"There's was another bloodstain not very far from here," Chole informed Lucifer leading the way to the car parked on the street. "Dan just got off the phone with dispatch letting him know that this is not an isolated incident. Which we know because we know what it is, but we can't say anything because they will think we are crazy." Chloe rambled as she walked. Frustrated, she stopped suddenly and turned to Devil. "What is happening? Why are they here again?" There was panic in her voice. The nauseousness was gradually growing in her stomach with each passing moment. "I thought you took care of them." Seeing the helpless look in his eyes made her regret her choice of words.
Lucifer stared at the woman in silence. Unable to say anything to her. All he ever wanted was to shelter her from his dark, torturous world. To keep her safe. But at this moment, he knew it was time to tell her, even if he didn't want to. The detective's pleading eyes pierced through him, waiting for him to speak.
"'Lucifer, please! Let me in. Let me help you." Chloe's voice cracked as she begged.
"I don't know why they are here." Lucifer's voice was barely over a whisper. "But I have a good guess that it is about me." The words tasted like ash in his mouth as he spoke.
"Why?" Even though she had an idea of why they wanted Lucifer from her conversation the night before with Maze, a part of her was hoping that it was a lie and she needed to hear it from Lucifer himself.
"The 'why' doesn't matter. Right now, we just need to find them and force the bastards back to Hell." Lucifer started moving towards the car and reached for the passenger door handle.
"Lucifer, why are they looking for you?" Chole demanded; she stepped in front of him, blocking him from opening the door. Her eyes scanning his face. Avoiding her gaze, Lucifer looked down at his shoes in an attempt to delay the inevitable. "Lucif...Lucifer..." She was fighting back the tears threatening to break through. "Why are the demons trying to...to kill you?" Lucifer quickly found her eyes, his heart shank when she said the words. "Lucifer, please talk to me. Why won't you talk to me?" A tear rolled down her cheek.
"I wanted to protect you from... it's...what is happening in Hell is not something I wanted you to worry about. You have many responsibilities, and I didn't want to burden you with my personal battles." The Devil admitted.
"Are we not still partners?" Chloe sniffled. "We can help each other; that's what partners do."
"Your right; we are partners, and I should have told you. I was scared to tell you. But I will. I don't know their full intentions, but they seem rather keen on destroying my life at any chance they get. An uprising. A bloody mutiny." Lucifer let out a frustrated sigh as he finally voiced the words that have been swimming around in his head since his return to Hell. "Ironic isn't it. My own demons rebelling against me with intent to punish me for abandoning them while I was here, on earth."
"Right...I don't know how..." Chloe folded her arms across her chest for a moment, but they soon dropped to her side in frustration. "How are we going to deal with this?" She let out a puff of air. "We've...you've done it once before. I can't be that hard, right? You're their King, after all, right? They have to listen to you. You can make them listen, can't you?" She attempted to convince herself, but even Chloe didn't believe that the situation at hand wasn't going to be a simple fix.
"I may be their King, but in their eyes, I'm the tyrant that never lets them have any fun." Lucifer's jaw clenched. "I'm not sure that it will be as easy as summoning them back to Hell this time around." Lucifer took Chloe's hands into his own. "But I will do whatever it takes to ensure your safety. And the safety of every human." His fingers brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear and pulled her in for a kiss. He knew time wasn't on their side, but he needed strength from her to continue. "We need to find them and end their torment once in for all."
"What about your safety?" Chloe breathed, her arms wrapped around his waist and held him close. She didn't want to let him go.
"My safety doesn't matter," Lucifer whispered.
"Of course it does." The detective looks up at his handsome face. He returned her loving words with a soft smile. "So, where can we find them?" Chloe asked, finally releasing him from her embrace. Her hand still rested on his chest.
"I don't know, but I'm sure they will be looking for me. So, probably LUX." Lucifer looked over at the car, knowing very well that they were a good hour or so drive away from the club with no traffic, which never happens in LA. He extended his hand out. "Care for a ride?"
"You brought the corvette?" Chloe was confused; she looked around for the black convertible.
"Air travel is much quicker." Lucifer smiled as he scooped her up in his arms. Her arms immediately wrap around his neck. Lucifer gives her a tight squeeze to reassure her that everything was going to be just fine. The former angel's wing unfurled, and he took off into the sky.
With a smooth landing onto the penthouse balcony, Lucifer gently lowered Chloe's legs until her feet touched the floor. Her arms slowly glided along the side of his neck until her hand cupped his face. Her breath was unsteady from the excitement of the flight. Her mind was consumed entirely by him, forgetting about the danger of the demons from Hell for a moment. Her eyes found his, gradually, her mouth moved up, and she touched his lips for the second time that morning. The detective's fingertips grazed down his neck and over his collar bone until she reached the first button of his shirt.
