Lucifer's heart pounded in his chest as he took each step closer to the Detective's room. He glanced over to the cluster of chairs in the waiting room and saw that his brother had successfully lured Dan out of the room to have one of his heart to heart chats. Dan's brain was already fried enough with everything going on, and there was no need to add witnessing a divine healing to the list. The end result was going to be hard enough for him to handle.

Lucifer stopped in front of a familiar officer who was guarding the Detective's door. The officer scanned the man up and down, pausing for a moment to give him a suspicious glare before she moved out of the way, granting him access to the room. He was surprised that she hadn't frisked him to see if he was carrying a weapon, considering the latest event that was still fresh in everyone's mind. Lucifer started to open the door slowly, but it barely moved an inch before it stopped abruptly, as Maze quickly peeked through the crack to see the visitor. When the demon realized who it was, she opened the door just enough to let him in.

Lucifer stopped just inside the room; his legs frozen, unable to take another step forward. His eyes immediately went to the woman lying still on the bed. She looked so peaceful. Linda was standing beside the bed with a feather in her hand; the therapist looked up at Lucifer when he entered the room. "This is absolutely crazy, you know that, right?" She let out a nervous laugh.

"I know." He gave her a weak smile. Lucifer had asked Linda to perform the task because she was a doctor; ignoring the many times that she'd corrected him by saying that she wasn't that kind of doctor, but she was the only person he trusted to do this.

"The first time I… with the… then she… the light and everything…" The doctor was unable to form a proper sentence as she waved the feather around maniacally. "When Maze told me the plan, well, I didn't know what to expect, but… wow. Healing powers. Actual healing powers. After having an angel's baby, I thought nothing could ever surprise me any more, but no, they just keep on coming. What's next? Will I finally meet my son's Grandpa?"

"Doctor." Lucifer attempted to snap the woman out of her ramble.

"Maybe this was a bad idea." Maze, who was still standing beside the Devil, muttered in his ear.

"Don't be ridiculous; the doctor is more than capable," Lucifer scoffed.

"Actual healing powers," the doctor repeated, ignoring the others. "Do they just heal external wounds? Or can they work on the common cold? What about cancer? Can you cure cancer? That would be amazing. I mean, think about the possibilities. Think about how many lives could be saved with feathers. Angel feathers." The woman paced the room, feather still waving in the air.

"Dr. Martin, please," Lucifer called out to the woman, without success.

"Why don't you do it?" Maze asked, turning towards the man. She folded her arms across her chest as she waited for a reply.

"Me? I… I can't… No." The Devil stuttered at the question, and he didn't want to explain why at this moment. "Excuse me." He forced his feet to move forward towards the frantic woman.

"Wait." Linda stopped in her tracks. "How are we going to explain this? No one is going to actually believe what happened. What are we going do? What do we say? What will the doctors…"

Lucifer grabbed hold of the woman and turned her to face him. "Please focus, Doctor. We need to do this, and I don't know how much time we have before they come to check on her. Okay? So, please."

"Right. Sorry. I just… You're right." The woman nodded her head. "I mean, it's still crazy."

"I know." Lucifer sighed impatiently.

"But I can do this. It's perfectly fine." Linda composed herself quickly before turning her attention back to the Detective.

"Fantastic. Thank you." Lucifer took a step back.

The room was silent, apart from the heart monitor that beeped steadily, and the doctor muttering to herself. Maze stood beside her to assist with whatever Linda needed. The doctor gently removed the bandage from Chloe's arm and placed the feather on the scarred skin. The feather dissolved in a bright light, healing the damaged skin. The doctor then placed the bandage back on the healed arm, and made her way to the other side to do the same thing.

Lucifer realized that he was holding his breath as he watched. He glanced over at the child who sat at the bedside holding her mother's hand, her head turned away to avoid glancing at the marred skin. Lucifer decided to follow suit, and made his way to the opposite side of the bed and sat on the edge of the seat. His hand reached out for Chloe's and he brought it up to his mouth for a kiss. His head rested on the bed and he waited. Waited to see what would happen. He even thought about praying to his Dad.

