On the 2nd day of Christmas~ Carlisle

Summary: Carlisle Cullen has just moved to Forks with his five adoptive, abnormally beautiful children. He takes a job as the towns doctor, while his kids attend Forks High. While Carlisle enjoys being a doctor, his soul has been yearning to find someone to give his all. At a Christmas party, Carlisle meets the new nurse as they find themselves under the mistletoe.

Emmett and Rosalie peer over at their usually bubbly sibling who seemed to have even more energy than moments before. Her short, pixie hair was spiked in all directions, a wide smile on her face as she practically bounced on her feet. "What's gotten into her?" Rosalie wonders with a smile. Jasper just shrugs, smiling fondly down at Alice. Edward just chuckles, his own eyes sparkling in delight. "You know, I hate it when you guys keep these things to yourself," Rosalie huffs, although she really isn't that upset. "Dad's about to meet her," Edward clarifies, his eyes glazed over as well as he watches miniature glimpses from Alice's mind.

All of the remaining siblings perked up in response. It was no secret that Carlisle has been searching for true love. "The one?" Emmett questions. Edward and Alice both nod. "I've got money that she's a blonde," Emmett murmurs. Jasper just smirks. "Brunette. Loser has to eat human food for a day," Emmett just grins. "You're on brother,"

Carlisle just smiled easily as Christmas music played in the background, everyone talking and laughing. Nurses and doctors were dancing in the middle of the cafeteria, some patients on the floor as well, watching the festive activities. He was off to the side, watching everyone. He just sighed to himself as he could hear nurses over the music ogling him, wondering if he were available and if he was out on the dating scene. Carlisle was flattered nonetheless, but none of these women were the one.

He dances with a few nurses just for the fun of it, smiling charmingly in the process. As the night went on, Carlisle kept considering just going home. Maybe Forks wasn't the place after all. Alice and Edward had both urged Carlisle that this was the right move. He was trying to wait it out, wait her out, but it was becoming more difficult as time went on.

He goes back to the sidelines, checking over patients, unaware someone else was doing the same. When a slim figure bumped into him from behind, Carlisle turned around, ready to apologize, but the words get caught in his throat as he gazes down at the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. She was short, roughly about 5'4, with long, curly, brown hair, doe brown eyes, and pale complexion. She was dressed in a green, sparkly dress and black flats.

Her nervous smile drew his attention. Her top lip was like a Cupid's bow, her bottom lip slightly fuller than the top, a glossy material covering them. "My apologies," She smiles, flushing a bit as she stared upon him. Carlisle had to blink a few times. Her voice was soft and sweet. Like velvet. "It's quite alright," He responds. He looks down at her name-tag, his eyes narrowing in recognition. "You're Isabella. The new nurse that's been added to my staff," She nods with a smile, holding out her hand. "That'd be me, Mr. Cullen," The moment he grasps her hand, there is the feeling of static, and Isabella's brows furrow as she draws back her hand.

"It's quite lovely to meet you," He smiles, and it causes her to do the same. "Likewise," She breathes. "Oh! Mistletoe!" A patient calls out. Mrs. Haggerty was an older woman, a bit senile if you asked anyone, but she loved Love. Romance. Anything happy and positive. Both Carlisle and Isabella look up, and she flushes, turning a dark red. Carlisle looks back down at her, meeting her eyes. If touching her hand felt the way it did, he could only imagine what kissing her would be like. He knew he had to. She was what he'd been searching for.

"May I?" He asks, and she finds herself getting lost in his golden eyes. He raises a hand to her cheek, feeling her soft skin, another small charge of static coursing between them. She stands on the tips of her toes, and Carlisle snakes an arm around her waist, lifting her from the floor just a few inches, closing his eyes as he dipped his head to press a kiss against her lips. He only meant for it to be a chaste kiss, but the second his lips met hers, that thought was gone. Her lips were soft, and her gloss tasted like strawberries.

