Thank you so much for the amazing responses to my story. I am truly grateful. Hope this next chapter doesn't disappoint.

It was quiet at the hospital when he arrived, there was only a few people in the waiting room. Lucifer paced in front for the nurse's station for a few minutes before he slowly made his way to the detective's room. He peered into the room from the door. The smell of fresh flowers hit his nose immediately. The room looked more like a greenhouse instead of a hospital room. She was alone in the room laying on the bed. The tube still in her mouth. Lucifer looked down at the glossy white floor, building up his courage to just take a step into the room.

"Excuse me." The devil turned to see a nurse wanting to get by.

"So sorry." He took a step back, so she could walk past him and into the room. He slowly backed up from the room watching the nurse doing her hourly check.

Lucifer made his way to the nearby chairs and sat down. His head fell into his hands as he hunched over in the chair. His eyes closed as he contemplated why it was so hard from him to walk in the room. It was a seemingly simple task, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. To see his detective so fragile.

The man quickly opened his eyes when he felt a sudden weight on his shoulder. He looked over to see the detective's daughter resting her head on him. "Trix, what are you doing?" He looked around the room and didn't see any sign of Dan "Where is your father?" He gentle pushed the girl off his arm and sat up in the chair.

"He went home to pick up clean clothes." The girl looked up at him with her big brown eyes.

"Who is watching you?" He asked, looking for another adult to take care of the child. He was in no state to be babysitter at this moment. Or any other time.

"I'm twelve, I don't need someone to watch me all the time." The child rolled her eyes."Besides, I'm not alone. You're here." The child slouched in the seat beside the devil and anxiously picked at her nails. "You don't like hospitals, do you?" She asked after a moment of silence.

"No. Not particularly." He replied.

"Me neither." The child rested her head on the man's shoulder once more, even though she knew it made him uncomfortable. This time he didn't shrug her off. "Every time I'm here, it's because someone has tried to hurt my mom or dad. But not like this. This scares me."

"This scares me too." The man's voice was barely audible.

"You get scared?" Trixie looked up to the man with wonderment.

"I do." He gave her a weak smile.

"What's it like?"

"To be scared?" The man was confused with the question.

"No. Hell?" The child asked casually. "That's where you've been for the last couple of months, right?"

"Yes, but…" Lucifer looked around to see if anyone was around to heard the question. "How did you know?"

"I wasn't born yesterday. I know you're the devil." Trixie stated plainly. "Plus, I heard mom talking to Maze about it when they thought I was sleeping."

"Oh." The man was surprised.

"So, what's it like? It is scary?" The child was curious.

"It can be, for some. But it's mostly unpleasant. For me, anyway." The devil paused for a moment. "No one to talk to except the condemned souls and demons, but they mostly just complain about the heat." He attempted to lighten the mood. "Plus, no game nights with my favourite people."

"Sounds lonely." There was sadness in the child's eyes.

"It is." Lucifer let out a sigh. He watched the child as her mind was searching for what to say next. He could tell that behind her eyes was worry. Something a child her age should never have to be, but somehow she has been worried for most of her life since her parents both work in a dangerous profession.

"You have the power to save my mom, right?" Trixie's eyes were on the door to her mom's room.

"No. I don't. But I wish I did." The devil replied, he knew it wasn't the answer the child wanted to hear.

"But you can talk to God. He can do it. He performs miracles every day." She turned her body toward the man and sat on the edge of the chair. There was desperation in her eyes.

"My father and I haven't been on speaking terms for quite some time now." Lucifer admitted to the child.

"But your still his son, right? He has to listen to you. Please, just try." The little girl begged.

"I'm sorry, Trixie." He hated to disappoint her. He had already talked to his father and, like always, there was no reply.

"There has to be way though. This can't…" Tears welled up in the child's eyes. "I can't lose my mom. Not now."

"I know, I don't want to lose her either." Lucifer wrapped his arm around the child and pulled her in close. "Listen, these doctors are doing everything they can and I'm sure she is going to be just fine." He wasn't sure if he was trying convince the child or himself.

"But what if she isn't?" The little girl looked up at the man, silent tears started to roll down her cheek.

"We will cross that bridge, if it comes." Lucifer voice shook as he spoke. The child buried her face in his chest. Lucifer looked up and saw Daniel walking towards them with a pink backpack in his hand.

"Lucifer." The detective's ex-husband greeted the devil when he approached them.

"Detective Espinoza." He returned the greeting and gave him a sympatric head nodded. The last time they had seen each other it wasn't a pleasant interaction but considering the present situation they both made the choice to be civil, at least for the moment.

