Seeker stared up into the night sky, it was odd but she was not tired and she really didn't want to sleep unlike she had throughout the whole day. When she had awoken that morning she had found herself oddly tired even with a full night's sleep.
Because she couldn't sleep she decided to study the stars that were so unfamiliar to her. She didn't know too many constellations but she couldn't recognize any star that was currently overhead but it was understandable for this was not her home univers. What surprised her though was that many of the stars shined different colors, there were soft blues, lavenders, oranges and whites. On her earth the only stars that were visibly different colors were close planets.
She was drawn from her thoughts as she heard a familiar chirp of greeting and she looked to see SmallBite flying towards her. The little dragon landed, his tongue snaked over his eye.
"Storm Seeker hard to find, Storm Seeker good hider" the little dragon chirped to her causing her to tilt her head"
"Small Bite look for me? Why look?" she asked the small dragon.
"Want to see friend, see if friend ok. Heard friend battle with Fire Belly but friend won." Small Bit chirped at her. "Friend seems ok, I happy that you ok."
Seeker tilted her head in confusion. "Fire Belly?" she questioned.
"Flame Scale that Storm Seeker battled, Fire Belly mean to small wings, he mean to me so I happy Storm Seeker won." the small dog sized dragon said with a happy chirp.
Seeker nodded at the small dragon in understanding, It made sense that the terrible terrors were picked on by the much larger dragons. They were small and weak compared to the big dragons and this was the wild so she wouldn't be surprised if terrors were at the bottom of the dragon chain.
"Small Bite not have other small wing friends, Storm Seeker only friend?" Seeker asked curiously, she had been in the idea that Terrible Terrors were social pack dragons but she may have been wrong.
Small bite seemed to deflate at her words, "I only small wing on island, others taken, No scales hunters come and take many. Even big wings fall before hunters, that why few wings on island" the little dragon said with a shudder.
This caused Seeker to reel back in fear at the little dragon's words and the little dragon didn't blame her. "Was hunters here long ago? Are hunters at island much?"
Small bite gave a small growl, "Hunters here much, hunters just here. Hunters danger, danger, danger. Run or kill no scales, no let them catch you." the terror said seeming to grow frantic.
Seeker huffed as she watched the small dragon glance around nervously and she gave him a nudge with her snout. "Calm Small Bite, safe here, safe now." she said and the small dragon let out a huff.
Small Bite was still obviously agitated but he was no longer freaking out as he had moments before which was good in her opinion. With him settled she decided to lay down, crossing her paws in front of her. Small Bite watched her with a careful eye as she settled before he took a step towards her. She stared at him for a moment before she lifted one of her wings, Inviting the small dragon to her side.
Small bite excitedly mas his way towards her and he curled up by his side and he began to purr in confort. "I happy Seeker friend, happy Seeker nice." the little dragon trilled as he purred softly.
Seeker hummed at the small dragon before looking towards the sky. Her instincts had been screaming at her all day to spread her wings and fly but she had no Idea where to start and she really didn't want to break a wing while trying.
Small Bite seemed to see her longing as he stopped his purring and he stared at her intently. His eyes lit with curiosity as he watched her stare up at the sky above them which was lit by the stars and a large full moon.
"Storm Seeker wants to Fly? We fly together." Small bite said as he stood and spread his wings. Storm seeker shook her head and continued to lay on the ground confusing the small dragon. His new friend obviously wanted to fly but he was confused why she refused to.
"Why not fly?" he chirped to his friend but all he got in response was a snort and the large dragon draped her wing over her head blocking him out completely. Small bite tilted his head in confusion but obviously she was upset and he didn't want to make his new friend mad. So with that in mind he curled up against her side once again and closed his eyes.
When the small dragon was asleep Seeker moved her wing over him as well as her head to hold in the warmth and she closed her eyes, drifting into a dream filled with clouds and sky.
Seeker blinked open her eyes as growling filled her ears and she removed her wing causing sunlight to assault her eyes, blinking she glanced around in confusion before her eyes settled on Small Bite who was standing guard and growling. And who was the victim of the small dragon's ire? Her brother of cours who was looking at the small dragon in surprise.
Small Bite was napping and growling at Levi to keep his distance and her brother noticing she was awake gave her a desperate look for help as the small dragon shot a small ball of fire causing the boy to back away even more.
"OK Seeker as cute as this thing is, I do value my life so please tell it to back off and not try to cook me" the boy said as he gestured to the angry Terrible Terror.
