Chapter 564.
"Working Project."
(The Loud House.)
Now we see Luna's car has arrived, and the teen rocker gets out alongside her little brother Lincoln and his partner for this Friday's project, Liam. They then head to the trunk and open what they brought to the house.
"Alright, so all we gots to do is make them sliced caramel apples and the whole thing is gonna be a ding dang done deal" said Liam. They all begin to get the apples, and the barrel of caramel.
Luna carries one barrel of caramel and Lincoln has one crate of apples, but then they see Liam carrying one barrel of caramel and one box of apples, and the dup are shocked by this. But then it makes sense why he's that strong.
Then someone else comes out of the house. "Whoa! Looks like you guys could use some extra muscle!" Lynn goes to the trunk and grabs the same thing as Liam and they walk towards the house. "So, where are we taking this stuff?"
"To the backyard, I don't think the kitchen is the best idea for doing this" replied Lincoln. They head to the backyard and there they see the twins, and Luan along with the two eagles and they spot Lincoln, Liam, Luna and Lynn and what they're hauling.
"Apples?" then Lola notices. "Caramel?!"
But then Luan grabs her. "Lola, stop. This isn't for us, this is for their project." Lana goes over and sees the barrel, and she has a crowbar and she helps open it and they see the caramel within.
"Whoa! It looks all gooey and sticky!"
Liam smirks. "Well, this here caramel is something my memaw makes, and she usually has it sold to another part of Saginaw, but she let me take a few barrels so we can make the project, and it all comes down with the farm fresh apples."
Lincoln and Luna open the crate and they look inside and see the fresh apples, Lola grabs one, but then Lynn takes the fruit. "Not this time, Lols. Leave the products be."
Then Luna takes the apple from her. "Yeah, same with you sis." But then something comes into her thoughts. "Hold up a sec, how come you two aren't doing this at the farm."
Liam looks nervous, and so he tells them. "Well, as of lately something has been stirring in the farm and seems to be lured by apples. We don't know what it is, but we're not letting them come at the fruit. Which is also why my pa is letting all the other apples be in them giant storages from Rose shipping company."
Lincoln is surprised. "Huh, well that makes sense. So, we should get to make these fresh caramel apple slices." But deep down he is confused. 'What the heck is going after the apples at the farm? Bats?' Lincoln then sees Michelle Lewis come out from the garage and she has a large black pot, and Lucy is with her.
"Thank goodness I found Great Grandma Harriet's old pot, which she used long ago for brewing stuff" replied Lucy. That had them concerned.
"That thing ain't contaminated is it?" asked Liam.
"Nope. Luce and I took the privilege of cleaning this dang thing, and I question why it was even buried" said Michelle.
Lola sees the others are busy setting up the large pot and so she goes over and she touches the caramel so she could get a taste, but her hand is stuck. "Okay, what?!"
They all see this and go to her. Liam sighs. "See, this is why no one should be touching this thing. It's hardened and so we need to reheat them."
Luan manages to get Lola off. "So, why are they sticky and not like the usual caramel?"
Liam goes over and he uses a large spoon that seems sharp on the sides. "This here Caramel has been kept in storage and has never ever gotten into the bad side of the stale." He uses the large spoon and pulls out a large chunk of the caramel. "I don't know how my memaw makes 'em last, but this sure is mighty fine."
"The side effect is that this here becomes hardened, but not too solid to the point of rock and stone. More like solid enough to act like them liquid for them dinosaurs who got stuck."
Hearing that confused them, then Lincoln understands what he means. "Oh, Sap, or Amber. Is that right?"
"No clue." Liam then goes over and helps with the firewood, and they begin to place the pot on top and they light up the fire. They watch as Liam uses the large spoon, and there is another one for Lincoln to use and he takes a large piece of caramel and he places it into the pot.
"Why not yank it all into the pot?" asked Lynn as she takes the barrel, but Liam stops her.
"Best not do that, Lynn. We put this all in, and the whole thing will bubble, boil and possibly blow up." They all remain silent. "Well, that's what my memaw said, but she wants me to do it a few chunks at a time."
Luan then goes over. "So, what can we do?"
"Well, while we're doing this. We could use some help in slicing the apples" replied Lincoln. He goes over to the barrel and grabs another chunk of caramel and puts it into the pot. Lucy then grabs a large ladle and she mixes the whole thing.
Luan, Luna and Michelle grab a table and some knives and a crate of apples and they see tons of them. "I really don't know how my ride hauled this stuff" said Luna. They girls begin to slice the apples, and the rest watch on as this happens.
The twins grab some of the apples and helps put them in one spot to be picked up and sliced, and Lana takes the apple cores and she puts them into a bag. I honestly don't know what she plans with them. While the eagles watch over from the watch tower for anyone coming.
Luan stops slicing and she looks to Lincoln and Liam doing their own thing. "So, why not team up with Jordan?"
Lincoln stops and wipes the sweat from his brow. "Well, Jordan is gonna partner up with Hope Pertland, and she said that they have something big planned out. I honestly don't know what it is, but I know it's gonna be great."
