Chapter 3 — THE CONFRONTATION

LIMA, OHIO

HUMMEL HOUSE

Mel had just gotten home from school for the weekend as she boarded at Crawford County Day during the week. She was in a pretty good mood. She just got the solo in the school's glee club! She had finished all her homework at school so she had the weekend free to practice her song with Finn and just relax. Later she and Shea were going to video chat for a bit like they did every night.

Her mood changed however when she walked in and saw Rachel sitting on the sofa next to Finn. Mel was very nice and accepted everyone but for some reason she despised Rachel. The entire time that she was in Glee at McKinley, Rachel always made sure that Mel was denied solos and a lot worse.

Setting down her schoolbag, Mel smiled at Finn, 'Hey Finn, how are you doing? Kurt is going to be at Blaine's until they come over for Friday night dinner. Oh hey Rachel hope you are doing well and getting that set list under lock and key.."

Rachel stood up with a wicked grin on her face, "Oh hey Mel, what are you doing here? I have been thinking about you a lot lately. I was so sad when you had to transfer schools. I hope I didn't have anything to do with that. It was such a loss to the —"

"I live here. Kurt is my twin. I board at Crawford during the week, coming home on the weekends. Also you can drop the innocent act you little hobbit. You know damn well that it was your fault that I had to transfer schools. You are self serving, egotistical and you think of no one but yourself. You also threatened Kurt when I got a solo you wanted. When he ignored your threats you sent the swim team after us! I have one question for you and I want an answer: Was it worth it?"

While Mel was yelling at Rachel, Finn had been listening to all this and he was getting really mad. He had known what Rachel had done to Kurt but not so much what she had done to Mel. Putting down the video game controller he was holding, he gets up and goes and stands next to Mel.

Finn tried to keep his voice even and calm, even though he was angry inside, "Rachel, I want an answer to this question also. But I have to warn you that choose your answer very carefully. I'm sick of your antics in glee, and how you treat people. How you treated Blaine and Kurt on New Years was unacceptable and down right rude. What Mel just said you did to her is unforgivable. I know you have big dreams. But what about working together and being nice. Isn't that what Glee is about?"

"Why are you taking her side? I don't believe this!" Rachel screeched. "I am your girlfriend and you are supposed to be on my side. You love me. You want an answer to was it worth it fine; yes, it was worth it because I am now back to where I belong in the club. I'm getting solos again and on the track for achieving my goals. I was jealous of you and I saw you as a threat to my standing in the glee club."

"YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON RACHEL. I did nothing to you. I avoided you because of what I heard about you from other members. NOW GET OUT OF MY HOUSE." Mel said as hot tears fell down her face out of anger. "You are not welcome here."

Grinning an evil grin, that only Rachel could do, she replied. "Oh but you forget, I'm still with Finn and he lives here so I can still come here and am welcome."

Finn stepped in front of Rachel, grabbing her by the arm, "You and I are done. You have crossed the line and seriously hurt two people that I care very much for. I stood by you and defended you every time. No more. I'm sorry Rachel but I'm siding with Mel, you are no longer welcome here. Please leave as I can't stand the sight of you right now."

Unable to form words, which was extremely unusual for her, Rachel ran out the door, slamming it behind her.

After she left Mel and Finn looked at each other taking a deep sigh. Neither could believe what had just happened. Mel was still crying but the anger was leaving her body. Finn walked over to her and hugged her.

As they sat down on the couch, Mel smiled for the first time since she got home. "Thank you for defending me during all that. I appreciate it. I would like to tell you what she did to me. Keep in mind that this happened when Kurt was being bulled as well. When I first started in glee, I was trying to get my voice in shape because I had a huge audition coming up. I had applied for a scholarship for singing to a prestigious performing arts university. I only told Kurt about it and somehow Rachel found out. Needless to say she sabotaged me at every turn. I got a solo for competition and then lost it when Rachel had one of her hissy fits. As I said earlier she turned the club against me and the cheerleaders in the club were the only ones that protected me out in the halls. It got so bad that my mental health was suffering and I talked to my parents and we decided to move me to Crawford where there is a zero tolerance anti bullying policy. Before you ask I tanked the audition and lost the scholarship."