He kissed her lips with passion, like a starving man, and for a moment he forgot they weren't alone. When she parted her mouth, a clear indication that she wanted the kiss to deepen, Carlisle pulled away, looking a bit flustered. Isabella was breathing a bit heavily, her chest barely touching his abdomen with breath. He gently sets her down, smiling sheepishly. She looks just as he did, and she reaches up with her hand to brush some of her gloss off the corner of his mouth. "Um…I uh.." She murmurs, not sure what to say. "Would you like some punch?" Carlisle interjects, seeing as how he seemed to have the same affect on her as she did him, even as a human. She nods gratefully. "Yes please,"

Carlisle just nods and goes to the bar near the cafeteria entrance. Isabella swallows and rubs her hands down her dress in nerves. Isabella Swan had just finished up her nursing degree and decided to work at Forks General to be close to her father. He was Chief of Police. She always liked Forks, and she was hoping that here she could start her career and settle down in a few years. Before starting, she heard about the infamous Dr. Cullen. While she didn't ogle him or giggle behind the desk like some of the other nurses, she had to admit that from afar, he was very handsome. She however didn't know much about him.

Her lips still tingled from that kiss, and to her, it felt so desirable. She was just 25, having ended a very serious relationship a few years ago due to her following her dreams, and it has been a long time since someone had kissed her so heatedly. She wasn't daft to see that there was some form of attraction. She was always a sucker for spontaneous romance. She checked on the few patients around her, waiting patiently for Carlisle to come back with her punch.

As she waited, Nurse Janice had walked up to her, asking her how she was liking Forks and that she was happy to work with her. It wasn't until Nurse Janice moved closer to Isabella that her elated mood had been turned to dust.

"You should be careful around Dr. Cullen. I know he's a very attractive man, but I must tell you, he and a few doctors do this every year. They pick a pretty young nurse to kiss under the mistletoe and act like nothing happened the next day. That's what happened to Flora," Bella wanders her eyes over to the nurse in question, seeing her looking highly distraught.

Isabella looks back towards the bar to see Carlisle chatting with an equally handsome man. The doctor turned towards her, sending her a wink. "He's also married," Janice's words barely register, and Isabella looks away, blinking a few times. She missed the look of slight jealousy that passed along Carlisle's face. While she was somewhat skeptical of Janice's words, she also knew that a setting like this was filled with nothing but drama, and she really didn't want to work in a space where this would be an issue. "Excuse me," Isabella murmurs, excusing herself away from Janice and making her way towards the cafeteria doors. Carlisle noticing this, quickly dismissed his colleague, handing him the glass of punch, rushing to follow Isabella before she got too far.

He quickly rushed out the cafeteria doors, calling her name. "Are you leaving?" He asks as he catches up to her. She had her bag strapped over her shoulder, and she pauses, turning to face him. She had a confused expression on her face, and Carlisle followed with his eyes as she bit her lip for a moment. "Are you married?" She blurts and Carlisle is thrown for a surprise. His brows raise and he opens and closes his mouth for a moment. He was wondering where'd she'd get that assumption. Taking his delayed response as a yes, she purses her lips. Before she could speak, Carlisle finally choked out a 'no'. Isabella narrows her eyes at him, "Well Dr. Cullen, I don't take kindly to be treated like some….toy," She huffs, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I'm sorry but…a toy?" He repeats, slightly confused. He wished he had been paying attention when he was talking with Doctor Roberts. "Yes. I know all about mistletoe and…kisses…and poor Flora!" She quietly hissed. Upon hearing the name Flora, Carlisle could only chuckle. Isabella gives him an exasperated look. "Isabella…if my kissing you were a simple game, do you think I would've kissed you so…passionately?" He clasps his hands behind his back, a small smile on his face.

Isabella just narrows her eyes. "Sure, to make it convincing," She smarts, jutting her chin out. His light laughter washes over her, and she practically shudders from the sound alone. "You think that was convincing?" He smarts back, stepping closer to her. He simply points up, and hanging from a fire alarm was another mistletoe. Before she can say another witty word, Carlisle pulls her by hand, pulling her flush against him, dipping down to taste her lips for the second time tonight.

Instead of stopping when she granted entrance to her mouth, Carlisle gently swiped his tongue across her lips, and Isabella's quiet moan of surprise made him wrap both arms around her waist, hands planted on her hips. Only when she needed to breathe did he release her. He could only pleasantly smile at her clearly plump lips, dazed expression, and wide eyes. "In the cafeteria, I kissed you because we were under the mistletoe, and you're a very beautiful woman. I kissed you now…" He gently grips her chin, meeting her eyes. "Because I'd like to take you out, and to also prove you wrong," He chuckles as she swats playfully at his hand.

