Fallout: Kazuma the Road Warrior? XXIV

Shortly after Aqua had left, Darkness decided to make her departure to meet back up with Megumin, Chris and the others, but she didn't go alone as she was accompanied by Veronica, and Lily.
Taking the monorail to Camp McCarron, the ride was quite pleasant and a marvel to her, since this was one of those few standing pieces of pre-war technology that not only started working again, but also gave Darkness an idea as to how far ahead society will be in technological advances, even if from what Kazuma states to be nothing but fiction, and what isn't is at least 65 years old and obsolete.
Still, once at the main NCR military base, Darkness made her way to get herself acquainted as she ascended her way down to chat with Colonel Hsu.
"Excuse me, I was instructed to come here to chat with you if I was looking for work" said Darkness.
"You came to the right place, my name is Colonel Hsu and I'm in charge of Camp McCarron, and you being here is already helping. Now as for actual work, I don't suppose you know how to cook since there's urgent help needed out in the mess hall, other than that Lieutenant Boyd could use some help in interrogating a Centurion, something we rarely do" said Hsu.
"I'll look into it, though I don't suppose you've met my friends now, one is a courier woman with silver hair, and the other is a teenage girl wearing armor" said Darkness.
"You mean Chris the Courier and Megumin the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR, they were here, claiming to do some bounty hunting work for a few Fiends that's been giving us trouble" said Hsu.
"Thank you, I shall see if I can catch up to them" said Darkness as she made her way outside into the camps main barracks for the troops.
No matter what, Darkness had a lot of admiration for all of the young brave men and woman serving the NCR, on top of how organized they are, and how they use modern day weapons and technology.
Granted, it was nothing like their visit at the Hidden Bunker where the Brotherhood of Steel were based, but there's no denying to loyal patriotism within the ranks of the NCR.
"Darkness, over here" waved Chris as she, Megumin and the rest of their companions were meeting up together at long last.
"Chris, Megumin, everyone, it's good to meet you all again" said Darkness, "Likewise, so what's new" asked Chris.
"I figured you guys could use some help around here, and whatever the NCR needs" said Darkness, "Well you're not wrong, we've been doing some bounty missions with some success" said Chris as there was clearly something that wrong to what she said.
"You should've seen me, taking on the Fiends worst of the worst, and blowing them all to smithereens, and we still got one more, I call it a complete success" Megumin said happily.
"Sigh, the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR here decided the best course of action when killing these named bounties was blowing them to hell and back, when the requirement to be fully paid involved us bringing in their heads securely intact as possible" complained Boone.
"Now deary, when killing bad men always be careful with those explosives" said Lily as she lightly lectured Megumin, whom allowed it do to Lily spoiling her with Nuka-Cola.
"Yes Grandma" said Megumin sweetly as Boone could only sneer before spitting out his tobacco chew.
"So I take it you guys aren't going to be paid, that sucks" said Veronica, "Well no, it's not like they're not gonna pay us, I mean Chris was successful in securing the head of one Viola, while the same could be barely said on Driver Nephi and Cook-cook, more so on the latter" said Arcade.
"Well no use in standing here doing nothing, let's turn in our bounties and see who else could use our help" said Chris.
Once they turned in their bounties, the group quickly went back into the camps main building to discover and ask about other work.
"So it's settled, Megumin you along with Rex, Lily, and Boone stay here to see who could be the spy leaking out intel, while the rest of us take out Motor Runner in vault 3" said Chris.
Upon leaving of the major NCR military camps, it gave time for the old friends to reconnect and talk.
"So how are things going prior to meeting us at the Lucky 38, I apologize for not asking sooner" said Darkness.
"It's not so bad, we're still trying to get poor Rex a new brain, and although I was able to acquire a fresh one from one of Viola's dog, I have second thoughts on using it" said Chris.
"I see, though I'm certain that at some point we'll find another suitable candidate, I mean we have faced off against wild dogs across the Mojave" said Darkness.
"That is true, though the good Doctor mentioned that he knew of an old lady near Helios One who had raised a lot dogs" said Chris.
