bring out a chocolate cake, some apple pie and sandwiches and the thermoses are filled with chocolate milk and there are some water bottles, just in case.
Chloe looks to Clyde. "You make this cake?"
Clyde smiles. "Yup. What gave it away?"
"The initials." Chloe points to the "C. McBride" in very little cream writing at the very bottom of the cake. "I've seen this on many of the stuff you make when it comes to cakes and other pastries, like the ones in the bakery."
Clyde blushes red. "Oh wow. I forgot I do that, sometimes."
Chloe giggles. "It's fine. I think it's sweet, like you and all the amazing treats and food you've made."
Clyde chuckles nervously and blushes. "Yeah, thanks." They then eat the food and enjoy watching the flower garden and the Pokèmon there going about their day.
They even clap when they see Harrier, Artemis and Freya flying in the sky and performing some amazing aerial tricks, now they have a show along with the lunch and Lincoln and the others smile and give Clyde a thumbs up.
(Later.)
The food is all done, well not all done. There's till three slices of the chocolate cake and four pieces of Apple Pie left.
Chloe and Clyde are full from the lunch and both enjoy each other's company as Chloe leans onto Clyde and he leans his head onto he's.
"Well, you did it McBride. This has been amazing date and I loved it" replied Chloe.
Clyde smiles, and then he grabs the box from his pocket. 'This is it Clyde, this is it. Time to ask her.' He then looks to Chloe. "Glad you enjoyed it Chloe, because I got something to say to you."
Chloe looks to Clyde. "What is it, Clyde?"
Clyde takes a moment to think of what to say. "Chloe, I didn't know what to do after my whole ordeal with the last girl and I didn't think I'd ever find the chance to look for someone who could….. Make me have a whole new change of heart."
"Then, I met you….. The day we met on the bus and on the way to cooking camp, was something I didn't think would happen. I saw you, and I just….. Clicked inside, like a part of me just woke up and saw something in you, like I knew you already and we were going to see what life has for us."
"I didn't know what to do when we became good pals at camp and then tag teamed and helped each other, and shared so many stories of what we've been through and then I saw how much you understood and was willing to help me with what issues I had."
"I knew I found someone and that someone was you, I found that special someone who I wanna spark up a relationship and see where it can all go as we keep going all the way to our adulthood years. So, I just need to know, do you love me?"
Chloe blushes red and then she goes closer. "Yes, I do love you Clyde. I always have, after we shared what we had in common, I saw someone I can try and spark something. I do love you, and I always will, Clyde McBride."
This makes Clyde smiles and so he goes closer and he shows her the box which makes Chloe wide eyed. 'Oh M-Gosh!'
"Chloe Curda, do you wanna be my girlfriend?" Clyde shows her a beautiful pearl necklace and on each pearl is a pattern of utensils and cooking things and they form words that say "Clyde and Chloe."
Chloe has tears and she looks to Clyde. "Yes! Yes I will be you're girlfriend, Clyde!"
Before Clyde can say anything else, Chloe goes in and she kisses him deeply and he returns the kiss.
Everyone else sees this and claps at the moment, the moment when Clyde McBride has made it official with Chloe Curda, this makes Howard and Harold smile, both of them can see a bright and beautiful future for their son.
Lincoln and Jordan smile and they both hold hands. 'Looks like Clyde sparked his own relationship and it's about to go deeper as time goes on.'
They don't know that Penelope sees this and sighs. She then walks away from the park with her friends. They were going to come back, but they didn't think Clyde and Chloe were still there and came at a bad time.
But Penelope doesn't know, that one of her friends, Joanna looks to Lincoln and then to Jordan and then back to Lincoln. 'Lincoln, I will get you to notice me. Before we have to leave.'
To be continued…..
A/N: Alright, so the original one by "avanger44" was supposed to be a nighttime thing, but I thought it deserved something more and this is what I came up with. But, I did keep the part where they go to the mall and have the picnic and the whole girlfriend boyfriend startup thing. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
