Small detail i forgot about The silver scout costume.

Unlike the Golden guard's, it doesn't have a shoulder pad.

Also, thank you for the support. It is very encouraging (is that how I say it? I don't know the right words. Pardon my lack of social interaction.)

Anyway, enjoy

"Just a little more...a little more." Tate said as he completely focused on carving a griffon out of normal wood.

It was a hobby he took up for the day that he carves his own palisman...if it ever arrives of course.

As he continued carving in his room, he focused more and more until suddenly, the door slammed open

Surprised by this, Tate instinctively threw his carving knife at whoever slammed the door open, nearly killing them if not for them blocking it using their staff.

Tate turned to the door to see his...mother looking very displeased at having been almost killed.

"What are you doing here?" Asked Tate rolling his eyes as he put the griffin carving on his desk

"You attacked me and that's the first thing you say?!" Exclaimed Lilith angrily

"What were you expecting? You slammed a teenager's door open! A normal mother wouldn't do that!" Said Tate angrily as he crossed his arms with a frown on his face

The last statement seemed to make Lilith much more angry "I am NOT your mother. You're just a mistake i made and these weapons are proof of that" Said Lilith as she glared at Tate

"Wow, already going for the sore spot huh?" Said Tate with a frown as he glared at Lilith while gritting his teeth

"I'm making it clear so you wouldn't make this mistake again. I'm not related to some...pathetic half a witch who can't even perform a simple light spell."

Tate hated how much he was affected by her words, how much it hurt him. She was only supposed to be a cartoon character, not someone who he should care about the opinion of.

He was NOT pathetic.

"...yeesh, you don't have to say it every time. I got it on record already" said Tate gritting his teeth in frustration as he pulled out a penstagram scroll from his pocket and playing a recording of Lilith ""i am NOT your mother" See?"

Lilith found Tate's decision to record her insults odd enough to want change the subject. Little did she know, he also recorded what she said a second ago as well. "Eh-- urgh, nevermind. Emperor Belos wants to see you in the throne room."

"He had you come here for that?" Asked Tate raising a brow, speechless at Belos's decision.

"I'm not pleased with it either. So get ready, brat." said Lilith as she left the room in a worse mood than she arrived. "And stop carving wood, it's annoying."

Tate watched with a glare as Lilith left.

"Stupid body, caring about her words" said Tate as he let out some tears. Upon noticing those tears, he immediately wiped them off his face and clutched his head "NO! I DO NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT SHE SAYS! I'M NOT PATHETIC!"

Tate growled in frustration before jumping out of his bed and got into his silver scout costume before heading out with his sword hanging from his waist.

He needed to forget her words. It was time to meet the emperor.

"I greet Emperor Belos" said Tate as he went on one knee in front of the emperor.

Next to Belos were Kikimora and the golden guard all staring at him.

If Tate had to describe the situation in the castle it would be a giant battle royale over a messed up child's favor to see who's his favorite toy to play with.

Then, when it's too late, you realize everyone grows up eventually.

Tate wanted nothing to do with this, but life isn't that easy. Some saw his existence as troublesome, hogging attention that could be spent on them.

"Ah, Silver Scout, good." Said Belos calmly "i want you for a mission of utmost importance."

The golden guard looked slightly annoyed upon hearing that, or it might've been just Tate's imagination.

"There have been rumors of an area where species long extinct could be found. There, i want you to find a stonesleeper. You are to go under the golden guard's command and slay it should the rumors be true...and bring me it's body."

Tate glanced at the golden guard for a brief second before nodding to the emperor's orders.

Him and the golden guard were rivals near enemies. Even the scouts noticed it and started comparing them, adding too much fuel to the fire.

Tate even believed his own title as the Silver Scout to be a ploy to push Hunter further by the emperor.

The only reason he even went along with that stupid rivalry was because he didn't want to disappoint the scouts.

"I'll see that it happens." Said Tate calmly as he stood back up before leaving while ignoring the golden guard staring at him.

'This ride might get bumpy'

'He's whistling the theme song again' Tate thought to himself with a smile under his mask

Now, on an airship, Hunter and Tate were heading towards the location of the sightings of the supposed beast that the golden guard has yet to tell him about.

Hunter was the one steering the ship since Tate knew nothing about driving and both of them didn't want to die.

It was a peaceful ride...until everything started falling apart.

A giant griffon appeared roaring angrily at them, threatening to pop the hot air balloon of the airship.

