We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.
The school system, the way it is set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. And, the students of Bronzestone high, look out for one another, and are willing to help others in danger. This is the dangerous sophomore year.
Junior's POV
The baseball season was going about to be starting up again, and the team was working really hard. We really wanted to win the championship 2 seasons in a row, and we weren't going to let anything stop us. Hudson continued to get frustrated with me, as I wouldn't stop outperforming him. He wanted a big chance to knock me down a peg, and was hoping that our first game of the season against Blackbush would be our chance.
Reader's POV
The students were having lunch, and Junior's group of friends were discussing the upcoming match. "We should be able to get back to back titles, seeing as how we have a much better team than last year" said Hudson. "Huh, I didn't see this one coming" said Wilson. "What is it, what have you got?" asked Bertha. Wilson then showed a Facebook post, put out by Owen from Total drama.
I am posting this on the internet, to inform everyone to not panic, I am not going to go missing. But I won't deny it, I won't be seen by anyone for quite some time, as I will be in the long process of digging a tunnel to Mexico.
"Who on earth does that stout bloke think he's kidding?" asked Terence. "Does he not realize how far has to dig?" "I know, he's not going to make it any farther than Los Angeles" said Wilson. "Dear God, do I seriously have fat people to blame for my cousin's idiocy?" asked Bertha. "On the topic of tunnels, there is this rumor that I heard about how Ezekiel might get back into town undetected" said Seth. "There are some people that think there's a tunnel in this town, that will take you straight to Toronto." "Okay, that's a more realistic distance, but it's still complete poppycock that people are digging these ridiculous amount of miles" said Terence. "Actually amigo, it's not as insane you think" said a voice. They turned to see Ozzy Gomez talking. "When I was in Mexico, my grandfather dug one all the way to Argentina." "Oh dear God, I wish I was back in Europe, the North Americans have lost their sanity" said Terence.
Junior's POV
The news about Owen digging a tunnel to Mexico, was on the news the following morning. Seeing as how I knew Owen from the Ridongculous race, I was wondering what the hell he was thinking. My dad tried to give his theory, but as I was still refusing to talk to him, I just left the room. The following day, we were at the baseball diamond, ready for the first big game of the season. After a pre game pep talk from the coach, we were on the field with our hands on our hearts for the national anthem. Then is was time to play ball.
Reader's POV
As Blackbush was the visiting team, they were the ones batting first. Junior managed to work together with a Freshman named Edward Francis, to pull off a triple play and go into the bottom of the first. They sent Junior up to bat, and then soot hit the fan. Junior was unable to duck out of the way in time, and got hit in the shoulder with a fastball. "A WALK TO FIRST BASE!" yelled the umpire. Junior slowly made it to first base, clutching his shoulder. He definitely didn't break any bones, but he was fairly certain that some blood vessels were popped, as his shoulder now had a large purple bruise. Bronzestone ended up getting three outs before they could get one run. One big reason for this, was Junior not being able to run as fast with a hurt shoulder. As such, the teams were tied 0-0 going into the second inning.
The second inning went exactly the same as the first, with neither team managing to get a run. During the third inning, Blackbush went on a tear, managing to score a whopping nine runs before they got three outs. The Bronzestone team knew they had to work hard to catch up with them, with their best player currently struggling. They managed to get six runs before the inning ended, making them only down by three going into the fourth. Junior spent his time in between innings, holding an ice pack to his shoulder.
In the fourth inning, Blackbush began to pull away slightly, as they were able to score four runs, while Bronzestone was only able to get three. The score was 13-9, going into the fifth inning. Up in the stands, Bertha was sitting next to Harold, and she had her fist clenched. "That jackass hit Junior with the fast ball on purpose" she grunted through gritted teeth. "It's a cheap shot, trying to incapacitate the best player" said Harold.
In the fifth inning, Blackbush managed to score five runs, bringing their score up to 18. This time, it was Bronzestone's turn to go on a tear, as now they were the team that managed to score 9 runs. Going into the sixth inning, the teams were now tied at 18 runs apiece. The sun was now setting in the distance, and the stadium lights were now being turned on.
The sixth inning was where Bronzestone continued to show what they were made of. This time Blackbush was only able to score one measly run, while Bronzestone was able to get seven. "YES" shouted Harold, as he and Bertha high fived. With the game now two thirds of the way through, Bronzestone was leading 25-19.
In the seventh inning, Blackbush was making a serious effort to catch back up, as they managed to get four runs. When Bronzestone was up to bat for the bottom of the inning, they couldn't even get one. With just two innings left, the score was now 25-23. By this point the sun had completely gone down, and the baseball diamond's lights were shining under the night sky.
In the eighth inning, Blackbush started struggling again, as they were not able to get a single run. Bronzestone was not making it easy on them in the slightest, as they managed to get seven runs. Now they were going into the ninth and final inning, with Bronzestone leading 32- 23. The just needed to make sure Blackbush got three outs, before they could get nine runs. By this point the game had gone on for so long, that it had now gone into midnight. Despite this, everybody in the stands that made up a sold out crowd, had yet to leave.
This was it, they were down to the ninth and final inning. Blackbush didn't start off the inning too well, as when they sent their first two players up to bat, the ball was caught before they hit the ground. One more out, and everyone was going home. The next one they sent up to bat, hit the ball, the ball hit the ground past third base, and went into the stands making it a ground rule double. Bertha happened to be the lucky audience member that was able to catch the ball. Their next batter they sent up to bat, hit the ball towards left center field. It bounced off the ground and Junior picked it up. He saw that the guy on second, was was trying to make it to home plate. Junior quickly threw the ball to home, Hudson caught it, and tagged the runner as he was sliding into home plate. "OUT!" yelled the umpire. Everyone on the Bronzestone team ran onto the field, and began to celebrate. They had just won the first game of the season.
Junior's POV
It was a very happy time for the team, we had proved that we were a force to be reckoned with. On our way out of the diamond, me and Bertha ran into each other, and for about two and a half minutes we made out. What I didn't realize at that moment, was that something bad was going to happen to Bertha in less than a month. But that is a story for another day.
Authors note: I myself have never played baseball before. I don't pretend to be a genius on it, but I think it's way more difficult than how it looks on tv.
The idea of digging ludicrously long tunnels, is based off of something I did when I was four. I actually attempted to dig all the way to Baltimore, only to give up 7 minutes in because I was getting bored XD
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
