Lady Countryrose

Ch. 9

Hermione had enjoyed seeing the surprised happiness across Lyra's eyes. As it was her first time in Diagon Alley. Seeing all the shops, for what Hermione believed, to be the first, they had all been opened. Even a clothing store, where Fred and Gorge's joke shop would have been.

They had gone to MoM, where Albus Dumbledore had led them to a law enforcement department. Where he handed some paperwork to an Auror named Moody. "What is this, Albus?" The man had a gruff sounding voice.

"Morning Alastor, could you please hand these papers in for me. While I have to take my granddaughters shopping."

The man glared at him. "First, I'm an Auror, now a paper man. What next Albus, a bunny rabbit?!" But grabbed the paperwork anyway, turned on his heel. Then left them behind.

Albus smiled, after seeing that he was getting his way. Led them to the back. Where he opened a couple of vaults for the girls' use. Where the goblin in charge of the Dumbledore vaults and estates grumbled about not having any control. If the elder man died. But managed to get them new vaults next to Albus'.

He then ordered a third to add into each of their vaults. Before the goblin gave the girls their expected keys. Along with whatever security measure they wanted to add. Then gave them what looked like debit cards with their names on them.

After that, they headed for Ovilanders. Where they needed new wands. Where the elder man of the shop was full of energy, even back at Hermione's first year. She had hoped that she would get her wand back.

Ovilander smiled at the two girls. "Nice to see the Headmaster playing escort. What can I do for you, my dears?"

"Sadly, we need new wands, sir. We lost ours, while trying to get to Hogwarts for our grandfather." Lyra smiled at the man kindly.

The wandmaker looked sad. But measured their arms, wrists and shoulders. Before heading to the shelves. He gave Hermione, Harry Potter's old wand. Well, a wand that he would have had. Before she traveled back in time. Causing her to feel sad, knowing that she wouldn't be a part of his life. Like she had.

Then Lyra was given a wand of her own. After nearly causing a whirlwind through the shop. A white oak wood with a wing of a sphinx. Making it one of the perfect wands for curse breaking. "Anything else I should do for you, Albus Dumbledore?"

Albus only smiled. "Nothing else, I'm afraid. We have a few more shopping to do before going back to school."

Then they left the shop behind them. Making it to the clothing store. Where they had gotten three new school robes, with Gryffindor on them. Along with a lightweight cloak and a winter cloak with fur inline.

Then they went to the other shops and got their appointed school supplies. Before Albus went to the Leaky Cauldron. He told them that he would wait for them there. While they sunk out into the muggle London. Where they could do other shopping, without him following after them.

So they went out to the main door. Making their way down the street. Where they shopped at a dime store. Getting their bathroom supplies. Then went next door to get some muggle clothes.

After each shop, they hid their things in Hermione's beaded purse. Then went and got a few other things like boots, coats, jackets, dresses and some other things that they may need. They even had gotten a purse for Lyra to use for her own carrying needs.

Once done, they went back to the Leaky Cauldron for lunch with Albus Dumbledore, over some butterbeer.

"Found everything you need for school?"

They nodded in agreement. Just before, someone stumbled into their table. "Headmaster Dumbledore, didn't see you there. How has Lucius been in school?"

"Lord Malfoy, it has been many years." Albus forced a smile on his lips. "Your son has been a good student, as always."

"Who are these girls," Lord Malfoy asked with the sugar-sweet tone of his voice. Causing the girls to be uncomfortable.

He then waved his hand to the two on his right. "Lyra and Hermione, my granddaughters."

"Granddaughters," Lord Malfoy asked with glee in his eyes. "Where have you been hiding them?"

"The states," smiled Albus. "They came to finish their last two years of schooling at Hogwarts. After," he sighed. "An accident with their parents."

Lord Malfoy bowed, "My condolences, ladies."

"Thank you, Lord Malfoy," the two responded kindly.

He bowed once more. "See you at the Board of Education meeting, Headmaster Dumbledore." Then left them, before heading to the bar.

"I don't trust him," whispered Lyra softly.

"Nor do I," stated the headmaster. While his eyes wander the establishment. "We need to leave."

They had finished what they could before flooing back to his office. Where the three fell into their seats. Just as they heard some tapping at the window. Albus waved his hand, allowing three owls to rush in. Two owls dropped boxes in front of the girls. While another dropped in front of Albus.

"Good, your clothes and books have arrived." He opened his own box and nodded his head. "These are documents that you'll find in my drawer, if something happens to me. Otherwise, I will give them to you, over winter break. When I show you your new home."

They gave a small nod. "Anything else, sir," asked Hermione.

He pulled a couple of boxes out of the box and handed them to them. They opened them, only to be shocked. "They are my family's coat of arms, rings. Giving authority in my stead, if I'm unable."

The ring also acted as a wax seal for documentation purposes. Showing an image of a phoenix with the name Dumbledore, backwards. With the words, Per ignem vivimus. Through fire, we survive.
