CJ was back.
It was made clear to the Divas Division that their champion was had returned from her medical leave of absence when Naomi was in the ring delivering a promo with her husband by her side and Paul Heyman had come out to remind the couple that Naomi would not be leaving Monday Night RAW with the Diva's Championship. It was made painfully clear to both the division in its entirety and the number one contender when CJ had stealthily hopped the barricade, slid into the ring, and kicked Jimmy Uso in the back of the head before turning Naomi around and delivering some Dirty Deeds to the woman she'd be facing in about an hour with the championship on the line.
But this was a different CJ and everyone could see it. She wasn't one for sneak attacks before a match, nor did she ever attack those who she didn't really have issues with, yet she had done so. Paul and Brock were pleased to see this mean streak coming out in the Canadian, feeling that it was long overdue, but one man who knew her better than she knew herself was worried about her. There was obviously something wrong with her world because she wasn't this mean to anybody.
Ninety minutes later had her staring across the ring at the challenger, both women with feathers that were obviously ruffled. Naomi was upset by CJ's attack earlier in the night while CJ was mad for a number of reasons that Naomi had no clue of. There were too many things on her mind and, while that could affect her health in the ring, it proved to be a very bad thing for Naomi because the champion was more focused than ever. Only her goal wasn't the most good natured.
She wanted to destroy all of competition and prove that she was the best in the company. She wanted to prove to Chris that she was a force that he should be fearing- woman or not. She needed to prove to Dean that she could function just fine when she had other things on her mind. She needed to show the world just what she truly was capable of.
There was no more "nice CJ". No more games, no more toying around. She meant business, and she deserved to be taken seriously now more than ever.
This point was made clearer than ever when she went right out of the blocks with a super kick and didn't put Naomi away early. She was going to torture the poor challenger because she had a lot to prove and an eight minute time slot to prove it in. Every second would be utilized in the most frightening way.
Not a single motion was wasted, every hit connected with her target regardless of whether it was a slap, punch, or kick. It was to the point that both Uso brothers had made their way out to ringside and Dean had joined Paul in her corner. This meant that he was worried about her, which further infuriated her because he had no need to be concerned.
About halfway through the match CJ finally went to pin Naomi, but the challenger kicked out at two. This both confused and irritated the blonde, who screamed in frustration before standing and throwing Naomi out of the ring by her hair. The Usos ran to her aid, but stepped back when CJ rolled out of the ring and glared at them.
"Ease up, girl." Jey requested, since Jimmy was too concerned for his wife's safety to be able to form words. "She did nothing wrong."
"Just back up, Usos." Dean called, standing behind his girlfriend to back her up while Paul stayed back with a death grip on the Divas Championship.
"You back up, too, Ambrose." CJ demanded, shooing away her boyfriend as she pulled Naomi to her feet so she could Irish Whip the number one contender into the barricade. "I don't know if you noticed, but I've got this handled."
She had it so handled that Dean just stood back and watched CJ methodically destroy Naomi and he felt as though Brock had rubbed off on her in the worst way. What worried him most is that CJ had made Naomi tap out to The Walls of Jericho, but still picked up the poor woman and managed to deliver an F-5 to her before she rolled out of the ring and got her title from Paul. That wasn't like her at all. Once somebody tapped she was done with them, she didn't make people suffer.
This was why he was afraid to piss her off. Her temper was a scary thing and the last thing he really wanted was for her to get pissed off and make him suffer by leaving. That would be bad.
She was headed towards the Diva's locker room for a shower when she noticed Jay standing in front of the door. His eyes were locked onto her and she sighed, rolling her eyes as she continued to walk by him. He reached out to grab her wrist, earning a glare from his ex girlfriend but it was nothing that he hadn't seen from her before therefore he wasn't as affected as she probably wanted him to be.
"Didn't I tell you to get stuffed a couple months ago?" She asked, tilting her head in confusion as to why he was even in the same hallway as her, let alone blocking her path.