"You are welcome Mel. I knew that Rachel was capable of doing a lot but I never suspected she would go that far. I am so sorry that she did that to you. I am actually thinking of dropping the glee club for a while so I don't run into her." FInn said still holding her hand.

Mel thought about it and said. "Thank you Finn. I am going to have to live with the fact she's not going to apologize. Dropping glee might not be a bad idea, considering how angry she is right now. I don't want her to do something horrible to you too. I'm sorry you broke up. I know you love her."

Grinning at Mel as if he knew something she didn't, "To be honest, I don't think anyone is actually in a relationship with Rachel. She is kinda in a relationship with herself."

Mel burst out laughing at this. "You know I never thought about it like that but you are right. I'm here if you ever need anything Finn. We are brother and sister after all. Love you Finn."

"I love you too Mel. I think I am going to play for a bit to get some emotions out." Finn said as he sat down and started to play his game.

"Sounds like a plan, I think I'm going to go see if Shea can meet and talk to her for a bit." Mel said as she headed to her room.

A short time later Mel is finishing up her journaling when her phone rings with a video call request from Shea. Mel's mouth grows into a smile when she sees that its Shea. No matter how she is feeling Shea always brings a smile to her face. She is so in love with this woman.

Mel answers the call grinning, "Hey love, I am so glad you were able to talk right now. I am so happy to see you. I miss you!"

"We just saw each other at school silly. I am happy to see you too. I know something is going on. What's up?" Shea said with a concerned look.

"Rachel and I had a confrontation and Finn was there." Mel said starting to get mad again. "I had just gotten home from school and I see Rachel sitting there with FInn and I loose it. I confront her about everything that happened.:"

"Before you continue my love, I need you to breath for me. I know how you get when Rachel is mentioned or even near you. Just breath and concentrate on me when you are telling me what happened." Shea said calmly and evenly. She could calm Mel down when no one else could.

Mel took a few deep breaths and took a drink of water. "Thank you so much sweetie. You are the best. I feel better. I love you so much."

Grinning Shea replied, "Awww. I'm glad you are calmer. I love you too. Are you ready to continue or do you want a minute.?"

Touched by her girlfriend's concern Mel smiled, "I'm good. I can continue. So I confront her and ask her why she did what she did. I also told her she was the reason I had to change schools. Finn was there and looked shocked at part of it."

"Let me guess she denied it and wouldn't give you an answer. And Finn came to her defense as usual. " Shea said rolling her eyes. She was getting frustrated because no one did something like that to the love of her life.

"Actually...She gave a reason. I didn't by it for a minute. She said that she was jealous of me and saw ME as a threat to her standing in the glee club. Finn then stood up for me and not her. He left her! She was so shocked she left without saying a word. " Mel said and she was really proud of her brother for doing that. She knew he loved Rachel but she didn't think that Rachel loved him back. Rachel loved Rachel.

"Omg! I wish I could have witnessed this! I would have loved to have seen Rachel's face when you confronted her. I feel bad for Finn. I hope he finds someone. There is some good things that came out of you switching schools you know..." Shea said starting to go into her flirty voice.

Knowing full well what Shea meant but acted like she didn't, because to be honest she was feeling flirty too! "Oh really and what is that?"

"You and I met and fell in love. If you hadn't changed schools we would not be together! I think that is a huge positive." Shea said grinning with love in her eyes. She loved the times when she and Mel were flirty.

"It was almost as if it was meant to be. I firmly believe we were meant for each other. I also agree that It was a huge positive. You are my best friend and my soulmate. I love you so much my love." Mel said as a plan formed in her mind for later in the year regarding Shea. That girl really had her heart completely.

"I love you too beyond words my sweetheart. Are you feeling better now?" Shea said already knowing the answer.

"Yeah I am doing much better. Thanks Shea. Do you want to put in the movies we were watching and finish them. If memory serves we were at a really good part." Mel said as she curled up on her bed, contentedly.

"Sure let me just get set up and we can. I'm so glad you are feeling better and I was glad I was able to help you with it." Shea grinned.

"You always do. Now about that movie..." Mel said smiling the most calm and happy smile she had smiled that afternoon. Yup she was definitely deeply in love with Shea and she was going to do everything she could to show her. Life was finally getting better The girls loved each other and nothing was going to get in their way!