"You're talking about Old Lady Gibson, I'm certain if we asked she could help us in some regard" said Darkness as she could see the kind old lady parting with one of her dogs if asked nicely.
"Otherwise I fear our best bet is going into Legion territory and acquiring a dog brain from there" said Chris, "I personally have no intention of going there any time soon, though I guess if we could find a suitable candidate for Rex, I guess I'm willing" said Darkness as she hates raiders and slavers, less they of course intend to rape her till she's broken, which in her case is a very high possibility.
"Well here's the thing, me and Kazuma were given the mark of Caesar, and if we're guaranteed a safe entrance, I guess I too am willing to enter Legion territory to help Rex" said Chris.
"Heads up, we got fast company" said Veronica as she began to charge head on into battle, "Go on and catch up with her, we got you here" said Chris as she and Arcade began to stand guard to do range damage.
The Fiends were truly a band of the worst kind of big and well organized raiders, hopped up on enough chems that they can't feel anything and have degenerated into psychotic killers.
Armed with either various powerful laser to plasma weapons, to even rapid machine pistols and ranged carbine rifles, they are even crazy enough to attack with either pool sticks, machetes, to even bare hands.
But the icing on the cake was that their numbers seemed to double over compared to the Legion raider attacks.
Veronica had parried and ducked over any energy based weapons fired towards her, as she delivered a swift swing across the face of a Fiend, smashing their teeth and face into their skull, before caught under her arm of a crazed with intent of stabbing her.
Grabbing them in a headlock, Veronica proceeded to bring their head closer where she kneed them in the face a couple of times, before releasing the dazed Fiend, and slammed her power gloved fist on the back of their head, where she heard a loud snapping sound.
Darkness on the other hand pulled out Love and Hate, and showed to be equally matched in unarmed combat like Veronica, when she used the Great Khan trick to blind 2 of her opponents, before resorting to use the NCR takedown move on her remaining attacker.
Instead of dealing with them immediately, Darkness remembered the wisdom she's learned in the Mojave, before reaching behind and pulling out a plasma grenade, where she threw it towards a band of Fiends firing at her.
With the range one attacking her turned to plasma or died with major burns, Darkness returned her focus on the 3 Friends she had incapacitated.
Pulling out her trusty ripper Jack, she had savagely torn the Fiends into meat chunks.
Meanwhile, Chris and Arcade suppressed fire, as she had previously given Arcade multi-plasma rifle, while she stuck to using a scoped .44 revolver, and felt the most at ease there, in spite of them being forced to face against 15 Fiends by themselves.
Still they made quick work as they began to loot the corpses for ammo, weapons, and anything useful that could later be sold at a bargain.
"Alright, any of these individuals are the one called Motor-Runner" asked Darkness out loud.
"I wouldn't count on it, report say that Motor-Runner carries with him a chainsaw and is followed by 2 dogs" said Chris as they all turned their heads at the entrance what was Vault 3.
"Anyone want to take a guess and say our target is inside that vault" said Veronica, "Seems logical and if that's the case I hate to keep out guest waiting" said Darkness as they made their way outside the giant gear shaped door.
Using the control panel, the vault door began to turn and open as the group waited for it to do its thing before entering.
Once the vault door was open they were instantly greeted by heavily armored and frightened Fiends.
Like before it was nothing new as the front door guards were quickly put down by Chris using V.A.T.S. as Arcade used one of the plasma rifles to take out the Fiends with flamers.
"We better get the lead out before back up arrives" said Chris as the group split into pairs of 2 with one group exploring the east side of the vault and another towards towards the west side.
Ascending the stairs on the west were Darkness and Chris as they faced minimal but heavily armed opposition as the Fiends used an array of weapons from caravan shotguns, laser RCW's, and plasma rifles.
"I really hate those damn laser weapon" said Chris as she commented how devastating and annoying it is to face any raider armed with the laser RCW.
"I couldn't agree more" said Darkness as she prepared for such an occasion.
Before leaving the Brotherhood of Steel bunker in Hidden Valley, Kazuma went and 'acquired' some spare power armor before their departure.
