With CJ deemed unfit to travel at this stage in her pregnancy, it was decided that Thanksgiving dinner would be held at hers and Dean's house instead of everybody going to Adam's like the year before. He, Beth, and Lyric flew in the week before, Judith was flying in on that Monday, and Dean was expected home early that Wednesday morning. It was all planned out, and she dearly hoped that everything went the way it was supposed to.
Having Adam and Beth around made things a bit easier for her, since Adam refused to let her be on her feet for long and Beth did all the cooking. She knew that Dean was constantly afraid of setting her off by really putting his foot down, so he just let her do whatever and she appreciated. But Adam started out their father-daughter at her mother's funeral when he told her that he'd take care of her but promised to not take any of her "independent" bullshit. In a way, she appreciated it.
"So Chrissie, are you excited? Just a few more weeks and you're gonna be a mommy." Beth asked, obviously excited about CJ giving birth at around Christmas time.
"I'm so excited. A bit nervous, but I'm excited."
"What's got you nervous?" The older blonde asked, watching as CJ shifted in her seat in the recliner.
"I'm afraid that she'll actually be Seth's baby. I don't know how Dean will take it. He says that it doesn't matter to him, but I dunno. I think it'll break his heart if Olive is Seth's because Dean has been talking to her since he first felt her kick."
"Dean already loves that little girl, Christina. There's no way he's going to give her up just because she doesn't have his DNA." Beth stated, making sure to look the young blonde in the eye. CJ could only nod her understanding, even though she was still clouded by doubts. Beth knew that she'd have to talk to Dean about this, but she knew that he needed to be the one to assure her that he wasn't going anywhere should the baby be Seth's. "You're thinking yourself into exhaustion, CJ. Go take a nap."
"Alright. Thanks, Beth." The older woman only smiled and nodded, waiting until CJ had disappeared up the stairs to head into the kitchen where Adam was laying on the floor watching Hope, Branny, and Bear share Bear's food.
"I need your phone, Ad."
"Why?"
"Because I need to call Ambrose. Nothing bad, and I won't send hate mail to your mistresses." Beth jokingly assured, bending over and pulling Adam's phone out of his pocket. "Thanks my darling."
"Why do you need to call Dean?"
"Because I want to have an affair with him, Adam. Hope you don't mind." Beth called sarcastically as she headed out the back door. "They have a jacuzzi?"
"I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know." Adam called back just before Beth shut the door and she chuckled to herself.
"They probably don't." Beth spoke with a smile, leaning against the house as Adam's phone called Dean.
"Adam?"
"Try again, sport."
"Beth? Is everything alright?" Dean sounded like he was getting frantic fast, and she didn't like that.
"Everything is fine. Calm down, Dean."
"I'm calm." He spoke after a couple moments of silence between them. "What's up?"
"I need to ask you something, in regard to Chrissie and the baby."
"Go for it."
"What if she's Seth's? What's your game plan?" Beth knew that beating around the bush wouldn't get her anywhere, the only plus side was that Dean was a bit more "on his sleeve" than CJ was.
"Seth's sperm or not, she's still my daughter. I've been there for CJ since I managed to pull my head out of my ass and realized not just how desperately I needed her, but how much I want to be a dad. Olivia Addison is an Ambrose, as far as I'm concerned."
"What if Seth wants custody?"
"He can have supervised visitation, since I don't trust him and he won't leave Christina alone, and he can kiss my ass if he doesn't like that."
"You need to make sure that you drill that point home to CJ." Beth stated, kicking at the patio. "She's not sure how you'd take that news and is worrying that Olive being Seth's would break your heart."
"It wouldn't bother me at all and I've told her that it wouldn't be a big deal to me if she wasn't. 'Stina and I are still young, we have time to have another baby if Olivia isn't biologically mine and she wants to have another. If she's not mine biologically and CJ doesn't want to have another, I'd still have Olivia because she's still my daughter."
"You're a good man, Dean Ambrose." Beth spoke softly, looking around the backyard.
"Not really."
"You can believe that all you want, but I've got to head in and get started on dinner. I'll see you when you fly in."
"Yep. Later, Beth." Dean spoke before she hung up, and Beth felt quite proud after their conversation. More proud of Dean, than anything, but proud nonetheless. The kid had really grown up and that was important while in a situation like they were in. She just hoped he could make CJ see that he wasn't going anywhere.
