I don't own Atla only my OC Kaiyan
Two months later Kaiyan is recovered enough to leave the Medical hut and start to move around.
Kaiyan spent the next year recovering from the burn and the trauma of losing his mother.
In the spring of the second year following the raid and Kya's death, Kaiyan now 14 decided to start training again.
I think it's time I resume my training said Kaiyan.
Kaiyan it's too soon said Gran-gran.
But Gran-Gran I've been recovering for over a year now and I won't go overboard at first I just need to do this I need to get stronger said Kaiyan.
Son no one blames you for what happened that day said Hakoda.
I know but I still feel guilty said Kaiyan.
If that's what you truly want we'll start tomorrow said Hakoda.
So the next his father started teaching him and he soaked everything in and then he decided to start going hunting alone which his family didn't like but let him go anyhow.
Over the next six months, Kaiyan sharpened any skill he could. His hearing, his speed, his flexibility, his, and most of all his waterbending.
Then one-day Hakoda walked up to Kaiyan as he was doing his waterbending.
You're getting good with that son said Hakoda.
Thanks, dad said Kaiyan.
You know when first started all the training I thought maybe it was too soon but you've come a long way the last six months and I think your ready for Ice dodging said Hakoda.
I thought you had forgotten about that said Kaiyan.
Well, i was worried it would be too much for you but clearly, i was wrong said Hakoda.
When do we leave? asks Kaiyan.
first light the day after tomorrow and I don't worry i;ve already taken care of everything said Hakoda.
But what about Gran-Gran? asks Kaiyan.
I already smoothed it over with her said Hakoda.
Ok said Kaiyan.
Well, we should head in for dinner said Hakoda.
They walk back to the village.
Two days later.
Ready son? asks Hakoda.
Um question is it against the rules to use waterbending in this? asks Kaiyan.
I would say it's an unfair advantage but I don't see why not as long as you don't tell anyone said Hakoda.
Got it said Kaiyan.
(Author's note: I not going to do the actually ice dodging scene because I can't really put it into words)
After the Ice dodging
Well done son saId Hakoda.
Thanks, dad said Kaiyan.
They sail home and the next day the village greets them and Kaiyan receives his marks.
Another four months and Kaiyan starts training with a spear and soon after he made a modified spear.
Then three more years passed and the preparation for the small water tribe fleet was complete and the day arrived when his father and other men were to leave to aid in the war.
As the men are loading up their luggage and Hakoda notice coming forward with his own bag and dressed in warriors grab with war makeup on his face.
Sokka said Hakoda.
I'm coming with you said Sokka.
You're not old enough to go to war Sokka, you know that said Hakoda.
I'm strong, I'm brave... I can fight Please dad said Sokka.
Sokka said Kaiyan.
But Kaiyan I can help, we both can, why aren't you going? said Sokka.
I'm not needed there said Kaiyan.
What you do mean? asks Sokka.
Being a man is knowing where you are needed the most and for you right, that's here, protecting your sister and helping your brother said Hakoda.
I don't understand said Sokka.
One day you will said Kaiyan.
I'm gonna miss you so much said Hakoda.
they watch as the boats sail away and before they knew another two years passed.
