i don't own Atla only my OC Kaiyan.

Two years later

A now 17-year-old Kaiyan walks towards his family at the fire pit just finishing up cleaning up breakfast.

Sokka get your spear we're going fishing said Kaiyan

Can I come? I wanna help asks Katara.

Sure said Kaiyan.

I better not get soaked again said Sokka.

Sokka said Kaiyan warningly.

Scene change

Timeskip

It's not getting away from me this time said Sokka.

Watch and learn Katara this is how you catch a fish said Sokka.

Katara looks at him with an unimpressed look while Kaiyan shakes this head and returns to fishing.

A few minutes later.

Sokka! Kaiyan! look i caught one said Katara.

Kaiyan looks up from his work and sees Katara has a fish in a bubble.

Kaiyan nodded in approval and then went back to fishing.

Ssh Katara you're gonna scare it away whispers Sokka.

He lifts his spear only to pop Katara's bubble.

Hey said Katara.

Why is it every time you play with magic water I get soaked? asks Sokka.

Ugh, It's no magic it's waterbending, said Katara.

Yeah yeah, an ancient art unique to our culture blah blah blah said Sokka.

Look I'm just saying that if I had weird powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself said Sokka.

Sokka that's not nice said Kaiyan.

If anyone is weird it's you at least Kaiyan doesn't make muscles at himself every time he sees his reflection on the water said Katara.

He gives her a look.

Then they feel their boats shake.

The boats are caught in a rapid current, which is pulling them toward a jumble of large icebergs which block the end of the narrow passage formed by the walls of ice.

Sokka and Kaiyan paddle the boat in an attempt to stay clear of any floating chunks of ice.

They manage to gain just enough speed to keep the boats from being crushed by two icebergs that slam together behind the boat. the canoe's as it is nearly pinned by a number of smaller chunks of ice.

Watch out said Kaiyan.

Go left! Go left said Katara.

The boats managed to stay clear of some of the icebergs, but veer to the right with the current and become pinned by three large chunks of ice.

As the canoe is completely crushed by the ice, Katara, Kaiyan, and Sokka throw themselves from the canoe and onto one of the floes.

You call that left? said Katara.

You don't like my steering? Well, maybe you should've waterbended us out of the ice said Sokka.

So it's my fault? said Katara.

I knew we should've left you home! Leave it to a girl to screw things up said Sokka.

Kaiyan sighs and shook his head.

You are the most sexist, nut-brained. I'm embarrassed to be related to you said Katara.

Ever since mom died, I've been doing all the work around camp while you've been off playing soldier said Katara.

Uh, Katara said Sokka.

Katara said Kaiyan.

I even wash all the clothes! Have you ever smelled your dirty socks? Let me tell you, not pleasant said Katara.

Even if Kaiyan spends most of the time and leaves for a bit, he always comes home with lots of food and even helps around the village said Katara.

Katara, settle down said Sokka.

No that's it! I'm done helping you! From now on, you're on your own said Katara.

Her last movement is her most agitated and it creates a huge wave which, when it impacts the iceberg, sends a number of fissures to snake their way up the iceberg; one of them reaches the top of the iceberg, splitting it completely in half. Petrified, Sokka gasps for air, and it is only now that Katara turns to look behind her. She gasps the two halves begin to fall away from each other and the siblings can be seen through the widening space between them.

Kaiyan shields them with his body and digs his spear firmly into the ice so they have some to hold onto.

You guys okay? asks Kaiyan as he gave each of them a once over to see if they were hurt.

We're okay said Katara.

Yeah, thanks Big bro and you've gone from weird to freakish Katara said Sokka.

You mean I did that? asks Katara.

Yep. Congratulations said Sokka.

Kaiyan chuckles at this but then notices the water glowing a strange blue.

He instantly puts his younger siblings behind him and grabs his spear from the ice.

Then a large, roughly spherical iceberg breaks the surface of the water.

He sees a human shape below a larger, indistinguishable mass. The human figure, perched in the lotus position, has glowing arrows on its head and hands. Suddenly, the boy opens his eyes, the same brilliant light emanating from them.

He's alive! We have to help said Katara.

Katara grabs Sokka's club out of its sheath on his back and pulls her hood over her head, heading in the direction of the strange boy sealed in the iceberg.

Katara, get back here said Kaiyan.

We don't know what that thing is said Sokka.

Katara hops across the short distance between her floe and the iceberg on five tiny chinks of ice; Sokka and Kaiyan close behind her does the same.