"So how was your chat?" Adam asked, holding his hand out for his phone. Beth handed it over, looking over to where Lyric was sitting in the high chair. She was happily playing with the Cheerios on the tray, and that was fine with the Glamazon.
"It was good. Great, actually. Dean has really grown up."
"He and Chrissie are more than just good for each other."
"They're soulmates."
Dean couldn't believe what he had heard? He and CJ had a countless number of conversations involving the possibility of Olivia being Seth's and every time he said it wouldn't be a problem for him. Every time he told her that was still his daughter. But she didn't believe that? Or was it her hormones corrupting her thoughts? Either way he didn't like it and would be setting the record straight about it.
He grabbed his jacket and headed out of the locker room, fully intent on going outside to smoke. He had been working on quitting, but hearing that CJ had doubts was sending him into a nervous mindset and he didn't want that at the moment. But instead he was pulled down a corridor and dragged, despite all his kicking and fighting, into an unused room.
"What the fuck!?" He shouted, finally turning to face his assailant. "You're fucking with me, right!?"
"Keep your voice down."
"Why, so nobody knows you're talking to somebody like me, golden boy?" Dean asked, leaning against the desk. "After that shit you pulled with CJ a couple weeks ago, you've got a lot of balls wanting to be alone with me."
"Yeah, I know." Seth muttered, locking the door. "But I need you to hear me out."
"I did nearly two years of hearing your ass out, what makes you think that I-"
"Because it has to do with CJ!" Seth shouted before taking a deep breath. Dean's eyes widened in surprise, but a smirk soon settled on his features. "Alright?"
"Sure. But make it quick, I don't want your daddy to come looking for you."
Seth decided to let the daddy comment slide, even though it really pissed him off. It was weird, and he didn't really like Triple H all that much. But he needed Dean calm while he spoke so that bastard was going to get away with saying whatever he wanted.
"I know that you know and she knows that there's a possibility that the baby could be mine."
"Yeah, no shit. What's your point?" Dean asked, moving to sit on the desk while Seth watched him move.
"If that baby is mine, I want to be in her life, Ambrose." Seth spoke calmly, trying not to make it sound like a demand because demanding would piss Dean off. He knew this.
"If- and that's a real slim chance, you little shit- Olivia is your baby she will still be an Ambrose." Dean stated simply, his eyes staying on Seth. "You can be her father all you want, but I'll be her daddy and the media will know that I'm her daddy and there's nothing you can do about it."
"I get that, I do. I just-"
"And you, since I can't trust that you won't decide to run off with my daughter and take her to Iowa to meet the grandparents that probably still don't know she exists, will have supervised visitation under my roof. You got that?"
"Yeah. But I was doing some reading on the now vanished twin thing and it says that there are cases of-"
"A 'hybrid' child carrying two sets of DNA. I know. The doctor told us that. But it's rare Seth."
"But what if?"
"The plan doesn't change." Dean stated firmly, looking Seth in the eye. "Are you done with your questions? Because I've got one of my own."
"Go for it."
"What gives you the right to say the shit you said to her when she called about the vanished twin? Did you even think that she might have needed a bit of sympathy from both of the men who knocked her up and not just me?"
"I wasn't thinking-"
"I know you weren't." Dean cut him off, sliding off the desk and standing right in front of Rollins. "You seem to never think when it comes to her because you're still chasing the pipe dream of being with her again, but-"
"And you." Seth whispered, managing to maintain eye contact with the blonde.
"Excuse me?"
"I don't want to take her from you, anymore. I see how good you are for each other. You and I evened each other out, y'know? I'm not saying that I'm gay, but being around you two and just feeling all the feelings was relaxing."
"You should've thought about that before you hit me twelve times with a chair!" Dean shouted, pushing the younger man back before walking in a circle around the room. "Knowing how she cried for you while you were a no-show, all those months ago, it might've been possible. But you have crossed too many lines since then for me to want you in my bed with me and my girlfriend."
"Right." Seth muttered, knowing that he shouldn't have brought it up. But he did, because he was curious.
"Are we done here, or do you have something else to say?"
"We're done."
"Good."
Battleground today! Who all is watching and who are your picks? I know I'm hanging onto the hope that Wade Barrett delivers some "bad news" that he wont be gone for as long as they say he will. But I know that he had a serious injury so chances of that are slim to none.
Anyways, thank you to Claire Moxley, UntilNeverDawns, princessofdarkness2016, angelsdee327, Sammie94, ChelleLew, CosmopolitanIcecream, Sarcastic Nightmare, and TajiaK for reviewing!