The beauty about these walking ton of steel cased armor according to Kazuma that no one needs to train for anything special regarding these beauties and just about anyone could use and put it one.
At the time, he made sure that only he and Darkness had a set ready for them, as evidence that as soon as Darkness finished configured with her pip-boy, the full set of armor appeared before her.
"Darkness, what in the world is that" asked Chris in amazement as the standard non faction T-45 armor began to open up as Darkness entered.
"Don't worry Chris, I got things from here" said Darkness as her voice was altered when speaking through her helmet, before taking out the Q-35 matter modulator.
In less than a minute the over empowered Fiends dropped and turned to puddles of goo when Darkness stood her ground and killed them by herself.
"Come on Chris, we best hurry less we allow Motor-Runner a chance to prepare for a counter attack" said Darkness as Chris gave a thumbs up and followed her.
While this went on, Arcade and Veronica were facing Fiends and going up and down, and twisting and turning and killing minimally armed Fiends.
"Arcade cover me" said Veronica as she charged forward towards a Fiend with a pool stick.
Upon getting close the Fiend swung across towards Veronica, but she went head first as she delivered a punch that not only broke the pool stick but the Fiends jaw as he fell to the ground.
Arcade meanwhile did as Veronica said and turned a few Fiends into puddles of goo when they turned around the corner.
"You know I almost wondered what happened to the original inhabitants" asked Arcade as he approached Veronica before stepping passed her and killed another Fiend.
"I think you and I know what happened to the people here" said Veronica as she didn't like the idea of innocent people being massacred, and this is in spite of the Brotherhoods reputation of turning a blind eye to these situations.
"You're right" sighed Arcade as they continued to walk before turning to a room on their left to see it was packed with Fiends to hopped up on chems to consider either one a threat as they saw prisoners caged.
"Please, you gotta help us, these maniacs kidnapped us for god knows what reason" pleaded one of the captives.
"How do you want to handle this, take our chances in letting lose these people while these people are out of it, or be safe and kill these guys" asked Veronica as she clenched her power fist, fist.
"Do you happen to be an expert in lock picking" asked Arcade, "Can't say I know my way around a bobby pin, but a computer is something else I do know my way around" said Veronica.
"Ok, guess that settles it" said Arcade as she put away his plasma defender in favor of the multiplas rifle as Veronica put up her fisticuffs.
Back with Darkness and Chris they finally entered the room where Motor-Runner was waiting as he held his chainsaw in hand,
"Motor-Runner, by orders of the NCR, you and your Fiends are sentence to death for the murders of countless NCR citizens and soldiers" said Chris as she aimed her service rifle at the man.
As the man began to stand up, his dogs, Bonegnash and Gnashbone growled at the duo.
"Bring it on then" said Motor-Runner as he injected himself with Slasher before his dogs went to attack.
The mongrels made little to no real challenge to the duo as Darkness delivered only 2 solid punches and both mutts were out for the count.
Motor-Runner was the real challenge as he didn't flinch as he began to swing his weapon violently towards Chris, and this was after shooting him in the torso 5 times.
Backing away from the maniac Darkness took a chance to split the man's head open with her machete, the man turned and swung at her, and caught her off guard when he manage to destroy her entire chest plate to her armor.
Knowing first hand that just because she's wearing power, doesn't mean she's entirely invincible, while Motor-Runner was clearly not an ordinary raider to be taken lightly.
"Hey, I'm your target here too" said Chris as she shot him in the head as the man staggered back and held the spot where he got hit.
Seeing this as her chance to finish it, Darkness switched back to using Jack and completely tore the man's hand, head in half all the way down his neck, before pulling out her weapon.
"Well that was a challenge" said Darkness as she began to get out of her armor to further examine the damage on her body.
"Agreed, but we can now confirm Motor-Runner is officially dead for good this time" said Chris as Darkness store away her power armor and began to apply some healing powder on her chest and abdomen.
Making their way back, they saw that both Arcade and Veronica were successful in their mission in not only liberating captive citizens, but a ranger to boot.
"Hey guys, you found Motor-Runner yet" asked Veronica, "Got his helmet to prove that he's dead and for good" said Chris as she showed it to the group.
