Chapter 506.
"The Baseball Honicutt."
(The Loud House.)
At this time, Lincoln Loud is making his way out of the room he shares with Luna and he goes down the halls, because he has a big baseball game to see. Why? Because his best friend, Liam L. Honicutt is playing and he wants to cheer him on.
Lincoln then stops and he backs up and looks into the room which is shared by the Goth and the sports jock and he sees Lynn looking concerned. "Lynn? Everything okay?"
The sports jock sister snaps out of it and she looks onto her brother. "Huh, what? Oh yeah, doing fine. Everything's chill little brother. Why wouldn't things be?"
Lincoln can sense some tension within Lynn, tension of someone being all worried and concerned. "Okay, well we are gonna go to the game now. You should head down to Vanzilla."
"Yeah, okay. Race ya!" Lynn races down the stairs ad out the door, Lincoln could see that Lynn is acting unusual and this only means something happened and Lynn is possibly to blame, but he won't know unless he sees it.
'Dang it Lynn, what the heck have you gotten yourself into this time?' Lincoln heads down the stairs and he hops into Luna's car and they drive off to the baseball stadium to check out the game.
The eagles take to the skies and watch out for any signs of trouble.
Luna then looks to her little brother. "You ready to see your friend play this game bro?"
"Yeah, I am." Lincoln didn't quite feel right about what could happen today and so she hopes that this doesn't have anything to do with Liam.
They all begin to drive off to the place where the Royal Woods Kangaroos are gonna play ball.
But as they drive, Lincoln gets this message from his hero version.
Cmdr. Freezer Burn: Hey there Loud, we're planning to come over and see how things have been doing. Tomorrow, get ready.
Lincoln smiles seeing this. 'At least something good will come from this when tomorrow hits.'
(Royal Woods Baseball Stadium.)
The game is set and everyone is looking onward to see how the game will go down for their baseball team who have been winning a lot lately and as of now the announcers make their statement of what this game is all about.
"Bottom of the first and we got the Cow Pie Kid on the mound, ready to win the kangaroo's the championship."
Liam takes a deep breath and he looks to his friends at the bleachers all cheering for him and Tabby as well, though she looks concerned, almost like she knows what might happen.
'Alright Liam. You can do this, you can do this. Memaw helped ya out in patching this arm up, and everyone is counting on you to make this pitch and gosh darn it Liam, this is the championship and we have got to win this one!'
Liam then makes the pitch and the batter of the rival team miss. "Strike one!"
Liam smiles and sees Lynn giving him the thumbs up, but she's having some doubts about putting the kid on the mound. 'Yes, I just hope he can last long… But, this feels kinda wrong.'
Later: After multiple games against Hazeltucky, Liam makes the pitch again and again the batter misses.
"You're outta here!" yelled the Umpire.
After a few more games, the Kangaroos are on a hot streak in some wins and some loses, and Liam is making the pitches and giving his team the big wins.
Liam makes another pitch and the Hazeltucky batter misses this one.
"Strike three! You are out!" yelled the Umpire.
Lynn smiles seeing this. 'Dang, we might actually win this. Way to go, Honicutt.'
After a few more games, the Royal Woods Kangaroos are at 3 points, with Hazeltucky at 2.
Everyone cheers as this game gets intense.
"Tight game here at the ninth folks, with loaded bases and two outs. Cow Pie Kid is one out from the big win."
Liam takes a moment to catch his breath and then he looks to the score board and then to his arm.
'Come on now, Liam. Ya'll got this, no need to be worrying about this stick and sure as heck I am not losing this game. The team and everyone are counting on me to bringing the Kangaroos to the championship. I can do this, because I am… The Cow. Pie. Kid! And I drink milk for breakfast!'
He makes the pitch, but his arm twists from the throw making him groan from the sudden pain.
The ball then goes AWOL and nearly hits Annabelle who is also in the team. "What the heck? Dude! Seriously?!"
"Sorry about that!" Liam then looks to his arm.
"Time out! Time out!" Lynn goes over to Liam. "Liam, what the heck was that? What happened and…." Lynn sees his arm and is now concerned. "Liam, go and take the benches."