Reaching the iceberg first, Katara repeatedly strikes the iceberg with Sokka's club. On her fifth try, the club breaks through the surface and a great gust of wind, which escapes from within the iceberg, throws her and her brothers back from the side of the dome.

Fissures quickly snake their way over the whole iceberg and, in a massive outward explosion, the entire orb of ice destroys itself.

A beam of light bursts from the core of the iceberg and rockets into the sky. The camera shows the iceberg from the shallow sea bottom as it emits ripples of light.

Scene change

A ship, where a girl in a uniform stands on the deck, gazing at the light. His ponytail flutters in the wind.

Finally said the girl.

Uncle, do you realize what this means?! asks the girl.

I won't get to finish my game? said Her uncle

It means my search is about to come to an end said the girl.

That light came from an incredibly powerful source! It has to be him said the Girl.

Or it's just the celestial lights. We've been down this road before, Princess Zuko said her Uncle.

I don't want you to get too excited over nothing. Please, sit. Why don't you enjoy a cup of calming Jasmine tea? said her Uncle.

I don't need any calming tea! I need to capture the Avatar said Zuko.

Helmsman, head a course for the light said Zuko.

Scene change

Sokka looks at his sister and they both get to their feet, Katara holding onto her brother. He points his spear at the crater, ready to defend them, though lowers it in shock as a figure emerges slowly from the depression in the iceberg.

Kaiyan stepped in front of his siblings with his spear ready.

The circle of light finally dissipates as the boy stops glowing.

The figure is revealed to be nothing more than a young boy, who gives a moan of exhaustion and suddenly faints. Katara gasps and runs forward to catch him before he hits the ground. Sokka follows behind and begins to poke at the boy's head with the blunt end of his spear.

Stop it said Katara.

Katara places the boy gently against the base of the crater.

The boy as he slowly opens his gray eyes. He gasps in awe as he beholds the Southern Water Tribe girl, who stares at him, in wonder, with deep blue eyes. Her hair loops sway in the wind.

I need to ask you something said the boy.

What? asks Katara.

Please ... come closer said the boy.

What is it? asks Katara.

Will you go penguin sledding with me? asks the boy.

Is he serious whispers Sokka?

Kaiyan just shrugs his shoulders.

Uh, sure ... I-I guess said Katara.

What's going on here? asks the boy.

You tell us said Sokka.

How did you get in the ice? And why aren't you frozen? asks Sokka.

I'm not sure said the boy.

A low, gruff noise suddenly fills the air, coming from within the crater of the iceberg.

The boy scrambles up the ridge of ice and happily jumps on the head of a large, furry creature that has the same arrow-shaped marking on his forehead as the boy.

Appa! Are you all right? asks the boy.

Wake up, buddy said the boy.

The three siblings come around the corner.

What is that thing? asks Sokka.

This is Appa, my flying bison said the boy.

Right, and this is Katara, my flying sister said Sokka.

Then Appa sneezed on Sokka.

He squeals in disgust and begins to frantically tries to clean it off, rubbing his face in the snow.

Don't worry, it'll wash out said the boy.

So do you guys live around here? asks the boy.

Kaiyan's eyes narrowed at this.

Don't answer that said Sokka.

Did you see that crazy bolt of light?! He was probably trying to signal the Fire Navy said Sokka.

Oh yeah, I'm sure he's a spy for the Fire Navy. You can tell by that evil look in his eye said Katara.

The paranoid one is my brother, Sokka and the quiet one is our older brother Kaiyan said Katara.

You never told us your name said Katara.

I'm A ... a-a-a-Achoo said the boy.

The boy sneezes, creating an air blast that sends him soaring into the air. He lands on the ground.

I'm Aang said the boy.

This just got weird and at the same interesting thought Kaiyan.

You just sneezed and flew ten feet in the air said Sokka.

Really? It felt higher than that said Aang.

Looked more like 15 feet said Kaiyan.

Actually, it felt like 20 feet said Aang.

You're an Airbender said Katara.

Sure am said Aang.

That explains the clothes thought Kaiyan.

Giant light beams, flying bison, airbenders. I think I got midnight sun madness. I'm going home to where stuff makes sense said Sokka.

He realizes, however, that he is stranded in the middle of the ocean with no way home.

Well, if you guys are stuck, Appa and I can give you a lift said Aang.

We'd love a ride! Thanks said Katara.

Oh no! I'm not getting on that fluffy snot monster said Sokka.

Kaiyan waits for a few minutes and then walks towards Appa.

Bro, not you too said Sokka.

It's better than freezing to death said Kaiyan.

