Natalie is walking down Berns Street, humming to herself. Up ahead is a young man selling apples, but she has no interest in buying any since she just had lunch an hour ago. She passes a boutique, noticing a baby carriage being displayed at the window. She stops walking, gazing at the beautifully designed carriage. Hopefully if Rick says yes, this will be perfect for their baby. Natalie's heart is filled with joy, she's thinking about the fun she and Rick could have with their child. She still doesn't know what she'll do if the baby is a boy or girl.
Her pleasure is broken by the loud blaring of the siren echoing across the city. Natalie looks around the street, as nearby people are confused by the siren as well. She becomes scared, thinking it could be a kaiju attack. A few blocks down, she can see people running for their lives, before a giant wave splashes onto the road. More waves are formed, traveling down Berns Street, towards Natalie. She begins running for her life, as the other people around her also flee, screaming in terror. Knowing she won't outrun the waves, she heads into the nearest building, possibly a hotel. However, the glass doors aren't strong enough to hold back the water, as the lobby becomes flooded. Natalie heads for the stairwell, shutting the door behind her. As she starts heading up the stairs, she notices water leaking from under the door. Although Markson is located near the Pacific, it's impossible for the city to experience tsunamis.
Walking up all those stairs was tiring, but Natalie has made it to the roof. A few other people are taking refuge up here, as they're watching the chaos below. Natalie walks up to them, able to see the flooding of the city. It's horrifying to watch, people are struggling in the waves, unable to fight the currents. A giant creature suddenly pops out of the water, freighting Natalie. She recognizes it as the sea serpent Manda, meaning this tsunami isn't natural. Two other Mandas swim down the flooded street, until one of them is snatched by another kaiju. And it's the fiercest of them all; Godzilla.
Natalie and the others back away from the edge of the roof as Godzilla shakes the Manda in his mouth, with the serpent roaring in agony. One of the other Mandas attacks Godzilla, biting his arm. Godzilla thrusts his arm, smashing the Manda against the building, taking a chunk of the roof off. Natalie falls onto the ground from the impact and continues to watch the fight. Godzilla grabs the flailing Manda with both his hands, gripping its body tightly, before tearing off its head. The blood of the serpent splatters onto the roof, but thankfully misses Natalie and company. She gets back on her feet, speechless by the sight of Godzilla holding the headless Manda. He drops the body into the water, before following the other Manda deeper into the city. It's a good thing Godzilla is fixated on the other kaiju, otherwise Natalie and everyone else on this roof would most likely be dead right now.

Panic is filling the hospital, doctors and patients are running through the hallway, as Rick peers through a window, watching the city outside being covered in large waves. He notices the head of a kaiju in the waves, a Manda, making the crisis more dangerous. The lower floors are likely flooded, nobody can get out of the building. Rick is having an anxiety attack, Natalie is out there, and he prays that somehow, she's alright. He can hear the distant roar of what sounds like Godzilla, making his heart drop.
Rick slowly walks through the hallway, as people pass him. Markson is flooded, Godzilla and several Mandas are roaming around, Natalie is trapped in the city, and there's nothing Rick can do about it. The very thought of his wife being all alone makes him want to cry. But she has to be alive, he refuses to think she's actually dead.
Rick passes by Frank Jooby's room and stops walking when he hears deep grunting coming from inside. Feeling concerned for the man, he enters the room, nearly screaming by what he finds. Lying in the bed is Frank, but he doesn't look human anymore. He's turned into a giant mushroom creature with limbs, a literal mushroom with arms and legs. Rick can feel his stomach turning, like he's about to throw up. The creature that was once Frank slowly turns its head towards him, before rising off the bed. Rick should be fleeing, but he's frozen with fear, as the creature approaches him. Adrenaline kicks in, and he quickly grabs the chair within the room, before shutting the door, putting the chair against it. The creature bangs aggressively on the other side, making the same grunting noises as before.
Rick runs aimlessly through the halls, running into more mushroom creatures. That Matango mushroom is unlike anything known to science if it's capable of turning humans into monsters. Those who were infected are spreading throughout the hospital, there's nowhere to run or hide. Or perhaps there is, as Rick spots a bunch of people in the cafeteria. He runs over, and once he's inside, two doctors shut the doors behind him, barricading it by putting a broomstick within the handles. Knowing that he's safe, Rick catches his breath, observing the other survivors in the room. Tobias, Michael, and George are all here. Rick is glad they're okay, for now.