Instead, memories of the Detective flashed before his eyes like a silent film. Every moment that they had been through together. The good and bad. They had overcome so many obstacles. Forces beyond their control constantly driving a wedge between them. Yet they always returned to each other, their feelings for each other more intense then before. He had never had a connection with any other being like he did with her. He had lived his whole life, since the beginning of time, not having a care in the world. He lived for himself and himself only.

That was until Chloe entered into his world. She was the only thing that had mattered after that. She was the only person that he had ever cared for, above his own well-being. Every minute that had passed after he'd returned to Hell, she was always on his mind. "Please don't go. I… I love you. I love you. Please don't leave." Her last words still echoed in his mind. No one had ever loved him. Not the way she did.

Lucifer's head popped up when he felt her hand tighten around his. She was finally coming around. He watched as Chloe began to stir from her deep sleep. For the first time in the last thousand years, the feeling of hope filled his heart.

"It worked. It actually worked." Linda was pleasantly surprised.

Chloe's eyes slowly opened but her face immediately contorted into terror. Lucifer saw the confusion behind her sea blue eyes as she scanned the unfamiliar room. She quickly pulled her hand away from Lucifer's and grasped at her throat, coughing in attempt to free herself from the uncomfortable tube in her mouth that was causing her to gag. The beep on the monitor quickened as her panic increased. Lucifer looked across the bed to Trixie who was standing up, her arms wrapped around Maze but her eyes still on her mother.

"Could someone…" Lucifer began. He looked over his shoulder only to realize that the door was already open, and that Linda had gone for help. His attention was back on the Detective. "It's okay," he whispered. He stood up, his hands gently brushing the side of her face in an attempt to calm the woman. "Chloe, look at me. Everything is going to be fine."

Hearing his voice, her frightened eyes met his and her body gradually relaxed. The heart rate monitor returned to a normal, steady beat.

"Hello, Detective." He gave her one of his cheeky smiles. Her fingers wrapped around his forearm and tears filled her eyes as she gazed on the man she had longed to see. "Everything is going to be fine." His voice was barely audible as he held back his own tears. "You're safe." He leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"Mommy!" Trixie called out as she reached for her mom's hand. Chloe turned her head towards her daughter and gave the little a hand a loving squeeze.

"What happened?" Dan had rushed in with Amenadiel close behind him.

"She's awake," Trixie shouted with glee, waving her father over to join her.

"What?" Dan rushed to his daughter's side, clasping his hands around Chloe's and Trixie's. His eyes lit up with joy to see that the mother of his child was finally coming around.

Chloe's doctor entered the room with a nurse and Linda behind him. He stopped at the door and looked at how crowded the room had become. "Family only, please. Everyone else, please give her some space."

The visitors made their way out of the room. All except Lucifer, who was holding on to Chloe's hand. He didn't want to go. "Excuse me, sir." The doctor approached the Devil. "We will only be a few minutes."

"Of course." Lucifer let out a sigh. "See you soon, Detective." Lucifer turned to leave, letting go of her hand, but she held tightly to his. He turned to see that Chloe was shaking her head, wanting him to stay.

"Please, can he stay?" Trixie spoke up, giving her best puppy dog eyes to the doctor.

"Sure, why not," the doctor agreed with a smile. "I'll just need some space."

"I'll just be over here," he told Chloe, who loosened her grip on his hand after a thankful squeeze. The Devil made his way to the foot of the bed, anxiously waiting for the moment when they all realized that she was healed. Her eyes remained on him while the doctor pulled out a stethoscope and began his examination. He asked her several yes or no questions as he went along, going off of her non-verbal cues.

Then the doctor paused for a moment. The people in the room waited for him to say something. Anything. "This… this isn't possible. I never…" The doctor was baffled as he looked up at Dan across the bed and then back at Lucifer, who was trying to act nonchalant. "I don't understand."

"What is it?" Dan asked with a worried tone.

"She seems to be perfectly fine." The doctor carefully removed one of her bandages, revealing smooth skin. "This doesn't make any sense."

"Just like…" Dan was stunned and unable to finish his sentence. "How?"

"I don't know." The doctor looked back at the nurse, looking for answers, but she was just as clueless as he was.

"Maybe it's a miracle," Trixie chimed in, her eyes on Lucifer with a sly smile.