"What? No, let me do this Lynn. I wanna win this, let me do this for the team Lynn" said Liam. He looks to his arm. "I don't need no science and numbers to make myself feel comfortable, I already feel confident enough that I can win this."
Lynn smiles at the determination in Liam. Even though she is concerned about this. "Alright, fine. But, be careful Liam."
Lynn then goes back to her position, but the rest of the louds and Lincoln's friends were not looking happy about what was happening. "What the heck just happened to Liam's arm?" asked Lincoln.
Tabby sighs. "Guys, Liam's arm is busted and it has been like this since three days ago."
"What?!" Lincoln looks to Tabby. "Then, how the heck was his arm able to manage earlier?"
"Because his memaw helped make something to cure his arm, but I guess it didn't work and now it's all worn out" said Tabby, she looks down with so much concern. "I tried to tell him to stop, but he seemed determined and said that he wanted to win this for the team."
"He's never been into a sport kinda like this. Sure, he has some good skills in dodge ball, but this is a championship and he said he wants to help Royal Woods end this darn losing streak and make a win."
They were all concerned and worried about this and then Lucy looks towards Lisa. "Lisa, anything about what might happen to Liam's arm?"
Lisa looks closely with binoculars which Luan was using earlier. "Hmm, looks like an acute soft tissue injury to its contractile components. I'd say that there'd be a 30 percent chance he could continue pitching and a 70 percent chance of doing so could permanently damage his arm."
They all are jaws dropped hearing this, and this makes Clyde faint. Lincoln looks to Liam with concern. "I don't like those odds."
The game soon begins and the announcer is seeing the whole ordeal.
"Well it's game on. Looks like Team Captain Lynn Loud is gonna allow an injured Cow Pike Kid to stay on the mound. We're down on the wire folks, this could very well be the winning pitch. Clenching the biggest rounds in the history of the league."
Lynn looks towards Liam and is having so many worries buzzing into her head. 'Gosh darn it. Liam can't do this, I can't risk him getting hurt, or worse and worst of all. Lincoln is gonna kill me for pushing him into this game.'
So, she goes over to Liam. "Liam Honicutt, as team captain you're benched. I can't have you going out there and injuring yourself. It's gonna get worse and from experience, it gets worse. Even though this here is the championship, I can't risk you injuring your arm. Go on Liam, and hand over the ball."
Liam sighs. "Dang it. Well, you're the captain." Liam hands her the ball and he goes back to the bench.
Liam then looks to the team. "Paula, you're pitching!"
Paula is surprised to hear this and she gets up and makes her way to the mound. (Let's do some recap guys. Paula doesn't have her crutch anymore in this story, so she is a good to go baby!)
"Well, well. Looks like Team captain Lynn Loud is benching the Cow Pie Kid, and letting one of her teammates Paula Price to take his place onto the mound. With bases loaded, two outs and two strikes, the championship rides on this pitch. What do you think Pep?"
The other commentator looks to his partner. "Why are you talking to me for?"
Paula then looks to the batter, and she winds up and makes the throw and the batter misses by an inch and that means only one thing!
"You are out!"
"And that is done for folks! Royal Woods has one, and Hazeltucky has lost! And all thanks to an immediate replacement to let Paula Price onto the mound! The Royal Woods Kangaroos wins it folks!"
Lynn is surprised by this, she's seen Paula having it hard when they faced their opponents last month, but seeing this happen is a total game changer. Looks like all they needed was some confidence and someone to lead the team that they could win, and even though he didn't pitch, Liam at least sparked some hope into the team.
Lynn goes over with the others to congratulate Paula for what she did, and so does Tabby who goes over to check on Liam.
Lynn then sees Lincoln and Jordan sternly looking to her. Lynn chuckles nervously. "Yeah, I have a lot to explain don't I?"
"Yeah, pretty much" said Lincoln. "But, I can see that you learned your lesson and you made the right choice in not endangering my best friend, well done LJ." Lincoln claps and then he stops and goes near Lynn. "Do not let this happen again Lynn."
Lynn nods. "Yeah noted."
They all go over and cheer and celebrate for the big win Royal Woods got.
