We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.
The school system, the way it is set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. And, the students of Bronzestone high, look out for one another, and are willing to help others in danger. This is the dangerous sophomore year.
The tugs theme then plays
Junior's POV
I was massively relieved when Bertha was able to survive her near death experience. I was so happy that I got my girlfriend back, that I began to have more confidence when playing baseball. In the next three games, we didn't lose by any less than 11 runs. Now with Bertha far behind in her studying, having to rely on a medical waiver to get into this term, she was determined to get caught back up. There was no way she was flunking out of Bronzestone, if there was a chance that me and her had the opportunity, to remain as students together. One day as me and my group of friends were having lunch in the cafeteria, we saw how overworked she was.
Reader's POV
Bertha's eyes were bloodshot red, with dark circles underneath of them. Every time she was about to fall asleep, she would immediately jolt her head back up, and give a weird snort. "Are your eyes really red, or is it just the way your glasses are tinted?" asked Terrence. Bertha then temporarily took off her glasses, to show that her eyes were pretty screwed up. "What on earth happened to you?" asked Seth. "Been so busy studying, only got four hours of sleep per night, for the last 10 days" said Bertha. Ozzy Gomez then walked over. "SeƱorita, you look as though you've been drugged" he said. "I'm not sick, i'm just really tired" said Bertha. "Wilson get over here, i'm stressed, I need a hug from my cousin." Bertha wrapped herself around Wilson in a tight embrace. "I love you Wilson, I love you so much, you're the best cousin in the world."
Junior's POV
For me, this was a rarity. This was one of the very few times where Bertha wasn't frustrated at Wilson for something, and she was actually giving him a loving hug. As we were going into auto mechanics class later that day, Bertha needed me to help her walk, as she could barely balance herself on two feet. It was when she sat down at one of the desks, that soot hit the fan.
Reader's POV
As Bertha sat down, an empty root beer bottle fell out of her backpack, and smashed on the ground. Blaineley was shocked at what she was seeing. "Wait a minute, can barely walk, barely keep her eyes open, and an empty beer bottle" said Blaineley. "Oh my goodness, Bertha Shadow Richards, do you have any idea how much trouble you are in?" asked Blaineley. "I swear, it's not alcohol, it's root beer" said Bertha. "I'm not taking any more of your lies, you're already on thin ice after you faked a near death experience, in order to get into the second term." "Hey Mildred, do us all a favor, and shut the hell up" said Junior. "I am your teacher, and you will not cuss in my class, and you will address me as Ms O'Halloran" said Blaineley. "If you are going to insult a heart transplant survivor, then I can say whatever the fuck I want" said Junior.
Junior's POV
I wasn't going to put up with her crap, I was going to stand my ground. I wasn't just going to stand there and do nothing, while she accused my girlfriend of drinking in school. When she told me that i'd be serving a detention after class, I told her that I refused to show up, and that she can kiss my ass. And that's exactly what I did, I didn't show up for my detention. Because of this incident, my parents had to be called in, and we were sitting in the principal's office with Principal Star.
Reader's POV
"What do you mean she might be facing expulsion?" asked Junior. "Do you not understand the seriousness of the situation?" asked Principal Star. "Students drinking alcohol, will not be tolerated on school grounds." "Bertha Richards is going to be suspended for at least a week, so she has time to talk about her drinking problem with a psychiatrist." "By all accounts, she should be expelled from Bronzestone high, and I am giving her some major leeway." "And as for you Mr Santori, I will once again let you off with a warning for yelling at a teacher, as I do acknowledge that is a low blow to mock somebody's health problems." "Aren't you at least going to let her explain her side of the story?" asked Junior. "We tried to give her a chance, but she was too drunk to talk" said Principal Star. "SHE IS NOT DRUNK, SHE'S JUST REALLY TIRED!" snapped Junior. "That's it, you just earned yourself a week of detention" said Principal Star. Junior was absolutely furious, this was where he drew the line. He ran up to Principal Star, and punched him hard in the nose, badly breaking it, and causing it to bleed.
Junior's POV
My actions against Principal Star, resulted in my week long detention, being replaced with a week long suspension. In that moment, I honesty did not care. I knew that what I did was the right thing to do. My parents didn't punish me, and they also thought that I was in the right. Now let me just clarify, that Principal Star is not a bad person by any means, but he was in a position where he didn't know, what the heck was going on. Due to a certain incident in the future, he would apologize for everything, but that is a story for another day.
Authors note: I am going to clarify that Principal Star is not an antagonist, he is just really horrified. I think in real life, if a school principal had reason to believe that a student was drinking on school grounds, while they shouldn't act the way Principal Star did, they do have every right to be horrified.
Junior punching Principal Star, may not have been the right thing to do, but it was definitely justified.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