"That's one less problem for the NCR, truly you have our gratitude" said Ranger Bryce Anders.
Making their way back surface top, the group took their leisure time in returning back to Camp McCarran as they ran into an NCR merchant.
Buying themselves dinner, they continued to walk towards Camp McCarran only to witness the NCR monorail that connected to strip blew up to smithereens.
"What the hell was all that" asked Darkness as this got the camps attention, as panic ran amongst the troops.
Still after seeing such an explosion, it got Darkness, Chris and everyone worried as to the well being of their friends.
Earlier
When it came to interrogating the captured Centurion Silus, they figured it couldn't be that hard in the presence of Megumin and the company she was rolling with.
Well it was definitely easy in regards to the interrogating process, if not interesting.
"You sure you're up for the challenge kid" asked Lieutenant Boyd as she was skeptical in allowing Megumin, in spite of her knowing that she was fully aware of the reputation surrounding the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR.
"I'm more than up for the challenge" said Megumin as her companions stood behind her.
"If things get out of hand, charge in there and kill the bastard" whispered Boone to Rex as he felt Lily was nothing but enabling Megumin to pursuit her desire for mayhem.
Rex barked in agreement as they saw Megumin enter where Silus was held captive.
"You have got to be kidding me, the NCR is either that desperate or that stupid to think I can be intimidated by some little girl" Silus said in his all smarmy glory.
"I'll have you know that I am not some little girl, I am Megumin the genius even amongst the brilliant of minds within the Crimson Demons" said Megumin as she stroke a dramatic Chuunibyou pose.
"Wait did you say Megumin, as in the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR Megumin" said Silus as Megumin made a disgruntled sound over how people call her by that title and ignore her clans heritage.
"Yes, I go by that title too, unfortunately" admitted Megumin as she whispered the last bit to herself.
Unknown to Megumin, the title and reputation that came being called the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR was actually more infamous and either reminded or put actual fear within the hearts of the Legion since she was a demolition maniac like the Boomers.
So right now Silus was sweating beads since he once heard a rumor she took out a pack of Deathclaws with one frag mine, while gibbing a dozen or so Legionaries.
While some were rumors, the big fact remained that out of all the members that follow under the lead of the Road Warrior, Megumin was the one who was the most dangerous.
"Anyways, you will talk and tell me everything I want to know in regards to what secrets you're keeping so help me you face an oblivion that is darker than the darkest of shadows, a pain that is forbidden in the pits of hell, a sound so booming that the def are able to hear one more time as I paint the town red… with blood incase that last part wasn't clear, and all I need is ol' Betsy here" waved Megumin as Silus fell back and off his chair as he hid behind it.
"Are you insane, you'll blow yourself up as well" Silus said wide eye as Lieutenant Boyd was partially angry at Megumin but couldn't deny her methods of result.
"Lieutenant get this maniac out of here" pleaded Silus as Lieutenant Boyd did as requested.
"Well ain't that a sight, one of the Legions top Centurions cowering in fear, wait till the boys here this" Lieutenant Boyd said with a shit eating grin.
"You think this is funny allowing the most dangerous child in here like that" Silus said angrily as he was visibly shaking, "Well ain't that the Jet junkie calling an alcoholic an addict, I'm certain if you guys had the sense to allow woman of this power in your army, you'd be terrorizing, but you guys screwed yourselves in the ass with only being surrounded by men. Pun so intended" said Lieutenant Boyd.
"I swear when I get out of here, I'm going to enjoy strapping a slave collar on you, and putting you in your place woman" Silus said to goad Lieutenant Boyd.
"Hey kid, get back in here and whatever you need to blow this asshole up to paint this room red like you promised" threatened Lieutenant Boyd as both saw Megumin picking out the needed supplies.
"NO! God no! I'll talk, I'll tell you everything I know from Caesar having the blackout headaches that has been interfering with our plans to further expand, or how you have a damn spy within your ranks who plans to blow up the monorail" begged Silus as this was truly a sight to behold.
