Hello everyone! Welcome back to another chapter of Kiki's Secret. In this chapter, Kiki and Jiji go out for a midnight flight, but it's cold out and Jiji is worried about Kiki's health. Anyways, with all of that out of the way, I hope you enjoy reading this story. Now, without further ado, let's take flight.

oOo

The moon shone brightly in the dark and star-filled sky. And Kiki, a witch at the young and bright age of thirteen, with pale skin and jet black short hair, wrapped neatly in a bright red bow, with her signature black dress and red slippers, stared out her window and her mind was filled with wonder: her midnight black cat with so-white-they-were-blue eyes, Jiji, tailing at her heels. He looked up at her with wonder, just as she was doing, and meowed softly, as if questioning what exactly she was looking at. But she was looking at nothing but just the black and starry night sky filled with satisfaction. It had been exactly a year since she had first landed in Koriko, full of hope to become the best witch she could be. Things had not exactly played out as well as she thought: she had started a flying courier service, lost her powers, got them back, and then saved one of her closest friends from a rogue dirigible.

And she could thank her broomstick for most of this. One of her specialties was flying, and she was hoping to expand her set of skills from beyond soaring through midair, wind brushing through her hair, and Jiji clinging to her pink bag.

Within that moment she had made up her mind. "Jiji-Kun," she said, "let's go for a midnight flight!

He nodded in agreement, and trotted at her heels as she made her way to her broom. The broom was a dark scrub brush, the one that she used to rescue Tombo from the dirigible. Jiji's kittens, Raven, Honey, Goldie, and Jiji's catfriend Lily were all resting peacefully at her owner's house. However, Jiji's youngest daughter and the one who looked almost exactly like him, Midnight, was purring on the bed. Her big eyes blinked confusedly, but then she comprehended what they were doing and jumped off the bed, not landing as gracefully as she liked, and then she dashed toward them. She liked the adventures they went on.

Kiki opened the door quietly, it was one o'clock in the morning and she didn't want to wake up Osono, Fukuo, or their new baby. The two cats toed silently at her heels, and the three of them went down the stairs, careful of it not to creak.

Kiki took her broom and tucked it under her legs in position, with Jiji and Midnight sitting near the top, and then she jumped up and pushed herself forward. They were off. They flew off into the night sky, Kiki laughing a very happy laugh indeed, and Midnight and Jiji purring happily. She thought to check on Tombo and see if he was awake, which he most certainly was not. She steered her broom in the direction of his home, doing a loop in the process: flying really was her special skill.

The wind swept her short hair back and whipped against her face. Kiki didn't mind, but her cat Jiji was certainly putting up a fuss from his perch in front of her on her broomstick.

"Kiki, are you sure you're up for a midnight flight in this kind of weather?" He yowled, "It's cold outside and you just got over that flu that was going around."

"Relax Jiji-Kun," She said, "I'll be fine. Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it. I'm just going for a little midnight flight, I mean, it's not like I'm going to hang outside for three hours in pouring rain."

"Whatever you say, Kiki. I just hope you know what you're doing." Jiji scooted closer to the delivery witch. It was that time of year when the nights began to turn chilly, and he was irritated that Kiki had neglected to wear a jacket. She would get sick again for sure.