As they continue their work, Liam then recalls. "Funny you should mention about Hope, because earlier today my pa got a call to deliver a lot of barrels of olives and mushrooms to the Pertland house. I don't know what she wants with them."
Now they're confused. What would Hope Pertland want with lots of olives and mushrooms?
Just then, the backdoor opens and coming are Lisa, Leni and in her arms is Lily. "Hi, guys. Looks like everything is doing okay here" said Leni. She lets Lily walk towards them and then Liam let's her have one apple slice.
"We just gotta make sure the caramel is nice and liquefied and such, that we can be able to dip them slices and make this thing one big success."
Lisa looks to the group slicing apples. "Perhaps I could be able to make something that could speed this up faster, or I could adjust Lulu to assist."
Lincoln smirks and he goes over and helps Lucy stir the pot. "No thanks Lis, we're all good here. We wanna do this with just some good old hard work, and nothing fancy."
Leni then recalls something. "Oh, right. Jordan's mom made a big grocery run, and with Jordan tagging along. They were getting a lot of flour for some reason."
They all stop, and this has them super confused. "Whoa what? Why the heck would the Rosato's want so much flour?" asked Lynn. She lifts one of the empty crates and puts then in the corner.
"Easy with them crates, Lynn" said Liam. "My folks want those things to be reused and such, and nobody clean them either."
"Well, let's keep this up and finish what we have planned for tomorrow." Lincoln then recalls something and asks Liam. "Also, if we are done, where the heck do we put all the caramel apples?"
Liam thinks about this. "Now that one we didn't plan on, we'll have to figure that out when the time comes." He then grabs another barrel of sticky caramel and then he goes over and checks the pot. "Now this looks ready. Let's gather them apple slices and let me show you how we dip them in."
Liam then pulls something from an extra crate, and they see this metal pole with hooks on it, and they can see what he means. "Wow. Now that is one smart move dude" said Luna.
They watch as Liam hooks each slice of apple and then Luna and Lynn grab the ends of the pole, and with all ten hooks with apple slices, they go over to the pot and they dip the apples in. "Now we wait for ten seconds, and then we can get them out" said Liam.
Lisa then recalls. "We can make this move along faster. I recall there are some old fishing hooks that were no longer used, along with some old metal poles that I was planning for something big."
"Let's get to it. I know where they are!" Lana along with Lisa head to the garage and with Leni and Michelle following, and luckily they finished slicing a lot of apples, and all thanks to Luan. She seemed fast when she sliced them, she is gifted in cooking like her dad.
They continue the process of dipping the apple slices into the caramel dip, and Lola goes to the table and she uses the tooth picks and places one on each of the caramel apple slices, and soon Lisa, Lana, Michelle and Leni come back with the same kind of poles with hooks. "Whoa. When were those made?" asked Lynn.
Lana chuckles nervously. "Yeah, umm. I was planning this when dad goes fishing. So, I guess the jig is up."
"Huh." They spot Lynn Sr coming out from the kitchen. "So that's where the old hooks went. Well, I'm not so sure about having those kinds of tools for fishing, but we can deal with that next time. Need some help?"
"Sure, you can help add the finishing touches to the caramel apple slices" said Lincoln. Lincoln goes to a crate and he opens it and they see some jars of honey. "Liam had this idea, to double dip the apple slices into honey next."
Hearing that has the Loud girls, Michelle and Lynn Sr surprised, and even the eagles. This also causes Butterfree to come out of hiding from the tree and see this. "Wow! Now that is what I like to call innovation!" said Lynn Sr. He takes a jar. "Let's do this thing!"
"And when you're done, I'd like to take a whole crates worth." they all see Mr. Grouse.
"Oh, well the apples and honey aren't from me, they're from my ma and pa, and my memaw" said Liam.
"Not that, you little youngin'!" said Mr. Grouse. "What I mean is the sliced apples in caramel and honey. So, how much for a crate of them?"
Lincoln and Liam look to each other and talk in private. Lynn smirks from this. "Reminds me of the many times I gotta do a football huddle with the team."
Then Lincoln and Liam go back to the old man. "Mr. Grouse, if you want one then you'll need to wait for tomorrow at the Royal Woods Middle School" replied Lincoln.
"We'll have you a crate ready" said Liam. "But you gotta be ready with the dough for it."
Mr. Grouse scoffs, but he then smirks. "Alright, alright. I get it. I'll leave you kids be. But when tomorrow hits, then I claim what I pre-ordered." The cantankerous old man goes back into his house.
Everyone else continues on with helping make the project that Lincoln and Liam plan to sell when tomorrow hits. Then Rita shows up and she sees the whole thing. "Wow. This is going great, and also looks delicious."
Rita then recalls something. "Oh, I spotted Jordan along with Hope, and both their moms headed back to their house, and Peter Harris with his pickup truck, and he seems to be hauling crates of bacon."
They all stop and are now confused and surprised. Lincoln is now deep in suspicion. 'Now what the heck are they planning?' But that reveal is for tomorrow.
While they continue with what they're doing, they don't notice Lana's Butterfree places some bits of honey that she collected onto the sliced caramel honey apples, and she flies back and forth and sneaks this new flavor. They don't know what is gonna happen when tomorrow hits.
To be continued…