"Chloe..." Lucifer's hand cupped hers, stopping her. For so long, he wanted to have this intimate moment with her that he couldn't believe that he was preventing it from happening. " The demons. We can't..."
"We don't know what is going to happen today. We might not get another chance." Chloe's thumb traced his lips. "The demons are going to have to wait." Lucifer instantly pulled her in for another kiss, knowing very well that she was right. Chloe continued to undo the buttons of his dress shirt. Her hands pushed the jacket and shirt off his shoulders.
Lucifer lifted the detective off her feet, her legs immediately wrapped around his waist as she walked her over to the bed. "Are you sure?" He breathed, lowering her onto the bed. She just nodded her head, biting her lower lip, and proceeded to unbutton his pants.
The moment he had been waiting for five years, something he didn't think would ever happen did. Chloe's head rested on his bare chest as her finger traced imaginary swirls on his stomach. His arm wrapped around her naked body, his fingers playing with her hair. "That was..." He was lost for words.
"Incredible." She finished his sentence and looked up at him with a cheeky smile, and moved in to kiss him. "I wish we could freeze time and stay like this forever."
"Me too." He gave her a week smile, knowing that their time was fleeting.
They both sat up in bed when they heard the flapping of wings, and standing at the foot of the bed was Amenadial with Charlie strapped to his chest. Chloe quickly pulled the sheet up to her neck, her cheeks matching the red silk.
"Really? Demons are roaming around, and this is what you decide to do." The angel rolled his eyes.
"Well, it very well may be my last day on earth. Wanted to make the most of it." Lucifer looked over at Chloe, who was heartbroken by his words. "It was wonderful until you rudely interrupted."
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." Amenadial smiled. "I think I found a way to keep the demons contained."
"Lead with that next time." Lucifer stood up and fetched his robe that was neatly folded on a nearby chair. "What is it?"
"After we spoke, I recalled something that I read in the Ancient Sumanrien Book. You know, that one we found about the key for Azrael's blade."
"Yes, yes. Get to the point, will you." Lucifer was growing impatient.
"The Sumanrien's talked about a binding spell that could trap a demon. There is a ritual that needs to be performed that will prevent the demons from coming or going. So if you completed the ritual on the gates of Hell, maybe they would be contained?"
"That's it? Some voodoo ritual, and that's it. The little bastard will be trapped." Lucifer laughed in disbelief as he poured himself a drink that was on the nightstand. "You have been watching way too much CW, my dear brother. Is that what the Winchester brothers do?"
"Lucifer, stop." Chloe stood up with the sheet wrapped around her. Her arm pulled him into a side hug and looked up at him. "Just listen."
"Okay," He let out an annoyed sigh. "Say this little plan of yours works; what happens afterwards. Is everyone trapped behind the door or just the soulless? The damned souls enter Hell for their punishment, or do they get away scot-free. What about me? Can I leave? Hmm."
"I don't know, Luci, the book doesn't say." Amenadial looks down at Charlie, who is starting to stir from his sleep.
"Well, that's just great." Lucifer sat down in the chair and took a sip of his drink.
"Lucifer, maybe you should try it out." Chloe sat back down on the bed opposite the Devil. "What other options do we have?" Lucifer nodded his head in agreement.
"I tired; that was all I could find," Amenadial replied; the baby was starting to fuss in his carrier. "I have to get Charlie back to Linda, but I wrote down what you need to do." The angel handed his brother a journal. "I hope this helps."
"Thank you, brother." Lucifer stood up and took the journal. Lucifer was about to hug his brother when he was turned off by the crying baby.
"Good Luck, brother." Amenadial patted Lucifer on the shoulder before he flew off.
"Now that he is gone, where were we?" Lucifer turned toward Chloe and dropped his robe to the ground.
"Lucifer," Chloe smiled, distracted by his body. "As much as I would like to have sex again." She bit her lower lip. "You have no idea, but I think we delayed long enough. We need..."
"...to have sex again. I agree." Lucifer advanced toward Chloe on the bed and kissed her on the lips. She was melting with his every touch, distracted from what she was trying to say. Chloe fell back onto the bed and allow Lucifer to climb on top.
"Lucifer, we have to..." She tried to speak, but he felt so good on top of her.
"I hope we are not interrupting." An unfamiliar voice spoke.
"I need to lock that elevator." Lucifer sighed with annoyance and looked over his shoulder. Lucifer's heart stopped as he turned over, his body protecting Chloe. She sat up behind him and looked over his shoulders. Over a dozen men and women stagged in the penthouse looking into the elevated bedroom. The one closest to them was the victim from the morning case.
"See Detective. I told you that they were looking for me."
