As the days went by with her thinking about Dean and what to tell him about Seth's appearance, CJ was wearing herself out. She knew that the news was much better coming from her than from Seth, but she didn't know what to say about why she didn't tell him. But she knew that she was good at thinking on her feet, but she was still worried about how well her hormones would allow her to deal with his reaction to this news. Would he get mad and snap at her? Would she cry or retaliate. She wasn't sure and that scared her. She didn't like being uncertain.
So, CJ did what she always did when she was uncertain. She called Adam. When he didn't answer, she left him a short message and then called Beth. When she didn't answer, CJ did the same and then looked to where Bear was laying in the backyard and soaking up the sunshine. He looked so happy and carefree and, if she could lay down comfortable without her maternity pillow, she was tempted to join him.
Just like his daddy. All he needs is sun, food, and somewhere to lay down and he's set. She mused with a smile, thinking hard about who she could call for advice. Everybody in her contacts list was probably busy or somebody she didn't want to talk to, which made everything a bit worse. Until she stumbled across Paul Heyman which spurred her to jump up to Brock Lesnar.
"Is everything alright, kid?" Brock asked and CJ sighed, wondering if she only ever called people when something was wrong. "Kid?"
"I need your award winning advice, if you have the time."
"Lay it on me, kid." Brock stated simply and CJ smiled to herself. He was always so willing to help her out and she really appreciated it. So she dipped into the whole story, starting from when she had told Seth about the vanished twin up until his latest appearance on her doorstep and then listened intently to the silence on his end of the line. She knew he was processing everything she had told him and she appreciated that fact that he was really thinking it all through and not just jumping to the simplest conclusion just to get off the phone with her.
"Y'know, I've always thought that there was something off about that little shit." Brock commented, she assumed about Seth, making her laugh a bit. "But something tells me that you already know what you have to do."
"And what is that?"
"Tell Dean. You should've told him when you called after Seth appeared." He spoke, tone demanding. "That man loves you so much, and it seems like he's doubting his ability to make you happy. The last thing he needs is more reason to doubt your love or trust in him."
"You really think he would?" She asked quietly, looking over in time to see Bear start chasing a bee. "Bear, no bees!"
Upon being scolded, the Newfoundland decided to end his outdoor adventure and happily trotted over to join his owner on the couch while Brock spoke.
"This is Dean Ambrose, does anybody really know how his mind works? I'm just going off of what you've told me about your previous conversations with him." He reasoned, CJ nodding although it couldn't be seen. She knew that Brock was right, he had a bad habit of being right when it came to her needing his advice.
"When should I call?"
"Now." He stated simply before hanging up on her. The blonde let out a deep sigh, but called Dean without thinking twice about it and scratching Bear behind the ears while the phone rang.
"Hey baby." Dean greeted, sounding winded. She immediately feared that she had chosen a bad time to call.
"Is this a bad time?"
"Nah, I just got done jogging on the stairs. Is everything alright?"
"I need to tell you something. Something I should've told you a few days ago but didn't because I was scared of how you'd react and-"
"Christina, darlin', you're scaring me. Just get on with it please." Dean cut her off and she nodded, sharing a glance with bear before taking a deep breath.
"Seth was here."
Those three words were enough to send him into a rage. That stupid little skunk boy was at his house bothering his girlfriend who was pregnant with his child and didn't need any stress right now. He wanted to go find out what suite Triple H paid to put him in and beat his ass, even though he knew that the repercussions would be serious. But he kept himself calm on the outside since Roman was looking at him weird and CJ was probably freaking out over his silence.
"Dean?"
"Did he touch you in any way? Harmless or not."
"No. I didn't even open the door all the way." She spoke softly and he knew then that she was nervous. The look on Roman's face told Dean that the Samoan was curious, but quickly looked back to the magazine in his hands as to not look like he was eavesdropping. "Are you mad?"
"That he was there? Furious." He chuckled bitterly, tossing his suitcase onto his bed. "When was this?"
"The night I called about those bullshit contractions."
"That was almost a week ago, but I'm not mad that you didn't tell me. I'm sure you have a reason." Dean reasoned, opening his suitcase to see that he had successfully ruined the neat packing job CJ had done for him before he left. But he dug through for a briefs, a clean pair of jeans, and a wifebeater to wear to the show that night after his shower.
"At first I didn't want you to worry about me, but then it turned into fear of you being mad at me for not telling you." She admitted quietly, telling him bag she was still nervous. He didn't like that he made her nervous sometimes, but he was also certain that she didn't like that she made him nervous sometimes so they were even in that regard.
"I'm going to be honest, Christina. I'm always worrying about you. I know that you're a capable and fiercely independent woman, and I love that. But the second I leave the house, I'm worrying about you. I can't help it." He said as he walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. She was silent for a moment, but he assumed that she was just thinking things through.
"You know that I love you, right?"
"It's what keeps me going when the cards are stacked against me, sweetheart." Dean spoke softly, abandoning his idea of a shower for the moment. He could feel that this conversation was far from over. "The Authority can beat me down all they want, but at the end of the day I know that it's all because I have what Seth wants. You and your love, and I never want to live without it."
"That was so sweet." She whispered, and he knew then that she was tearing up. He knew that her hormones were playing a big part in this, but he loved the fact that he brought tears of joy to her eyes like that. "I'm sure you have stuff to do and that I'm bothering you, so I'll let you go."
"You don't have to."
"I don't?"
"I've got an hour be I have to leave and I just have to shower and get dressed so it's up to you."
"Oh. Well then, how was your day?"
His chuckle filled her ears and she smiled, grateful that he wasn't upset with her. Now she got to tell Brock that he was right and thank him properly, but she didn't mind. Hearing Dean ramble about what he ate for breakfast was more than worth admitting that somebody else was right.
"...and now I'm here." He ended the riveting tale of his day and she smiled at how cute he sounded. She wouldn't tell him how cute he was, but he was cute to her. Another thing that was cute to her was the fact that Bear had taken to chewing on Seth's giant bear.
"No, Bear, don't do that." CJ stated boredly, bringing her legs up onto the couch. "Seth bought that. Oh no, it's ripped."
"You're killin' me, Christina." Dean laughed, making her laugh with him. She was glad that she officially had a reason to throw away that stupid bear. "Bear must not like other bears."
"No, I guess he doesn't. But that's fine. I've been looking for a reason to throw that bear away since it got delivered." CJ stated, looking at their dog. He looked really proud of his work on the bear and that made her smile. "I miss you."
"I want to be home with you so badly, baby. I hate being away from home."
"You know you're going to have to talk to Hunter and Stephanie about paternity leave, right?" She asked, biting her lip when she heard him sigh.
"Yeah, I know. I was actually going to see if I could talk to Vince about it, but yeah."
"This baby has been such a well kept secret, and that honestly surprises me."
"I expected Seth to get all pissy and tell the world about it, y'know. I'm surprised that he didn't." Dean admitted, making CJ nod her agreement.
"But the last thing he wants is to be part of some love triangle in the media. He looks like a bad boyfriend right now so it's a bit different." She reasoned and Dean scoffed.
"Understatement."
"Yeah..."
"Roman is telling me that I need to shower, so I'll call you later. I love you."
"I love you, too." She said before hanging up, looking to their puppy who had gone back to chewing on the bear. She took a picture for Instagram, knowing that Seth still followed her and made the caption simple.
'Bear doesn't like other bears, but his daddy sure is proud. #killerbear'