"I'm not sure what you have heard when it comes to me and the nurses, but you're the first I've ever perused. As for Flora…never in a million years," Isabella shakes her head, quiet laughter bubbling from her chest. "I must apologize then for my behavior. I could have just asked," Carlisle holds out his arm for her to take. "I think this was fine as well. Allow me to walk me to your car?" She takes his arm, and they quietly walk to her car that coincidentally was parked next to his. He opens the driver side door, taking her hand to guide her in. He leans down as she starts the car. "How about I pick you up this Friday?"

Isabella nods. "Sounds like a date. Oh, would you like my address?" Carlisle nods, listening as she told him his address. "Are you sure you don't need paper? It's long," Carlisle just taps his temple. "Impeccable memory. See you Friday. Oh, wear something comfortable," She nearly swoons as he kisses the back of her hand before he's walking away.

Friday

Carlisle walks up to Isabella's door, flowers in his hand. It was the day before Christmas Eve and this time of the year was perfect. He knocks twice, and he can hear her inside shuffling around before she takes a few deep breaths. He could practically smell her as she opened the door, a wide smile on her face. He couldn't help but stare at her. She was dressed in a simple pair of jeans that clung tightly to her frame and a long-sleeved sweater. "Good evening. I hope you like Petunias," He bends down to kiss her cheek, and she nods enthusiastically. "They're one of my factories actually. I'll go sit these in a vase," She allows him in, and she takes the flowers from him.

He can't take much notice of anything, partially since she was back before he could really catalog things, and her scent was everywhere. It was quite a distraction. "Okay, I'm ready," Carlisle smiles at her, and waits patiently on the porch as she shuts off all the lights and locks up the front door. "So, where are we going?" Carlisle just chuckles as he opens the passenger door for her. "It's a surprise," He answers, going around to the driver's side, and getting in. The car was already warm for Isabella, and Carlisle sped off into the evening.

Isabella was alarmed at first as Carlisle sped down the winding roads of Forks and into Seattle, calming some after he assured her that he knew what he was doing and that everything would be okay. Bella asked him little things about why he decided to become a doctor and he answered any question she had. Carlisle told her about his children, and she just smiled as he spoke about them. She thought it was attractive that he was a single father with teenagers no less. Each teen sounded interesting, and Bella mentioned she'd love to meet them. His smile just widened at that, and they continued asking small questions about one another. Carlisle learned she loved to read, and always wanted to be a nurse since she was a teen. Her father was the Chief of Police, and she had just moved to Forks not that long ago.

"I could do it forever if I could," She murmurs, her eyes widening as Carlisle pulled into the parking lot of the Seattle Zoo. "Oh my god. I love the zoo!" She practically squeals in delight, and Carlisle smiles. It was honestly just a hunch, and it was something she mentioned briefly at work to a coworker. He shuts off the car and steps out. He goes to open her door, and she immediately takes his hand, bouncing happily as they walk to the ticket booth.

Carlisle pays for both of their tickets, and they explore the various exhibits. The Christmas lights were up, a large Christmas tree in the middle. While Isabella's eyes were on the animals and the lights, Carlisle's eyes were on her. She was just like a ball of light, warmth, and simply beautiful. They spent a few hours at the zoo, Carlisle bought her a few stuffed animals, and throughout the night, he wandered how he'd tell her his deepest, most dangerous secret.

Christmas Day

When Isabella first met Carlisle's children, she was mesmerized. They all equally looked just as beautiful and…different. Carlisle had invited her over to spend Christmas with them, and she was flattered beyond belief. They looked young but seemed very wise for their age, something she noticed. They were charming, nice, and acting very mature for teenagers. They were like supermodels. She had Christmas dinner, to which she noticed they just pushed around their plates, barely eating anything. She let that slip to the back of her mind for the moment as Carlisle showed her around the house. They had a large showcase of graduation caps, which she found somewhat humorous. He showed her his study, and she was immediately captivated by his medical books and journals.

