A pleasant melody, the rustling of the leaves against the branch of the trees reverberated through her piercing-adorned ears. The soft texture of the sleeping pad soothes her tired body, and the tent that she shared with Ultear and the comforter lying atop her was enough to keep her warm; the only thing that she wanted to do is to get lost in dreamland, but sleep won't just visit her for the night.

Her conversation with Meredy through the phone along with a certain hot hockey captain's name echoed in her mind like a broken record.

She turned to the other side wherein she could observe Ultear, her steady breathing signaled that she was sleeping like a rock with a facial mask and cucumber painted on her face. Her conversation with Meredy along with a certain gorgeous hockey captain's name echoed in her mind like a broken record.

Juvia sat up from her sleeping pad, fishing her coat inside her bag with the decision to walk around the prestigious public high school of Crocus. Her sandals hit against branches as she head out of the tent and into the school grounds, each step engaging a sound from the twigs, and branches as they screamed for their last breaths.

The insomniac lady found herself by the front yard of the school, jaded orbs glancing at the closed petals of the flowers, even these beautiful things had to tuck themselves in at night; hiding from the danger that lurks within the surface of the Earth.

She wandered around the campus with no certain direction in mind, like a traveler in another world, lost in the nocturnal beauty of the campus is enhanced by the celestial ceiling of stars and moon from above.

"No! Dad, listen. I have enough time to think about my course fucking thoroughly if that's what had your panties in a bunch," a faint whispering rang through her ears as she rounded the corner. On the staircase sat Gray, his broad back facing her as he cradled his phone in his ear, threading his long fingers on his already tousled raven mane.

The swim captain turned her back on the scene, deciding that she had enough lonesome journey for tonight as she fought the curiosity brewing in her mind to stay for a while and eavesdrop. Her sandals thumped against the broken bricks on the floor, emanating a groaning noise from the clay-based material.

"Juvia," her name escaped Gray's lips, introducing a bolt of electricity to travel down her spine as she halted in her steps.

Streaks of scarlet painted the blue-haired lady's cheeks, twirling around to face the man who had been free-rent living in her mind since the day that she met him. A vague hint of anger laced with frustration dancing behind those stormy irises of his tug at her heartstrings, her feet trod towards the available space beside him, resting on his side.

"It's not what it looks like," Juvia raised her palm to prove her point. She shook her head, her choice of words already had her on the edge of his wrath. "Juvia, she wasn't listening to your conversation on the phone. Her mom taught her not to eavesdrop," with utmost sincerity lingering in her gentle voice, she caged her legs inside her arms.

The storm brewing in his eyes hushed, "I know, it's just that I wasn't expecting to see you here," he masked his anger to his Dad with a calm tone, "My dad, uhm," he scratched his cheek with his forefinger as his brows met in a thin line, "He's just kinda checking up on me."

The gorgeous girl lay her head on her knees, staring up to meet his gaze, "Then, does Gray wants to talk about it?"

"Weren't you avoiding me?"

Juvia buried her face in her knees, she groaned, "Juvia wasn't! She's just confused. Promise you won't laugh at Juvia?" she raised her head, earning a nod from the boy, "Gray made Juvia feel shy."

A series of hearty chuckles escaped from Gray's lips, his childish laughter resonated through her ears like a sweet melody, producing a tickling sensation on her ears. She pouted, trying to mask the genuine smile creeping up her angelic face for the reason only known to her — she somehow lightened up his sour mood.

"Thanks, I needed that," the athlete spoke once his fit of laughter subsided, just the confirmation that she deserved. "You see, Dad may not or may have found out about my inquiries about this certain university course, and he just kinda went berserk."

"Juvia takes it that your dad doesn't like the study that you wanted to take, then?" her azure brows met in a straight line as a displeasing image of her old man flashed in her mind, she felt herself quivering in fear with that particular memory of her past.

"Who knows?" he fired back with a question, clearly not wanting to evaluate any further.

A reign of silence ruled the two, the only sound engulfing them were the sporadic singing of the birds and the high-pitched cries from the bats hanging from some trees.

Anguishing memories of vivid red danced in Juvia's mind like a film reel; of her antipathy to her unhinged excuse of a father, her mom's dreadful cries for help, the stream of blood, the drugs and weed in the corner of the prison her younger self believed as home — these painful flashbacks ignited the heinous flame that she had once abolished before.

Yearning, petrified, and vexed, the girl buried her troubled face in her soft knees, silent sobs breaking out from her mouth as she let herself break in front of a stranger.

Sympathetic, Gray's hand rested on her quivering shoulder, drawing her body close to him to at least keep her warm as she cried and cried like the pathetic image of her old self, enclosed in a hospital room with bandages and wires around her young body.

Gray didn't say any words, he stayed with her until her cries turned into a distant memory — a heartbreaking song.

Gray and Juvia, their hearts had been painted blue; like a mosaic, their hearts may have been broken into tiny fragments, but when tangled with each other, the cracked pieces fit together — beautiful and brand-new.
