"I'm wearing a lite brite jacket at Mania." CJ mumbled, snuggling into her boyfriend Friday afternoon. They had the day free of commitments and agreed to just exist with each other that day, doing nothing extravagant. She wanted to go home but that wasn't until Tuesday, which felt like forever to her.
"You don't sound too happy about it."
"I'm not. It's so obnoxious, babe."
"You'll look so good in it, I promise." He assured, rubbing her back. She was currently wearing his zip up hoodie that he usually wore to the ring and he honestly thought that she looked better in that than that stupid lite brite jacket.
"You think so?"
"I wouldn't have said so if I didn't."
"I guess you're right. Have you heard anything about Mania?"
"Nah. I'm not really worried about it, though."
"Why not?" She asked, bringing her hand up to rest on his chest. He only shrugged, kissing her forehead as she stared up at him in slight confusion. She decided not to question it and cuddled closer to him, shutting her eyes as he gave her a gentle squeeze. His other hand was still in the tight bandaging placed on it to treat his severely sprained wrist and it bothered him, but he didn't want to upset his queen because he was stubborn. That wouldn't get him anywhere.
"The stars will align when they need to, darlin', I'm just going to let things play out." That wasn't the entire truth. He was actually hoping to not be majorly involved in WrestleMania because he was terrified that Chris would have another ambush waiting for CJ. He wanted to be free and open, not distracted by the Fallout interviews and Regal and management. He was just lucky that Adam, Beth, and Judith were going to be there to help with Olivia(and surprise CJ) otherwise he'd have to figure out who to trust to watch his daughter.
"That makes sense." CJ finally said, looking up at him with a smile. It fell quiet between them after that, her hand moving from his chest to his stubbly cheek and absently stroking his face. He didn't mind it, since it was pretty soothing, and just leaned his head into her touch. "You know what's weird?"
"The fact that I'm letting you stroke my face and haven't tried to lick your hand?" He asked with a smile, glancing down to see her grin into his shirt. It was when she was being cuddly and slightly bashful that she was at her most adorable, Dean decided, and he wished that he had his phone on him to capture the moment because she was rarely like this. She smiled and she was cuddly often, but she was never like this.
"I wish that was the only thing bothering me."
"What's weird, babe?"
"I haven't seen Seth since we came back." She murmured, looking up at him with her icy blue eyes showing a hint of worry in them.
"That is pretty weird. I thought he would've come to see Olive by now." Dean mused, looking to the playmat on the floor where Olivia had fallen asleep while looking at herself in the mirror of her little play mat. "But it's nothing to worry about. I'm sure he's just busy."
"What if he's mad at us?"
"We've done nothing wrong and he has no reason to be mad. Just relax, your highness."
"I can think of a couple ways you can help me with that." She whispered, tilting her head back so she could kiss his jaw. "Olive is asleep and we can be quiet."
"Baby, my wrist."
"It wouldn't be the first time I've been on top."
"You are insatiable, you know that?"
"You're absolutely beautiful, babe. How could I not be?" She asked with a small smile, moving so that she straddled his lap. A rare blush dusted across his cheeks at her statement and he mumbled about not being a chick, to which she just kissed his nose. She wanted to debate his statement, but she knew that would kill whatever moment it was that they were having and decided against it.
"You really think I'm beautiful?" Dean asked after a couple moments of silence and CJ nodded before pressing her forehead to his.
"Inside and out." She whispered, tilting her head to press her lips to his. He smiled into the kiss, knowing that they wouldn't go too far from where they were. She would've had his belt undone by now if sex was on her agenda, but her hands stayed on his face as they continued to kiss each other senseless. The intensity of their kisses gradually decreased until they eventually were just meeting in short pecks with sweet nothings whispered between them.
Dean's phone ringing broke their moment and he hated that he had to let go of his girlfriend so he could dig through his pockets. But she stayed with him, moving so that she was sitting by his side and smiling when his arm wrapped around her. He looked at the call ID and sighed before ignoring it, alerting his girlfriend that whoever just called was somebody he didn't want to talk to. His whole energy had changed and it brought out her curiosity.
"Who was it?"
"Nobody important."
"Dean, it's important to me because it's bothering you." She spoke softly, gently massaging his thigh. He let out a small whine of uncertainty before kissing her head, knowing that she was pushing because she loved him.
"My mom."