As such, Boone had borrowed Lily's camera and took a picture of the sight before him and high a Legion Centurion was down on his knees begging to be spared as he clutched onto an NCR officer, and a woman no less.
"Thank you Silus, you're truly made my day by becoming my bitch" said Lieutenant Boyd as she shoved him off before stepping out the room.
"Well, thanks to you we now got some interesting info, so if I were you guys, I'd get on it pronto" said Lieutenant Boyd as Boone saluted her in response before they left the interrogation room.
"Alright, let's bring this up with Colonel Hsu, I'm sure he'd be interested in learning about this" said Boone as they all went to be debriefed by the Colonel himself before being granted access to the relay radio tower.
Checking the time slots, they discovered somewhere between 1:30-2 a.m. in the morning that someone's been entering the tower everyday this past week and decided to hold a stake out.
It was simple really, Boone would take a long range vantage point alongside Rex, as Lily and Megumin with the use of stealth boys would hide around the corner to catch bastard in the act.
To their surprise it was none other than Corporal Curtis as he snuck to the top of the tower, with Megumin and Lily in pursuit.
"Centurion Silus has broken under the pressure of the Feisty Loli Cyclops of the NCR, requesting permission to act now in blowing up the monorail from Camp McCarran to the New Vegas Strip" said Curtis.
"Permission granted, and as soon as you complete that, your further orders are to execute Centurion Silus, and make it slow and painful" said the legion on the other line.
"Ave, true to Caesar" said Curtis as he was ready to turn tail, but wound up bumping into Lily as she decloaked in front of the Legion spy.
"Oh crap" said Curtis before he had been cleaved in 2 by Lily, while Megumin got a head start and rushed to the monorail as Rex began to follow alongside her.
Racing upstairs to beat the clock, Megumin slipped passed the guards who were guarding the monorail as beat the clock and manage to get on the monorail.
Opening the panel and rewiring some wires, Megumin and Rex hopped off in time to watch monorail go on schedule and witnessed it exploding from a distance.
"What do you think Rex, how would you rate that explosion" Megumin said proudly as she did nothing but made the explosion more lethal and deadly when she hotwired it.
All Rex could do was whine for he knows what'll happen next when they made their way back to greet everyone.
"What the hell was that, I thought you had enough time to disarm the bomb" asked Boone as the bomb could've been seen from the NCR capital.
"Did you witness how I turned that petty Legion explosive into a work of Art" Megumin asked triumphantly like she did something so right, "Wait are you saying you deliberately allowed the monorail explode" asked Boone with a tic mark on his head.
"As a Crimson Demon it is my sole duty to ensure that any to every explosion I make is grandiose and awe inspiring" said Megumin as her haughtiness after what she admit to doing was a valid excuse to do what she did.
"That's it I've had enough of your delusional self entitled behavior you brat" said Boone as he grabbed Megumin from the back of her shirt and tossed her on his lap.
"Boone, what are you planning to do" asked Lily as Rex knew what he was gonna do, but barked for the sake of it.
"Don't get involved grandma, it's time that someone showed this brat the consequences of constantly disobeying rules and deliberately causing mischief, and I know the only method that's guaranteed to work" said Boone as he raised his hand to the sky.
In one swift motion Boone swung and spanked Megumin's ass, and boy did it hurt as she yelped in pain.
"A spanking and a good one at that" said Boone as he continued this process, even when Chris and Darkness returned.
"OW! Stop! Stop! I'm sorry!" cried Megumin as she began to let out tears of pain as everyone just stood there and watch.
"Boone, if you must spank someone, please feel free to spank me instead" Darkness said with a blush and perverted smile, "This isn't foreplay, this is punishing a very, very naughty girl who blew up the monorail" said Boone as he was starting to feel winded.
"Hey Arcade, you want to comment or add your thoughts on the matter at hand here" asked Veronica as the witnessed Boone finally releasing his hold on Megumin as Lily and Rex came to comfort her shortly after.
"Well in regards to parental discipline and abuse on kids, that there is a delicate subject, but besides the 5 minute timeout in the corner, spanking a child is acceptable, so long as it's not out o sadistic or intoxicated pleasure, and the method is done with their bare hand at minimum, or a chancla at maximum" said Arcade.