Then the bison licked Kaiyan from head to toe.

Then Kaiyan used his waterbending to get the saliva off him.

Hey, you're a waterbender said Aang.

Kaiyan nods and climbs onto Appa.

Don't take it personally Kaiyan just isn't a very talkative person but he is nice said Katara.

Sokka gets up here already I don't wanna have to tell Gran Gran you froze to death said Kaiyan.

He sighs and climbs on.

Okay, first-time flyers hold on tight said Aang.

Appa, Yip-Yip said Aang.

Appa grunts jumps into the air, and lands in the water with a huge splash.

Wow, that was truly amazing said Sokka.

Both his siblings give him a look.

Appa's just tired said Aang.

A little rest and he'll soaring through the sky, you'll see said Aang.

Why are you smiling at me like that? asks Katara.

Oh, I was smiling said Aang.

Ugh said Sokka.

Kaiyan just smiles a little but is still wary of the newcomer.

Scene change

I'm going to bed now said Iroh.

Yep. A man needs his rest said Iroh.

Princess Zuko, you need some sleep said her Uncle.

Even if you are right and the Avatar is live, you won't find him said her Uncle.

Your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all tried and failed said her Uncle.

Because their honor didn't hinge on the Avatar's capture said Zuko.

Mine does said Zuko.

This coward's hundred years in hiding are over said Zuko.

Scene change

Hey said Katara.

Hey. What are you thinking about? asks Aang.

I guess I was wondering about you being an Airbender and all. If you had any idea what happened to the Avatar? said Katara.

Kaiyan cracks his eye open at the word Avatar and listens in.

Uh no. I didn't know him. I mean I knew people that knew him, but I didn't. Sorry said Aang.

Okay. just curious said Katara.

Good night said Katara.

Kaiyan closes his eye again and lets the sleep take him.

Hours later Kaiyan wakes up.

He goes to the front of the saddle, looks out, and sees the village in the distance.

He gets onto Appa's head and he shakes Aang awake.

Aang wake up said Kaiyan.

Huh? is it morning? is it time for breakfast? asks Aang?

No, we're nearing the village said Kaiyan.

Oh, which way? asks Aang.

Just keep heading straight until you see a wall made of snow and ice and you're there said Ka

Aye aye sir said Aang.

Sokka wake up said Kaiyan.

What happened are under attack? asks Sokka.

No we're almost home said Kaiyan.

Finally said Sokka.

What's all the noise? asks Katara.

We're almost back to the village said Kaiyan.

Ok said Katara.

20 minutes later they reach the village.

All ashore that's going ashore shouts Aang.

Keep it down Aang everyone's still sleeping said Kaiyan.

Oh sorry whispered Aang.

They get off Appa.

You two go to our tent while I get Aang settled in an empty tent said Kaiyan.

OK said both.

And don't wake Gran-Gran going in said Kaiyan.

Got it said Sokka.

Once his Siblings were out of sight Kaiyan turned to Aang.

Follow me Aang and stay quiet said Kaiyan.

But what about Appa? asks Aang.

He'll have to stay outside the wall but the ice around here will hold him said Kaiyan.

OK said Aang.

They walk into the tiny village and Kaiyan leads Aang to an empty tent.

Your lucky Aang one of our Elderly died this winter so this tent is vacant said Kaiyan.

Uh, thanks said Aang.

Get some sleep while you still can dawn is about 4 hours away said Kaiyan.

Time skip

Kaiyan wakes up and gets ready for the day.

Good Morning Kaiyan said Gran-Gran.

Morning said Kaiyan.

So why were you and your siblings so late getting in last night? asks Gran-Gran.

Does it have something to do with a giant animal outside the village? asks Gran-Gran

Kaiyan looks at his brother and sister.

Don't look at us we didn't tell her anything said Sokka.

They didn't I saw the animal outside this morning when I went out for firewood said Gran-Gran.

Gran-Gran why didn't you wake me I would have gotten the wood said Kaiyan.

You kids got in late last night I decided not to wake you said Gran-Gran.

Now, who is our mystery visitor? asks Gran-Gran.

It'll be easier to show you said Kaiyan.

After breakfast, the village gathers at the tent where Kaiyan put Aang.

Katara goes to get him and Aang comes out a few minutes later.

Aang, this is the entire village said Katara.

Entire village, Aang said Katara.

Aang bows to them.

Uh, why are they all looking at me like that? asks Aang.

Did Appa sneeze on me? asks Aang.

Well, no one has seen an Airbender in a hundred years said Gran-Gran.