CJ didn't know what to say to him about that. Obviously she knew that his relationship with his mother wasn't perfect, but she was under the impression that they were at least civil. So she did was she did best, she cuddled into him and took his phone away when it rang again.
"I thought you cut off your parents?" She asked, looking to see that he had his mother's phone number saved in his phone.
"I did, until the last time I was in Cincinnati for work and ran into her. She cut my dad out of her life and was trying really hard to stay right by the lord or some shit like that." Dean explained, suddenly worried about his girlfriend's reaction to that information. "I didn't tell her about the baby because I didn't want her to have a reason to weasel into our lives as a family and possibly ruin everything we've worked so hard to keep stable."
"Well, if it's important, she'll leave a message." CJ stated, guiding him into a sweet kiss to assure him that she wasn't upset. "When's the last time she called?"
"Two months ago when she needed money. I didn't send her any that time, because I had given her a couple grand right before we got super serious and she said she was saving it and she sounded desperate. I couldn't say no."
Oh, Dean. CJ thought to herself, not really knowing how difficult it was to deny a parent or have a relative ask for money. She figured that it was hard for Dean, but she couldn't sympathize with him because she didn't know what that felt like. Her mom was dead, her father had his own money, and Adam didn't even let her buy dinner when they went out for his birthday.
"I don't know how you feel, Dean, and I'm not going to pretend that I do."
"I appreciate that." He mumbled, moving her to sit in his lap. She let him rest his head on her chest and started petting his head in an effort to relax him. "I just don't know what to do, Christina."
"It'll be okay, baby." CJ assured as Olivia started to stir. A gentle kiss was place to the top of his head before she had to pull back to tend to the baby, and Dean found himself missing her presence. "I promise."
The calls didn't stop and Dean decided to work off his nerves in the form of push-ups. CJ watched his phone as it continued to light up with every call. She didn't like seeing him so bothered, but she didn't know what she could do to help him and that bothered her. She was supposed to be able to be there for him, but she felt completely helpless.
"Dean, baby, maybe you should-"
"I'm not." He grunted, his movements not ceasing and CJ sighed. "She'll get bored."
"Alright." She murmured, pulling out her own phone to see a text from her sperm donor.
'Highlight Reel on Monday with Steph and Trips. Trying to push them into a tag match at mania'
'Sounds good.' Of course, she knew full well that they were getting the match because Stephanie and Hunter wanted to see Chris fall just as much as she did. She hated The Authority, but she hated Chris more and would happily hand him over for them to deal with him.
"What's that?"
"Highlight Reel on Monday. Chris wants to push The Authority into a tag match at 'Mania." She explained, looking to her boyfriend as he sat up and looked at her.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. But they're going to want a stipulation, but I just don't want to lay all my cards out on the table."
"That could end badly."
"Exactly." CJ stated, opening her mouth to say more but stopping and looking to Dean's phone as it rang again. "Answer it to tell her to stop calling at the very least."
"I'm not." He spoke firmly, standing up and pulling her to her feet so they had proper eye contact. "Answering and telling her to stop calling means that I'm letting her have some kind of power over me. That gives her something to tell the media in a sad attempt to make me sweat into giving in. I'm not giving in."
"I respect your decision."
"Thank you, darlin'." Dean whispered, gently pulling her into a hug. "I know this is bugging you because it's bothering me, but I just need you to let me handle this."
"Alright, Dean." She murmured, looking up at him with a small smile. She wanted to cuddle him and make him see that she wanted to be of more help to him.
"What do you want for your birthday?" He asked in a desperate attempt to change the subject, his still ringing phone being ignored for the time being.
"You to not make a big deal out of it."
"You're sure?"
"I'm turning twenty nine. We can make a big deal out of my dirty thirty, but twenty nine isn't too big of a deal."
"Are we going to make a big deal out of my dirty thirty?" He asked with a smirk, his hands sliding down to cup her ass.
"If that's what you want. It'll be your day." She commented, kissing his cheek when he smiled down at her. "Go eat your dinner, I've got to tend to Olive."
"Baby, I can-"
"Not with your wrist being like it is. I don't want to take any chances with your health or hers, Dean." CJ reasoned, stepping back from him and towards the playpen where Olivia was beginning to fuss. "Just take it easy for now, Dean."
"But only because you're beautiful."
"Shut up."
