Lady Countryrose

Ch. 10

Hermione and Lyra were in the hospital wing. Where the nurse made them drink some potions. Even a vial of vitamins was needed. Before being told to head for dinner. Where they met with the Gryffindor bunch.

Hermione sat next to Sirius Black, with her head on his shoulder. Closing her eyes. "I'm tired," she whined.

Lyra nodded, just as Remus handed her a cup of hot cocoa. "Thank you." Before taking a sip, she took some chicken pot pie for dinner.

Sirius chuckled, "You're tired already?"

"Gringotts, playing mind games with Lord Malfoy. Finding out we're part of Wizengamot." Lyra glared at Sirius's joyful smile. "Yeah, tired," she grunted at him.

James gave a sigh, "My Dad wants me to sit in with him. But I'm not ready for that."

Hermione pulled herself away from Sirius. "It's not a bad idea, James. Grandfather wants us to, because life is uncertain, and we need to know what we're doing."

Sirius huffed before pouring Hermione a cup of tea. Then went on to make up her dinner plate. "Talk later, eat!"

Hermione glared at him. But she started to eat. Knowing she had little energy to fight with him.

Lily huffed but asked, "How was shopping?"

Lyra smiled, "Between the two of us. We could have bought more books. If grandfather didn't put us on a budget." She wasn't really lying, since they didn't want to use up their funds in one day.

Remus smiled, "I can relate. Most days I struggle between chocolate or books. And I still never have enough for both." His cheeks heat up to a nice blush.

Sirius Black had stopped in his eating and asked. "Earlier, you said Lord Malfoy?"

"Yeah," Hermione shrugged. "Surprised that we're the headmaster's granddaughters. Why?"

He cursed under his breath. "Don't be surprised if he contacts the headmaster to get you to marry his son." He looked mad, angry and willing to march over to the Slytherin table, and hit the white blonde.

Lyra glanced over and saw Severus. She felt him enter her head and saw what Sirius had said. Only for him to whip his head to Lucius Malfoy. Where Severus bent over and whispered something. Only to see the white blonde become sickly pale.

"I think Severus gave Malfoy a warning," stated Lyra. Causing everyone to look.

"Wow," whistled James. "I have never seen Malfoy so scared before. What did Snape say to him?"

Sirius smirked, "Probably telling him that he could mix a potion. Where he wouldn't be able to have children. At least in some form of that," he shrugged his shoulders.

Remus gulped, "How would you know that?" He sounded a bit fearful about the answer.

"He may have threatened to do that to me. At least a time or two," smiled Sirius. "It was during our final exams last year. It didn't phase me. Told him, good, if he could. I didn't want to bring any more inbred Blacks into the world."

Hermione signed, "What happened after that?" She was afraid of what happened next.

"Just told me to leave him alone until the last final." He shrugged his shoulders. "But he didn't tell me I couldn't be James' back up, if he started off on him."

Lily huffed, "I lost a friend that day," she growled out. She had gotten up and moved her dinner away from the group.

Hermione and Lyra shared a look and followed after her. Leaving the boys behind. Only to hear Sirius and James whining about it.

Lily smiled at the two of them. They finished their dinner and left the Great Hall. Making their way to the Gryffindor Common Room. Hearing the boys about fifty feet behind them.

On their way, they were stopped by a couple of Slytherins. One of them being Lucius Malfoy. "Ladies," he purred out. "Out for a walk?"

Lily stepped forward, "Leave them alone, Malfoy."

"Step aside, Mudblood. I am not here for you," he growled out. After pushing her to the wall. He stood close to Lyra and Hermione. "Now, what makes you special for Severus Snape to be close to you?"

Before anyone could answer. The very man cut between the girls and the older boy. "Lucius," Severus growled out. Stepping a step back, where he felt Lyra against his back.

"Severus," the older boy hissed. "How did you know?"

His lips pulled back. "Their guard dogs told me." Causing the girls to look behind them. Only to see that they were on each side of them.

"I see," Lucius pulled his robe in frustration. "Your grandfather will hear from my father, very soon." He then turned to his partner. "Come, Avery, we know when we're not wanted." Then they were gone.

Severus turned around to face the group. "Why were they alone?" He sounded harsh towards the boys.

Lily jumped in, "I was upset. When Black reminded me about the end of last year."

Severus nodded, but hissed, "None of you can walk alone. Not when Lucius Malfoy has an idea in his head."

"Which is," Sirius growled out.

"To take them by force, if need be. Because he, and others like him, will want their hands on the Dumbledore name. Just to be one up with the Dark Lord."

Hermione shivered as she glared darkly. "Not bloody likely," she growled out.

Lily Evans sighed, "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have allowed my emotions to get the best of me."

Lyra looked up into Severus' dark eyes and saw a hint of worry within them. "We won't wander without a group, Severus. Promise."

He nodded, he glanced up to see Remus. "Thank you for letting me know." He squeezed Lyra's shoulder. Before he left, as his robes whipped behind him.

Lily Evans led everyone to the common room. Where she fell into a chair by the fire. Hermione yawned. "See you all in the morning…" She climbed up the stairs to the dorm, with Lyra right behind her.

The two got ready for bed and fell into their own beds. The two turned to face each other from their own beds. Hermione huffed sadly, "I hope Lily can feel better in the morning."

Lyra nodded her head. "I'll talk to Severus, if I can, tomorrow."

They closed their eyes and fell asleep.