"Yeah, Hun. Maybe." Dan noticed his daughter glance towards the man at the end of the bed. As tired and confused as he was, the officer had a feeling that there was something going on between Lucifer and his daughter. This was the second time this phenomenon had happened, and both times they were in the room right before.

"A miracle? I guess. I…" The doctor was struggling with his knowledge of science and what appeared to be a supernatural occurrence. "Well, I guess we can remove the ventilator."

While the doctor and nurse were setting up to extubate the detective, Daniel walked over to Lucifer and pulled him aside. "What do you know about this? Did you…?" He looked over his shoulder to make sure no one could hear him. "Did you do this?" Lucifer nodded his head slightly; he had never lied before, and he wasn't about to start now. "How? What are you?"

"Listen, Daniel, it's not easy to explain but…" The Devil wasn't able to finish his explanation, as the man pulled him into a tight embrace.

"I don't care right now." The officer's emotions were getting the best of him. "Thank you, man! Thank you." Lucifer accepted the hug, even if it made him uncomfortable. This was the last thing he'd expected to receive. The man barely tolerated him.

Both men turned around to watch as the doctor instructed Chloe to give him a big cough as he pulled the tube out of her mouth. The nurse quickly a used a suction tube to remove excess debris that had collected in the woman's throat, as the detective went into a coughing fit. She then inserted the oxygen tubes in her nose.

"I'll find some ice chips." Dan stated with sudden burst of energy, and he quickly left the room.

"It might hurt to talk for the first little while, so just whispers for now," the doctor instructed, once Chloe's coughing had subsided. "I'm just going to ask a few simple questions, okay?" The woman nodded her head. "Great. What is your name?"

"Chloe Decker." The woman's voice was barely audible.

"Good. Who is this little one?" He pointed at child beside her.

"My little Monkey, Trixie." Chloe smiled, squeezing her daughter's hand.

"Do you know who that man is?" He indicated Lucifer standing at the foot of the bed.

"Some handsome devil," Chloe joked before she started coughing again, but it didn't last long.

"She's not wrong." Lucifer smiled. The doctor looked at him for confirmation, not knowing who he was.

"Lucifer," the woman added.

"What year is it?"

"2019," Chloe answered confidently.

"Excellent. Well, I would still like to run some tests to see what is going on, but for the time being, I think you are in very capable hands." The doctor looked between the child and the man. "The nurse will come for you when we are ready."

"Thank you." The woman smiled. The doctor gave her a slight nod before he turned to leave, the nurse following behind.

Lucifer started to walk around the bed when Dan brushed passed him with two glasses filled with ice chips. and handed one of them to his ex-wife. "Do you need anything else?" Dan asked.

"I'm fine." Chloe whispered, her eyes flicking to Lucifer. "Thank you."

"I came as soon as I heard." Ella burst into the room. "Can you believe it?" She was by Lucifer's side as she gave him an excited side hug. "Chloe, I miss you so much. I'm so glad you're okay."

"How long has it been?" The detective asked, concerned about how much time had passed.

"Two days. But it has been a long two days," the forensic scientist informed the woman. "It was not the same without you." Chloe gave her a warm smile.

"Detective Decker." Lucifer's body tightened when he heard the familiar voice come from behind him. "So glad to see you are on the mend." Lieutenant Ross made his way into the room and passed him.

"Excuse me, I need to step out for some air," Lucifer stated. All eyes went to him.

"Don't go," Chloe hoarse voice pleaded.

"I won't be long. I'll be back." Lucifer promised with a soft smile. The Devil turned and left the crowded room. He wanted some time alone with the Detective, but now was not going to be that time.

"Hey, Lucifer." Dan ran after him. The Devil stopped when the man stood in front of him. "I just wanted to say sorry about earlier. I just…"

"It's all right." Lucifer gave Dan a weak grin. "It's already forgotten."

"Look, I don't know what to think just yet. There's always been something about you that doesn't make sense to me, and I don't know if it ever will. Frankly, it scares me." Dan was shaking with adrenaline. "But whatever you are, you did save Chloe. I will never forget that." The detective paused for a moment. Lucifer started to walk away when Dan called out, "I'll talk to MacCallum, about what happened. That you had no choice."

Lucifer paused to look over his shoulder. "Thank you, Daniel."