Tate immediately unsheathed his sword and coated it with a magical blue aura and jumped from the side of the ship before cleanly decapitating the griffon in one slice.

The body of the griffon fell into the boiling sea, meanwhile the head fell into the airship.

Oddly enough, there wasn't any blood. In fact, the head was still alive and roaring. That fact seemed to disgust Hunter.

"Ew, gross" said Hunter in disgust as Tate nonchalantly shrugged.

It was the effect of a spell that Tate spent a very long time perfecting.

The sword was a powerful weapon, but there was one flaw that Tate wanted to fix: it was too effective.

With a sword it's either cause scars, lost limbs or death...all frowned upon by him. So, inspired by his "aunt's" curse, he created a spell that can make anything that he cut reattachable; alive or not and since the head held control over the body, decapitation was an immediate win.

"Eh, it's not that bad. I had one as a pet before, they're surprisingly easy to keep alive in this state." Said Tate calmly as Hunter used his staff to magically throw the head off the ship. "Oh, again." He said in calm disappointment.

"I'm not even gonna ask." Said Hunter before the ship began shaking violently once more "what the-"

Two more beasts appeared and before Tate or Hunter could dispose of them, they popped the airship starting it's crash.

Hunter immediately used his staff to teleport away from the ship and onto the ground. Tate, however, did not have a staff and therefore couldn't fly. All he could do was reinforce his body and jump when it looked survivable.

It worked and Tate safely made it to the ground...as safely as it gets when beasts are about to attack you.

Sadly for them, they picked a fight with the wrong people.

One dead decapitated head and a crushed body later, Hunter and Tate regrouped...or at least Tate tried to make it happen.

"As your superior, i order you to stay here" ordered Hunter in a firm tone

"Excuse me?" Asked Tate in confusion

Hunter didn't reply and just started walking away.

"Seriously? You're going alone?" Asked Tate in confusion before getting no reply from Hunter "ugh, well, if anything happens I hold no responsibility."

This statement got Hunter's attention however, and not in a good way.

"What did you say?" Asked Hunter in a threatening tone

"...it's nothing." Said Tate hoping to avoid starting a fight.

"Oh no, are you saying I'm weak?"

'Does he have some insecurities about his own strength?' Tate thought to himself in shock as as Hunter approached him

Hunter grew angry at Tate's silence and took the first move. His staff glowed for a second, giving Tate enough of an indicator to what's about to happen.

Tate pulled out his sword and blocked an attack coming from behind him, it was Hunter and Tate stared him in the eye. It was the start of a witches duel.

Tate used magic to strengthen his body and his speed and blocked another attack. Hunter as well seemed to be teleporting faster forcing Tate to block using his cloak by enhancing all his clothes using magic.

The battle fell into a stalemate. Tate was fast, but he couldn't catch Hunter due to the lack of ranged attacks and the teleportation. Meanwhile, Hunter couldn't damage Tate enough to knock him out.

It was a race between Tate landing one slash on Hunter and Hunter wearing Tate down enough to take him down.

Sadly, they'd never know who's the stronger between them.

"Do we really have to do this right now?" Asked Tate as he sliced a boulder thrown at him before dashing towards Hunter who teleported away immediately and fired a blast from behind forcing Tate to block using his black cloak. "At least remind me why we're doing this again!"

"Because everyone compares me to you!"

Surprised by the sudden revelation, Tate was knocked off balance. Hunter didn't let this opportunity go and continued attacking.

Then, they were both knocked into a tree by giant beast.

The two got up as fast as they could only to realize that their weapons were gone. As they realized this, they heard maniacal laughter of an old man.

"Well well well, looks like the emperor took the bait."

This whole mission was a trap.

xxXxx

"I knew if i spread rumors of a paradise of extinct creatures, Belos would definitely investigate. All i need to do is strengthen my army while weakening his." Said the old man who trapped Tate and Hunter cheerfully "finally, his reign of terror shall fall"

"Aaand he's crazy" said Hunter with a frown as he was tied with Tate to a rope about to descend into a large pot of acid.

They were all now inside the crazy beast tamer's home, a large forest.

"And is really old fashioned. I mean, acid? Really?" Asked Tate raising a brow under his mask

"It's for the soup. These beasts aren't gonna feed themselves!" Said the crazy old man "wait, that's not right...eh, who cares? Hope they like the taste of ya"

The old man pulled a lever which began lowering the two into the pot before leaving them under the watch of his beasts.

