Driven by Challenges

Lady Countryrose

Ch. 12

The next morning, found Hermione angry with Lily Evans. The redhead was a spunk of energy with a windup anger for the one and only, James Potter. Only because the young man had decided to sing her a song that he had made up for his Lily flower. Yep, she really wanted to do something so out of character for her. Even go as far as crushing the dream of Harry Potter's future existence.

But no, she just walked her way down the Great Hall. With Lyra at her side, since she was holding on to her. While the rest of Gryffindor was following right after.

Once the group had reached the breakfast table. Sirius was the one brave enough to ask. "Hey, beautiful, what caused the less than loving attitude?"

She felt her eyes looking at him in disbelief. But realized that men were really stupid at sixteen. "Sirius," she spoke in a fake sweet voice. Seeing him sweat before her eyes.

"You know what, since you've asked. I think it's high time I tell it as it is." She looked to Lily, who gulped in fear. "If a guy managed to sing me a song. I would think he really does have his full focus on me."

"I…" Lily whimpered softly.

Hermione then turned to James, who just grinned at her. "You are a tiring person to be with, James. If a girl says, knock it off, so many times. It's time for you to turn your sights elsewhere."

"I know what the heart wants," he huffed out.

Hermione then turned to Sirius, feeling her glare burning into him. "And you, stop encouraging him! He's hopeless!"

"But it's fun," he smiled wholeheartedly. "He never knows what's good for him."

Lyra stepped in, before anything else caught Hermione's warpath. "Well, you guys don't act serious enough about the outside world, to care about the fear that we feel about."

"Hu," asked James. "What do you mean?"

Lyra rolled her eyes. "You do realize that Lily's parents are muggles. The kind of people that are getting killed by the Death Eaters," she growled out softly.

Only to see emerald eyes being surrounded in tears.

Which only caused his eyes to pop out. "Oh," he gasped out. "I… only play games and throw pranks to get away from those thoughts. I just want everyone to think about happier times. While we're still in Hogwarts," he finally spoke his mind and sounded sad, all the same.

Lily looked at him, only to be described as her having mixed feelings. "Potter," she whispered. Only to stop herself from talking.

Everyone had decided to eat their breakfast in peace. Before they split up, their ways. Lyra and Hermione, hiding out in the library. Going into hidden rooms. While the others tried to concentrate with their classes.

The two time travelers found that it was their last day in the library. The last day to hide away from most of the school. They managed to get the rest of their missed school work done, without the others disturbing them.

They noticed it was getting to be lunchtime. So they snuck down to the Great Hall. They really didn't want to eat much. So they grabbed some fruit.

After sitting for a few minutes. Sirius and Remus came and sat with them.

"Where are…?"

"Detention," answered Remus in fear.

"What," they turned to Sirius.

He huffed, "James was helping Peter. Only for Evans to snap at them. Where McGonagall had received a stinging hex, Evans tried to hit James, on the bum with. Giving all three of them detention."

"Okay, but isn't it after school?" Hermione gave him a subtle glare.

"No, they are in the Hospital Wing. Peter enlarged James's nose."

Remus chuckled, "I don't think I can look at James the same way." Wiping a fake tear away.

Lyra and Hermione had tried very hard not to laugh. Only to find themselves giggling as they tried to get the image out of their minds.