"You told me never to talk to you again." He corrected, smirking when she huffed at him. "There's a bit of a difference."
"Well then, get stuffed, Jay." CJ spoke with a wry smile, pulling her wrist free so that she could walk away. She didn't get far before he lifted her over his shoulder, fighting against all of her struggles as he carried her down the hall. What blew her mind was that nobody was trying to stop him, either. Here she was being carried away obviously against her will down a crowded hallway and nobody made any effort to stop Jay from carrying her away or even asked what he was doing. "Hey!"
"Stop fighting me, Chrissie."
"You're way out of line, Reso."
"When have I ever been in line with you?" He asked with a chuckle, opening a door and dropping CJ on the table that was in the room. She looked around at her surroundings and sighed when she saw that there was only one door, and Jay was standing between her and that door. This probably wasn't going to be pleasant for her, and it wouldn't be pleasant for him when he finally felt her giving him the black eye he deserved for pulling this stunt among other things. "We need to talk."
"This couldn't have waited until I took a shower?"
"You would've figured out some way to dodge me." He reasoned, taking a huge risk and reaching out to push some of her hair behind her ear. "Besides, you look cute when you're pissed off and kinda sweaty."
"What would you like to talk about, Jay? I've got a boyfriend and baby to deal with, too,I don't really have too much time to waste."
"What the hell happened out there? Because you never take opponents apart piece by piece like you did to that poor Uso girl."
"I don't think I need to explain my actions to you, Jay." CJ spoke, leaning back against her elbows in an attempt to seduce Jay. She didn't want to sleep with him, but this was the position they were always in when they had sex on a table back when they were together. He seemed unfazed, though, and she felt a bit uncomfortable while he stared at her while he waited for a response from her that he actually wanted to hear. "But, if you must know, I've got a chip on my shoulder and a fuck ton of things to prove to a whole lot of people."
"You don't have to prove anything to anyone, Tina. You never did." Jay spoke softly, wishing that he knew where all of this was coming from. He probably would if he hadn't have fucked things up between them, but he couldn't go back in time to fix it.
"They're doubting me, Jay, therefore I do have something to prove."
"Who's doubting you?"
"Everyone, Jay! You may not pay close attention to what people say on the internet but I do! Not to mention that my own boyfriend is hiding something pretty fucking important from me, but won't tell me, because he's afraid that I don't have the focus to be able to go into matches without letting it distract me!" She ranted, sliding from her seat on the table and looking up at him. "Do you know how much it fucking stings to know that Seth fucking Rollins is more trusted with information than you?"
"No, I don't. But you can't take those frustrations out on other people."
"Only I can, Jay, and I will because that's the only way I know how to deal with things now that shutting everyone out isn't an option." CJ spoke bitterly, gently shoving the older man out of her way so she could head for the door. "Are we done here?"
"Yeah, Tina, we're done."
Dean watched quietly as his girlfriend fed their daughter. She was smiling and giggly and just plain happy, which was a complete 180 compared to her attitude earlier in the night. Earli er he had seen somebody new to him, never had he ever seen her so upset by something and he hoped to God that it wasn't a direct result of her being pissed off a couple days ago. If it was, he didn't know what he'd do because it meant that he was responsible for his best friend's cousin's wife having a concussion.
"Hey, babe?"
"Hm?" CJ hummed, turning to face Dean momentarily to let him know that he had her attention before going back to Olivia.
"Are you mad at me?"
"Furious. But it's whatever, right? No need for you to stress out or anything." She basically blew him off, yet gave him the answer to his question, and terrified him all at the same time because she also told him why she was furious.
"Yeah," Dean mumbled, scratching at the back of his neck nervously. "We should probably talk about that."
"It's over now, Dean. I don't care. Obviously you've made it clear that I don't need to know even if I'm just as affected as you."