We thought they were extinct until my Granddaughter and Grandsons found you said Gran-Gran.

Extinct? said Aang.

Aang this is my Grandmother said Katara.

Call me Gran-Gran said Gran-Gran.

Sokka walks up to Aang and takes his staff.

What is this, a weapon? asks Sokka.

You can't stab anything with this said Sokka.

Aang takes the staff using Airbending.

It's not for stabbing said Aang.

It's for Airbending said Aang.

Aang opens the staff.

Kaiyan was impressed.

Girl: Magic trick! do it again.

Kaiyan chuckles lightly at this.

Not magic, airbending said Aang.

It lets me control the air current around my glider and fly said Aang.

Ya know, last time I checked, humans can't fly said Sokka.

Check again said Aang.

Aang takes off but after a few minutes and not looking where he's going Aang crashes into a watchtower made of snow.

Oh, my watchtower said Sokka.

Great. You're an Airbender. Katara's a Waterbender. Together you can waste time all day long said Sokka.

Sokka said Kaiyan.

You're a waterbender too, Katara? asks Aang.

Well sort of, not yet said Katara.

She's more skilled than I am said Kaiyan.

He's just staying that said Katara.

All right no more playing said Gran-Gran.

Come on Katara you have chores said Gran-Gran.

I told you, he's the real thing Gran-Gran now I finally have another bender to teach me. No offense Kaiyan said Katara,

None taken said Kaiyan.

Katara, try not to put all your hopes in this boy said Gran-Gran.

But he's special I can tell said Katara.

I sense he's filled with much wisdom said Katara.

They look over to see Aang's tongue is stuck to his staff.

Much wisdom huh? said Kaiyan.

But I get what you mean said Kaiyan.

You do? said Katara.

Not your extent but there's something about this kid said Kaiyan.

Time skip

Kaiyan walks into Sokka "training" the young boys of the village

Boy: I gotta pee.

Listen! Until your fathers return from the war, they're counting on you to be the men of this tribe, and mean no potty breaks said Sokka.

Boy: but I really gotta go.

Sokka sighs.

Ok who else to go? asks Sokka.

They all raised their hands.

Sokka facepalms.

Kaiyan laughs and walks over to his brother.

Their kids Sokka said Kaiyan.

I know said Sokka.

And yet you treat them like their men said Kaiyan.

Katara walks up to them.

Have you guys seen Aang? asks Katara.

Gran-Gran says he disappeared over an hour ago said Katara.

Kaiyan points to the hut that serves as their bathroom.

There said Kaiyan.

Wow, everything freezes in there said Aang.

Ugh, Katara get him out of here said Sokka.

This lesson is for warriors only said Sokka.

Boy: wee.

Sokka turns to see the boys playing on Appa, using his tail as a slide.

Kaiyan smiles at this.

Stop! Stop it right now said Sokka.

What's wrong with you? asks Sokka.

We don't have time for fun and games with the war going on said Sokka.

What war? What are you talking about? asks Aang.

Kaiyan went wide-eyed at this.

You're kidding right? asks Sokka.

PENGUIN yells Aang.

Kaiyan raises an eyebrow at this.

The Penguin flees and Aang chases after it.

He's kidding right? asks Sokka.

I don't he was, Sokka said Kaiyan.

Katara goes after Aang and Sokka goes back to "training" the kids.

Kaiyan ponders about how this kid could not know about the war that's been raging for the last century.

Kaiyan eventually ends up at his grandmother's hut.

Kaiyan? What's wrong? said Gran-Gran.

A feeling said Kaiyan.

They went inside the hut.

Now, what's troubling my eldest grandchild? ask Gran-Gran.

It's Aang said Kaiyan.

When we found him, he was inside a dome of ice and he was glowing arrows and all. Then we find out he's Airbender and now he says he knows nothing about the war that has been happening for the last century said Kaiyan.

Something is bothering you, Isn't it? asks Gran-Gran.

Yes, I have this feeling Aang's appearance is gonna cause something to happen said Kaiyan but I don't know what and that's why I've kept my distance from him said Kaiyan.

Am I being too cautious Gran-Gran? said Kaiyan.

Maybe. Then again Maybe not said Gran-Gran.

The future is an uncertain thing said Gran-Gran.

I don't pretend to know everything that goes on, but I do know your instincts have gotten you through a lot said Gran-Gran.

You are strong, Kaiyan. I know not if it's because you are blessed by the moon spirit but when the time comes, I'm certain you will know what to do with your strength said Gran-Gran.

Thanks, Gran-Gran said Kaiyan.