"What's a chancla" asked Veronica, "Ask Raul, I'm more than certain he'd know better than anyone else and could probably tell us a story or 2" said Arcade before seeing our cast discuss.
"While what Boone did was out of line, Megumin you deliberately blew up the NCR monorail, so be grateful you only got away with a spanking" said Chris as she too scolded and added her 2 caps on the matter.
"But my butt is sore now" whined Megumin, "Good, cause next time I'll use my belt with the brass belt buckle" said Boone as he began to chew on his tobacco.
"You will not, but I will allow you to punish Megumin again should she do something this irresponsible again" said Darkness as the group went to report in what happened to Colonel Hsu, and this marked the first time the group lost any sort of reputation with the NCR.
Later
After going to the mess hall and repairing the food processor, the group sat down and got to enjoy themselves some dinner.
"So we're gonna report that Contreras guy or what" asked Boone as he was disgusted that there were always those selfishly stupid soldiers amongst the NCR ranks who would steal or sell things that was NCR military property, especially if it's their enemies.
"Oh we will, after we finish our Bighorn Steak and Beans" said Darkness as that was what they were having for dinner.
"Hey can we listen to some music while we eat here" asked Veronica, "I got it guys" said Chris as she began to turn on the radio.
"And that was 'the Wanderer' folks, I hope you enjoyed the sing as much as I do folks and remain on your best behavior, now this next one is for our locals from Freeside, specifically the King who was kind enough to give us a record they have found, so without further ado, I give you 'Burning Love'" said Mr. New Vegas on the radio.
As the song continued to played, everyone sat down and continued to eat in peace, and in spite of being a little more infamous today, they were at least given a warning and were welcomed to eat amongst the NCR and travel their territories.
Once they were done, everyone was ready to report to Lieutenant Boyd about the hard evidence they had on Contreras, before the music ended with Mr. Vegas giving a heartbreaking message to the woman of team Kazuma.
"And that was 'Burning Love' ladies and gentlemen, and while we're talking about burning love, the Mojave finally got a little hotter as folks on the strip claim to have witness that the Road Warrior that is Kazuma, was caught painting the town red with Aqua the Oasis Beauty as they enjoyed playing and robbing the Tops Casino blind, a romantic dinner for two, and accordingly what the birds and the bees are known to do. Could be a rumor, could be the truth, who knows but them, but please feel free to mail in your opinion on the matter to your old friend Mr. New Vegas, and now for more music" said Mr. New Vegas as the music began to play.
This was hard to hear for Megumin and Darkness, as Kazuma the man both were madly in love chose to pursuit a relationship with Aqua.
Granted they were surprised it didn't happen sooner or earlier, especially given how she showed clearly no interest until now, and she did while they were all unaware.
Still Mr. New Vegas said it could be a rumor, and that's what they hope as they know what they got to do now.
"Let's turn in Contreras and call it a day, we got a long journey to Caesar's fort, and we should get as much rest as possible" said Chris as Megumin and Darkness said nothing, leaving an ominous feeling amongst the group.
Finally this chapter was finished, and I am so sorry for the long delay, what happened was I got side tracked with video games and ideas for a new fanfic after another and just acted on it, and just when I was ready to get back on track, my save file crashed so I had to do a lot of back tracking and to give you guys an idea I was already at level 50 on a mission coming back from beating Dead Money, but because I didn't saved as often I was then forced to play as level 38 all over again during my confrontation with Ulysses at the end of Lonesome Road so yeah, I guess that's my karma.
Next chapter will focus back with Kazuma and Aqua as they clear out Camp Searchlight while waiting to catch up with Darkness, Megumin, and Chris before heading out to the fort.
Otherwise guys I appreciate your patience and continued support, truly this has been a crazy time period for us especially last week, but I just hope things get back on track so that we can resume our old regular lives again, because I seriously want nothing more than to buy a red velvet cheesecake from Barnes and Nobles while purchasing and reading the newest issue of whatever, and enjoy it while inside at the café.