Carlisle was happy to share this part of his life with someone who would understand. He let

her explore, and he just found pleasure in watching her get excited. That evening, he sent her off with the prospect of going out to next week.

Carlisle knew she was the one. So he knew he'd have to tell her eventually, and he could only hope she took the news well.

Bella, as she liked to be called, glowed under the soft candlelight, as they laughed over their periods as residents. "This was wonderful Carlisle, thank you," She smiles, wiping around her mouth. "My pleasure. Hmm, Bella, there's something I need to tell you," He murmurs, placing the check back down on the table, his voice making her sit up a bit straighter. "Sure," She responds, standing from her seat. Carlisle stands as well, draping her jacket over her shoulders, taking her hand as they walk out. Bella interlaces her fingers through his, and it's enough to slightly shake off his nerves. He leads them to the park across the street, and it starts to lightly drizzle outside.

"Carlisle? Is everything alright," Bella wonders, stopping at a standstill. Carlisle purses his lips, and then sighs. "Not really. Do you believe in the Supernatural?" He questions, and Bella just furrows her brows. "You mean like ghosts and things?" She tilts her head, staring at him. Carlisle shakes his head, caressing her hand before letting it go. "Not like that. I mean things like fairytales or myths. Vampires," Bella looks even more confused, sure that he didn't bring her out in the open to talk to her about myths. "Um, not really no…" Carlisle's frown deepen and he looks almost apologetic as he stares at her. "I'm not what you think I am. I'm not….human," Bella stares at him long and hard, the rain slightly clouding her vision. "This isn't my idea of…fun. You're joking right? You're not like one of those weirdos that think they have like these Supernatural…." Carlisle cuts off her sentence by suddenly disappearing from her very eyes. He's behind her in the less time it takes her to blink.

Bella swivels around, her eyes wide, heart racing. "I know it's a lot to take at once, but I assure you that I'm not going to hurt you. I…I care about you," Carlisle soothes, reaching out to touch her cheek. Like he feared, she flinched away from him. "Bella…" He murmurs, watching her stand still. Her eyes glaze over, and she sways on her feet. Carlisle reaches out to catch her as she faints.

When Bella awoke on her couch, alone, she spotted a letter on her coffee table. It was Carlisle's request for her to give him a call. Also, like he feared, she did not. She didn't show up for work for at least three days, wouldn't answer his or anyone's calls. While she was definitely freaked out by the true nature of her love interest, she was also terrified of her own feelings. She knew that Carlisle was a good man. He saved people on a daily basis, and cared very deeply with his heart. She should be afraid of him. Terrified even, but not once did he ever make her feel like she was in danger.

She was conflicted. What would that mean for her? What did he want from her? She really liked him, and it's what bothered her, even after knowing the truth. She was consumed by the feelings of trust and comfort while she should be feeling scared. It's why she avoided Carlisle and his family. Something had to be wrong with her to feel the way she felt.

While Bella stewed on her inner feelings, Carlisle couldn't take it. He had to see her. Had to make things right. He didn't think he deserved to be alone forever. Even if it felt like it. The knock on her door early in the morning, just a few days before New Year's, made her jump. She peers out of her curtains to see who it is, only to swallow at the perfection of Carlisle Cullen. It explained their abnormal beauty. Bella steeled herself for this and went to the front door. She slowly pulls it open, her heart racing at the sight of him. He had just clearly gotten off work, his blonde hair tousled a bit as if he were messing in it.

Bella blinks a few times, and Carlisle isn't sure what to say. "Bella…I know I scared you the other night, but I need you to understand that I'm not here to hurt you," They stare at each other quietly, and as she just stares at him, Carlisle's hope starts to diminish. Before he can truly comprehend anything, Bella was grabbing his tie, pulling him down to meet her lips. Carlisle was too caught off guard to pay attention, and he gave a surprised hum as Bella pulled him inside. Carlisle closes the door with his foot, feeling Bella's warm hands traveling under his shirt.