Seeker gave a chuff and stood onto her paws where she then moved herself in between Small Bite and Levi which seemed to confuse the small dragon because he gave her a look that seemed to say are you insane.
"No scale mine, not hurt mine!" Seeker gave Small Bite a small growl causing him to look at her in disbelief.
"No scales danger. No scales hunt wings, no scales danger!" the dragon squaked.
Seeker huffed then she placed herself next to her brother, wrapping her tail around him and her wings spread slightly. "Mine good, mine wing brother. We nest mates, grow together." she stated causing Small Bites eyes to widen and he stared at them.
Seeker could feel the small dragon beginning to calm so she stepped away from her brother and used her head to tell her brother to approach the small dragon. Levi gave her a long look of apprehension and she rolled her eyes before she nudged him forwards.
Levi glanced at the before he got to his knees and he held out a hand twords the Terrible Terror. Slowly Small Bite stepped forward as he sniffed the air but his eyes never left Levi. When he was close to the boy his eyes moved to the boys outstretched arm and slowly the dragon pressed his snout into the open hand.
Levi's breath hitched and slowly moved his hand to the small dragons chin and began to scratch causing the Terror to let out a loud purr and it melted in the boys hand. Levi couldn't help but smile as he rubbed the dragon. "There we go, I'm not so bad after all am I?" he said as he picked up the blissful little dragon.
Seeker chuffed in a laugh and she walked over to ther brother who was now holding an attention greedy Terrible Terror who was pushing himself into the boys touch. "Looks like Small Bite is flock now." she scribbled on the ground.
"I guess so." Levi said as he finally put the small dragon back on the ground. "As much as I hate to put you down Small Bite I do need to go start a fire and get some food in me before we do anything else today." Levi told the now pouting Terrible Terror.
The boy then turned to grab some food from the river leaving Small Bite and Storm Seeker to themselves.
"Storm Seekes no scales is good, Different from hunter no scales." Small bite chirped as he began to follow after the boy eagerly.
"Not all no scales bad" Seeker said as she walked behind the small dragon.
They followed Levi around for a good bit before they settled down by the fire that Seeker had lit for her brother so he could reheat more the meat from the kill the day before. Seeker herself along with Small bite decided to eat their portions cold as the boy cooked and talked.
"So do you think maybe you should try flying today? Because if we can get into the air we can see where we are and maybe get to civilization." Levi spoke as he poked at the fire.
Seeker gave him a nervous look before she began to scribble into the dirt. "I guess, as much as i'd like to wait the sooner the better and nothing will change if I dont try."
Levi gave her a nod, "We could start you off small. Maybe start off with gliding down from the waterfall but then of course you would have to make your way back up here."
"Not a bad Idea, and I think no matter where I take off there would be climbing involved so I don't mind." She wrote down and her brother gave a nod.
"Then its settled, today you learn how to fly… Hopefully" he added with a sheepish smile, "It would suck being the only dragon with wings who can't fly."
Seeker narrowed her eyes and she slapped her brother in the head with her tail causing him to yelp and rubbed the back of his head. "Ok, I get it." he grumbled. "No making fun of the world's only flightless dragon.
A growl erupted from Seeker as she whirled on her brother and pounced, pinning the 12 year old boy thith her weight as she was now proudly sitting on top of him as he struggled and squirmed, trying to get out from under her.
"Ooh get off ya fat lizard!" he said as he pushed on her chest but he froze as he saw the look on his sister's face.
Seekers eyes shined in mischief as she suddenly licked her brother causing a sequel to escape him and she then got off of him as he desperately tried to whip the saliva off of himself which wasn't working to well and the boy shot her a glare as he grumbled about having to take a bath in the frigid river before they did anything else.
With that the boy walked to the river and he slowly made his way in while shivering the whole time. He dunked his head under and he tried his best to wash his clothes before he shot out of the water shivering violently and he ran to the fire. The boy quickly stripped to his boxers and he hung his clothes on a branch above the fire to dry.
Feeling pity for her brother Seeker lay down next to the fire and lifted her wing, inviting her brother who gladly sat next to her and he pressed his shivering self against her side and Small Bite crawled into his lap acting like a heater as he warmed his body and puffed out hot smoke from his nostrils.
"This still doesn't mean we're even, we'll be even when you take me on a flight" Levi told his sister with a smirk causing her to roll her eyes at him. He smiled in victory as he returned to poking at the fire with his stick.