"Trixie, I brought your things. Let's get you freshen up." The father gave the child a weak smile. The girl slowly stood up and grabbed her backpack. As they walked down the hall toward the bathroom, the child looked back at Lucifer and gave him a sad smile.

Lucifer stood up at walked to the detective's room. He peered inside for a moment before he turned to leave. He made his down to the main floor and out main doors. His phone began to ring just as he held the door open for a gentleman carrying a rather large bouquet of flower. The man could barely see where he was going as he entered the hospital. Lucifer answered the phone as he watched the man walk by, his face looked vaguely familiar.

"Lucifer, where are you?" The woman on the phone asked, there was panic in her voice.

"Just leaving the hospital. Why? What's wrong?" The man asked, he matched the panic tone of the scientist. He step outside of the hospital when he realized he was still holding the door open.

"I found out about the other brother, Anthony. It was tricky because he changed his name but he was killed in prison not to long ago. Chloe was the arresting officer. Which means…"

"Leeds intended on killing the detective." Lucifer finished the woman's sentence. Adrenaline returned to his body after his realization of why he recognized the bouquet man. He turned around and rushed back into the hospital.

"Do you think he will finish the job?" Ella asked, her voice trembling.

"I think he might." Lucifer saw the man with the bouquet enter the elevator. "I have to go."

"Wait, what is …" The man hung up the phone as he bolted towards the elevator, but it had already closed.

"Shit." The man banged on the elevator doors. Visitors passing by nervously looked at him and veered out of his way as he raced towards the stairwell. Taking the steps two at a time on his way up. He bumped into a woman, who was helping an elderly man take his steps one at a time. "Excuse me." He barked impatiently. The woman gave him a cold glare before she stepped aside.

When he reached the detective's floor, his eyes darted towards her room just as he watched the man entered her room and closed the door behind. Lucifer didn't waste time and hurtled towards Chloe's room, dodging the nurse on his way.

"Hey! Slow down. This is a hospital." She called out to him, but she was ignored. "Security!"

Lucifer barged into the room and there stood Andrew Leeds hovering above the detective, a knife in his hands. Without even thinking, Lucifer charged forward and pulled the man away from the detective and held the man in the air by the collar. "WHY?" Lucifer growled at the man, his eyes flashed red. "Why did you hurt her?" He didn't even give him time to answer. Lucifer pinned the man against the wall. Fist smashing into the sniper's face repeatedly.

"Lucifer!" Daniel called out from the doorway, he rushed into the room and attempted to pull the two men apart, but Lucifer didn't let up. "Lucifer! Stop." Dan grab hold of the devil's arm with both of his hand but was met with a glare.

Lucifer paused when noticed the child behind Dan, her hand's covering her mouth as she watched the scene unfold. Fear in her eyes. He slowly lowered Andrew and handed the man over to Detective Espinoza. Lucifer watched as Daniel was quick to handcuff the assailant, whose face was bashed in, when they both noticed blood on the knife that had fallen to the floor. Espinoza looked up at Lucifer with a worried expression. "Chloe?"

The devil was instantly at the detective bedside. He scanned the woman for any signs of stab wounds but there was none. "She's unharmed." He sighed with relief looking back at Dan. The officer escorted the sniper out of the room.

"You're safe now." Lucifer whispered, He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. Slowly, he reached out, barely touching her cheek with his unsteady hand. Afraid he might hurt her. He could feel the heat radiate from the wound on the side of her face. His thumb caressed her bottom lip, before kissed the corner of her mouth. Lucifer closed his eyes to stop the tears.

"She's okay?" A little voice asked. He looked up to see the child on the other side of the bed and nodded his head. He watched as Trixie's eyes changed from worried to panicked. "Lucifer." Trixie gasped. "You're hurt." She pointed towards his torso. Lucifer look down and notice blood oozing for him side, colouring his white shirt red. He let out a little chuckle. "I'll get help." Child ran out of the room. When she returned moments later with a nurse, but he was already gone.

"He couldn't have gotten far." The nurse left the room in hurry to search the wounded man.

Trixie was about to leave when she noticed a white feather on the floor next to a few drops of blood. She slow bent down and picked up the long feather. The child stood beside her mother bed and gently brushed the feather along her mother's cheek. Trixie dropped the feather as it dissolved into a blinding light. She stepped back and stared in wonderment, the burnt flesh had disappeared. She let out a nervous chuckle and looked up to the heavens. "Thank you!" The child whispered.