After a passionate morning, Bella explained why she felt the way she did. Carlisle started to gather an understanding as to why. It only further more cemented the fact that they were meant to be together. It was a normal human reaction to faint, hideaway, but Bella was drawn to him, cared for him, knew that he wasn't a monster. He carefully explained to her about mating, and what that meant for the both of them. Bella wasn't sure about the prospect of becoming a member of the undead, but she got to know a lot more about him and his species as he laid out his whole story, what type of vampires there were, and how he and his family differed. He didn't go into a lot of detail concerning the changes of his children, but the more he told her, the safer she felt.

The more she understood. "I've been waiting a very long time for you," Carlisle whispers, nuzzling his face in her hair, and Bella curls against his somewhat warm body.

A Year Later

Bella and Dr. Cullen had become the talk of the town last New Years when they started dating. Everyone was rather surprised when they just showed up to work one morning, together. Nurses like Janice and Flora were the shocked of them all, wondering how she managed to pull who used to be one of the most eligible bachelors. Anyone who was clearly happy about their relationship wished them the best.

They didn't let their relationship change the way they worked in the hospital, their work dynamic was one no one had seen in years. Bella was good at what she did, and worked alongside Carlisle with purpose and dedication. They were like a super couple. They rarely showed their affection in the public space of their colleagues simply because they'd rather keep that to themselves, not to say many people saw them sneak off into his office every once in a while, one or both of them returning disheveled a bit.

Edward, Alice, Rosalie, Jasper, and Emmett had quickly warmed up to the woman that stole Carlisle's heart, each just as happy as he. Edward had never been able to read her mind clearly since she met them, only able to hear bits and pieces. When Bella would come over, she'd try to think of a million different things, and it was humorous watching Edward struggle, only able to see glimpses or hear a few words at a time.

She would spend some girl time with Alice and Rosalie, whether that be gossiping or a spa day. Alice was bummed that Bella wasn't a shopper, and Bella liked to keep it that way. Emmett was the jokester, and she'd find herself caught in one of his schemes in a heartbeat. Jasper was the calm one, who would tell her war stories, and they bonded over a love of books.

The more Bella spent time with them, the more she was becoming a part of their family.

As the holidays quickly rolled around again, Carlisle hadn't seen a point in waiting any longer. On Christmas Eve, he proposed, having said that she was the one for him and always would be. It didn't take her but for a moment to make her decision. She wore his ring with pride, and Carlisle had finally met her father who was just happy his daughter was happy.

Before the New Year, she decided that moving in with Carlisle and his family was a better move that just made sense. They brought in the new year with her at their side. The two married a few months after, and Bella had finally decided that she was okay with being turned. Carlisle was ecstatic. He and Jasper had broken down what it would be like for her, and while a little reserved and nervous, Carlisle promised to never leave her side.

She was a quiet changer, something that worried Carlisle to death. She changed for three days still as a stone, and she was even more beautiful than before. When she awoke, Carlisle could see that she still looked the same, a few enhancements made in particular places, along with the graceful balance and air. What surprised him most was that she wasn't a typical newborn. She didn't have those urging tendencies, and took rather well to the animal diet.

He was even more surprised that she didn't even seem to have a bloodlust for human blood. After promising that he wouldn't let her hurt anyone, they went out into the town, testing the waters so to speak. Some people noticed a difference in Bella, but didn't pay it much attention. She had grown into her features a bit more, but no one could tell there was ever any difference unless they stared hard enough. It meant that they could continue in Forks for just a few more years. After claiming ill for a month, Bella had resumed her practices as a nurse, and Carlisle was still amazed at how well she adapted. She worked quicker, knew what to look for which with her enhanced senses worked out for the better.

They were a team.

Bella was currently helping a patient, one she remembered well, Mrs. Haggerty. "I remember you and that young doctor got together at the Christmas Party!" Bella nods, helping the woman into bed. "Yes. You get some rest now, alright?" Mrs. Haggerty smiles. "Love during the holidays always seem like a miracle," She sighs dreamily.

Bella simply chuckles, looking over her shoulder as she could feel Carlisle's presence within the room. "It sure is," She agrees.

This one I liked. But also if it were more flushed out then maybe I'd love it. I wasn't planning on this being long. I mean for these to be short but here ya go. Sorry I wasn't able to get this out yesterday and I'll be adding another one today to keep up with the days. School has been hectic and work so…balancing everything out.