"I was just trying to protect you, Christina." He whispered, and CJ sighed because that was all he ever did. Did it ever cross his mind that she was capable of taking care of herself She was a grown ass woman, she didn't nee him protecting her all the time.
"But part of being in a relationship is that I protect you, too. You're robbing me of the opportunity to even try when you don't even tell me what the hell is going on." She reasoned, wiping at Olivia's face with a smile so that the infant wasn't upset by her parent's basically arguing right in front of her. "Messy girl."
"What do you want me to do, CJ? Help me fix this."
"Fix this? We've got a breach in trust here and you're asking me how to fix it?"
"Well, yeah. I'm not good at this shit, 'Stina. The fact that this is the worst fight we've had as a couple is a fucking miracle in my eyes, babe." Dean explained, watching as CJ pulled Olivia out of the high chair and held the infant close.
"Stop hiding shit from me, Dean. It's not fucking rocket science."
"Once Olive is asleep for the night I'll explain everything to you, alright?"
"Alright." CJ sighed, not knowing if she actually wanted to know what was going on. Being angry at everything was such a breath of fresh air and earned her plenty of praise from Paul and Brock, she wasn't sure that she wanted to give that up. It wasn't like she was being frustrated and physical with him, and Olivia wasn't negatively affected, so it wasn't a bad thing. At least she felt it wasn't a bad thing. Jay obviously would beg to differ and Dean might, as well. "What's your opinion on my performance tonight?"
"Honestly, it was kinda terrifying for a minute and then it was probably the hottest thing I've ever seen you do in the ring."
Get ready for a repeat performance on Sunday, babe. CJ thought to herself, smiling at her boyfriend as he stepped closer. Sunday was going to be the biggest night of her life, and after Sunday she'd tone down the ferocity until somebody royally pissed her off again.
"Kick out." Brock called, watching closely as CJ and Seth sparred. Chris was a bit heavier than the two toned man, but if she could kick out from under Seth than she should be able to kick out from under Chris when you added adrenaline to the mix. Dean watched from the side, holding Olivia while periodically glancing at his phone for updates on his pending restraining order against his mother. CJ didn't feel that it was necessary to go that far, but he wasn't taking any chances. She crossed the line when she posted his home phone number online, showing that she'd do anything for his attention and he knew that she wouldn't be above showing up on his front porch to cause a scene.
"Seth, roll her up!"
"Did you just squeeze my ass?" CJ laughed as she rolled out of the pin, sitting up and looking at Seth as he shrugged.
"Not if Dean asks."
"Shut up, Seth." Dean chuckled, getting a laugh out of Brock before his phone started to ring. "I have to take this."
Without saying anything further, Dean handed Olivia over to her Uncle Brock and left the room, leaving behind three confused adults but not even caring about them in that moment. It was a call from a blocked number, and he worried that it was possibly his mother calling him again. He hoped that it was, because he needed to set her straight and demand that he leave his family alone for the last time.
"For somebody who doesn't want to talk to me, you seem to always answer the phone."
"And for somebody trying to have a relationship with her son and granddaughter, you seem to always fuck up any chance you could have had at achieving that." Dean retorted, leaning back against the wall to take a deep breath. "I want you to leave me and my family alone."
"I just can't do that, Dean. That's what you go by now, isn't it?"
"Why can't you?"
The only response he got was the dial tone, letting him know that she had hung up on him and leaving him to wonder just what the hell was going on. Was she in some kind of trouble or was she just trying to bait him in? Either way he was nervous and needed that restraining order to come through sooner rather than later.
Look at this! A quick update! I've kicked writer's block's ass for the time being. Probably because I devoted this weekend to R&R with no interruptions by work. But watch, in like a week its going to slam me with a thick wall to work around.
Anyways, I'd like to thank Imagineer1392, UntilNeverDawns, Sarcastic Nightmare, Flash96, CarolReigns, TajiaK, calwitch, Pinayprincesa, and ChelleLew for reviewing the last chapter!