"So, about what you said back there-"

"*sigh* fine. Everyone keeps comparing me to you. You think i don't hear the scouts talking? Even Belos does it and i got *deep breath* frustrated with it. But i guess it doesn't matter now that we're gonna die."

"...now i feel like a jerk..." said Tate tiredly before turning to the beasts guarding them. Suddenly, he felt a burst of determination. They couldn't die now. "How long would it take you to get back your staff if get us out of this rope."

"Can you?" Asked Hunter curiously

"Answer the question, Gold" deadpanned Tate

"If it weren't for those guys, not long" said Hunter as he glared at the beasts

"I'll distract them and you get our weapons, ready?" Said Tate calmly

"Ready?" Said Hunter not knowing what to expect

Upon hearing that, Tate began loosening one of his boots before flinging it into the air behind him.

"How is that supposed to hel-" Hunter was about to finish before Tate interrupted hi.

"Dodge!" Tate yelled out

It was only then that Hunter noticed the boot coming back like a boomerang and now, it was covered in a dense blue aura.

Hunter turned the roped enough for it to get hit instead of him, cutting it and freeing the two of them.

Tate managed to catch his boot and put it back on his foot before nodding to Hunter who began dashing towards their staff and sword.

Before one of the beasts could target Hunter, Tate threw a rock at it's head to gain it's attention.

Tate used magic to strengthen his body and he was able to fight them off pretty well...until their master heard the ruckus.

"Hey! What's goin' on 'ere!? *gasp* my soup! Grr, BEASTS OF THE FOREST-"

"I wouldn't do that if i were you."

The old tamer looked behind him to see Hunter with his staff glowing, ready to take him down.

"Dang it"

"Silver, catch!" Said Hunter before throwing Tate his sword.

Tate caught the sword and stared at the old tamer.

"You think Belos cares about you two?" Asked the old tamer "he'll throw you away the moment you aren't of use. You're just slaves to him and-"

Hunter chuckled "Wow, looks like you already lost your head. Would you like to do it again?"

"Huh?" The old tamer let out before his head fell off his shoulders "AAAAAAH!" he screamed for a few seconds before passing out

"Well, looks like there was no stonesleeper." Said Hunter tiredly as he sat at a nearby rock

"Hey, if you want, i can try telling the scouts to stop this whole competition thing" said Tate calmly

"No, that'd be worse! They'd think i gave up." Said Hunter as he took off his mask and hood "they'd think I'm pathetic."

Tate took off his mask and hood and stared at Hunter silently, the word pathetic particularly gaining his attention. He pulled out a penstagram scroll and played a recording.

"-pathetic half a witch who can't even perform a simple light spell."

Hunter stared at Tate in confusion upon hearing Lilith's hateful voice.

"There are many more where this came from" said Tate with a chuckle as he sat next to Hunter "she absolutely loathes my existence and sadly, she's right; i can't cast normal spells at all."

"At least you HAVE magic." Said Hunter dejectedly

"At least you don't have someone to rub it in every day." Replied Tate dejectedly

"Why would you even care about her opinion? You're plenty strong as you are." Asked Hunter curiously as he stared at Tate

Tate paused for a moment before replying "Lilith's my mother"

Hunter's eyes widened in shock as Tate continued.

"I'm not telling this to get your sympathy. I'm just saying you're not the only one who's pathetic here. Heck, I'm worse! I couldn't even land a hit on you." Said Tate with a weak smile as he layed on the ground.

Hunter was extremely confused by this statement. HE was the one to have trouble during their fight. "Are you kidding me? I couldn't do any damage to you no matter how many attacks i landed!"

"So we're both failures?"

"...maybe"

Tate sighed and got up from the ground before standing in front of Hunter.

"Look, i know we can't shut this rivalry down; but we can at least try to make it less murder inducing." Said Tate exteextending his hand to Hunter. "So, friends?"

Hunter sighed and shook Tate's hand.

"It's Hunter by the way."

"Tate"

"Aww, friendship is incredible" said the old tamer's decapitated head who finally woke up

Tate and Hunter turned to the head with disgusted looks.

"Right, we still have to decide what to do with you." Said Hunter with a deep frown

"I can keep him as a pet" said Tate with a shrug

"Keep me as a pet?!" Yelled the old tamer angrily "I'll have you know I'm a legendary beast tamer! I have-"

"As your superior, I'll allow you to keep him" said Hunter in a fake authoritative tone

That was the start of a wonderful friendship.

Later that night.

"Pathetic half a witch" it was the Lilith's voice played over and over on a penstagram scroll

"Pathetic"

"Pathetic"