Anytime said Gran-Gran.

Scene change

Aang said Katara.

Hey, come little guy said Aang.

Wanna go sledding? asks Aang.

Heh heh, I have a way with animals said Aang.

Aang, I'll help you catch a penguin if you teach me waterbending said Aang.

You got a deal said Aang.

Just one little problem... I'm an Airbender, not a Waterbender said Aang.

Isn't there someone in your tribe who can teach you? asks Aang.

What about Kaiyan, he seems skilled at it said Aang.

He's tried to teach me, whenever he's home and not training and had the spare time, he would spend it all with either me or Sokka said Katara.

His skill is great but it's like he can't put his skills into words. It's the same with Sokka when Kaiyan tries to him to use a weapon said Katara,

So... he's skilled but can't teach said Aang.

He's skilled but can't teach. At not something he hasn't been taught himself said Katara.

You see it was our father who taught Kaiyan how to wield different weapons, but Kaiyan taught himself waterbending and how to use his spear said Katara.

He trains every day but he's not a musclehead like Sokka said Katara.

Kaiyan is amazing, he says I'm more skilled than him but I think he just says that to make me feel better said Katara.

Speaking of Kaiyan, how come he looks different than you and Sokka? asks Aang.

Not bad different! said Aang.

Um, it's not just his hair... he has a different feeling to him. I'm not exactly sure how to word it said Aang.

He's blessed by the moon spirit, or so the elders say said Katara.

They say his hair is proof of its blessing said Katara.

He doesn't like it though, he says it makes him look old said Katara.

But's it so cool said Aang.

I know, right said Katara.

He should brag more, but he's so humble it makes no sense said Katara.

And he's so skilled at Waterbending even without a master to teach him, make makes me jealous sometimes said Katara.

Kaiyan may not be a master, but he's on his way even more so than I am said Katara.

This isn't right. A Waterbender needs to master water said Aang.

What about the North Pole? There's another Water Tribe up there right? asks Aang.

Maybe they have Waterbender who can teach you both said Aang.

Maybe but we haven't had contact with our sister tribe in a long time said Katara.

It's not exactly, turn right at the second glacier. it's on the other side of the world said Katara.

But you forget, I have a flying bison said Aang.

Appa and I can personally fly you to the North Pole said Aang.

Katara, we're going to find you and Kaiyan a master said Aang.

That's... mean I don't know said Katara.

I've never left home before said Katara.

And Kaiyan was put in charge of the village after our father left, so I don't know if he'll want to leave said Katara.

Well, you think about it and, i'll ask Kaiyan if he wants when we get back said Aang.

In the meantime, you can teach me to catch one of these penguins? asks Aang.

Ok, listen closely my young pupil, catching penguins is an ancient and sacred art said Katara.

Observe said Katara.

She tosses him a small fish and the penguins swarm Aang.

Scene change

Both: Whoo.

I've done this since i was a kid said Katara.

You still are a kid said Aang.

They go through a tunnel and end up on a snowy plain.

But on it is a black metal ship trapped in ice.

Whoa, what is that? asks Aang.

A fire navy ship and a very bad memory for my people said Katara.

Wait Aang we're not allowed to go near it said Katara.

The ship could be boobey trapped said Katara.

If you wanna be a bender you have to let go of your fears said Aang.

They climb up the ice and enter through a hole in the ship's hull.

Scene change

This ship has haunted my tribe since Gran-Gran was a little girl said Katara.

It was part of the Fire Nation's first attacks said Katara.

Okay, back up said Aang.

I have friends all over the world, even in the Fire Nation said Aang.

I've never seen any war said Aang.

Aang how long were in that iceberg? asks Katara.

I don't know. A few days maybe said Aang.

I think it was more like a hundred years said Katara.

What?! That's impossible said Aang.

Do I look like a hundred-twelve-year-old man to you? asks Aang.

Think about it said Katara.

The war is a century-old said Katara.

You don't know about it because somehow you were in there that whole time said Katara.

It's the only explanation said Katara.

A hundred years! I can't believe it said Aang.

I'm sorry Aang said Katara.

Maybe somehow there's a bright side to all this said Katara.

I did get to meet you said Aang.

Come on let's get out of here said Katara.

Scene change

Aang let's head back said Katara.

this place is creepy said Katara.

Then Aang's foot hits tripwire that traps them and sets off a flare.

Scene change

Kaiyan is training with his spear when he hears a Boom.

Huh said Kaiyan.

He looks skyward and sees the flare.

Oh, no said Kaiyan,
